The steak, chicken and carnitas here are amazing. You can tell the meat is of higher quality than the taco trucks in Turlock. For the steak, they use sirloin if I remember correctly and it is very tender. They do not serve rice with any of their dishes, so the meat portions are very generous! The tacos come either soft or crispy which just means they leave the tortilla on the hot plate just a little longer to toast it, adding additional flavor and texture, then they place a soft tortilla on top. I came to the taqueria with my sister in law because it's supposed to be one of the best taqueria out here in the Modesto/ Turlock area and let me just say what a damn joke the food was not worth the price. The big guy working the window taking orders is rude as hell and they are so damn stingy with their salsa we had to argue over five extra salsa that we asked to be put on the side from our burrito orders now let me just say we won't $88 and your going to argue with your customers over the salsa very unprofessional. I will never eat at this place again I will wait until I get home to San Jose where I can have amazing burritos and tacos from Super taqueria where they don't charge extra for salsa and they are not rude and take your order as you ask without attitude. The prices at super taqueria are nothing like this place way more cheaper for Bay Area. Also last the meat is so damn thick you chew and chew and chew and eventually spit it out disgusting they need better quality meat for the prices they charge. First time diner, did take out, was hecka hungry. I had been told the shrimp tacos were delicious...THAT'S NO LIE!! OMG. Tried several of the usual sides in chips, beans, salsa, rice, and ALL were very tasty and of high quality. The eyes were definitely hungrier than the stomach was empty LOL. Ordered Al Pastor and they served me Carnitas when I said I told her pork then Al Pastor she tried to correct me as to what it really is. Rather then argue I just told her it was fine but she knew I was pist. Few minutes later after I ate the taco I didn't order she arrived with the right one but only a plain taco even though I had to pay extra for the toppings. TBH great food delicious meat but service could use some help. After all I spent 38.00 to feed 3 people tacos. I would eat here again but wouldn't let the same person help me. I been coming here more after finding out the price was much cheaper then there restaurant on mission but now the prices has been raising and I don't know what it is but it doesn't taste the same it's close though. The owner didn't want to remake my order and spoke negatively about the situation to her employee in front of me assuming I could not understand them. Let me start by how this place used to be great! Service was great, food was great, always delicious! A couple of weeks ago I went thru the drive thru and was very specific on my order, so normally they are right on. I drove home, my mom opened her box and it was completely wrong, I opened mine, also wrong. I called and had told the lady my order was wrong, she added something I didn't ask for, and she forgot something's on mine, she for rude on telling me how I wasn't charged for it anyway. That wasn't my point!!! My point was what can u do to fix it? Now that I am home? When those tacos are not $2 tacos??? It is about $30 for FOUR!!!!!!! Being an employee or owners, wife, sister, daughter. Just zip the lip and offer me a way to fix it! She said I was yelling at her and then said she didn't like my attitude! Well I responded to her I don't like yours! A lot of people I know go there.... Well went there. You would be surprised how a few words from a few people who know a lot of people can do for your business. When arguing w your customers! A friend of mine was making tacos at his house with two tortillas and putting a slice of monterey jack cheese in between the two and told me that he had a taco at La Taqueria in Turlock that did this, so that made me want to check this place out. I walked into La Taqueria on a Sunday evening around 5:45pm. I viewed the menu for about 5 seconds before the cashier rolled her eyes and said 'Can I help you?!" I explained to her that it was my first time at the restaurant and my friend had told me about their tacos with cheese. She cut me off mid-sentence and said "ALL of our tacos come with cheese. You can have them crispy or soft." I quickly ordered 3 tacos; grilled beef, grilled chicken and pork along with a drink (they do not provide refills). I handed her a $20 bill and got back $6.00 in change. That seemed a little high to me, but I didn't say anything and sat down at a table. After about a minute, I remembered that I needed to wash my hands. I headed down the hallway to the restrooms and the floors got more slippery the further down the hall I went (I think it is grease on the floor). When I got into the bathroom, I felt very unstable as my feet wanted to slip out from under me standing in one place. I looked down at the floor and there was puddles of water mixed with grease. That is a huge safety concern. An elderly person or child would have hit the ground for sure. I made my way back to my table and as soon as I sat down, they called my number. I went up to the counter and one of the female employees yelled at me and said "SIR, OVER HERE!" I had to move about 2 feet to the left to grab my tacos from her. I guess her legs don't work. When I bit into the first taco, it was tasty, but I noticed there was no cheese like they told me. The chicken was good and so was the beef. The pork was dry, but not bad. Overall the food is very good. I went back up to the cashier to order another taco for a friend of mine to go. This time she asked what kind of pork I wanted, pastor or carnitas. She did not ask this before. I told her I didn't know there was an option and asked her why there was no cheese on my taco. She explained that was an extra charge to include cheese. Again, not explained when I placed my order. They are very high priced for what you get. It is $3.49 per taco. If you want cheese it's an extra $0.50 and if you want cheese, sour cream and guacamole, it's an additional $1.50. Has anyone ever heard of a $5.00 taco? I hadn't until I came here. It's also $1.50 for chips and salsa if you want it. Ridiculous! I am not sure if this place will last because people in this area are used to paying $1.00 - $2.50 per taco. However, I have to give them at least two stars because their food is good. Customer service sucks and their prices are sky high. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Clean, simple menu, tastey, Very friendly staff. I got a carne asada burrito and a Carnitas taco. Carne asada was full of flavor, the beans had good flavor, which is rare in my opinion. Carnitas was good, needed a bit of salt for my taste. I didn't like that it was extra for cheese and other condiments, .50 per item. Not the greatest tables and chairs, But it was clean!! This place is absolutely delicious, I had a grilled chicken taco and a shrimp taco, it was was full of flavor with the salsa, guacamole, sour cream,and to drink I had a strawberry drink which was made fresh. The workers were super nice and explained their menu thoroughly and even gave us samples of their meats to try! So cool! Their tacos are not regular taco truck sized tacos they are super big! So if you're used to getting say 4 little taco truck tacos you might wanna stick to 2 over here. For their burritos they don't add rice so they can add more meat to it which is pretty cool for those who prefer more meat. They even serve shrimp cocktail too! Their aguas frescas are good and they have a wide variety of flavors the only thing about them is that they are very thick, I had to water down my horchata because it was super thick and all I could taste was the consistency of the cinnamon and rice. Yum! La Taqueria offers some of the best tacos and burritos in the Central Valley. The prices are slightly higher than the copious taco trucks in the area, but you get what you pay for. Just about any meat you'd want is available, including tongue and shrimp and the carne asada is char-grilled. The pico de gallo is perfect (mild) and the verde tomatillo salsa (medium) is even better! This taqueria is the kind that puts beans on the tacos (awesome, if you never had them that way). I had a job off west Main one day and was headed to Taco Bell until I saw that La Taqueria was right across the street. I'm soooo glad I decided to try La Taqueria instead.
