This is our Mexican spot when we are around the Strip. So, I blew it this time. I took a lovely photo of our drinks with the chips and salsa. I had the carnitas taco plate and he had the chicken quesadilla. OMG! Nom nom nom!!! It smelled so good. My next thought was to take a video of the fajita cart as it passed by, but my hands were full of taco. I have no food picture or video just the drinks. THAT is a testament to how good it is. You forget the phone. The service is good and fast. Everyone checks on you. Good tejano music. Nice volume to allow for conversation between bites. Next time pictures. I promise!

This restaurant was recommended to me several weeks back and I finally had the opportunity to visit. I ordered the Mole Poblano with Dark brown, sweet mole sauce served over chicken with rice, beans, and tortillas. The chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The rice was delicious as were the beans. However, the mole sauce lacked serious flavor and was neither sweet nor spicy. Mole Pablano is one of my favorite dishes and one I often order and unfortunately this dish fell well short of my expectation. This restaurant is very popular and is loved by many. Its authentic design resembles restaurants often seen in Mexico. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and very attentive throughout my meal, which was appreciated.

I really wanted to like this place because it's such a nostalgic concept, especially if you grew up watching El Chavo del Ocho. Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. It was honestly some of the blandest Mexican food I've had, and nothing we ordered really stood out. It also felt a bit like a tourist trap. A simple frozen margarita was around $20, and the menu seemed pretty limited. I've since heard they're mostly known for their giant tortas, so maybe that's what they're best at. The service was fine, but the overall ambiance felt a little off. There was also a noticeable smell throughout the restaurant that made it seem like there might be plumbing issues. Sadly, the nostalgia wasn't enough to make up for the food, and I don't see myself coming back.

I have been here twice and each time the staff and service has been outstanding. The food is delicious with huge portions. The atmosphere and ambiance are nostalgic for anyone who grew up watching Chespirito and El Chavo del Ocho. You will love this place!

I came here for the first time yesterday. So damn good. I had the 2 taco plate with a grilled jalapeño. 1 chorizo taco and 1 carnita. Both were so tasty. My sone got fajitas and his girlfriend got a torta. Everything was great along with the service. Born & raised Vegas. Can't believe I never came here. Love it

Sunday around 4pm the place wasn't as busy as it normally is. It was our first time and we had great service. I wanted a cantarito and it turned out to be extra large. I had a mini torta with French fries and it was outstanding. We ordered the breaded shrimp for my toddler and my husband got flautas, everything was so good we almost finished everything on the plate. Authentic cooking in a cool theme chavo del ocho place. I want to go back for a torta de jamón and to try whatever comes out in a cart and makes an ambulance sound, so fun!

Cute place with El Chavo theme all over the restaurant. Service was good. Got the asada nachos as an appetizer and they were the best thing i ate there. I got the carnitas plate. Came with 3 tortillas. I feel like it was missing a side of salsa. The agua frescas are delicious. I would go again for the nachos if im ever in town again.

La Vecindad, is a family restaurant that is casual and the theme is after the very popular Mexican situation, comedy show "El Chavo del Ocho." the staff dresses as many of the characters from the show. In addition to the white stuff balloon artist creates, complementary, balloon art and deliver them to diners. We were celebrating a birthday and were pleasantly surprised with the celebration the staff created. Everyone was happy with their mail. I enjoyed Carne En Su Hugo, my husband had Chilaquiles with eggs, friends the fajitas which looked really good. We ordered various dishes and everyone was content with their order. We all let very full and happy. They also have house-made frescas and Mexican Coke. In the entrance of the restaurant next to the cashier is a small gift shop featuring items from the television program.

5/5! The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh, authentic, and perfectly seasoned. The portions were generous, the service was great, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Definitely a spot I'd come back to and recommend to anyone craving good Mexican food! Everything about our experience was great. Only if you uber make sure you pick the restaurant and not the cantina. They are close together but it's a bit of a walk if you are not able to walk any distance. The food was amazing. Best mole I've ever eaten. Loved every bite. Even our 4 year old loved her food. I give it the highest recommendation I can. You won't be disappointed.

My children took me out to La Vecindad. They said they had been there and the food was good and good prices and they weren't wrong. We went on a super busy night and I the staff seemed a little overwhelmed. We ordered an appetizer that didn't arrive until after we were done with our dinner. They had also made the dinner plates with some lacking items that normally come with it and they forgot a drink we ordered till we were about half way done with dinner. I do think this place has some good food and good pieces but I'd advise going on a night they aren't that busy

From the moment I pulled up to La Vecindad I knew I picked the right place for a budget friendly family style restaurant off the strip. The decor brought to a nostalgic South American spot where families go for not just the food but the entertainment. The night I chose they had karaoke that hadn't started yet, a patron was a recording artist from Mexico. The waitress made us feel at home even with the celebrity on site. Our food was delicious and plentiful. I walked the entire restaurant to take in the splendid and comical decorations and photographs adorning the walls. I hope to return or hope they open another restaurant in my native Bay Area. read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Monday night. The food here is great, big portions, freshly made and so flavorful. The service is speedy and very friendly. The ambiance and decor is very nice and chill. We dined on the shrimp quesadilla, chicken chimichanga, mix fajitas and the tres leche cake. The quesadilla was huge and filling, the chimichanga was packed and fried to perfection and the fajitas were plentiful. The meal here was definitely worth the trip and the large stand alone parking lot was a bonus. read more

I'd give them 10 stars if I could. The hubby had been wanting to try this place out, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and sat very quickly. We loved the El Chavo del Ocho decor it was amazing. Food amazing, staff amazing... shout out to the El Chavo del Ocho team, and other patrons seemed to be having the same wonderful experience as we did. We'll be back and with vengeance, lol. With the prices of everything going up, when I go out to eat I'd rather support a small locally owned business. This is a very cute hole in the wall restaurant in a sketchy looking plaza. Adds to the charm. I've been to businesses on the other side of this plaza (mostly Korean places) and on this side of the plaza it's most Latin/Hispanic businesses. The outside is very kitschty and cute, inside even cuter! They have tons of mini pinatas for decorations. I even spotted a Naruto one! But what about the food? It's great! As soon as we sat down they gave us free chips and salsa. The chips are thick and crunchy and really holds up to the salsa, which was chunky and had a good kick. Waters were served within seconds in cute mini agua frecas jugs. Our table got an albondigas (meatball) soup, which comes with tortillas ($13), chicken quesadilla HUGE ($15) and huarache with asada ($14). Service was very friendly and food came out quick. Albondigas had lots of flavor and not too much filler in the meatballs. We counted a total of 8 good sized meatballs. The chicken quesadilla was so stuffed my friend had to eat it with a knife and fork. And similarly for my huarache, it was piled up so high, no other way to eat it! I prefer them to sopes, the shell stayed crisp until the last bite. I was surprised that were were random vendors walking around trying to sell their wares. I remember in Mexico and other places I have travelled that vendors would often come up to you while you ate to try to sell you stuff. One guy had handmade bracelets, another lady asked to take our photo, and another guy played the guitar. We were pretty much ready to go by that point so we politely declined and they were not pushy at all. I'm not sure if they are employed by the restaurant or not, but we did see the musician outside asking other people if they wanted to hear him play. Their menu is pretty big and they have an AYCE taco selection for $20. Their tortillas are thick, and the regular price for their tacos are about $4-5 so if you can eat more than 4 (I'm sure I could) this would be a good deal. Looks like they are adding in a margarita bar soon as well. read more

Don't know where to start, but first off the food is amazing here and the service is excellent as well ! The portions are huge so be ready to eat and they have a cool torta challenge as well. I'm born and raised in LA so this really reminded of all the amazing Mexican food in la except this is nearby my home and a hidden gem !! Best Mexican food hands down, for a second I thought I was in Mexico wow.. will definitely be back !! General review of two separate visits, both on Saturdays and equally fantastic. We chose to visit on the weekend since they only serve Menudo then. Both times we came for breakfast around opening time and both times we had a brief wait. The place is packed all the time and it serves as testament to how authentic and delicious the food and atmosphere is. There is live music in the larger dining room so it can get quite loud. On the weekends, there are vendors that walk around the restaurant selling little trinkets. There is also a photographer that can take your photo as a souvenir. My go to dish here is Menudo (again, only available on weekends) but they have a pretty extensive menu ranging from tortas to tacos to their viral Molcajete challenge. Both times I ordered Menudo and their specialty coffee, Cafe de Olla. Cafe de Olla - 10/10. I had my first one here and have never looked back. The coffee is brewed with Piloncillo and spices then served in clay mug with the rim covered in sugar with a stick of cinnamon. It's sweet, pungent, and the spices pair perfectly with the coffee. It comes sweetened and does not have cream in it. Refills are also NOT free, they are an additional $1.75 but well worth it. On Thursdays, the coffee is served with a Concha. Menudo - 10/10. I'm slightly biased here because I love tripe but their Menudo also includes a pork hock which gives the soup a rich hearty flavor and added collagen. The portion size is decent, lots of tripe, hominy, and the hock along with flour tortillas and an assortment of accompanying spices. I also like how they serve the diced onion and cilantro on the side for those who would prefer to exclude them. Definitely give them a visit. I was slightly intimidated walking in my first time since I don't speak Spanish but I was able to order just fine and they took great care of me. There's no other place in town I would go to for authentic Mexican food and will be back very soon! read more

The Mexican restaurant has a wide selection of authentic food! We started with the warm chips and fresh salsa. We ordered Agua Fresca de Pepino! It had the recipe amount of sweet and pepino! I ordered huevo con chorizo. The chorizo was flavorful. I'd venture to think they either make it themselves or they buy it from a carniceria that makes it. The tortillas were fresh as well. My family ordered Fideo soup, Chicken Flautas, and a full size Torta de Milanesa. Each plate was authentic and superb. My daughters love home made Mexican food and they rarely like to eat at Mexican restaurants but this was the exception! We enjoyed everything. We finished off our meal with Flan and Churros and we were not disappointed! The server was kind and quick. The place was clean and incredibly decorated. For those of us who grew up watching El Chavo del Ocho, you'll enjoy the various places of which I took pictures. There was also a photographer who offered a free picture and a couple of additional photos for $10 each. We enjoyed our experience so much that I bought one of the pictures. read more

Came to Vegas for the week and was craving chilakiles. Found this place on Yelp and ya'll definitely did not disappoint by recommending this cute place. I got the chilakiles, and my daughter got the mini torta, let me tell you when they say mini, it's not mini at all! It came with a side of fries and with the name on it, very cute. Their cafe de olla was delicious!! For desert we got the churros with an ice cream scoop. Besides the great food the decor was sooooo cute! It's all decorated like the "vecindad" from el chavo del 8. The servers are dressed like the characters and their service is great! Highly recommend when in Vegas! read more

The place is a very cool atmosphere and the burrito was tasty. 2 stars because the chips taste like they came out of a bag. They charge a fee to use your credit card. And lastly, I ordered a bean and cheese burrito which is $10. I asked it wet with red sauce and was charged an additional five dollars for some red enchilada sauce port on top of it they lost me on that one. Over all a decent dinner. Shrimp enchiladas were good Vegetable enchiladas were good Rice and beans were average. The whole beans were better than the refried. Dinner was served luke- warm...but it seems most places serve at this temp for some reason. Maybe real vs. plastic plates would help? Waiter was great. Ambiance was different. It's a little difficult to find because you see the cantina first. So pretty. It's right dow the parking lot! It takes you strait to an old time Mexico looking building. Colorfully painted. You can tell you're in for a treat! They said the wait was about 45 minutes but it didn't take more than 20 mins to get in. The greatest are very friendly, the men wear the chespirito costume, but it seemed that the only other person dressed in costume was the DJ. He donned a black and white Beetle juice type outfit. I really wanted to see someone dressed as le Chilindrina, Dr. girafales, or Dona Florinda! I still had a lot of fun. They were playing la Banda El Mexicano! Makes it more fun. Right away we got chips and salsa free! Very tasty Salsa, it was Mother's Day and they offered the moms a free shot of tequila in a jarrito! Party is getting started. We ordered the queso fundido, it was brought out on a fire engine trolly with the sound effects! The tortillas are handmade and we got a bunch of them! We were a party of 6. We had Michelads, margaritas and jarrito de agua Fresca. The Jarrito was perfect , de mango and not too sweet! Tasted very mangoey! Mmm! The food was good, we got different orders! The sopes looked good, I got the torta de milanesa, my husband got a taco plate. Don't get the cabesa, not the greatest! My friend had the carnitas plate. We came on a Sunday and there was a 30 min wait. But when I tell you the wait was worth it im not lying!! The moment you arrive the staff are very welcoming and all dressed as chavo del ocho characters. The food was delicious I ordered caldo de albondigas the corn tortillas are hand made and very good and hubby ordered chilaquiles rojos. Cafe de olla is delicious and also ordered agua de pepino. Try the Mexican corn appetizer with it's crumbly cotija cheese, chili, lime, and mayo on top of charred corn kernels. It's in 'esquites' form, which means it's not left on the cob like 'elote' is. Their specialty, nachos, are also well seasoned and the chips are freshly made on site. What drew me in to this restaurant was a past appearance on the Maury Povich Show, where I took a paternity test for someone who claimed she was my daughter. The end result? I was cleared, so Maury pointed at me while telling her that he's "Not yo' daddy." And so I visit Nacho Daddy on occasion, strictly for celebratory reasons. Birria nachos are excellent, made with a high quality shredded beef with pickled onion, cilantro, sour cream, cheese, and lime on top of a stack of chips. Having birria without consommé was new, but this one didn't really need it with all the flavors jumping out. Another recommendation is the cheeseburger nacho, an Americanized version with ground beef, bacon, cheddar, jack, queso, onions, tomato, and lettuce. The 'mini nachos' are perfectly sized for a light meal but if you're hungry, get the full size order which is huge and shareable. This location has been in business for 17 years now and there's plenty of seating in a nice, clean atmosphere.

Drove 6 hours to Vegas to celebrate my 19th anniversary with my wife and 7 other family member. I had come here about a year ago by myself and the service and food were phenomenal. The salsa was one of a kind I may add. Fast forward to a couple days ago my wife and I come in and are seated upon entering which left a good impression. However I usually don't complain about chips and salsa but man that salsa was COLD, talk about being reused from the refrigerator. My wife was disappointed too, unfortunately the salsa seems to have changed and has less flavor now. I ordered the carne asada platter, asking for a side of salad, my wife ordered the quesadilla. Pretty good portions and food was tasty but man, the service lacked. I had to ask for tortillas, and my salad halfway through the food. I was not given a side salad but a plate of veggies, frozen nearly. My wife and I are glad we got aguas frescas because it's not like anyone was around to give us a refill. (No refills on Aguas frescas). I respect waiters because I was one back in 2005 working my rear end off trying to afford a nice ring for my now wife. I know how it works and this is not how. The couple check ups I got were brief and I didn't even want to bug anymore. As for the ambiance the music was very loud. My wife and I practically yelled at eachother all night. I then ordered the I believe strawberry cheesecake icecream. I straight up lost my appetite, a gum in the icecream, seriously? DISGUSTING. Not one complaint during dinner service at all, I only really bugged for my food items that had taken longer than normal but c'mon. The tip is added on for large parties which is why they probably has terrible service. My wife and I paid and left which was the best part (leaving). I absolutely LOVED La Vecindad and highly recommend checking it out when you're in Las Vegas! We did have to wait about 45 minutes to be seated, which wasn't the most enjoyable because it was so hot outside. We ended up waiting in our cars with the AC on. But I have to say--the wait was completely worth it! The moment you walk inside, the atmosphere is so much fun. The restaurant is busy and lively, with great music, colorful decorations, and so many details inspired by El Chavo del Ocho. I grew up watching the show, so being here brought back so many childhood memories. There are paintings and decorations from the show everywhere--even the bathroom is decorated! Our family was seated in the Escuelita room, and we had an absolute blast. The waiters and staff are even dressed as characters from the show, and they play music from El Chavo del Ocho. It really feels like you've stepped into La Vecindad! Despite how busy the restaurant was, the customer service was great. Our waiter was friendly, patient, helpful, and gave us some excellent food recommendations. And the FOOD! Everything we tried was delicious and seasoned to perfection. The café de olla was amazing--not overly sweet and just perfect. The molcajete was delicious and HUGE; it is definitely large enough for two people to share. La Vecindad Restaurant in Las Vegas might attract El Chavo del Ocho fans with its themed decor, but overall, it falls short of being a memorable experience. The decorations are minimal--a few photo props and character cutouts, a small replica of the washing area from the show, and some paintings on the outside wall. The only real novelty was the iconic El Chavo barrel inside the restaurant, which my son enjoyed going in and out of, just like El Chavo does in the show. While these touches are nice, they feel sparse and don't fully capture the spirit of the beloved set. Unfortunately, the food was also a letdown. The flavors were bland, and while the dishes were edible, they lacked any real taste or effort. The service was equally disappointing. The waitress dressed as Doña Clotilde (La Bruja del 71) didn't have a very serving attitude; she seemed disinterested in helping and even refused a simple request to add beans to my son's chorizo and egg taco--something you'd expect any restaurant to accommodate. The staff costumes attempt to capture the essence of the characters, but they miss the mark. Stopped by this place on a recommendation and had quite the mixed experience. My wife decided to go with the Carne en su jugo, expecting the usual soupy delight we've come to love. However, what arrived was a dish so thick it was closer to salsa than soup, which was a bit of a letdown. While it packed a decent punch in terms of spice, the unexpected thickness made it a challenge to enjoy as we had hoped. On the flip side, I opted for the kiko plater, and that was an outright hit--totally amazing and made the meal for me. We also dabbled in trying their tortas, which turned out to be very good, though their names escape me now. It's a shame about the Carne en su jugo; that dish alone threw off our groove a bit. I had a very disappointing experience at this Mexican restaurant. The service was terrible from the moment we sat down. It took a long time for anyone to even come take our order, and when they finally did, the staff seemed rushed and uninterested in helping us. Unfortunately, our food order was completely messed up. Several items were missing, and some dishes were made wrong. When we told the staff about the mistake, they didn't seem apologetic and took a long time to fix it. By the time the correct food came out, the rest of our table was already done eating. Overall, the experience felt unorganized and frustrating. I loved loved LOVED this place. Looks small from the outside but don't be fooled, you walk in to another dimension. The theme is Chavó del 8, the show many of us Hispanics grew up on. The staff is beyond friendly, they dress up as the characters and check up multiple times though our your staying. There is a cute picture area and have a magician in there going table to table entertaining you and the kids if you bring any. Your kid will leave this place so so happy with a free animal ballon they will be gifted. Now the food, the wait wasn't too long once you were in, the food was also very delicious, made well. I love love this place for so many reasons: 1. Service. Brenda is the best, always smiling, eager to answer any question and suggest delicious options. 2. Food. Authentic Mexican dishes, huge portions & always adding new flavors to the menu. The concept of "Comida Corrida" is great. It's like fast food in terms of it's ready pretty soon but they're healthy options. 3. Atmosphere. Anytime I am there, it brings me childhood memories. "La Vecindad del Chavo", most of Latin kids grew up watching it. Love the music as well, nice songs selection. 4. Price. La Vecindad is a cute restaurant with a twist in classic Hispanic humor of a classic sitcom show that many of us grew up watching. A sense of comfort and familiarity to many. We ordered the Flautas and Enchiladas Poblanas, both were very good. The salsa that came with the chips and salsa was the right amount of spice. I went here a few weeks ago and loved it so I went back today and had the mid sized Cuban sandwich, it was fantastic delicious and huge!!! With restaurant prices elevating, this place is one of the more affordable low-key eating options in the area.
