The grill is now offers a Mexican themed menu. Food was mediocre at best. Friendly host and initial waiter. We had high hopes for a good Mexican restaurant close by, but we probably should have gotten a hint when it was totally empty on a Friday evening. Definitely not worth the price for the quality or flavor and it's all a la carte. Most entrees were in the $22-$26 range, with none of the typical rice or beans. Our bill for an order of 3 small enchiladas, one burrito and two house margaritas was 79.00. To be honest, and not being sarcastic-Taco Bell's fast food offerings have more flavor, while not really apples to apples. Crystals Mexican Restaurant in Broadheadsville offers a better quality meal at more reasonable prices. The Margaritas were pricey for what was served. The decor was very tired and the only Mexican decor was some plastic flag garland and narrow runners on the table. Not exactly the caliber of food one would expect at a resort. read more

Due to some unforeseen changes in our lodging while in the Poconos, we ended up not having previously made dinner reservations in this particular area. Every other place on the lake was beyond packed, some not even taking further standbys. Mind you, we were trying to have our anniversary dinner. All dressed up - celebrating our first wedding anniversary - and ended up in the tackiest looking place with awful food. This place was EMPTY... as in, we could barely find staff. The host podium was empty and so was the entire restaurant. We thought maybe they weren't open anymore. This was a Saturday evening at that! We really had NO other choice since the town we were originally staying in lost power and we had to relocate to another hotel (Split Rock Resort). This place was empty for a reason. This was basically what you'd get as cheap room service at about $25 a plate. My husband ordered the salmon which came with "vegetables" and I ordered the only thing on the seriously limited menu that I thought couldn't possibly go too wrong, the chicken fajitas. Service was terribly slow; which was hard to understand considering NO ONE ELSE was there. When we finally got our food, it was so sad looking. The piece of salmon was so tiny, you'd think it was an appetizer rather than a main dish. As for the "vegetable side", there was a sad lump of soggy spinach that was maybe two bites worth. As for my fajitas, man oh man was I wrong. The meat and stir fried peppers and onions were so wet and oily. A few bites in and I was completely over it. Trust me, it wasn't even worth taking photos of the food to post here, it was just so terribly disappointing. I barely wanted to eat and just get back to my hotel. We were still picking at our food since we knew everything was closed or close to closing so we didn't have any options to get something else - and the waiters kept coming up to us asking if we wanted to go boxes and even asked to give us our check, while barely halfway into the 'meal'. It was such a bad experience and really soured our entire evening. I really don't recommend this place at all. Please plan ahead if you're in this area as there are limited options for dining and they all seem to fill up quickly during summer weekend evenings. This was a really pathetic experience. Avoid avoid avoid. You're better off at the McDonald's about a 10 min drive away. read more

Word on the street is that the resort is now owned by a corporation in Mexico City, so that is why it's impossible to call and ask about hours or anything like that. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. They are short staffed so it is buffet only. Breakfast was standard hotel buffet fare (scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, fruit cocktail, etc). Quality was decent, especially for the Poconos. $15/person. Probably the best thing about this place is the view. On a Sunday morning we were the only guests and had the patio to ourselves. So if you are looking for a view and/or are especially hungry, check it out. read more

Came to Split Rock for this weekend, the whole family, party of 10. After some deliberation whether to eat in pub downstairs, we headed upstairs for the better menu and view from the outside deck. We get up there, with a rather large party (8 adults / 2 children) and were seated quickly - inside because outside was filled up. Within 15. minutes, water was poured, bread arrived and our orders were taken. We ordered 8 various small plates, and 2 kids meals, and 2 salads. After waiting about 25-30 minutes, the first food came out, 1 kid's meal, and a pair avocado quesadillas, only they forgot the avocado?? so they brought out some on the side about 5 minutes later, along with a other meal. apologies for the wait were given, but now we were at about 45-50 minutes since we ordered a handful of simple small dishes, and we had no refills on beverages, or bread, and 5 adults and a child with no food - not even a salad ???? It was particularly frustrating since a party of six was seated next to us after we had been there 5 minutes, and they literally had finished their dinner with dessert, paid their bill and were leaving. We had enough, called over the manager, as the 2nd kids meal was being brought out - the other 5 adult meals nowhere in sight adter nearly and hour of waiting. We cut our losses, paid for what we had actually received, plus tip, and left. VERY DISAPPOINTED in this place. I was told the food that did come out was mediocre at best, but I would not know first hand, because my meal never came out. Seems my review is in the minority - I guess time will tell. read more

My 3 friends and I came to the area for a girls weekend. We were staying close by and decided to try this place for dinner. We were seated on the deck with a nice view of the lake. We ordered our drinks and food. All of our sodas (three different kinds) tasted terrible. Our waitress was no where to be found after ordering so we called over another employee to inform him of the issue with our drinks and asked for water. About 20 mins later, our waitress came out with our water, didn't speak to us or ask about our sodas and left. Two more parties of 2 came in about 15 mins after we ordered and got their food before us. It took 55 mins to get our food. We still had not seen our waitress since she brought our waters so we had to flag down another waitress to ask about it. Our food was mediocre at best. We got house salad, shrimp cocktail which was ok, chicken Caesar salad, crab cakes (descent) and Philly cheesesteak which was not Philly at all with lettuce and tomato. The only thing saving this place from receiving one star is the view. Service was terrible and food was mediocre at best. Avoid this place unless you're just looking for a glass of ice water and a view. read more

We walked in and waited 10 minutes while the rude manager ignored us right in front of his face. He then told us it would be about a fifteen minute wait even though the place was mostly empty with many tables open. No one was at the bar or even seemed slightly interested that we may want a drink while waiting. Our waitress forgot to bring out bread and blamed it on the busboy. When the food finally came out, the "Angel hair pasta" was a plate full of canned stewed tomatoes with about a fork full of pasta. My girlfriend's son got BBQ wings which had a hair in them. At least they took the nasty pasta off the bill. Waist of time and money. read more

My family and I went here last night for dinner. All I can say is "WOWZA!!!! " We got a few smalls plates to share and everything was so incredibly delicious, it's hard to choose my favorite. I guess I'll have to go with the mahi mahi fish tacos as my absolute fave, then probably the filet mignon sliders followed by the scallops. Everything was delicious, beautifully presented, and reasonably priced. Topped off with a delicious glass of crisp cold Reisling, awesome service, picturesque lake views and a super talented piano player to add some ambience; I can safely say this was without a doubt, one of the best meals I've had in a long time. How is the place open? Turn away! Awful service, food was mediocre and wrongly advertised, and just a completely horrible experience!! First, we called in advance for a reservation at 7:30. Finally seated at 8:00, even though there were plenty of tables available. In stead of clearing tables, the host was wondering around doing nothing. While we waited, the host told other families the wait was 1-1.5 hours even though there were open tables! Once seated, we found out there were no cocktails (even though there is a complete bar). We got bread and water to hold us down for the following hour or more waiting for the food! Food presentation was decent. Only issue was that the food was room temperature, over cooked (steaks) and most importantly, not what we ordered! The menu sides were NOT the same that were served. The salmon said it came with broccolini and risotto...came with broccoli and raw rice. The pork chop was supposed to come with sweet potato gnocchi, and it came with fried sweet potato (gnocchi is not fried!!)! Scallops's risotto was just rice with cheese. I can't say enough about the fantastic service my family received from Julianna (guessing at the spelling of her name). She was exceptionally pleasant and professional. She paid attention to details and made our dining experience a sheer pleasure. Two of the people in my party work in the restaurant industry and their assessment was as glowing as mine. The food was also quite good. We shared the Mozzarella Burrata and everyone, including the six year old at our table, thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the crab cake starter and both the crab cake and the Asian salad over which it was served were marvelous. A lovely chili dressing was a lovely addition to the flavors in the food. Two members of our party had the ravioli in vodka sauce. It was a huge portion and both raved about it and took home their leftovers. Just a quick note, the raviolis are stuffed with three cheeses. The menu makes it seem as though the serving size is three raviolis. Another member of our party had the Panko Chicken with pasta. He also took home, and ate, the leftovers! The six year old ordered chicken fingers and, this child who is a not a good eater, finished the meal. Desserts were also fantastic. The ice cream was rich and flavorful. My daughter swore she tasted vanilla bean. The chocolate simply enveloped you. We went to this restaurant on the last night of our vacation at Mountain Laurel Resort. Unbelievable. No other word can describe our dinner tonight. I tasted everyone's dish and I was utterly satisfied with everything and that is coming from an extremely picky eater used to her own home cooked meals. For starters the muscles were incredible, the burrata was high quality, and the chicken quesadilla was enough to be an entree. Salads were beyond compare and the deliciousness of the entrees was mind boggling. Rib eye steak cooked and seasoned to perfection, pork chop was tender and succulent as it was perfectly seared and portioned. Not only was the service lack luster, but the food was worth forgetting about. I had to send back the flank steak and ordered it medium and received it well over well done. It was funny that when I called to make a reservation at 7:30 pm they told us to come at 8:30 because they were very busy. We arrived early about 8 pm. The huge dining room that can seat about 15 tables had only 3 tables of people and the outside dining area had 5 tables seated at most. I thought they can well accommodate the four of us but told us to come an hour later. The rib eye steaks were requested to be cooked medium rare but they were on the rare side for my husband and my son. I had the salmon and his girlfriend had the Mahi Mahi which were so so. They gave us 5 very small slices (2 inches in diameter) of bread of which we had to ask for more. We had a salad and a soup. Service was adequate from ordering to serving. The food was reasonably presented. The portions were small and definitely not worth the price charged. We spent $160 + for four. I thought it was a bit pricey for a local restaurant in the area. read more
