Worst fish dinner ever. Unless you get it fried there's no flavor and nothing to flavor it with except salt and pepper. Service is as well as can be with the lack of people wanting to work for a living. I guess I like my fish to have something besides the tin foil taste. And for the price you get half of what you would get going somewhere else. read more

They do not take credit cards. The lady said we can use the teller machine in the lobby. I am not going to pay someone the extra fee to get money just so they can save on a phone line or credit card machine that will pay for itself tenfold. We walked out. If you want good "Fishcamp food" this is the place. It is a family owned business and many of the staff have been there for years. They are usually very busy on the weekends but is worth the wait. Seating near the windows offer an excellent view of Lake Bowen. Definitely a favorite of the community. read more

Had a similar experience to Lori but without the food. Stopped in to get a to go order. My first time there and didn't know how the process worked. So I got in line at the register and picked up a menu. Both ladies at the register gave me a hairy eyeball and motioned for the people behind me to come forward ahead if me. Located on Lake Bowen so ask to be seated with a view. The owners have paid an artist to decorate all of the walls and ceilings so it is a rather interesting place to visit. This isn't a "fancy" seafood place but a place that the locals go to for cheap fried (although you can get it broiled) seafood and hamburger steaks. Expect fries, cole slaw, hush puppies, and onions that have been soaked in vinegar. Long lines in the winter and on the weekends. Many get there as early as 4:30 p.m. for dinner. read more

This restaurant used to be good but it is no longer worth the drive. After many years of eating at Lake Bowen Fish Camp, I feel like this will be the last time I take my family there. The quality of the food is just as good as it has ever been but the pricing has skyrocketed while the portion sizes have been severely reduced. Tonight we had our usual family of four dining in and we were very surprised to find that the seafood platter now only includes 2 oysters and 1 scallop. We tried to compensate for the shortage by ordering an additional side of scallops for $10.99 and they brought us 4 more in a small Styrofoam cup. When I saw that, I asked them to take it back. There is no way I'm paying $2.75 for a single scallop. Even the seafood platter description offers "scallops" which should indicate more than one but we inquired about the shortage at the register and the cashier confirmed that only 1 scallop is included with the platter. To add insult to injury, a meal that would normally cost a family of 4 around $60 cost close to $100 now and with this restaurant being "cash only", it is simply no longer worth the trip as other quality seafood restaurants in this area are offering more for less. read more

Requires workers to be "on call" the nights that they are off and it is unpaid. They can't go anywhere just in case they have to get called in. #1 this is illegal. Also heard from my sister that they ripped up someone's paycheck that was fired, also illegal. read more

Would NOT recommend. There is no sign on the door stating cash only. Cashier was extremely rude about the fact they didn't take cards. Then snatched the money out of my moms hand, all while some of the little young girls standing around, giggled. Spoke to the manager about the rude lady, and he stated signs were around about cash only. I never saw one and feel it should be on the entrance door before someone even comes in. I am not looking around for cash only signs once I sit down. Not to mention there is A LOT going on in the restaurant, as the walls and ceilings are painted with birds, plants, planes etc. Manager said he would talk to her, hopefully she doesn't treat other people like that. Food was great, and our waitress was AMAZING. But being looked at like I was lower class or trash, as the cashier snarled her nose was enough for me to not plan on going back and recommending others do not even waste their time. My son took me out to eat here today for my birthday. I have not been in years. I got the salt and pepper cat fish which was so delicious and I got fried flounder go with it. The hush puppies was also wonderful. i will get all salt and pepper cat fish next time. the slaw was really good too.My son got the broiled flounder which was not alot and much flavor to it. I had some to bring home but I was a little disappointed for him since he drove all the way from Greenville and had never been there before.The food did get to us pretty fast and was hot.I mean it was good just wished that his had been better. read more

The Sunday lunch is amazing! I had way more than I could eat...well worth the money in my opinion.

Found this Resturant after stopping to get strawberries at fruit stand off exit 10. Only down side is cash or check to pay but they have a ATM inside. I ordered the flounder platter with baked potato, slaw, hush puppies. All were wonderful. My husband got the sampler stuffed crab, popcorn shrimp, shrimp, fried oysters, flounder, catfish, fries and hush puppies. We brought home some of the fish. View was of the beautiful lake Bowen. Staff friendly. Waitress was busy with a lot of tables but quick and friendly. Decor was all painted scenes. We will stop again. read more

Great Lake view restaurant which is called a Fish Camp in this region. It is a Local Dive that many upstate people frequent. It is not a high end seafood restaurant but is exceptionally fast service with a great selection of fried and broiled seafood. They do not have the traditional Coastal Fish one would think but you will definitely enjoy the down south hospitable atmosphere, relaxing views and good foot. read more

Worst service we have ever had there. We usually go once a week. No more. And the rudest of all was the hostess. I don't know why they can't seem to accommodate a group of 10 when they have before. The hostess would not even try and was not even nice about the situation. So we sat at 2 different tables. They would not even consider putting them together. Then several orders were wrong. My husband and I went to a car show at Cooley Springs Baptist Church. He won a gift certificate to your fish camp.Most of the time if you win a free dinner it is a small dinner and you buy the drink, not at Lake Bowen! They told is to order any two dinners, the meal was great, the lake was beautiful and the atmosphere was wonderful and the drinks were included!! We will for sure be back!
