What a surprise Labebe was! The place is beautiful inside and I felt severely underdressed. You can really have a romantic date there and celebrate special occasions. Speaking of dates, it was "date night" when my family ended up there, and the 3-course deal (especially the one that includes wine) was really good. The service is also fitting for the place-- pleasant and attentive. As for the food, there were endless compliments all around the table. Everything was beautifully plated and the variety was interesting, considering it is classified as Mediterranean (Lebanese to be specific) yet also offers fried calamari, linguini, risotto and paella, and prepares them all deliciously. Labebe was a hidden gem for me. I would not have known about it from driving by and no one ever told me about it. Way too expensive... You can go to a steakhouse in Manhattan that's been around for over 125 years and get a meal for 40% less than this place in Central Jersey... You can get a 12 oz filet for $15 less than they are charging for an 8 oz fillet here... It's not enrobed in Gold leaf either.... So I've heard nothing but great things about this spot that has a been a staple in town for a decade now and they seem to be going thru a rebranding - made it in during this soft launch of their new concept. I'll call it a Mediterranean steakhouse with a new America - Asian twist. Unique and expansive menu!! This Chef and owner combo is pretty dangerous with insane talent. You can tell there's a very intentional effort sourcing quality ingredients - notably the fresh seafood, homemade breads/desserts & prime meat. This space is HUGE too! Awesome bar area offset from the dining room with a massive patio and even a loft. This appears to only be the beginning of this transformation - first the menu and then some remodeling of the interior layout & design. So glad I finally made it in for as many times as I've driven by. This place was spot on and a great experience! The service was great from start to finish. We started with Spanish octopus (delicious choice). We got the Smokey old fashioned drinks (drink in a trunk) and they were cool as well as tasty. Our entrees were the mixed grill and crab stuffed lobster. Both were very tasty and delicious. We even had a talented magician visit our table and do some tricks. Yes you heard right, a cool magician stopped by and entertained us! I visited Labebe Prime for the first time after a coworker recommended it to me. The front parking lot is a bit small, but they have additional parking behind the building. This is an upscale eatery with a dimly lit dining room that makes for a pleasing ambiance. I had a reservation and requested a booth, but they provided us with a table instead (this is not a complaint, merely a fact). They brought warm bread with a tomatoish basilish butter (I'm actually unsure what it consisted of but it was delicious). To start I ordered shrimp cocktail (it was a healthy size but not a prawn by any means; it was de shelled all the way down the tail which I loved). The cocktail sauce that accompanied it was ok. For dinner I had the stuffed angry lobster and it was amazing (the tail was a good size with a TON of crab meat on top and they poured the spicy cream sauce over it table-side). It's served with seasonal vegetables (they were ok but they could've been better seasoned). I also had the grilled artichoke hearts (this was my favorite side; they had fantastic flavor and artichokes are such a meaty veggie vibe). I also tried the creamed spinach (it was good but I've had better). For dessert I tried their vanilla ice cream and it was average. To drink I had the pomegranate margarita and it was excellent (perfectly balanced, great flavor, and strong). It's not my favorite upscale eatery that I've tried, but I'd go back with good company. I had high expectations from this place, especially given the price range. Unfortunately, we were disappointed from the moment the appetizers hit the table. We ordered calamari Ferrari, chicken lollipop and Ceasar salad for starters. The calamari was soft and was a generous portion but the sauce that came with it was lacking. It was almost like a bechamel sauce which lent no additional taste the the dish. The chicken lollipos were fall off the bone tender, but again, came with another white sauce that did nothing. Tony's Ceasars salad was enjoyable le in the beginning... until the HUGE amount of cheese that covers the salad (which, to my disappointment was arugula instead of the traditional romaine lettuce) gets to you and overwhelms you. We ordered the Paella and the $110 Cowboy ribeye. My heart sank when the ribeye came because for a steakhouse, this was a lonely steak on a plate with no presentation... and no grill marks either, definitely not what I expect from a steakhouse. It was tender, but not flavorful. We ordered the Mac and cheese as a side since the $110 did not come with even 1 side dish. It was mediocre. I The Paella? Honestly misleading because it gave no hint of Paella at all. It was risotto with seafood, served on a plate. Not in a Paella pan and most definitely not a trace of soccarrat, which gives Paella its texture and flavor. They did provide us with palate cleansers before serving our desert. We ordered the basic chocolate lava cake.. a scoop of vanilla ice cream would have made it perfect, but we made do with the whipped cream. The whole flavor profile really confused us. Until the very minute, I am u sure what cuisine this really is. They claim they are Mediterranean, Asian and New American. ​I really wish they would focus on one and create dishes with distinct and bold flavors. Although the food was lacking, the staff were nice and attentive. We drove an hour away from Philly to try this restaurant on Christmas Eve and it did not disappoint in any way. The atmosphere on the inside of the restaurant is gorgeous and the staff are all very attentive and genuine. We started with drinks which there is a WIDE selection of. I ordered the daiquiri martini and it was one of the best martinis I've ordered at a restaurant. Not overly sweet, strong but not straight liquor, and great flavor. We ordered spicy scallop, spicy crab and spicy tuna tacos as an appetizer and it was my absolute favorite thing on the menu. I am a big sushi/seafood person and devoured these. For another appetizers, we ordered the short rib waffle cone tower which was aesthetically unique and SO TASTY. Such a fun choice and not just for show, the flavor was even better than the display. Lastly we ordered the roasted bone marrow which we ate some of on the crostini and left some of it to eat with our steak. I loved the lemon zest on top and there was so much bone marrow to use. I've ordered this at other restaurants that charge a ton of money for a tsp worth of food and here they served us two massive bones with at least 4-5 tablespoons or more of bone marrow. For dinner, we ordered the porterhouse special for 2. The flavor was phenomenal, it was cooked perfectly and it was massive. Enough for two AND l leftovers. Tasted amazing with the bone marrow on top. We ordered the berry crème brûlée for dessert and we were also given a complementary shot that tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The crème brûlée was unique and my boyfriend was a huge fan of the flavor/texture of it. They handed out a gift card at the end for Christmas as well. My version of the worst Experience & tasteless food after visiting this restaurant for a very special birthday occasion. I must first say the staff excluding the owner was phenomenal. Let's start off with the appetizer. I ordered lobster wonton very bland. It needed seasoning. I requested a spicy sauce that absolutely gave it a much better taste & for my main course, I selected the colossal spicy Crab cake.This had a very different peculiar taste. Something was very off with the crab taste. My service manager was excellent. He suggested I try something else I chose the spicy lobster, to my taste under season and a little rubbery by this time I wanted the check & I was ready to leave. The service manager recommended something else my guess recommended the check and just mentioned I was very unhappy with the food. A gentleman came out acknowledged my guess never asked me of my concerns. Just mentioned dinner was on him. I look very surprised as he rushed away. That wasn't our intentions. Then I hear a loud voice call my guest by their name & blurred out. Dinner was $269. Dinner was on them and stated make sure you leave a tip dinner was $269. And repeated himself very loudly to make sure you leave a tip. I was appalled , This appeared to be an upscale restaurant I was very shocked by the character of this person. I was looking forward to a beautiful evening, beautiful food, and drinks never indicated we weren't paying nor did we ever indicate that we weren't leaving a tip. I asked the service manager. May I Please speak to that person, Surprisingly this was the owner Tony .after extended time the Tony came to the table, very loud, arrogant, abrupt and rude stating that I came into his establishment and insulted his food I asked could you please lower your tone he told me he was the owner look on his Instagram. he was not loud This is just who he is and he would not lower his tone. I was shocked I could not believe the behavior absolutely poor representation clearly. Tony even went to say I tried your lobster myself. It wasn't rubbery at all. What is this? What is going on here? I just looked in disbelief. I could not believe that this was the owner standing in front of me. My guest stated Excuse me, please take your hands out of my face your being rude Tony replied What are you talking about, what do have Tony then asked am I being videotaped what's going on here? I looked in such believe I could not believe what I was hearing or the behavior that was being demonstrated by the owner, He then demanded that my guest pay the tip , my guess replied. I never said I wasn't paying the bill nor did I indicate I wasn't including a tip. Tony then requested we leave cash for the tip & leave! my guess mentioned I'm not paying in cash. Tony asked what do you mean you're not paying in cash the bill was 269. How did you expect to pay? I could not believe what I was hearing. Was he indicating or expecting that we did not have cards? my guess then stated I was paying with s card Tony again asked for cash again my guess replied. I'm paying with a card. Tony stated I'm not paying a dollar for my card machine for a tip. I then stated we will be happy to pay the dollar as well. We would like to leave our service manager a very nice tip. Tony replied you can Zell me or leave cash and then asked us to please leave his restaurant & said We don't want your tip! Very disappointed. The service manager definitely deserved a tip. The restaurant offers exceptional food and drinks in a beautifully designed space, but the persistent 50's vibe feels somewhat out of place. While the homage to the owner's grandmother is touching, the extended sock hop music session during a $$$ dining experience seems a bit odd. The potential is undeniable; letting go of the theme could allow the outstanding food and ambiance to truly shine. Currently they are in a "soft opening" stage of this new concept and I hope to return at some point to see if any changes occur. For the main dish, we ordered coriander crusted tuna, seafood combo, lamb soap bucco and whole grilled branzino. The food is delicious. The lamb is well cooked, soft and tender. Grilled octopus is moist and well marinated. Coriander crusted tuna taste great. Seafood combo is excellent. Grilled whole branzino is tasty. They have a huge parking space for large group gathering. He brought the machine to the table which is fine. When it came to tipping, it got awkward.
