Wow all the amazing reviews and I was left a little disappointed. Located in old Lahaina, the restaurant doesn't really have a view so no ocean side dinner if that's what you're searching for. The restaurant is located in the middle of a little town and actually feels a bit closed off to the outside when you're in the dining room. The server was nice enough and service was pretty good. The restaurant itself claims to be fine dining but the interior feels a bit minimalistic and definitely more high end casual than fine dining, minus the white tablecloths; the atmosphere was relaxed. My meal didn't particularly wow me. We ordered the Bufala Tomato Salad - refreshing and as expected. The Bufala mozarella was fresh and delicious. The Dungeness Crab Tower was a bit on the mediocre side in terms of size and flavors. We've definitely had better crab towers elsewhere. My main course, the Maui Onion and Sesame Crusted Seared Ahi actually had a flavor I didn't enjoy. Not sure what it was but the Red Snapper Special tasted much better in terms of flavor profile. We were celebrating my partner's big milestone birthday and wanted somewhere special that we could create a lasting memory. Lahaina grill delivered! I made reservations 3 months in advance to our trip. Lahaina Grill staff went above and beyond to make our celebration special. The host greeted my partner by name and wished him a happy birthday, we got a digital photo sent to us that was taken at our table, and the entire staff signed a birthday card. A ++++ on service. Now the food. We started with the Caviar Deviled Eggs and the Dungeness Crab and Lobster Cake. The Deviled Eggs were loaded with Caviar. A mouthful of eggs in every bite. The Crab and Lobster cake was filled with meat. Lacking the typical filler here - no complaints ;) Our entrees were absolutely stunning in appearance and flavor. My partner had the Sesame Crusted Ahi. A huge tender chunk of Ahi under perfectly roasted sesame crust. Savory with a slight sweet flavor from the caramelized Maui Onions. I had the Parmesan Crusted Monchong special. We had never heard of Monchong. It's apparently a deep sea Hawaiian fish. Cooked perfectly with every flaky delicate bite filled accompanied with saffron risotto. The entrees were sized accordingly to the price and was very filling. Finally, a Triple Berry Pie came out for dessert with a blue candle for birthday wishes. The triple berry pie was great. Not overly sweet and big enough for two. I can imagine Lahaina Grill in it's respected place as one of the best restaurants on Maui is a four star restaurant on many days of the year. Tucked on the side street two blocks off of Front St, Lahaina Grill dominates the block with an adjacent hotel and two seating areas. Our party sat near the bar. The menu feels very traditional, non-adventurous, what one would find for dinner or room service at a Mandarin Oriental anywhere around the world. Steak, lamb chops, scallops. The prices are extreme for what they were, we called it the +$30 Maui tax on each entree item. As a special appetizer, the clams in broth were delicious with a touch of sweetness from the lapxuong Chinese sausages. The table shared the fish special as well, it sat on corn risotto. It was a tasty preparation, but one couldn't help but think the risotto of the day is corn or mushroom a lot here. The lamb chops were well-prepared, I could tell consistency was a big deal here after the owner Jerg explained his background and the restaurant's history. The same vegetable sides came with each dish, consistent like microwave dinners. The deviled eggs were decent and so were the sides we ordered. Our water glasses remained filled as we shared some conversation with passerbys and staff. That is where the pleasantries stop. I ordered a difficult drink for the bar, one I use to judge cocktail making skills of bartenders. It was a sour mess, there is no real drink program here so I would suggest sticking to basics. I should have sent it back in hindsight. I also left my napkin on my chair several times on my chair to see if any of the staff were trained to put it back. I guess most of the service attention to detail was to used to memorize the most expensive appetizers and entrees to recommend. Our waitress almost stepped on my napkin, I was afraid they would charge me for a new one. Falsified class and just rudeness is what rubs me here at Lahaina Grill. For $100+ per person, I felt conned. There is an undertone of pretentiousness, obnoxiousness, greed and grime that accompany the white linen tablecloths. The acoustics are loud, the wait staff are of two ilks. A few, were true hosts/hostesses, barbacks, service professionals trained in actual service. The other, like carneys posing as waitstaff, looking for their next sucker to pitch a baseball at weighted cans or purchase an overpriced blurry photograph package of your family. As none of the desserts jumped out to the table as worth trying, we opted for no dessert. Our waitress Brianna eyes rolled deeply into the back of head as she heard this and snatched the menu out of my hand. The owner, Jerg will probably have to hit the reset button in her to get them back in place. Kind as he was, the reset button is probably far up there. We did get free dessert as part of a celebratory occasion. It was the berry fruit tart which was very jammy and sweet. A nice card prepared by the staff was also present. As I paid for the lackluster experience, Brianna stood awfully close to the credit card machine protecting her precious tip. And maybe intentionally, there is no spirit of Aloha or Mahalo when they rob you at Lahaina Grill. But there should be. read more

Make sure you ask for the house baked bread and butter. The butter is amazing and infused w garlic and onions. My wife and I were recommended to this place and we received an available spot later that day (a bit after dinner). Reservation is a must and we really got lucky since someone backed out. Parking was easy since to find -- either on Front Street for street parking or the JAC Parking on Lahainaluna Road. The service was great and the bartender in front of us was very friendly and professional. I enjoyed their Maui Mule (~$20) which included ocean vodka and maui brewing island ginger beer. What I really liked was that they used local ingredients. I ordered the Center Cut Certified Angus Beef 7 Oz. Filet Mignon (~$80). By far our favorite meal that we had in Maui! If you're visiting the area, you really have to have a meal at Lahaina Grill. The restaurant is right by downtown Lahaina, which is great to walk by for shops and a nice ocean view. For the parking, it is a bit difficult to find free parking but there are lots nearby that charge $10 for 2 hours of parking. The service was amazing, and we felt that they were responsive to our needs and very attentive. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful too; I love the large paintings all over the walls. For the food, I highly recommend the monchong. We've had it at other restaurants in Maui, but it was particularly good here. The fish was very crispy on the outside while also being perfectly tender and flakey. The sauce was very good as well. We also liked the seafood chowder the wagyu beef ravioli. For the ravioli, the inside meat was just okay, but the sauce was amazing. Our server kindly gave us two more plates of starter bread so that we could dip it into the ravioli sauce to enjoy it some more. Came to Maui for our honeymoon and had to try this place out! With so many reviews we tried making reservations online but they were booked almost 3 months in advance, we decided to try calling to see if we could get a reservation time and we were able to! so if they are all booked online, I would def try calling and you might get lucky like we did! It seemed a bit dry to me. And was nothing memorable. For the wagyu ravioli, I'll be dreaming about this dish for a while! This was phenomenal! it was so delicious, and we got a bread service, so dipping the bread in the extra sauce of the ravioli is a must! My husband and I also shared the fresh fish chowder, this was also okay. It was the catch of the day fish which was delicious, but overall the soup was too chunky my for my liking. The soup base was my favorite part of the soup, if the soup was just the soup base, it probably would have been one of my favorites of this whole meal. For entrees I got the scallops which were perfectly cooked and in this amazing sauce. It's served over a bed of mashed potatoes and seasoned vegetables. My husband got the meatballs and that was okay. We had also ordered a side of the risotto of the day, and that never came out, but to be honest we were kind of glad they forgot to bring it out because we were too full to even finish our entrees. So I'm not going to dock them on that. Plus they came by the table many times to ask how we were doing, and we had many opportunities to mention it if we really wanted it. For dessert We were given a triple berry pie! Since we were celebrating our honeymoon, they gave us this complementary. It was very good, but my husband and I aren't pie people. Was only able to get a 8:45 pm reservation on a Saturday night even a month or two in advance because this place is so popular! First of all, parking is a bit of a nightmare in this area. Front street is always packed, so make sure you come early if you're driving to find a spot. This place is classy, so come dressed up a little bit. The staff members wore masks and were super nice. Gluten free options were listed as GF on the menu. We started off with some cocktails, I personally really enjoyed the bee sting the waiter recommended. It was so different with the Hawaiian moonshine and lavender honey. My husband really enjoyed the smoking gun cocktail which had whiskey and scotch.That was right up his alley. We got the wagyu ravioli as per waiter's recommendation because that's the most popular app to get apparently. And it was sooo good. The most impressive thing about it was the sauce. We could not get enough of it and the waiter gave us more bread so we could soak it all up. We also ordered the fish chowder because we wanted to try the fish and a bit of the monchong fish which we've never had before. And they gave you a lot of fish in that soup. The chowder is very different from your new england claw chowder. It's not creamy at all and very light. Delicious. For our entrees we ordered the Chef Arnie's homemade meatballs, and this was the dish that probably was our favorite of the night. The meatball itself was so fluffy and flavorful. The sauce and pasta paired perfectly with the meatball, and is actually a pretty filling entree. We also ordered the slow braised short rib, which was so tender and delicious with the sauce. But this dish didn't stand out as much as the meatball because I felt that I've gotten a short rib just as good as this in NYC. Overall, very good food, but I honestly gave it 4 stars because of how pricey the food was. This was probably even pricier than some fine dining with the i've gone to in NYC. Love it here. Would recommend to everyone to come here and eat. I would come back here again the next time I'm in Maui. Everything was cooked to perfection. Food was very fresh. Our experience coming here during our stay in Maui was amazing. It's a must for all visitors! The ambiance and atmosphere was welcoming and made the dinner that much more enjoyable, from the start! We ordered a lot to try and everything killed expectations. The wagyu ravioli was a highlight as an appetizer. Aside from this, the onion soup, chowder and cocktails were a home run. Since we are a party of 8- we initially booked two reservations for party of 4 and left a comment if they can sit us nearby. The restaurant read our request and called us and put us in one table. Every dish we had was amazing. Fresh fish with great flavors. Even the salads where great. Make sure you get the dessert sampler. It's always great to be a big group and able to try many dishes. I recommend asking the specials which I got- monchong. That fish was perfectly cook with great flavors. Other dish like mahi mahi, ravioli, fresh sashimi were are amazing. Don't eat to much bread and house butter- but it's hard to do. Highly recommend eating here. Came here as a recommendation from some friends. This restaurant is located in busy, touristy Front St. in Lahaina. While this restaurant does lack sunset views that other restaurants have in Maui, it certainly makes up for and beyond with its service as well as food. To start off, we had their bread service. Hot and fresh bread was brought over with most amazing compound butter. It had herbs and garlic mixed in, and it was divine. We started with the wagyu beef ravioli as an appetizer. Nice and tender meat filling and the brandy mushroom cream sauce was perfect. Our server actually suggest we get some more bread just to dip in the sauce and her recommendation was spot on! For salad, I had bufala tomato salad. It's their take on a caprese salad with some twists... flavorful raw and diced Maui onions as well as black Hawaiian sea salt. The mozzarella was creamy and soft and paired well with the balsamic, oil, and salt. The diced raw onions added it a nice crush to the dish and pop of flavor. For entree, I went with the fish special of the day. I believe it was Hawaiian pink snapper. Delicate and tasty on top of a bed of risotto. Fabulous. The restaurant is very cute and nostalgic inside. It was a little loud since the space is on the smaller side and the bar is prominently located near the middle of the restaurant. Service was outstanding... besides our own very knowledgeable server, we also never were without fresh ice cold water frequently topped off and plates/utensils cleared. Place is absolutely beautiful with stunning artwork on the walls with Sinatra and others from that era playing in the background. Our server Richard was incredible! He had great suggestions. Beautiful fine dining restaurant in the heart of Lahaina, Maui. Bright, noisy, clean and Covid conscientious. Tip: book a reservation early, try to get a window seat. There are no ocean views, but that's the only downfall. Great service, awesome award winning food. Great wine selection. We had a variety of dishes between the 4 of us, beet salad, Maui onion soup, and seafood chowder to start. Fresh warm sourdough rolls w/garlic chive butter. For the main course, osso buco, braised short rib and mahi-mahi. Osso buco was my fav. For dessert, the sampler was more than enough to share between all 4 of us. You can choose which 4 to share. Everything was tasty, cooked well, clean distinct flavors, and amazing portions. We did not leave hungry and had leftovers to take home. The dessert winner was the road to Hana chocolate mousse, rich dark chocolate everything. After all the flavor richness throughout the meal from goat cheese on soaked beets, to the marrow in the osso buco reduction, to the garlic chive butter on rolls, the slightly bitter, smooth, chocolate finish was the perfect conclusion to an amazing meal. They do not allow children under the age of 12 to dine currently due to the Covid vaccination requirements currently, though I saw a family w/a young infant in a carrier in the restaurant. We were celebrating our 35th (eeek!) wedding anniversary and booked seats at the bar as recommended by friends who visit the Grill on a regular basis. Hubbs actually put on suede loafers instead of slippers, and I dusted down a dress, so we were all glammed up for our date night :) We scored free street parking outside which was a good start to the night. But sadly it went downhill when we entered the LG. Our booking had been changed from the bar to a small table for 2 at the back of the restaurant. We always eat at the bar if we can as the vibe is more relaxing. We looked at the empty bar where only 4 people were seated and couldn't understand why we had been bumped, but there wasn't much we could do. Service was fast, a little too fast, but luckily we had perused the menu at home and knew what we wanted already, although the risotto threw me a curve ball as I was expecting mushroom and it turned out to be smoked mozzarella which I'm not keen on. We ordered: Godello wine - a Spanish wine akin to Chablis, apple/lemon/mineral notes, very refreshing and easy to drink Blood Orange mocktail - mixed with spices, smells like Christmas in a glass Caviar Devilled eggs - you only get one egg, halved, sitting on celery microgreens so a very small portion but the caviar is the price factor Onion Soup - I always order this if on the menu. It is my litmus dish to test a chef. This one was delicious, full of flavour with a melty cheese topping. Don't burn your mouth as it comes out piping hot! Chile Relleno - This was a disappointment as it had an Italian marinara sauce instead of a Mexican salsa base so it was a little odd tasting. No heat, no Mexican spices, just blah bland. Duck Confit - the hit of the evening! Duck falls off the bone, the sauce is delicious and the mash was tasty even though you couldn't actually taste the foie gras specifically. The roast garlic was a hit as Hubbs loves it! Early in our meal a server came to give us a nice card signed by the staff and had a camera ready, but I declined. I don't like photos which might be used for advertising purposes, plus we just wanted a quiet date night. I found this a little tacky, along with the free dessert we were given. Yes, I know, it sounds ungrateful of me, and my hubby did enjoy the delicious berry pie immensely, it just felt a little tacky and disneyesque, run of the mill type of event at the restaurant. Not really sincere. A little uncomfortable. I just didn't like the vibe of the restaurant for some reason. It felt old school and the dishes used the same ingredients in every dish so felt a little school cafeteria too. Bland and boring, expected and nothing unusual. With so many chefs on Maui creating unusual and exciting dishes it just felt....meh. The price point didn't match the menu. We have had far better meals on Maui (nYlos in Paia, Japengo in Kaanapali, Ekolu Kitchen 1279 in Kihei). Plus no Kamaaina discount. I think we will give this restaurant a miss in future. The fact that they offer a sampler platter where you can choose 4 different desserts and get mini versions to try. I am the kinda person that has fear of missing out. Lahaina Grill is an excellent choice for anyone who is looking for a higher quality dining experience. Upon arrival, we were seated and they provided small envelopes to store our masks during our dinner, which was a nice touch so that our masks didn't get dirty. I'm a big scotch fan and ordered the smoking gun. Their cocktails are on the pricier side ($19), but if you're a fan of whisky, scotch, you'll love the smoking gun. There was subtle spice from the garam masala apple syrup that helped add a bit of complexity to the dish. It could have probably have been served with a bit less ice. They also have a wine list with options by the glass, half-bottle and full bottles. They gave HOT bread and a garlic herb butter at the beginning of the dinner. I love warm bread, but wished the butter was a bit softer. However, it quickly melted on the hot bread. Wagyu Beef Ravioli: the description they provided is an accurate representation of the taste profile. The truffle aroma really came through and the braised apple helped cut down on all the richness from the cream. It is a bit pricey for the size (3 ravioli) although the flavors were excellent. Fresh Fish Chowder: I appreciated that this chowder was not too creamy and they did use a lot of seafood. With that being said, I think the broth flavors could have been developed more and is the one dish of the night that I wouldn't mind skipping. Marcho Farms Center Cut All Natural Veal "osso buco": If you're looking for a super rich and filling meat dish, then look no further. The veal was very tender and fell right off the bone and the cabernet wine sauce it was braised in was excellent. They also provide you a small silverware to help scoop all the bone marrow. Sesame seed crusted monchon over Maui onion risotto: This was one of their specials and I am SOO happy that we decided to get it. The fish and crust tasted amazing, and the mushrooms added a bit of an earthy flavor. My wife and I were super stuffed and were not expecting to order dessert. However, they gave us a complimentary triple berry pie dessert for our anniversary, which was very "sweet" of them. The dessert was not overly sweet and the crust had a nice flaky texture. Pro Tip: If you don't see a reservation time available, I recommend giving them a call as they have times that aren't shown on OpenTable. read more

This was one of our splurge dinners during our trip to Maui, and well worth it! The place seems a bit crowded at first, but you notice everything around you working like clockwork and I was in awe at their quiet efficiency. Their portions are generous, and I'm glad I didn't get an appetizer (or a salad) for myself before the main course. Our server Richard, was exceptional. He had recommendations for us and the food that came out was just perfect. Starting off with the fish chowder where the herbaceous oil complimented the soup perfectly. We got the sesame crusted ahi tuna, this was my favorite, and the tuna was cooked to perfection, I recall pronouncing it "life changing" at my first bite! Everything about this dish was outstanding. We also got the veal osso bucco which was delicious too. The road to Hana was a great decadent chocolatey dessert ... I could eat this all day! As former Maui residents, Regina and I have eaten there many times since it opened in 1990, though never together. We rectified that while visiting Maui for a week. Our server Scott was totally awesome from start to finish. Regina had a Maui Mule and I had g & t. Nicely done. We followed with a Lobster Crab cake, Tequila Shrimp and the Seafood Special. Probably the best high end restaurant on Maui. Expectations (and pricing wise), I'd put this as comparable to a solid one Michelin star restaurant - there isn't anything super unique here, but most dishes were well made and at a price point of roughly 150 a person, it's worth a stop if you are looking for something fancier in Maui. Sweet onion Maui Soup - 1.5/5. The big miss we had of the night. Soup was just way too salty to be enjoyable sadly, though it would have been good if it had less salt. Deviled eggs with caviar - 3/5. Tastes were okay, but the dish just felt a bit too simple and not worth the money. Wagyu beef ravioli with mushroom sauce - 4.5/5. Texture of the beef was really good, sauce was good without being overwhelming. I'd save your French dinner rolls so you can use this sauce as dip for it as it was quite good. Opakapaka special - 4.5/5. Fish was cooked well and was tender and flaky. Liked the sweet sauce that came with it, risotto was creamy and well done. Scallops - 4.5/5 seared well, very tender. What you'd expect out of this dish, and done well. Berry pie - 4.5/5. Can really taste the berries rather than the sugar, just the right amount of tart, crust was good. read more

10/10 recommend coming here while in Maui. We made reservations, which you absolutely need, prior to arriving for our trip. Our server was Buddy who providing a great welcoming service. Buddy was funny, concise, and made us feel comfortable. The entire staff was attentive and created a seamless experience while eating here. For appetizers we had the wagyu beef ravioli which were delicious and come in a portion of 3 raviolis. We also shared the Maui onion soup which was just okay in my opinion. We ordered the lamb special and the monchong. The lamb was delicious, super tender and the bed of bleu cheese potatoes it was served on were the best. The monchong fish wasn't my personal taste but my fiancé loved it and was satisfied with the order. We finished our dinner with 2 cups of coffee which was the perfect ending to our meal. Overall we had an amazing experience. Out the door with tip included our bill was about $300. This is a pricey restaurant but we'll worth it. The only thing that disappointed me was the owner was walking around talking to every table, checking in on them and introducing himself. He checked on the table next to us several times.
