Worst experience I have ever had. The hostess/waitress was the rudest person I have met in a long time. Right when we walked in the door she was yelling at us "how many!? Did not read reviews before we came in. It seems from reviews that People either love this place or hate it. I really liked it. I had fish sandwich with fries and coleslaw. Meal was hot and fresh. My husband had crab cakes and clam chowder. Very good. Chowder was thick and lots of clams. Staff were friendly and food came out in about 15 minutes. I felt they were very attentive. We sat in the restaurant part. The bar was kind of loud and it seems that is where the "locals" go. I would come here again!:) read more

I ate here not to long ago with my fiancee. We were down celebrating our (4 year dating anniversary) The food was great! My only complaint is after we ordered, When we got our food, my food wasn't hot! I ordered some pulled pork sliders and onion rings. They were lukewarm. So forgive me for being slightly disappointed. Their clam chowder was some of the best I have EVER had, wow! Service was amazing. Our server was the only one on shift for a while and still provided great service. I do think the place is way overpriced though. Kids menu chicken strips and fries were $13.50, which would be okay if they were made in-house but they're obviously generic frozen. Fish and chips and popcorn chips are frozen/fried which is fine but the cost doesn't justify the quality. The tacos were ok. Good even. Server was a bit impatient : frustrated we hadn't chosen YET .. sigh! Yes the check was incorrect too. It was wrong from start to finish and that's pretty hard to do . Sports bar with simple fare done well. We had steamed clams, crab cakes, clam chowder and chicken dried steak. All made in house and delicious. Turn around on food was super quick, and staff was very friendly and provided great service. Looking forward to coming back P.S. Their clam chowder is a must try item. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. It was my birthday Friday the 6th. My friend and I decided to try this place out. We walked in there's a sign that says wait to be seated even for the bar. We waited around 5 minutes or so before someone asked us if anyone had helped us yet. When we replayed no they went to get the lady on shift. We weren't greeting kindly. She came out look at us responded with a yeah...? I said a table for 2. She pointed to a booth and then never came back. She was too involved in stalking then helping her paying customers. I'm in the industry so I know how things are supposed to work. This lady has no hospitality and should not be working customer service. If it hadn't been for a girl working at the next place we stopped at who apologized to me and said she happed to work there too I would never go back to that restaurant. I will try it out again though and just hope I don't get the lady who was working the afternoon shift Friday may 6th. This review has nothing to do with the food or drink we never got that far. We have tried this place twice since we have been in town. I understand your menu is out dated but come on, put a new one up. Had the prices not been such an extreme difference i wouldn't even be writing this. A bowl of very disappointing clam chowder with the out dated crackers was $8.50, not $5. Pizza was $21 when the menu said $15.50 and the salad was $11.95 not $7.95. The pizza was very disappointing, the crust was just like cardboard. I went to Lakeside Hideaway today after placing a phone in order to pick up. When I arrived, this was place was full with people. Many eating at tables while others were there picking up food orders to go. There was one waitress for this entire place! Her name is Heather and I have never seen anyone work as hard as she was while doing it all with a smile. She seated people as they came in, delivered drinks to tables and took orders. She checked people out that had call in orders while delivering food to tables and still made time to walk around and check on people to see if they needed anything else. She never once became frustrated, or upset at the amount of people and work there was to do. I was so impressed by her. In this day and age of post Covid and all places suffering in trying to get great help, Lakeside Hideaway has Heather and I want to express my thanks and gratitude to the owners for hiring such a unique and wonderful person to help people there. Please people....when you tip, tip them well. We really are lucky that places like this have managed to stay open and ahead of post Covid as well and managing running a place with not enough staff. It is difficult and tiring on those that work their tails off and when you are lucky enough to be helped by someone like Heather....count your day as made! Heather....THANK YOU personally from me. At a recommendation of their Clam Chowder, we went to the Lakeside Hideaway on May 29th. There were several open tables and we were told to sit anywhere. After more than 10 minutes of being ignored I went to the cashier and asked for menus. I took them back to the table, and eventually we were served. The Clam Chowder was excellent, the service poor, the reset of the food so so. . When I got the bill. it did not have an itemization an it seemed way too much. I went to the cashier to question the bill and she threw down her pen, glared at me and in a snippy voice said "Do you want me to do the math for you? I said no just let me see the menu vs what i ordered. This response was "I am tired of this shit" threw down her notepad and walked away, and mumbled something about the manager raising prices. We were with my wifes elderly cousin, so I did not want to make a scene. We left. NO chowder is worth that kind of service. read more

I randomly stumbled onto this place on my PNW roadtrip. The service was friendly the shrimp salad was bomb and judging from the look of the food coming out of that kitchen everything they do is good. The food was ok, nit bad but not exactly good either. The pizza was tolerable. But the house salad was fresh lettuce. Again, the waitstaff was very nice. Have you ever wanted to see me sing the hits by artists such as George Michael, Wilson Philips and Dolly Parton, you totally should have been at the Lakeside Hideaway last weekend. About a dozen of us rolled into the bar on a Saturday night. Though it was my first visit, a travel companion of mine swore by Lakeside Hideaway, saying it was his favorite karaoke spot on the coast. It was easy to see why. The KJ Denise was pretty awesome, the book of available songs was exhaustive and impressive, and the crowd had a great mix of really good singers and ones that were hilariously awful. But what really made the bar so fantastic was the crowd. A large, boisterous gaggle of big city gays, we weren't sure how we'd be received in this small town bar. By the end of the night we were packed on the dance floor with people from all walks of life, brought together by the magic that is karaoke. I know "not being full of bigots" isn't exactly high praise, so allow me a moment to also say that the bar served good drinks at a reasonable price, had a pretty good AV system and attracted a fun crowd. Everybody was supportive of whomever was singing at the time, and it didn't take a miracle to get a chance to perform. My one suggestion would be to cut down on the downtime between songs, but even that wasn't THAT bad. We had a blast. Total highlight of my weekend. If I'm back in Rockaway Beach, I'll be back to Lakeside Hideaway. read more

There were two girls working and neither one of them even greeted us or acknowledged us in any way. I would have gotten up and walked out, but unfortunately we had walked here from our hotel and there wasn't anywhere else within walking distance. So we sat it out. As we were waiting to just be acknowledged, I watched one of the servers deliver drinks to one of the tables of locals 3 times and we still didn't even get even so much as a hello. I guess you have to be a local here to get service. Watched another couple come in and sit down and it was 10 minutes before they got service, but another couple (who must have been locals based on their conversation) came in and sat at the table right next to the first couple and low and behold, they were served almost immediately. When the server finally came and took our order, she stopped to clear off a table before putting our order in, not only that, but she came back and cleared it some more before finally going and putting our order in. No one came back to check on us and we weren't even offered another drink once we had finished our first. We definitely felt ignored and unwelcome. I understand the locals are their bread and butter, but a little attention to the visitors would be nice. Very disappointing experience. read more

We've been coming to Rockaway Beach for years, but this was our first visit to the Lakeside Hideaway. It was clean inside, and the food was very good. I had the Hawaiian burger and my wife had the French Dip. Both were very good, done just right. I can tell their cooks know what they are doing and care about the food they serve. Yikes! Chowder is really thick, Tasty, but COLD. Hubby and I both ordered sliders with swiss cheese. They arrived with hot tasty fries, NO CONDIMENTS, DRY, OVERCOOKED MEAT, HARD AS A HOCkY PUCK, barely any discernible cheese, with a couple dill chips as garnish. No lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo, mustard or sauce. Dry bun. Hubby ordered a side salad, iceburg lettuce and a few carrot strips poured right out of the bag! Pathetic, at best. When the waitress finally came back to our table for the first time since she took our order, she asked if we wanted our bill. We had not received our food! A salad was supposed to be included with my meal, but I never received it. I mentioned it when I paid and was told, "Well it was all included with the price of the meal." I KNOW THAT!
