wow this is the best Italian food i've had in my life. I don't get out much though (CA wise haha), and where i'm from (Sacramento) i feel the Italian is decent. I like my food well seasoned, and this restaurant did not disappoint. i ordered to go and brought it up to my room. I ordered the : bruschetta-DELICIOUS!! mushroom ravioli- so AMAZING, and I was scared of this dish since i love meat. I had to order it because everyone else does when they come here. GREAT! lasagna- delicious! needs crushed red pepper but that's my preference. salmon- good, but i'm not a big fan of salmon my partner is. tiramisu- amazing! My to go food came with garlic bread and bread sticks. i didn't care so much for the bread sticks but the garlic bread was very tasty. Hands down the best place to eat in the row if Italian is your thing. read more

I highly recommend La Strada! A couple of my friends and I were staying at circus circus for my birthday weekend and decided to walk through the strip to look for some delicious food! We stumbled across la strada, the ambience was great it wasn't as loud as the other restaurants, the service was great from start to finish! Robert was our waiter and we met victor and Carmelo! The food was amaaaaazing, the best most tender, flavorful filet mignon I've ever tried in my life! My friends and I all agreed it melted in our mouth! The chicken Alfredo was delicious too! Cocktails were a hit, def strong no complains at all! Robert was great and so was the rest of the staff! First I booked the table on OpenTable at 5pm for an 8pm reservation. The hostess didn't see the reservation anywhere. They were suddenly booked all night. Despite open tables as far as the eye can see. Fine, we can eat in the bar. I wish we hadn't. The food was awful. I have never not eaten a meal, ever, in my life. I not only couldn't eat it, but also couldn't have it on our table because the smell made me nauseous. The server took it off our bill without me asking, I was happy to give her the money and not the place, they should probably shut down. read more

This may be a bit to long winded for a few..but I think they are deserving. The heading of their website reads "Italian Elegance" with a beautiful photo. It then follows with "Experience the taste and romance of Italy at La Strada". So lets get started..I am a local, and try to experience the local offerings. We had reservations for 8 PM on Friday..arrived at 7:45 PM and was told by the hostess that we could not be seated (tons of open tables by my observation) until it was closer to 8 PM..no problem, lets go have a drink at the bar.."make sure you close out because we can't transfer your check"...OK, got it. Walked to the bar, and literally 1 minute later "your table is ready"..I'm sorry did something change in the last 45 seconds that I walked from the door to the bar? I always make it a point to dress appropriately, especially when it is "Italian Elegance"...I chose to ignore the slippers, tank tops, flip flops, gym shorts, etc..I digress... We were seated at an nice table for two..to which I was immediately greeted with screaming children, I glance over and there are literally there 5-8 yr olds wrestling, screaming, and running around unchecked..maybe the parents will hem them in, so some of the "Italian Elegance" will come, nope. I mention to my server, is there a way we can enjoy our meal without the screaming and children running around and play fighting? Let me get the manager...she comes over..I mention the same thing, I quote " I don't see anything other than a family enjoying their meal", followed by a nice blond haired youngster screaming and running around...Her attitude was rude, curt, and with zero concern over my comfort and dining experience - it has become common place I have noticed in Reno to dismiss customer concerns, assuming they are one time diners, or tourists...big mistake in my opinion. We were offered the opportunity to move, which we accepted..no apologies, nothing..here let me help you Manager, " Sir, I'm sorry, I can understand why that might disturb you meal, lets find you a table that will offer you a elegant dining experience, we want you to enjoy your selves and visit us in the future". Nope..just a sneer, and a here is a table closer to the front. Don't like your job or if you suck at it..quit. On to the food..the Calimari was nothing more than a bowl of crumbles, breading and tiny rings..not worth $18.95, save your money..and it was luke warm at best. The Panzanella salad..basically cucumbers, tomatoes, and pickled red onions with a vinagerette dressing, was good..The main course, the cannelloni, was mediocre, the pasta was hard on the top, overzealous a on the cheese, etc..not impressed..the Cavatelli and Prawn..very good..the bread that was served...not warm, no butter, no olive oil...honestly for $108, the Olive Garden is a better bet, hands down. Service..fake..had to let the young man know his name tag was upside down..lets you know that his fellow employee's are jerks...had to ask for water refills, had to ask twice for a box to go, and when I asked for a small bag, everyone disappeared. I went to the restroom while waiting on the bag..lo and behold, there is the young man who said he would bring me my bag..in the restroom, leaning on the sink on his cell phone...awesome guys! Needless to say..will not dine here again, and will advise everyone else to go elsewhere..there are too many places in Reno that do a better job. Taking notes before during and after. We were told the 12 Nicole is the Table Nazi (Sienfelds version of Soup Nazi). We had to split our group to three tables. She could have just combined 2 tables and freed up 1 table. My take on this... She has the power trip for being the Hostess. Our second family came in and before they're about to be sat by a Hostess ... She yelled at at her in front of us and say.. Do Not sith them there. That to me is condescending. You never yell at staff in front of customers. The food is 4 star.. It's pretty good! Ordered Veal and Linguini and clam. I found my new favorite Italian Restaurant in Town -It was about time! During our staycation at El Dorado (Now the Row), my husband and I made dinner reservations for La Strada. We arrived on time and waited about 5 mins to get seated... The Place: This beautiful Italian-style restaurant has brick walls, columns, dimmed light, and esthetically set tables inside the El Dorado casino. I would recommend dressing nicely as part of the experience ;-) The Food: Everything looked so good on the menu that I had a hard time deciding what to get. They bring you some complimentary garlic bread to share. One of the best garlic breads I have ever had! I could not stop eating it! For the main course, I had the "Lobster Fra Diavolo". Lobster Tail served over homemade spaghetti with a spicy tomato-based sauce. I was debating between the lobster dish or the scallops. Our fantastic server, Keith, recommended adding some scallops. Everything on that plate was a piece of art. The pasta was unbelievable, the sauce was so flavorful and the lobster and scallops were cooked perfectly! My husband had the "Lamb Chops Scottadito" - perfectly cooked medium rare lamb chops served over artichoke hearts and potatoes glazed with a flavorful balsamic marinated. I had a bite of his dish, and it just melted in my mouth. Some serious and juicy lamb! YUMMY!! We started the night with a cocktail. Margarita, of course! Then we transition to a bottle of wine. We decided to enjoy a bottle of Jordan 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon for this particular date night - One of my favorite wines. Cheers! The Service: Our server for the night was Keith. He and the busser did a great job at taking care of us. They refilled our waters constantly, checked that we liked our food, and always had wine in our glasses. I could not choose what to get and Keith was super helpful. He also recommended my husband to go with the lamb, and we could not be any happier! Keith chatted with us a little bit. He is knowledgeable about the dishes and wines, and he has so many years of experience in the service industry. He made sure that we had a very memorable dinner. Alas, it is again festivus and so our large Italian-ish family gathered again for a nice dinner. With some fervent (and not so nice) urging from infrequent yelp users (I believe real Yelpers have better manners), we gave La Strada another try. Many of my original concerns stand. We had a mixed experience at best. 1. It took 2 hours to dine with one course. The waiter had warned that the kitchen was busy (our reservation was for 5:30PM) and that the multi-course chef's choice tasting special would take 2 hours. None of us ordered this due to time constraints and still it took 2 hours! We went elsewhere for dessert. Imagine if we all took the chef's tasting - we may be ringing the New Year still in our seats! 2. Waiters promise but do not deliver re service times. We requested a side and kids meals to arrive first. Kids meals did not arrive first. Side actually came last, after they realized they were out of broccolini (but strangely found enough later to bring on for garnish on other entrees). The osso bucco was great, well garnished and stewed veal. The monk fish was fair - the cook was fine but the olives and capered sauce was overbearing. Mushroom ravioli is their specialty. Pastas were ok. Our waiters poured a Sam Adams lager in the strangest way, by inverting the entire bottle deep into a tall glass and pulling it straight out while the beer violently bubbles out, creating 2 whooping inches of head. This was an interesting pour for sure as it left us questioning if this was protocol, the right head height for a lager and if the beer bottle itself was clean enough to submerge in beer. I lived in Boston for 2 years and have never seen this, even at the SA brewery - Is this a new thing? I would not recommend this place given our poor experience with kids. But if you want to brave it out, kids meals are not a bad deal for the price (about $11+). My mind has not swayed. --- PREVIOUS REVIEW Our family party of 14 came for dinner tonight on Christmas Eve to celebrate the holiday. We were not an easy party as we had many kids in tow. But a restaurant of this caliber should be professionals with these circumstances. Yet La Strada failed poorly - her sister (The Grille) is a much better venue for groups / kids / more thoughtful staff. COAL IS IN TRANSIT. THE BAD / What could have been better? 1) The waiter could have brought the kids' food out with the salads. Who in the right mind would make a 1-year old wait 2 courses before they get their food?!? I was seeing red. Note: no kids meals offered but the restaurant offers half orders of 3-4 pastas (congrats on no veggies tonight, kids) 2) I ordered the seafood linguini and the pasta was strangely undercooked and the pasta on top of the plate was dry, though there was plenty of piping hot broth underneath - as if the entree was waiting under a heat lamp for a while. This made the pasta even more toothsome than I could take - I was the only one who had trouble eating my food so I'm assuming this was a one off error. A HUGH peeve of mine was that I had a 1-year old and a 3-year old sitting near me and the waiter set this HOT noodle broth bowl down within their little arms' reach. SEEING RED. SENDING COAL TOMORROW. 3) The zin I chose was out for the night. The sub that was offered was bad. I wasn't asked if I liked it though the waiter said he would check in on me later. 3) I think it's always courteous to mention that the total bill includes a mandatory tip. We often go out to group dinners and expect minimum group gratuity to be the norm. We appreciate it when waiters offer up this information - when they do, my FIL likes to tip extra - as it's a sign of trust and transparency. Tonight, no such information. Wah wah. THE GOOD - CHEF TASTING Some of our party ordered the Chef Special. This is a 4-course meal (sometimes advertised as 6-course meal) that includes a salad, one plate that includes 2 small primi piattis, one plate that includes 2 secondi piattis and a dessert. You never know what you're going to get as this is entirely by whim of the kitchen. Offerings vary day by day and even table by table, as our waiter had explained. Salad tonight was mixed greens with sous-vide pork, primis were shrimp risotto and mushroom ravioli, secondi were pork and quail, dessert was a tres leches hazelnut panacotta. For $44, it was a good deal as long as you don't have any food biases, allergies or restrictions. My husband's ossobuco was decent as well. We will likely return to give this place another try... assuming we meet a different waiter. read more

Some of the best food in Reno, for sure. We came for my birthday and left fat, sassy, and satisfied. We started the meal with the calamari, and I think out of everything this was the least satisfying, but still good. Between my wife and I we had the veal ossobuco and the buffalo cheese gnocchi. Each of our entrees were outstanding. I was happy to have some of it come home for leftovers. I've had the pleasure of dining here on a special occasion with reservations in the restaurant and for a last-minute meal before a show in the bar area. Both were good though I would say I did prefer my reservations in the restaurant experience over the other merely due to the amount of attention we received throughout the evening. Last time, I ordered the Cesar salad for dinner and was definitely disappointed by the size of the dish in comparison to the price point. During our triathlon #eating, drinking, shopping- across America while in Reno La Strada was on our list for the famous mushroom ravioli. We made reservations on a Monday night and was seated at our time. Robert our waiter was amazing. We started with Martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives which Robert took a moment to stuff for us. Tiki Hubby wanted to try the calamari fritte. Jesse kept our water glasses full and brought us a basket of hot cheesy bread. Martini s we're perfect ice cold and made per our request. The calamari was okay came with two dipping sauces - I like mine crispier but Tiki Hubby enjoyed. The star of the meal was the ravioli and since we were sharing Robert brought them out tables side and divided the meal, then grated cheese and pepper!! These ravioli are some of the best light fluffy handmade pockets of mushrooms covered in a creamy mushroom sauce. I like mushrooms- but not usually my 1st choice but that was before I put these in my mouth. We had 5 ravioli each and could not finish them. But we could not leave them behind. We topped our meal with the cannoli. Great atmosphere and service. Star was the food. I will now crave these ravioli until we come back to Reno. read more

Boy, was this a mistake. The to-go portion was about 1/2 less than the dine in portion and the sauce was soupy. It's almost as if I ordered two fettuccine alfredo's from two different restaurants. This is an excellent Italian restaurant. Overall, good service, good food, and beautiful decor. The pasta is all handmade. I had the scallops and risotto. They both tasted amazing, but I got 3 scallops in this huge plate of risotto. They both tasted good, but I found the plate to lack balance due to lack of more protein. My boyfriend has the veal parm and it was amazing, so I was jealous of his order. His sister had the carbonara and the pasta was perfect! The taste was a bit bland for my taste, as I have had amazing carbonara previously. The cannoli for dessert was not good at all. I had one but didn't eat the 2nd because it wasn't satisfying. I found it to taste like a less sweet protein bad. Overall, it's a good place to eat, but a bit lacking in balance on their plates. read more

La Strada is an Italian restaurant located in the El Dorado hotel & casino. I dined here for the second time and the experience was as great as it was the first time, a few years. After being seated, I received water and a large basket of garlic bread. I started my meal with the soup of the day, a broccoli in a creamy/garlic/ soup flavored with barley. I can not begin to say how good it was. It was very unique in taste and texture. I then had a seafood linguini with clams, shrimp, octopus, squid, in a garlic broth. I was very satisfied with with the preparation, taste, along with the presentation. I would recommend this dish for any seafood lover. Ambiance, service, an attentive server (Elisha), and price made this dining experience one I look forward to enjoying in the near future. Let me first start off with the service was good but that is it. My wife and I received the basket of bread. On my first bite, I bit into a piece of bread with a long strand(s) of blond hair. I immediately made mention to our server who said it could have come from the napkin the bread is wrapped in. Received another basket of bread that we did not eat. I ordered calamari and insalata La Strada. My wife ordered the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. The calamari is bland and my salad was just okay. Oddly the salad was split in two when I stated it was my dinner. The fettuccine alfredo simply had no flavor at all. With dinner, I ordered a bottle of Far Niente Chardonnay. It was not properly chilled if chilled at all. Server did get a bucket of ice to place it in therefore waited a bit before making it drinkable. Having come up from Las Vegas the night before where the food is just fabulous, this was the opposite of fabulous food particularly for the price. read more

My wife and I dined here for our Anniversary last week. Our waiter had a great sense of just the right amount of service without being overbearing. I had the veal saltimbocca and my wife the lasagna. We had calamari for an appetizer. I had a Caesar salad. We shared a mid-priced bottle of Chianti. They brought us a small piece of cake to share for desert due to our anniversary and sarinated us. My party of four really enjoyed La Strada. We wanted a relaxing experience in the casino complex. The decorations are delightful! Way over the top! If you love 90s Tuscan esthetic, you'll love this place. It could absolutely benefit from a more modern decor, but come on, who doesn't love that level of cheese when dining at a casino. The service was too notch, super helpful and attentive and our server made spot on wine recommendations for our entrees. We had mostly pasta dishes and the sizes are MASSIVE!!!! I was super happy with my spaghetti carbonara! I would have had plenty to take home leftovers, but was leaving the next day. Overall I'd happily go back to La Strada and enjoy a slow restful meal with good wine and amazing service. read more

La Strada never disappoints! My husband and I recently went there for a date night. Upon arrival the told us it would be a 30 minute wait. No biggie. We head to the casino downstairs to get a drink from the Ringside Bar. Just as we are walking away with our drinks the notification that our table is ready comes in. Literally 6 minutes after walking away from the podium. We are sat in the back corner which was actually awesome as it provided for a secluded dining experience. Our server Jack was the highlight of the night. He was great right from the start, helping us choose a delicious bottle of Merlot. He visited an appropriate amount of times and wasn't overbearing. Vinnie, another employee, was always there to refill our water. My husband ordered the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. It was a generous portion and delicious. The shrimp were not detailed, which was kind of a bummer according to my husband. I ordered the chicken parmigiana. As usual it was delicious and is a classic. Overall, would eat again. read more

I was a little worried about some recent 1 and 2 star reviews but quickly discounted those-huge parties of 14 and 10 on holidays(with kids?!)and another authentic Italian family didn't recommend this restaurant. Our experience last night (7:30pm Sat night)was wonderful. I had signature mushroom raviolis-amazing! I was already thinking about ordering it and heard the woman sitting in back of us exclaim "it was the best raviolis ever" so I knew it was a solid choice.My mom had chicken tortieinni panna prosciutto chicken pistelle,husband had spaghetti carbonara and my dad had the linguine seafood. We all had a side garden salad.Everyone enjoyed their dishes! My husband thought the spaghetti carbonara was good not really a stand out from other Italian restaurants though.Next time he'll have the meat raviolis. The only tiny complaint from my mom was her dish had no chicken at all and I hardly had any mushrooms in my ravioli dish(unlike the pic in advertisements). We all will definitely come back! Fantastic service and our waiter and other wait staff made us feel pampered. We really appreciated the tiramisu dessert for my parents 32 year anniversary. Absolutely beautiful restaurant! Very romantic atmosphere and friendly staff. It is a well established restaurant with a famous menu. The only reason I can't give La Strada 5 Stars is because there are very few gluten-free entree items. Most Italian restaurants will offer gluten free pasta or zucchini noodles, but La Strada did not. So I ordered the Roasted Beet and Artichoke Salad with Tomato Bisque and a side of Creamy Polenta. Everything was very tasty. My husband got the famous Mushroom Ravioli and he was very pleased. read more

We have been going to La Strada on Christmas Eve for years. We are always treated well and enjoy the food, atmosphere and staff. We were not disappointed again. However, we did feel a little rushed this year, maybe because there weren't enough servers/staff?? But we understood, just sad we felt like we had to hurry (even though we didn't). Biggest complaint is that the El Dorado no longer offers valet parking unless you're a high roller. That stinks, as we are local and may consider another place to continue our dinner out on Christmas Eve tradition. We had to park on the 6th floor and walk to the parking garage. That was not ok. Plus it doesn't give us the opportunity to tip the very hard working valet staff. Boo on the El Dorado. I still give La Strada high ranks, as the food/staff and atmosphere usually don't disappoint. Not good. We developed out love of Northern Italian food and drink while one of us was stationed at Aviano Air Base in northeastern Italy, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. It is located in the Aviano municipality, at the foot of the Carnic Pre-Alps or Southern Carnic Alps, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from Pordenone. We were there during The 1976 Friuli Earthquake, magnitude 6.5. We had a recent desire for Northern Italian food and drink.  Drink such as a bottle of Northern Italian Barbaresco.   Produced in Piedmont using Nebbiolo grapes, Barbaresco is a wonderful, dry and tannic red wine with tasty vanilla attributes.   We want Northern Italian food such as raw seasonal vegetables and fruits dipped into Fontina cheese fonduta topped with thin shavings of white truffle (when in season), hot fiori di zucca ripieni which is pumpkin, courgette or squash flowers stuffed with a mixture of meat, parmesan and parsley which is deep-fried very quickly.   For dessert we want a  classic Piemontese dessert of panna cotta, silky smooth and just firm with a gentle wobble, that tastes luxurious and looks beautiful.  We want to put our spoon into that lovely creamy panna cotta, swirling a sauce of in-season fruit and star anise on top, then take a small amount up to slowly oh so slowly savor; then repeat.  Although some of my much younger family and friends prefer for dessert the Southern Italian ice-cold, incandescently yellow Limoncello, the Italian lemon liqueur.  Either way, during dessert we all love to linger a bit longer over our meal, flirt a bit more, ponder life, and just be relaxed. So, we decided to give La Strada in the Eldorado another chance, as they boast "authentic northern Italian cuisine".   Because of its location, the cooking of Northern Italy is more closely related to French, German and Swiss than to peninsular Italian.   Northern Italian cuisine is characterized by a lesser use of olive oil, pasta, tomato sauce, and bread with a heavier reliance on unsalted butter and cheeses for cream sauces.  Northern Italian traditional side dishes consist for the most part of salads made from wild greens collected in the fields, and dressed with walnut oil, as it's too cold for olives to grow in the Valley.  Much of Northern Italy is either steep or at a high altitude. But those highlands have wonderful pastures; herders take their animals up into the mountains after the snows melt, and spend the summers making formaggio d'alpeggio, cheeses from alpine forage. True Fontina cheese is a treat you won't easily forget and is used in Valdostana-style fonduta (fondue), which is often topped with thin shavings of white truffle.   All that is what we expected from La Strada based on its advertising. Didn't happen. With all the actually outstanding restaurant choices Washoe County now has had for several years, local choices that all have fairly consistent excellent customer service, food, wine, alcohol, ambiance,  elegance, high-style, cuisine authenticity, opens your wine bottle of choice at your table, then decants it and then pours from the decanter into your glass (a quality-control must-do with especially the older vintages and even the younger vintages), and cleanliness, well... La Strada just didn't deliver.  The service was worse than our previous visit in May 2018. La Strada's service people went so far below professional, let alone self-styled high-end professional as La Strada boasts in their advertising and charges for in their higher prices, as to repeatedly complain that they were just too busy.   Whatever happened to a self-styled high end restaurant who minute-by-minute mitigates operational issues with smooth and suave planning, training and corrections, never lets a customer see their service people rush or sweat, and never allow their service people to rush the customer out-the-door. Masks were in place, but the servers also complained about that. read more

This was one of the worst meals we have had at the La Strada. They apparently changed chefs again. Scallops risotto was a pricy 42.00 for 3 scallops and crunchy rice in spaghetti sauce. The famous mushroom ravioli were dry and lacking in taste. We immediately asked for more sauce. We used to frequent them, but there are nicer places away from the casino. We end up here tonight as they were open on a Sunday. Service was ok. The drink was OK. read more

I'm disappointed. My last visit, despite the company, I had a fabulous meal. This time, terrific company of Debbie P, I felt the meal was ok. I have learned to ask for a different seating area, I'm not fond of the back dinning area. It's quiet, but I would rather sit closer to the open kitchen was watch the staff. We tried the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing. The disappointment was I believe the waiter was rather new. He brought the wine and said what it was, nothing about the vineyard or notes of the wine. I liked one wine I asked to have the bottle brought to the table for a picture so I could reorder it in the future. All the plates were good, but no real wow dishes. Some food was like warm at best. The bread basket was actually fabulous!! I enjoy the chef here and will try again and next time stick to the regular menu items. read more

It was a lovely evening, made a reservation for two. It wasn't busy and lots of empty tables. When we got there we were seated right away, but the hostess seated us in a little dinky table we barely fit, it's good for one person table, so we asked for the manager for a bigger table. She lead us to a cozy nice wine cellar room, it was perfect table. Our server Gary was so nice, very attentive & funny, he made us very comfortable.Told him we're celebrating for a birthday, he said he has only Tiramisu but no one will sing & he can't sing. We laugh, Gary he gave us all we needed. The food was absolutely delicious. Seafood are fresh and pasta cooked "al dente" the T bone steak aged perfectly and soft. The bread basket are overflowing. We haven't visited Reno in a long time and had the chance to spend the day there recently. For dinner, I wanted something kind of nice and special so we chose La Strada. It's inside the El Dorado Casino. If you park in the garage on Sierra Street you can walk across the pedestrian bridge and end up right near the restaurant. We had reservations and were seated right away upon arrival. This is old school Italian and I love it! We sat in the back in the wine room and it was dark and moody and romantic. I tried the famous mushroom ravioli and they were perfect. My husband had fettucine alfredo which is his favorite - and he said it's the best he's ever had! Caesar Salad nice and cold and crisp. They bring out yummy garlic bread to every table. Extensive wine and cocktails list. I had a great glass of champagne. VERY attentive and friendly service. Overall a WIN. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant! read more
