Dear Yelp reviewers, My family and I have been going to Dr. Guido since 2008. Today was the last day. All because of their contact assistant, I don't know her name and don't care too. The front desk lady is awesome, polite, and knowledgeable. The eye glass assistant is also nice but I don't really care for her too much either. They used to have a younger lady that did her job much better. The doctor is wonderful. There isn't one bad thing I could say about him. You never have to wait long and appperantly they give you a voucher for your car. Which I just found out today and have been going there since 2008, but maybe it's a new thing. Now on to the reason my family and I will never go there again. My daughter had an appt. today to get contacts. I made this appt. a month ago. We got there, she saw the doctor and the contact assistant lady. It was almost 90 minutes and I had to go move my car. The nice front desk lady told me she had a voucher. By the time I came back my daughter was done. The contact lady took me to the back and was instructing me on how well my daughter did taking in and out the contacts. She said my daughter did well putting them in but not taking them out. She said she was teaching her how to take put her contacts without a mirror. I'm thinking "why would someone who has never had contacts before not look on the mirror." But I was like okay. Then she was saying the doctor wants her to wear one day contacts. I was thinking "how much would that be!?" Then we went into another room with all the glasses. I asked her why can't she wear the same type of contacts I wear. She really couldn't give me a answer all she kept repeating was that's what the doctor wants. I'm like we'll I'm the customer and I should be able to choose what product I want to purchase. The cost of these lovely contacts would be starting out at $569.00, for 365 contacts. Then with my insurance and the rebate it went down to $269.00 or something around there. I'm not exactly sure on the prices. So I told her twice I'm not using my insurance for the contacts or the exam. I'm paying out of pocket and using the insurance for the glasses. Which I never did get help for and had to repeat several times. I guess they don't want any money. Then she went to the back to loudly complain about me and how difficult I'm being to the other staff members. "Yes I'm a customer who wants a different product, soooo difficult." Before she went over to the back she made sure she told me the ones I use might be discontinued so she would have to see if my daughter could have those. With a snotty attitude. While the lady was in the back my daughter told me she kept treating her like she was 4 years old. Keep reading it gets worst She came back...oh and low and behold the contacts I use aren't discontinued, big shocker! So snotty contact lady huffed and puffed about that. She has previously asked my daughter to take out her contacts. Which my daughter forgot because she was upset about her experience with her. So my daughter went to grab the mirror and she told her no don't use the mirror. My daughter was struggling to take out the contact. She got out one but was having difficulty with the last one. The snotty lady kept telling put your up and not up oh now the contact is on the side of your eye. So I grab the mirror and say here just pinch it out. The snotty gave me a look like how dare you. I asked her and pointed to the contact already out and said "are you going to keep these?" Snotty lady said "no of course not!" Then I told her "then it doesn't matter how it gets taken out!" That's when all Hell broke lose!! Haa haaa.....I'm laughing now but not then. I told her I'm not taking this shit, do you want me to take my fucken' business else where?" Snotty lady told me I think that would be best and that I was abusing her. Haha haaa.... Go fuck yourself lady! As I was using explicit toward her Dr. Guido was walking behind me, he didn't say anything. Wither because this happens a lot or just doesn't care. I don't think they care...because no one apologized to me. I asked if someone else could help me because we still nee glasses. Nope! We all left and of course I have to go back to being back the voucher I have on my car. So I go back and talk nicely to the front desk lady and ask if I owe anything. She said the co-payment, so as I was telling her that I don't normally yell like that but she pushed me to my limits and beyond. The snotty lady was still there saying she doesn't take abuse. Ummmm....I'm not talking to you! So shut the fuck up. The front desk lady told me I didn't need to apologize for her. I'm thinking why don't you apologize for her behaviour? So...I'm no longer spending money here. :) read more

I came to La Verne Optometry for the first time and chose this optometry based on its great Yelp reviews. I did my research and I will start by saying Dr. Guido is a wonderful optometrist. I enjoyed the attention he gave me and how detailed he was during his visit. Unfortunately, I rated Dr. Guido's optometry a 2 star, not for his service but that of his office staff. I've never met such unprofessional people. I will acknowledge I was the last appointment of the day which was delayed because of a previous client. That wasn't the problem. The problem was his office staff rushed me out. I didn't get to chose glasses or place my contact order. I was told I would get a call the following day to discuss prices and balance. As such, I received a call the following day and was once again rushed over the phone. I told the receptionist to please slow down as this was my first time seeing a doctor within the VSP network. I expressed my discontent with the customer service and she apologized. Although she did slow down she was not anymore thorough. She didn't confirm the items I needed till I asked. How could I say yes to something I had no idea what I was ordering. A few days later I get a call stating my contacts were in. So genuinely, I go back to the office to pick them. Upon arrival I was asked by an office clerk who never got off her chair to greet me but rather shouted through a closed glass window "how can I help you". I said I'm here to pick up my contacts, still talking through a closed glass window. She then asked, still sitting "what's your name". It was the most unwelcoming and unprofessional greeting and vibe ever. She finally got off her chair to retrieve my order and walked over. That is when I asked her, " in the event that these contacts don't work for my vision, can I bring them back? I advised her my visit had a vision change. She said, she had to ask the doctor. She quickly comes back and states she is giving me samples to try out. I was so angered, and I told her I would have to come back again and said this should have been done when I left my initial visit. She just stared and me and never apologized or acknowledge they had made a mistake. I will never be returning to this office. Like I said, the doctor was great but his staff is going to drag his business down. I know I wasn't the only client that was treated this way because I saw how there staff was talking to elderly people. Perhaps my experience was not good because I was not an old client as all the other clients who rated this optometry. But I hope this review is viewed by Dr. Guido so he can have his office staff stand by his mission statement placed in the waiting area. read more
