I am sadden to read the most recent reviews about this place. I had no clue about this place until my husbae picked up a few pizzas Friday evening. Well how we got here. Friday, I had tons of errands to complete and I had not eaten all day. I arrived to the beach early afternoon, but was still on the go. My husbae arrived about 6pm and I asked him to pick up something fast. One pizza spot (a good one) was near, but was closed due to remodeling I believe. So he kept walking and stumbled across this place. He came back with two pizzas, both with pepperoni, something simple. Now maybe I was super starving, maybe maybe not, but this pizza was not bad at all. He did add some crush red pepper to one and I ate about three slices. The pizza was thin (not super flat) and the crust was soft (had a lil puff to it). I did not eat all of the crust, but again it was not bad. Now is this my favorite ever, not by far. But if I had to go here again, I would check them out. I am not sure how much my husbae paid for the pizzas, but we both agreed it was good. My family and other partygoers enjoyed the pizza too. We finished those pizzas within one hour. Check them out if you are in the area. After checking them out later on YELP, I see they have a coupon deal once you check in. I want all of the ricotta!! This spot currently has free delivery on Yelp and my order always comes faster than I was expecting it. This is my go-to weeknight "oh crap I forgot to go grocery shopping" delivery order. I get the bianca pizza. It has fresh garlic, olive oil, ricotta cheese and mozzarella. I think it also has another type of cheese in there too, not totally sure. Sometimes I'll add some italian sausage to it, but they have forgotten to put it on there in the past so I try not to get excited about any extra toppings until it arrives. The crust is thinner than I prefer, but I keep ordering for the ricotta. This pizza is covered in little mounds of ricotta and it makes me so happy. Since the crust is thinner and not the star of my pizza, I don't find that it makes great leftovers compared to other pizza places. This is definitely best when eaten hot and fresh. It isn't my favorite pizza ever and I haven't gone out of my way to visit the location or to take someone there. I ordered half margarita and half cheese with olives. The margarita side was not cheesy at all. No tomatoes, barely any mozzarella cheese or basil and very oily. The olive side was too thin not enough cheese or crust and extremely oily. We also ordered mozzarella cheese sticks and you can tell by the smell of them that the oily hadn't been changed in weeks. First off I don't leave 5 star reviews. My brother and I ate here, ordered the large supreme and a greek salad. The food was good, did not stay so cannot speak about the service. Pizza tasted like pizza! Not like chemicals, salt or too much bread. It's funny/sad seeing reviews pitting a mom & pop place against chains. These guys use real ingredients, they don't need to salt/over season their ingredients or crust. I had seen the pictures of the pizza at La Vera and was looking forward to giving it a shot at some point. He didn't ask for a drink order at all while taking our order and I had to suggest we get drinks to him. They were out of mozzarella sticks and steak for the cheese steak. Another sign. RUN LANCE. But no. We ordered a pizza, a couple of sandwiches, and some cheese bread sticks. Their drinks are only cans, no fountain. I hate that. The cheese bread sticks came out with a couple of slices of mozzarella melted onto them. They were OK. The pizza is a thicker crust and could in no way, shape or form be considered NY style. The cheese and crust were OK but the sauce was just odd. It wasn't terrible, maybe there was too much. Either way, neither my wife or I liked the pizza but my youngest son did. He thought it was great. So, maybe it's a matter of taste. But I would not go back for pizza. My oldest son ordered a ham and cheese sandwich that was fine but not great. Since they didn't have the cheese steak, I ordered the chicken philly. It was the worst sandwich I've ever had and I've had a bunch of convenience store sandwiches through the years. This one sucked. The chicken was dry, the "cheese" was scarce and the overall taste was completely bland. It was awful. The decor of the place was nonexistent. They just have some plastic table cloths on each table and there was no ambiance at all, as another reviewer noted. The service was terrible. The boys had a couple of sodas and finished those up quickly so we asked for some water. The dude took five minutes to come back with the water (only one other table came in while there) and then decided to pour the water into the same glass the kids had their soda in. Nothing like water with a little Dr. Pepper mixed in. Yummy. No one asked how our meal was or if we needed anything else. I had to get up and get the parmesan cheese from the soda refrigerator. Bad bad bad. Sometimes when you have a negative experience at a place, you try to find some redeeming quality on which to focus. From beginning to end, this was just a bad experience with nothing positive about which to talk. It's easily a one star experience but I have softened in my old age and will go with two stars. I ordered from La Vera for the first time tonight, order delivery. The cheesesteak for $7.99 said it came with onion lettuce tomato and mayo, the special instructions were no onion. But it didn't come with lettuce or tomato either, just steak and cheese on a French baguette, never saw a cheesesteak on this kind of bread before. I also ordered a side of fries for $1.99. The amount of fries was plenty but they were greasy and tasted like they were cooked in old oil. I don't think I will be ordering from here again. Good Pizza ... we found this place as we were leaving Walmart and craving pizza ... Yelp told us they were open for another 33 minutes. As New Yorkers we're always a little skeptical about pizza outside of of our state, but this was very good. The woman at the counter made us a fresh pizza with only 24 minutes on the clock and, believe it or not, we were out of there before 10pm.
