Oh my gosh everything here was amazing! We came on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. We ordered the Bruchetta and garlic knots for appetizers and they were delicious! I loved the croissant take on the garlic knots and they were super flaky and crispy but the marinara sauce was pretty bland and tasted store bought. The pizza was incredible! It took like 20 minutes to come out and the slices were huge! The toppings blended really well together and the crust was thick and crispy. The penne alla pasta was a bit undercooked and hard but the sauce was tasty and I enjoyed the ricotta. The filet sliders were a bit lacking as it was literally just the meat and the pretzel bun; I expected a few more toppings with that dish. However, the chips were crunchy and delicious and definitely tasted homemade. Overall I was pleased with my visit here and would come back! read more

This is a hidden gem on Grand St... quite literally hidden as the entrance is on an overhang from the actual street but easily accessible from Michigan Ave. We ended up with 2 servers somehow and one of them was amazing... other not so much. Around 5pm on a weekday when we went, place was still pretty empty but filled up by 530 so our timing couldn't have been better. We didn't have to wait in line at all and got a nice booth to ourselves. Very Chicago pizza diner vibes everywhere and lots of locals around as well enjoying happy hour The Burrata & Basil deep dish was amazing. Their smallest size is a 12 inch and definitely more than enough for 3 people maybe 4. They don't tell you this. Took about 15-20 minutes to come when they said it could take up to 40 minutes. To not wait the40 minutes without food, we also ordered the pasta which was supposed to come earlier but came at the same time as the massive pizza. We asked to send the pasta back and they obliged. We couldn't even finish the pizza and had to take it to go. Definitely worth going for the food and value but I would just stick to the pizza if you're ordering that. The restaurant itself is down a strip off of Michigan Ave. As you are heading north on Michigan Ave, you will see a walkway and an arc that says "Ristorante". That is the path to this cute place. The dining area is clean and spacious and while it was not opened, the outdoor dining area looked like a cool place to hang out in. Because it is not on the main strip of Michigan Ave, there wouldn't appear to be a lot of foot traffic walking pass you while dining. Our server Juan was just to adorable! He greeted us very warmly and welcomed us to the joint. He was quite chatty, but in a good way. He recommended a beer for The Doctor, the Labriola Lager. I guess the restaurant has its own beer crafted by Spiteful Brewing. I am not on drinking a lot of beer, but this was a nice lager, not too hoppy. I got a glass of sparkling rose, the large pour and it was a good one! We started out with the baked goat cheese with Pomodoro sauce and toasted Ciabatta bread. Mama mia! That Pomodoro sauce was on point! It was soooo good and when mixed with the cheese, heaven! The Doctor and I both got The Ritchie Burger, which was well made. As I had a little of the goat cheese and sauce left over, I spread some on the burger. Juan was impressed as it was not something he had thought of....let me tell you, it was gooood! We did not do dessert, but Juan was so sweet that he brought us our a to go bag of a small cup of sauce and bread and some cookies to take back to our room. And while we finishing up our drinks, he brought us our a garlic knot and some warm marinara sauce. That was so good! The bread knot was more of a croissant pastry dough, not a dense bread. I would definitely recommend that as well. We had such a good meal there that we went back the next day for lunch as well. No Juan, but we ended up getting Mama's Meatballs (two housemade Meatballs, marinara, creamy polenta and pecorino) and the Filet Sliders. The meatballs, with that sauce and polenta was filling and delish. The steak in the sliders were nice and juicy and tender. There was a good flavor to them and they didn't need a lot in terms of enhancement to the flavor. I guess we will have to go back to try the pizza since that is what they are known for. I was in Chicago with my folks and we were so smitten with this place we went several times. Their blood orange burrata was the most amazing dish. We changed up what we ate each time and their pizza and everything else for that matter is just delicious. We got my nephew one of their "Legalize Marinara" shirts. We were enjoying our meal and this little dude about 6 years old walks by with this epic donut. We found out that Stan's Donuts is there too. What a concept. We decided to split one and let me tell you it was ridiculously tasty. This place is nestled off Michigan Ave and their ambience is romance meets fun. Disappointed that I read reviews that mentioned personal pie but when I got there and sat down I found out only 12" and up. This was my first Chicago deep dish even though I've been to the many times. So I was stuck ordering 12". It's kind of like the old style Pizza Hut with cheese and sauce flipped. The pie seemed hot at first but it was only the crust and the cheese was barely melted and didn't blend with the sauce at all. I got a plain with sausage and it was definitely missing something it was blah. I should've ordered it well done to get it cooked. The service was excellent. The hostess let me have a small booth even though busy. Restaurants need to understand middle age people with bad backs need to rest lol. I had more than half leftover and actually tasted slightly better leftover and cold but it was soggy. DoorDash later informed me that Jason hung up on them as well and simply told them "not to worry," offering no concern for the guest experience. OK, this place is ridiculous. My wife and kids ages 19 and 15 came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There's both inside and outside seating and the insiders air conditioned. We chose to eat outside in the shade with lots of foot traffic and people watching going by. We did not get a starter but for drinks my kids had sodas and my wife and I had some white wine. Then for main courses, my daughter who was 19 had the penny of vodka. My other daughter who is 15 had the burger and fries. My wife and I split a margarita thin crust pizza. If you're on Michigan Ave and looking for a place that has a lil' something for everyone, Labriola is a great option! Work has sent me to Chicago the past two years, and my crew has eaten here twice. They've got a decent beer and wine list, and a solid menu. We started with the bread and goat cheese appetizer, and it was delicious... and also had a very generous dollop of goat cheese. I got the eight finger cappa-something or another with vodka sauce, basil and whipped ricotta. It was super yummy, but I do wish it had a lil more basil. I will preface this and say, perhaps as blasphemy to some Chicagoans, that I am not really a fan of deep dish. Excellent deep dish I do like, and I can name some places I've enjoyed a pie-like slice of deep dish, but other pizza styles have my heart. I also really enjoy squash flavored things and I lowkey rejoice upon the arrival of butternut squash season, so it will come as no surprise that I loved the butternut squash pizza and would give it five stars. The 3 other people I was with preferred the deep dish, which really worked out for me. The spicy mango cocktail is the best!! Originally I tried the tart cherry cocktail, but wasn't impressed. Labriola is a great spot for quality deep dish! This is a great location downtown / a great spot to bring your visitors for good pizza that isn't way out of the way and has a nice restaurant feel. One thing that stands out to me is that they have a variety of menu items other than pizza or pasta, so an option for a group if there's one person that isn't a huge pizza fan. The basil and burrata deep dish was delicious! The two of us split the 12" and only made it through half (2 slices pp is plenty). I enjoyed the crispy crust which is much better than Lou malnatis in my opinion. The layout makes it feel like one large, connected space, with the outdoor vibe blending seamlessly with the interior. Now, onto the food, which is the main reason we came...The recommendation we got was spot on. The Skinny Deep Dish is a fantastic middle ground between traditional deep dish and a thin crust, which they also offer. You still get all the cheesy, crispy goodness, but with just a bit less dough, which makes it perfect for enjoying without feeling overly stuffed before hitting the streets of Chicago for a stroll. While the Skinny Deep Dish was delightful, the true star of the meal was easily the Zucchini Fritti. Hands down, the best fried zucchini I've ever had. Thin slices of zucchini perfectly breaded, seasoned, and fried to crispy perfection and sided with hot marinara for dipping. Honestly, I'd come back just for the fritti. Our service was solid. Our server was friendly, helpful, and genuinely fun. Overall, Labriola Chicago was one of our favorite spots we hit while in the city. Solid spot to try deep dish if you're visiting the city! As a New Yorker, I was pretty skeptical about deep dish, since most of the reviews I've heard from my friends have been pretty grim. However, I still wanted to try for myself. We came as a party of 2 around 3pm, during their weekday HH. We ordered their SKINNY Deep Dish, which essentially is less dough thickness, but the same taste -- highly recommend over the OG deep dish! Deep dish is basically a round Sicilian pie (thickness), that has a layer of fried cheese on the bottom, then dough, then the usual deep dish fixings - a layer of sauce + cheese. Our pie took ~35 min to come out. Deep dish tastes like JUST what you'd expect - a strong 7/10 for expected experience. People who aren't into Sicilian slices may find deep dish to be TOO thick, which is why I'd recommend their SKINNY version. We also got their Fritto Misto HH deal ($12), which was fine and nothing special. Great service and comfortable, spacious interior. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were told that we could not be seated despite the abundance of empty tables, which is fine, I understand policies are policies. But the hostess was rude about it and made it seem like we committed a crime for showing up earlier than our reservation time. Anyway, once we were seated it took forever for someone to come take our order. We ordered 2 alcoholic beverages and our food. The food came out and was incorrect. When we told the waiter he became very defensive and said "well I told them what you told me". No apologies were made. The drinks came out way later after we asked what had happened to them and they were AWFUL. We ordered a guava drink that had absolutely nothing to do with guava and just tasted bitter. The manager came over and very kindly asked if he could replace our drinks. The second round of drinks was just as awful but we were too embarrassed and over it at this point to speak up again. Before Labriola, my experience with Chicago Deep Dish style pizza have been 'meh'. The first one that I can recall was that Uno Chicago grill. This one was in the northeast, and the deep deer style pizza was something unremarkable that I did not hope to repeat. It turned me off Deep Dish until I was in Chicago as a tourist two years ago. I took a food tour, because of course I would, and stop #1 was in a pizza place. The slice of deep dish served to us was small, and regrettably not mind blowing. Now that I am officially a Chicagoan, I have been meaning to try a place that comes highly recommended. I turned to Reddit, which seemed to be extremely fond of Pequods. Thus, when I had a friend come visit me, I tried to add Pequod's to the itinerary. However that did not work out, and we went to Labriola instead. You know something? Well the pizza is not immune from criticism, and I do feel there is some room for improvement, this was the pie that made me finally say quote now I get it!" If I recall correctly, I ordered a Danny's Special. They warn you that the pizza takes about 30 minutes to come out. This is for a good reason: the pizzas are made fresh! The crust was perfectly imperfect, ground in that iron deep dish pan to perfection! The awesomeness does not stop there though, the pie was oh so cheesy, and the balance of dough to cheese was great. Even in terms of the toppings, these were in very generous amounts. All of the ingredients seem to be high quality, and the pizza was well balanced, except for one thing: the tomato sauce. Looking at photos from other Yelpers, it seems that Otter Danny's Specials got a much better helping of tomato sauce than mine did. with mine, some slices had nearly no tomato sauce at all. As a result, it felt that something was missing, that something being that tiny bit of sweetness and acidity that a great tomato sauce offers. Finally, I want to give them a monumentous amount of credit for the service. Our server was very friendly, very kind, and took great care of my friend and I. When it comes to the prices, while on their own, they're a little bit on the high side, considering the quality and the portion, I would say the prices are reasonable. I cannot let Reddit down, and i know i'm going to be wondering about Pequod's until I try it. However, I can absolutely see myself returning to Labriola, especially after looking at several photos of a Danny Special that didn't accidentally skimp on the tomato sauce! read more

Excellent!! We had dinner at Labriola, and it was fantastic. After a very long day of sightseeing we found our way into this cozy and busy dining room. We were welcomed warmly and seated. Our server was so attentive and had our waters and menus on the table right away. I ordered the meatballs with polenta as my meal, and my husband had the chicken parm. Both were outstanding. I ordered eggplant Parmesan, my favorite dish for delivery. The spaghetti was dry without any sauce. The eggplant was so thick and tough that I could not cut it with my fork and it was burned in areas and too salty. The garlic bread was hard as a brick. Delivery was excellent.
