Dined here with my friends last night. My friend's wife said she had been dying to try this place and that they were in the process of a soft opening...I had never heard of it before so I didnt know what to expect and I didnt read any reviews before we arrived...I was thoroughly impressed. Its been several years since I have been to a restaurant and experienced this level of engagement from the Owner (his name is Tony by the way). When you walk in the lobby is well lit with a nicely decorated bar to the left. On the wall to the right of the lobby there are several photographs of the restaurants namesake "Labebe" which is Tony's grandmother. Before we were seated Tony greeted us at the host's stand and told us a brief story about his grandmother and why she was the inspiration for the restaurant. The main dining room is very large and there is a window on the far side of the dining room that has a door that opens to the patio. The dining room also has stairs that lead to a loft area that Tony intends to theme as a speakeasy. It was hard to pick what to get because everything on the menu sounded great. The menu is Mediterranean and incorporates a fusion of all the regions of the Mediterranean. So you have options varying from mixed grill kebabs to chicken to branzino, and of course steak. For an appetizer I got Caesar salad. It came in a bowl that was big enough for the three of us to share...Ok, this legit was the best salad I have had this yr. Dressing was on point and what sets this Caesar apart from others...the croutons are made from croissants. After dinner i literally gave Tony a high-five for this. Nicely buttered and toasted...crisp and not a jaw breaker. Bravo. My friends both got steak (a strip and a filet) and I got the crab stuffed branzino. My dish came with two stuffed filets, veggies, roasted potatoes and a light cream sauce. Phenomenal! My friend Jennine couldnt finish her filet so she let me try a little bit of hers...Next time i come back...I will be getting the filet! Labebe has an extensive drink menu. I like when a restaurant takes the time to craft their own drinks instead of just offering the basic bartender's book cocktails. I had a Mediterranean Mule (made with Limoncello as well as the traditional ginger beer) and I had a Basil Bomber (Bombay gin, Lemon, Agave, Basil). Both drinks were awesome but my favorite of the two was the Basil Bomber. At the end of dinner Tony instructed our waiter to let us sample a complimentary dessert which ended up being a rice pudding served in a cocktail glass with berry compote at the bottom and some sort of a graham cracker or oatmeal topping mix...I usually am not a rice pudding guy but I would def get this again. The staff was very attentive. The waiter read back everything we ordered to ensure he got it right. Our table was cleaned in between courses and our waters were refilled promptly. Everyone had a smile on their face and gave the impression they were happy to serve you. This was refreshing because post pandemic I have noticed alot of wait staff at restaurants in general...They have an indifferent or disgusted attitude...but i didnt notice that here at all. It was late on a Sunday night which afforded Tony time to speak with us for around 20 mins...Tony has alot of passion for food and hospitality. He really gets it. It brought a smile to our faces to hear Tony explain his vision for the restaurant. He explained to us how he intends to section the large dining area with the addition of a few booths, his plans for outdoor dining on the patio, and the speakeasy upstairs. He intends for the restaurant to incorporate elements from the '50s as well. 50s music was playing while we were there...Tony explained he just likes the era because of its "feel good" nature, and I would have to agree. You always like talking to people like Tony because they are driven and have an excitement that you just have to see in person because words cant capture. He genuinely loves what he is doing and is putting his heart into the business. I need Tony to open a restaurant in my town haha Overall this was an A+ experience. We threw my mother's surprise 75th birthday party here and throughout the MONTHS of planning Tony and his staff were patient, understanding, reasonable, organized and detail oriented. On the day of the party there was not one detail that wasn't addressed promptly. Meals were fired on time, our vendors were accommodated without any glitches and communication remained open and fluid throughout the event. The food at Labebe is consistent in that it is ALWAYS delicious, the drinks are even better. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful- clean, modern, high ceilings, beautiful lighting and decor. I would recommend Labebe to anyone. The restaurant and it's staff are impeccable, the management is lovely to deal with and the food is amazing. We hosted my brother in law's surprise birthday party here and I have to say that it was a HUGE disappointment. It started off great since they allowed us to come in early to set up and we were very excited as the staff stated they had birthday sparklers to bring up on top of the cake we had delivered to the restaurant. Here's my complaint about the rental space: 1. Our designated waiter, Mohammed (I think that was his name) was gone for over 20 minutes at a time and nowhere to be found. 2. Orders were not well recognized, even when people weren't moving around much. 3. The food came out too slow in terms of timing. The entree literally came out over an hr after the appetizers were out and the dessert was rushed during the last 10-15 minutes of the event and was literally one finger-length piece of baklava .... But the above wasn't even the worst... The birthday song went off with a celebratory staff coming out with sparklers and desserts downstairs several times -- But these people were so senseless when it came to our party. Literally, we asked for the cake to be brought up for the birthday boy and asked the staff in advance for how we wanted it... yet the waiter legit just brought the whole box up. WHO BRINGS UP THE CAKE BOX TO THE PARTY WITHOUT THE CAKE OUT AND UNLIT? Especially after given directives. On top of this, we realized afterwards that we were charged extra than the amount of people who even attended... This was the MOST SENSELESS staff I've ever encountered. I was and am still so livid about the whole experience. The one star I would be giving would only be for the decent food they have. You're better off doing your birthday dinner with a small crowd on the restaurant floor. I definitely DO JO recommend doing your party in the upstairs area they have. Went to Labebe prime this past Saturday with my family. Was a really cool vibe with maybe the most on point staff I've ever experienced. They were truly amazing from the waiter, to the runners and bus boys. Service was crazy good. The menu was interesting and a little all over the place from sushi to Mediterranean food and steaks. We split a Wagu meatball appetizer which was very good. Brings us to the main course. My wife ordered a filet mignon, my son ordered a cowboy steak and my other son and I ordered/split the Tomahawk with melted truffle butter. Now the steaks were certainly not cheap. The Tomahawk was a $200 steak and as far as I was concerned just meh. When paying that kind of money for something it should be memorable. I was very disappointed and my son felt the same way. My wife enjoyed her filet. When she gave me a piece I thought it was just ok. Now my son's Cowboy steak looked like the best thing on the table. He loved it and ate it so fast that no one got a taste. Lol. Sides were ok, fries, mashed and artichoke hearts. There was a birthday and some staff came out and did a thing with a sign and took a Polaroid of the table with some complementary rainbow cookies (that were very good). We ordered some other desserts that were fine. We had a horrible experience at Labebe with their party room package. Family style entrees were served, we were given practically tea plates to eat from. Kofta was not served traditional style. They decided to chop it like dog food, not even cleanly cut with a knife. Coffee served to all guests was absolute room temperature, most left it as is! The "dessert" in the package is a 1 inch square of baklava. We were truly embarrassed to our guests who drove from hours away for this yet alone ruining our event. We've supported Pierre and his business's for over 2 decades. Aside from the expected inflation in costs, the quality and service post Covid has changed drastically. His son Tony is oblivious and rude, not basing from one experience. He tries to speak to people with disrespect and becomes aggressive/defensive when not understanding a basic and common question. Truly a boy masked as a grown man. Talk to him for a moment, you'll understand.. One star experience from management, to service, to food- at a premium price. I've never had to write this kind of review before, but here's a review for a place that we didn't even go to (though we tried!): Why? Because even though they had our reservation (made early that morning) which stated that a member was high risk and required outdoor seating (which, as we saw on Yelp, they had), they waited until 25 minutes before we were due there (both couples already in the cars and driving there) to call and let us know they have construction going on and had no outdoor seating available. 25 minutes before we were due there! When I asked why they waited until the last minute to notify me, they had no reason, just that they were sorry. What a way to ruin a birthday celebration! All they could do was recommend a different restaurant the manager liked. It wasn't one that worked for us. Luckily, Roots Ocean Prime in Princeton took fabulous care of us and turned around what was a mess of a start to the evening. AND, Labebe then had the gall to list us as a no-show to Open Table!! We will never, ever go to Labebe after being treated so poorly. They need to work on behaving like professionals. read more

Lovely ambience and authentic menu selection. They have the best daily happy hour menu with tons of discounted meals, small plates, and alcoholic drinks. Can't go wrong with some octopus or hummus. However, the shawarma/gyros are mediocre and could use more seasoning & sauce. Service always feels cold, but gets the job done. Outdoor patio available for summer seating. Went to Labebe's last night to celebrate my dad's birthday and it was amazing. We were a group of 9 and our server Liz, if I mistaken, took care of us. Very courteous, professional and made my family feel like family. The food? It was amazing! If I wasnt cutting weight I would have ordered more things to try. Some of the highlights were the steak tartar, the waygu meatballs and the spicy penne. All the steaks were cooked to perfection, all of the sides were good (creamed spinach, truffle Mac n cheese, and fries) and my mom was raving about the branzio (she's a very picky and tough critic). We got the dessert platter which I tried a little bite of everything and it was all good.....especially the baklava! Everyone enjoyed their drinks and the sangria was great too. Everyone left full, happy and impressed. Will definitely be back in June for the grand opening of their new concept or maybe even before then for a date night. read more

Extremely rude owner! Yesterday I visited Labebe Prime, we ordered our food and overall we had a decent experience until I received my main course "mixed grill". The owner and server checked on us immediately after having our main course served - I hadn't tasted mine yet as I was attending to my kids. When I tasted my main course I found it too salty. I didn't complain, I just simply didn't eat it. At the very end of the evening as I asked our server for the check I simply said "I don't want to get anyone in trouble & it's not a big deal; I just wanted to let you know that the chef is a bit too liberal with salt". He said he'll bring it up to the owner (who already seemed agitated). I repeatedly asked him to just let it go & that it's not a big deal. He assured me that it was good feedback for the owner who would want to know this. I said ok. A few minutes later the owner comes & the following exchange occurred: - We took care of your meal and comped it - Thank you but you really didn't have to, it's not a big deal! - No it's ok, I understand that it's not to your standard; however I personally taste it & it meets my standards. - Ok, please go ahead and add it to the tab, it's really not a big deal. - No it's ok, we took care of it. - Thank you The rest of table was surprised at the exchange as it was simply too rude & unnecessary. Initially I was planning on letting it go. My brother in law left them an honest review of the whole experience and the owner's response got me fuming. I came to this restaurant with a party of 7 for my birthday and had such a wonderful experience! Reserving online was very easy and when we got there we were seated immediately at a circular table which made it easy to share dishes and converse! The interior of the restaurant is very nice- dimly lit setting with chandeliers and ethnic music playing in the back. We got a ton of food to share- the baba ganoush was particularly amazing and so flavorful! In general all the foods were highly flavored and the penne siciliano had such a unique mediterranean twist to an italian meal. The quantity was also HUGE- enough for 2 meals which was great. The waitress even brought out tiramisu for me with a candle and played happy birthday on the restaurant speakers for me!! Had a good time at Labebe. 3.5 Stars are really where this place is at. Good ambience and great service. The food was good overall and great service. Had the Baba Ghanoush and Parmigiano Risotto Friiters as apps. Baba Ghanoush was standard with a milder smokey flavor, however the fritters were on point. The fritters had a great flavor throughout, as opposed to just the coating. The falafel was good, not dry whatsoever. It had a crispy, flavorful outer coating and was accompanied by a garlic whip and hummus. The cowboy steak was as it should be, medium, to allow for the fat settle into the meat. Good flavor without any accompaniments, however the Au Jus and the B&G pepper add another level to it. Overall, I would should have stuck to my NY Strip or Porterhouse, because of the high fat content, though it was still a good steak. I believe there a several places I would come back to or like to try in the area before returning here though. read more

They made it with arugula, huge croutons that made no season and too much Parmesan cheese on top. Would not recommend for the price. However this time around when I went with my husband we were not satisfied or impressed. The waitress was very hospitable, honest and kind. She was honest to tell us what some people didn't enjoy once they received it. We started with some bread, which was honestly not fresh. We also got some hummus & a salad. The hummus was good. We added a chicken to the hummus, it was not good at all. It honestly didn't taste good. The salad had WAY too much dressing on it but it was full of flavor and fresh. The grilled octopus was very good, we enjoyed it a lot. For our main courses we got the crab stuffed Bronzino, it was honestly not impressive, very plane and kind of over cooked. It needed some kind of a lemon sauce or just something to give it some flavor. For my husbands dish he got the kafta and rice dish. It was good but just ok. For dessert we got a rose thing. The waitress warned us people aren't fans, but we wanted to try it and well, it was very different but just not for us. The yogurt part of it could of been less. We had also come back here for a party shortly after where I got the Bronzino dish and calamari and I would say they were both more flavorful and cooked well. Oh la la bebe! With a huge classy interior and high ceilings, Labebe still provides intimate feels. I came here with my little fam and the friendly owner lead us to a booth. To drink, I ordered a refreshing and secretly heady Lebanese Mule (Massaya Arak, St. Germaine, ginger beer, lemon) which I super recommend. Then I was really excited to see the "Little Plates/Tapas" portion of their menu since I wasn't in the mood for a large meal. These little plates though, were more like medium-sized and more filling than I had expected. We ended up ordering the following: KIBBEH NAYEH (lamb tartar)- pretty good but it could have used way more bulgur for texture and more seasoning. GRILLED OCTOPUS - very good- cooked perfectly and tasty with chickpeas, onion, and red pepper. CEVICHE BOWL- lip-smacking good- salmon, swordfish, tuna, scallops, chili flakes, and citrus sauce. LAMB-STUFFED GRAPE LEAVES- delicious and packed tightly. Then the children!!! I was pretty disappointed when my kids' orders of pasta with red sauce arrived a lot later than the other dishes. To finish, I enjoyed their Lebanese Rice Pudding with orange blossom water and pistachios. With lots of hits, I'd definitely visit again with friends and family. I have been coming to Labebe for many years and after the menu had changed, it was a whole different, amazing experience. They really did an amazing job at selecting the finest meats, dishes, flavors, practically everything. I ordered something different each time and it was deliciously exceptional. I love the steaks at Labebe and I don't really eat steaks like that. But it was juicy and flavorful. And even the presentation with the service has been great.
