I have to admit, reading recent bad reviews made me a little apprehensive about ordering here but they were one of the few places that opened extra early so I didn't have many options. I called Thursday evening and placed a to-go order for a small tray of Banh Beo and 20 nem cuon for Saturday at 8:30am. I came in and noticed they had pre-made a bunch of different items that they wrapped up and laid on the table for those last minute folks. They had my order right on time and I had no issues. They wore masks and the cashier lady that helped me out was nice and efficient. They updated their tray prices so my small tray of banh beo (100 pieces) and 20 nem cuon cost $59. read more

The chicken wings are fire !!!! If you have a potluck, one tray of wings (garlic butter or fish sauce) is super affordable!!! This is my go to spot for all potluck parties lol. You'll definitely feel like a packed sardine in here but nevertheless, this place is AMAZING!! Super convenient for going to a family potluck or even if I'm too lazy to cook. They serve various trays of Vietnamese food, great for catering! My favorites are the Banh Bot Loc (sticky, clear pork/shrimp Vietnamese dumplings) and the Banh Beo (small savory shrimp rice cakes). All trays range from $20-$30. Both these trays costed $25 for me which is a steal!! You just come in, search their tables for whats available (you can also request items if you dont see them on the table and they are very nice about trying to accommodate), go to the register and pay! The workers here speak English too so no having to worry about awkward language barriers & having to use excessive sign language :D Located in the ABC Supermarket plaza on the other side at the very corner. Whenever I need last minute food options for parties, I come here because they have lots of variety for Vietnamese food trays at are ready for pick-up. My favorite from here though need to be order in advanced. It's the garlic butter chicken wings. Deep fried with tons of garlic butter goodness. Minimum order is 5lb tray and that runs for $35-40? Place gets crazy packed for orders!!! Lots of really good options for catering though for OC. Be prepared for a little bit of a line, and cash only like a lot of little Saigon establishments. Ordered Banh Cuon Thit, Com Chien Tom, Banh Cuon Tom Thit, Goi Sen... all delicious and held well til we were ready to eat. We had some Nem chua they made in house that wasn't bad. Sleep on your beds, but not on Lam Van! I'll stop by every now and then to grab their nem nuong cuon or egg rolls whenever I'm in need of a snack or some fuel while I run errands around town. Nem Nuong rolls: 10/10. So much superior than Brodard in terms of taste, looks, freshness, and price. Even after several hours, they're still crunchy! Egg rolls: Perfect amount of savory, crispness, dare I say, the best egg rolls I've ever had? Nuoc mam wings: *chef's kiss* #$$%ing amazing, full of flavor, and one of the best I've had. Not too sweet, not too salty, but just right. Banh It: Also amazing, crispy, and well-seasoned with the perfect amount of savoriness. Honestly, I could go on about how tasty the food is here. Lam Van is one of best places to get Vietnamese food to go. This is THEE spot to get your party trays and prepacked individual meals. Located in the same parking lot as ABC Supermarket, Banh Mi Che Cali, Gallop Liquor, Lo Cha Lua Thai Binh- I always dread coming here but my parents loooooooove their food. This is by far the WORST parking lot EVER!! I promise I'm not exaggerating. The Vietnamese television even warn you about the crime that occurs in this parking lot, which includes but not limited to pick pocketing and illegal fruit selling. From your more commonly seen party trays like fried rice and stir fried egg noodles to more authentic items like banh beo, banh nam, banh bot loc, ga chien bo and nem nuong, it's as good as it gets here. I truly believe they maintain their authenticity because they probably people who are fresh from Vietnam... these people don't speak ANY English... and they will straight up hang up on you if you can't fluently speak Vietnamese when you order. One time my Vietnamese coworker asked me to call in an order for party trays for her daughters birthday and when I gave them her name, they asked for the Vietnamese name. She has a really easy 'American' name too... so we were both pretty baffled. If phoning in an order is too intimidating for you, just come pick it up and point to what you want. They usually have plenty of the popular items available and pre-packaged for purchase. It is beyond a hassle coming here but it makes my parents so happy and the food is so authentic. Most of these items aren't difficult to make but they are so time consuming, so it's easier to buy it. I pick up a few trays every so often and it saves my mom from cooking for the week. I never expect much service at an Asian restaurant. But this place deserve less then 1 star. Service is rude over the years but today is the worst. My mom came in to pick up some fish cakes. She asked for 2 big pieces of fish cakes and please cut it up. The guy (owner) at the cashier said he don't have time to cut it up and you buy few items only not worth my time to my mom. Boy, what did this place do to garner such an address? Not only is their address blessed with the number "8", but to be blessed with four of them. WOW.... business must be booming! I was waiting for my lunch pal to arrive so I walked into this place to browse. I couldn't wait to come back in here to purchase some food to bring home. So after lunch, I went back in and bought some grilled meatballs (nem nuong) for $5, some steamed rice cakes (banh beo) for $3. There are frozen spring rolls too you can take home to fry. Rolls and other things can be bought in party trays. The window says they have Bun Bun Hue (beef noodle soup Hue style) but it was just a store with a counter, not unlike what you would come across at a bakery so I was a bit surprised that they would sell Bun Bo Hue. I didn't ask the ladies behind the counter because their English wasn't so great. The nem nuong is great, a little sweet for my tastes, but I put chili on it and it was delicious. The dipping sauce was far better than the one at Brodard. The banh beo was also delish. There was dried shrimp, scallions and fried garlic sprinkled on top. I always bought the party trays here, but the July 4th incident really disappointed me. I ordered a day before July 4th, one tray egg rolls and one fried noodle. On the morning of July 4th, I called to confirm. They said just come because they didn't have time to look for the order paper. When I came in the afternoon to pick up, there was a long line of about 10-15 people waiting. When it's my turn, the lady at the pick up window, didn't even look for the order, told me that nothing was ready for me, and that I had to wait for at least 1.5 hour. I was shocked, looked to the long waiting line and understood. All orders were not ready. Some people decided to buy whatever was available on the table, because they had no time to wait and so did I. I left and went to Lien Hue in the same plaza. They took out the frozen egg rolls and fried them right away for me, and the tray cost less than Lâm Vân too. A thumb up for Lien Hue and down for Lam Van. read more

Lam Van has become careless and rude because they do good business. The food is okay but prices are expensive. It's quick and easy way to get food more parties but they have no customer service at all. The last two times they were rude and didn't care at all. I ordered chicken wings with NO fish sauce and they put fish sauce and when I picked up they didn't care that they messed up the order. The lady said that's the way it is and she didn't care that now I have chicken wings that my kid wouldn't eat. Second time, I tried to order and she said they are out and just hung up on me. This is a really good place for Vietnamese food to go. They have the trays ready for you, so you don't really have to call and pre-order. All you need to do is walk in and grab whatever tray you want and pay. Most of the trays are around 20-30. The banh cuon wasn't as chewy as I hoped. The thit bo la lot was pretty good. Ive been to this place many times for the chicken wings. Today, we ordered a tray of wings and paid ahead. Was told to come back at least in an hour because they are very busy and backed up on the orders. When we came back, the food was not ready because "we didn't come back in an hour like she said". She insisted that it was our fault for not coming back in an hour. We gave them 2 hours to make our food because they were busy. How was that our fault when we already prepaid and they never called us like they said they would? I have read so many reviews about this place giving your orders away to other people if youre not there to pick up. I get it if it wasnt paid, but to prepaid orders too? What was more annoying was the lady was so rude. This was not the first time. I used to think "oh.. maybe they just talk like that". Every time i go here, I feel like people have to know their rules or they start giving people attitude. SO RUDE. The customer service at this place is ridiculously terrible. Its been so terrible that i think customers have become accustomed to it...to the point where they think it is acceptable. The lady at the front is always so rude treating people like they come here begging for food. There are so many other places that offer the same food. I will never go here ever again. I grew up in Little Saigon so little restaurant/to-go places will always have a soft spot in my heart. I used to come here as a kid with my mom every so often and we would always order their pre made plates like banh beo (steamed rice cakes with shrimp and fish sauce), goi cuon (spring rolls) or their banh nam (steamed rice cakes in bananas leaves with shrimp). Today I came into the store to order some nem nuong (grilled pork rolls with a dipping sauce). The line was long and wrapped around their main table, which displays party trays or single servings of their menu. I got here around 4pm and there were only 3 party trays left on the table. I imagine this big table is filled with delicious entrees early in the day. The lady who helped me was very nice. I ordered 8 nem nuong for $9.60 - $1.20 for each roll, which is cheaper than Brodard's! This place is CASH ONLY so definitely remember that! I waited on the side for them to make my rolls and it comes with plenty of dipping sauce and some fresh peppers for you to mash into your sauce for some heat. The rolls were delicious for the price and I would come back to order more because I like their dipping sauce more than Brodard's. Brodard's is thick and starchy but some may enjoy that sauce more. This place also adds the crunchy part of the nem nuong inside their rolls so you're not missing out! My star rating is because they have the best Nuoc Mam (fish sauce) chicken wings! I came on New Year's Eve to pick up some rings for our dinner party. There was a line of 4 people in front of me, but service is quick. I waited at most 5 minutes. They sold me a tray of nuoc man rings that were already to go for $35. That's such a great deal. The wings tasted amazing, and were crunchy even after a few hours. The next day we put them in the air fryer and they were perfectly crispy again. I wish I knew their recipe. Love this place for their Banh Nam & they're so nice-especially to me, an Asian American with broken Viet. They didn't judge me for my poor speaking nor did they try to get me to stop by changing to English. Instead they kept going encouragingly and tried to repeat better to help me hear it but I still didn't understand LOL. Thanks for always trying to make me better without making me feel bad at myself. They make you feel proud for just trying. It's really refreshing. I'm so use to getting shamed for my Viet and getting the look of "why do you even bother" but not here. Just experienced one of the best flavored wings and it came from this spot my mom goes for togo platters. Located on bolsa and magnolia, it's a plaza with a bunch of small businesses. Plenty of parking for the most part but this small business offers a variety of options and food platters to go, makes really good crispy wings. We ordered a patch of crispy garlic butter wings for a home gathering and even when it got home, still crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. The flavor was on point and wasn't over whelmed with garlic or butter. So many crispy bits on the side, perfect with some rice haha. I'll recommend this spot for a good option on togo platters for events since they make it to order and pick up times are quite fast. read more
