Had a great time here with my friends last night! The line was super long and it took about 30-45 min to get it. It gave us times to make some new friends outside tho. The bathroom situation is pretty terrible. The gender neutral bathroom was super dirty and the girls bathroom had the longest line ever. The drinks here were okay. This is a great bar with ample seating + bottle service. My friends and I came here at 9:30 on a Saturday and managed to grab the last table for ~15 people. The waitress here was also super nice and came back a lot to get our drink orders. In total we ordered 3-4 rounds of drinks between all of us. The drinks are pretty good and decently strong. Yoooo, came in for my girl's birthday on a Friday night and it was packed! I'm not sure if there was cover but we got in for free around 10:30pm and the line went by quick. Right when we walked in until we left - the music was BAY AF, thank you DJ! The crowd was young (probably because we were close to SJSU) and it was 95% Asians. I haven't heard such good transition of music in SO long so shout out to the DJ who was playing on 10/20 you were on point! We had a party of probably 20 people. She made sure everyone got their orders in and she would always come back to check in on us. The food and drinks here were also super good. The security guard took my friends REAL ID and after asking for it back he said to call SJPD which is quite extra if you ask me. Now my friend has no ID for the next week as she has to wait for her ID to come in. Overall, they were very aggressive and weren't willing to listen. I called SJPD and they said that this situation was low priority. My friend now has to use her passport for the next week until her ID (THAT SHE HAD TO PAY FOR) comes in. Is it just me, or does the name Labyrinth make you think of the words "lathering" and "baby"? Anyway, according to google, Labyrinth means an irregular network path. Sure does feel like a network maze in there when you stumble in to a crowd and people dispersed throughout the very very dimly lit place. Should note that I came on a Saturday night as I've heard it's a different atmosphere at night. When it's crowded, navigating to the bar can be a little difficult since there's a large center-island counter that occupies a lot of space. If you once enjoyed temple and like to dance, but could no longer stand the rough crowd, then I believe this place would be a good spot to checkout. **Pro tip for the ladies** If you want to dance but can't get a creeper off from trying to dance with you-- I found the perfect spot. There's this pole from ground to ceiling wedged right by the larger center-island counter. Go to that pole and use it as your back grinder to avoid from being snuck up on! I was a little confused by the bathroom. I specifically used one straight ahead from the entrance door, and it led me to a room with a sink and urinal, and then a second door for the ladies. There were ladies occupying the private toilet and I was just there standing by the urinal while other guys in line were trying to come in.. Stopped in the other day with a couple friends who told me this place had some good food and that it wasn't just a drinking loung-y kinda place. The menu items all sounded tasty (a couple of the items my friends recommended) and reasonably priced so we ordered one of everything haha. Everything came out one by one in a timely manner, but waited till every last item hit the table before we feasted (honestly we waited to take pictures for the gram lol). Food was great! I definitely recommend trying this place! We were informed that the menu does change and new items will be coming. I might be picky, but I feel like there's not much to do in SJ. Whenever I want to go have some nightlife fun, I'd go to San Francisco. But seeing that SF is about an hour-ish away from my house, I go to DTSJ instead for a fun night at the bars. This place is not the normal bar scene - if you're looking for a bar to go on a date to get to have deep conversations, this is NOT it. I would compare this to sort of a club. Of all the bars downtown, this one seems to be my favorite if you're in the mood to dance. I've been here 4 times and it's always been pretty fun with good music. The line is always daunting depending on what time you arrive. I suggest coming around 10:30-11 pm for when the crowds are good. Some things to be aware of the bathroom set up can be kind of weird. There are 2 bathrooms, one is completely normal. The other one has a urinal and also a regular bathroom all in one. But if someone is using the urinal, they're going to be unlikely to let someone go through the normal bathroom. Be aware to my ladies, gents, and NB folks, the men who come to this bar are always THIRSTY and I'm not talking about the drinks. This goes without saying from any bar, but be aware of people who offer you drinks because people have been roofied here time and time again. Overall, I still like this bar because of the cute photo wall that says "Get lost at the Labyrinth"! Recommendation: Get the Henny with pineapple juice. read more

Honestly, Lab is one of those places in downtown I don't mind going to at all! It can get really busy on Friday and Saturday nights so be prepared to wait in a line. The times I've come here, they always play good music and the crowd is always chill and not too rowdy. The place itself is not the biggest so it can get crowded very easy and it's more of a bar scene more than club, so that's the design they catered to. Spent our last night of freedom here before everything closes back up and we definitely ended on a great note. Our server Kimberly was an absolute sweetheart and was super attentive throughout the night. The drinks here are really good if you enjoy girly/sweet drinks and they offer some really tasty small plates. Who writes review for bars/ night club? Sure me. Been here a few times, a fun watering hole for the local young Asians. Glad they're not TOO young (average late 20s it seems) because some establishments draws in only college students. Lab, early in the night, is a cool lounge, good hip hop music and then becomes a club. It takes one table to order a couple of Hennessy bottles and the ABGs all flocks in full force. It's a beautiful sight. I also feel pretty safe. The mature group seems more responsible and doesn't seem a fight will out. I struggle to write this review because it seems so different from those others have written. I only walked down Post to find this place because the reviews were so positive. I was unfortunately disappointed. I visited on my way down to the First Friday festivities on 1st Street. I came with 2 other people and there were between 4 and 6 other people in the bar while we were there. The place is big and looked pretty cool inside. First thing we saw was the food on the back of the menu. We were very hungry so we started to talk about what looked good. The bartender quickly told us they don't have food. Apparently they used to have it and now they don't. I'd suggest reprinting the menus as they're made of cheap card-stock so it wouldn't be a big expense and would prevent disappointment of customers. There were only 6 drinks available. This on its own isn't disappointing. I understand the appeal of a limited menu. My friend and I ordered the unicorn drink (can't remember the official drink name) and the bartender let us know after a short time that they were out of the cream for the drink so they couldn't make it (unless we wanted it without the cream). I thought this was pretty ridiculous since it was early on a Friday night and they only have 6 drinks on the menu. Also, Safeway is right down the street. Not sure how they could run out of such a basic ingredient so early in the night. The other drink ordered was delicious. It was a plantain based drink. I tried it and it was really good. It was strong, but drinkable. It wasn't really a place where we wanted to stick around since they didn't have the drink we wanted or food and it was basically empty. So we moved along. I will note both of the bartenders were very friendly and tried to be as accommodating as they could given the circumstances. However, when we passed by later on in the night, around 11, the place was packed! There was a line to get in and they had music going. It was a much different scene than the one we visited earlier in the night. So we may have been too early. Maybe they also ran to Safeway and picked up some extra cream. read more

This is not my first time at LAB but definitely my last. I ordered a double shot margarita and the bartender poured a full glass of ice. When i reminded her, she went to the manager and got me kicked out. When I explained to the security, they wouldn't listen and told me to come back next week. I understand that it's the security job to kicked me out. However, the bartender should've be more understanding and not try to make a scene out of nothing. When placing a reservation, I was told it would be an hour wait, but when I came to check, the hostess told me that people booked ahead one week in advanced and there was no guarantee of a table.
