i bought a grey shawl collared sweater by polo at goodwill for $3! it was the sweater i've been waiting for my entire life. all other grey sweaters have all be placeholders for this sweater. i love this sweater so much, it's crazy. and then i got a hole in it! it was about the size of a nickel. i usually don't care that much but i'm going to be with this sweater for the rest of my life! it just wouldn't do. so i yelped around and found lamb's reweaving. i procrastinated forever but finally made the trip not knowing quite what to expect.. i parked easily at a meter on a side street off wilshire. only put 45 minutes on the clock and i would suggest at least an hour in case you get lucky like i did and that beautiful lady inside says she can do it while you wait. it only took her about 5-10 minutes to do a perfect job but it took me a while to get to her... the lobby is oppressive! there are signs everywhere that say "no cell phones," "no eating," "no pets!" wow. that's a lot of noes! then i wait for one of the working elevators, it comes, i let a lady off and before i can get even near the door it slams shut! there were folks inside who either were pushing the close door button or didn't give a damn but i was screwed. i looked at the woman standing next to me who was also waiting and she looks at me like i'm the jerk. so i wait some more. when i finally find the suite i'm looking for it has some clothes hanging off the door and it's locked up. i'm bummed that maybe she's closed but here she comes with the two ladies who had left the clothes on the door. we all cram into the tiniest of offices and they go through a whole bunch of clothes that need to be fixed. they're all going to take a long time to turn around, like maybe december! i'm thinking it's a good thing i'm bringing in my sweater in july! but after they leave the lovely lady who runs this heaven-sent business says she can do my repair while i wait! and she did! and it's perfect! it cost $35 and it was worth it! i would put a picture on here but it would just look like a perfect sweater that never had a hole in it! she marked the place with a little removable white thread so i could see where the work was done or else i would never have found it again! i'm going to return with a coat i got from my grandmother that has been attacked by moths - but from listening to those ladies who were before me i know now that i need to get moth-eaten clothing dry cleaned first to make sure the bugs are all gone. i'm sure with all the damage the moths did it might cost me a fortune but it will be worth it. she really does beautiful work! read more

The owner of this place is as sweet as can be, BUT, she does NOT know how to fix knits! I am a knitter (VERY experienced) and didn't have time to shorten a sweater that I had. We spoke and agreed on what needed to be done, and it was not cheap, but I had to have it completed for my vacation. I just picked it up and she actually HEMMED the sweater! WHAT?? You do not hem sweaters- Knitting 101! It looks terrible. She pleaded with me to fix it, saying she doesn't like dissatisfied customers, but the truth is, she didn't know how to and admitted she didn't know what to do! IF you have any knitting corrections that need to be completed, I suggest that you take it elsewhere! She took $20 off the agreed on price (which is a small amount of the total) and I now I have to fix it myself. read more

40 bucks to fix a hole in a Calvin Klein wool blazer. This, my friends, is where your drycleaner sends your things to be rewoven (and then probably charges you a markup.) Wouldn't you rather have this nice woman do it for you? Now the fix wasn't exactly invisible (I don't think that, given the fabric that my jacket was made out of- it could have been invisible) but it was pretty close. Reweaving entails taking unused threads from your garment (inside the sleve, from a hem, etc.) and using those same native threads to mend it. Pretty intricate stuff. I called a friend who used to own one of the best drycleaners in town (Sterling) and he called Lamb's and set the whole thing up for me. It's cool walking into this nondescript building with only your jacket and your hidden destination on the second floor. Also, the owner, Claudette Hill, is very nice and occurs as very honest and down-to-earth. I could be wrong, but I get the sense that this is some good reweaving, yo. read more

Amazing! Claudette is a miracle worker. I took my cashmere sweater in that had a quarter size hole in the elbow. I knew it wouldn't be perfect but I would be happy with whatever she could do. And Wow! She gave it back to me and I could not even tell where the hole was. I just wish I would have taken before and after pictures. read more

Buyer beware. This lady MUST be past her prime. I took her a Hugo Boss suit that had a minor hole on the sleeve. I asked if she can reweave. She said she will try but might have to patch it. I said "NO" Absolutely no patch. She said, "Fine, I will reweave". She told me that she will need at least 6 months because she is busy. I said fine as long as she fixed it. 6 months pass and I call. She responds, "Oh I will get on it this week" What a surprise. She patched my sleeve. and there was a patch on the back. She claims there was a hole. Plus there was another hole in the arm area of the sleeve. She completely ruined my jacket. She should just retire. I am soooooo pissed off right now. Please don't let this happen to you. read more

It took a little longer than that but after seeing (or should I say not seeing) her work - that's how good she is - I'd gladly return. Claudette is amazing. I tore a hole in the front of my thin merino wool sweater at a wedding, and thought is was a goner. I was already shopping for a new one when my mom suggested finding a reweaving specialist. I checked one other place in LA with high reviews, but most people said the prices were quite high, averaging $60-80 for 1/4" tears. Claudette also had 5 stars across the board, but most people said her prices were more reasonable. So, I took my sweater in, she told me she could fix it on the spot, which she did, and $25 later I walked out a happy man. Claudette is a pro. She's been doing it for ages, and knows the craft forwards and backwards. She is a cash only business, and street parking can be limited, but there is a valet service at the garage that is $1 every 15 min. Give her a try, you won't be disappointed! read more

I love this lady! She is so incredibly sweet and lovely and a magician! I had ripped a hole in my sister's knit cardigan and knew if I couldn't get it fixed I would most likely be murdered by her, so I yelped a place that could help and I found this place! Claudette sowed up my sisters cardigan right when I got there, I didn't have to wait at all, and when I brought it back to my sister she didn't kill me! Magic! Honestly, finding her place in that office complex was a little tough--I had to call her and she kindly came out, but it was totally worth the drive. She saved two of my sweaters from holes. I had just discovered my beautiful "go to" Marie Original designer jacket had a small hole in the sleeve. I was to be on a plane to Chicago early morning, day after next. The Nordstrom sales associate (from whom I had purchased many expensive suits) reminded me of the ritual: I would send my jacket to St John and 3 weeks later it would be returned looking wonderful. The downside was the repair time and cost (probably $100+). A near-by customer had overheard our conversation and approached me, "You're in luck. I have an old friend who is a fabulous reweaver. She could resolve your problem in no time". I was thrilled but the sales associate pulled me aside and warned me, "No, no, no. Do you know how much bad work we fix because customers take these kind of short cuts? I urge you not to try her friend." Well, I did. So there. This lady sincerely believed in her friend and I liked that. She was well dressed, seemed credible and I didn't want to be without that jacket for 3 to 4 weeks. So, the next day I visited Claudette. For months I'd been looking for a reweaver to repair two holes in my favorite peacock blue cashmere sweater. Because It's one of my favs, I didn't want to entrust the repairs to just anyone. Thankfully, I happened upon Claudette at Lamb's Reweaving Service. To say Claudette is a master at her craft is by far an understatement!!! She has been doing this work since 1965 and when she was done with my sweater I wouldn't even have been able to find where the holes had been we're in not for the marker threads she left in to show me where she'd worked! (She worked super fast & finished the job before I returned from the ATM!) In terms of location it was a bit of a schlep from my home & kinda hard to find as there was no sign outside the suite (#290) where her office is located. Thankfully, when I called her number she was able to quickly guide me to her. I took several of her cards and have already referred my mom & best friend to her for sweater repairs.
