I know Dr. Brown is also a great doctor so its very special to have two exceptional Drs. in one office. The staff couldnt be nicer and super friendly. I've seen Dr. Brown just once, so this review is only about Dr. Haimovic. (1) She has never seen me on time. I always arrive a few minutes early and I'm always seen at least 20 minutes late, sometimes 30 minutes. No status updates, no apology, just me wondering if I should just leave. (2) She seems to focus more on cosmetic procedures (the consultation would be $400 just to talk to her about these procedures!) and less on medical dermatology. Once you say you're not interested in cosmetic procedures, her mood shifts and you see that her mind is elsewhere and you suddenly feel like you're wasting her time. I have been going to Dr. Brown for 5 years; he has addressed both cosmetic and medical concerns. I have never waited more than 20 minutes for an appointment (even last minute appointments) and it's usually less than 10. At first I perceived him to be a bit brusque - but he has proven time and time again to be a kind, intelligent, trustworthy, attentive and empathetic physician. I was brutalized by Dr Lance Brown - early July 2018 From the minute I entered his posh assembly line office, I felt comfortable, only to be insulted, neglected and brutalized by Dr Lance Brown. It was a busy morning, I was there from 8AM till after 12PM. He worked on 5 patients at the same time alternately. Each of us would be brought in to two waiting examination/procedure rooms for our skin "operations." Dr Brown in an effort to save time, he was clearly overbooked, avoided a more considered and thoughtful approach and OVER CUT me so he wouldn't have to do it again. He wanted to leave to get on his boat! He was impatient and aggressive with my face. What should have been no more than the three stitches became 13 stitches and very painful. Dr Brown when injecting me with lidocaine, described the needle entering the tissue below my eye, where I had the smallest little bump to be removed. I told him that I was very sensitive to pain and usually needed a bit more anesthetic to deaden it. He was working fast and frenetically. He proceeded to cut and almost immediately, I felt the scalpel. I told him and he asked me if it was pressure I was feeling, I said, "no I'm feeling the cut, it hurts" he reluctantly gave me more lidocaine and then completed the initial procedure. He told me to wait for the results in the waiting room. I was feeling faint from the procedure and there were no seats in the waiting room now. I returned to the procedure room. I told the Dr there were no seats. He checked the waiting room, came back and told me to "sit on the bench." This was a low, narrow bench with no back, right up against the raging air conditioning unit. I was in no condition and I told him, "no, I can't do that." He then took one of the patients in and we exchanged seats. An hour and a half later, still waiting, the anesthetic had worn off. I told the front desk attendant that I was in pain. The Dr. came out and said it would be only another 10 minutes and I should just wait. Another hour passed and then the Dr re-appeared in the waiting room. He stood there and pointed his finger to each of us patients while he shared with every one. "You are done, I just have to sew you up." "Now you, I have to do you again." "...and you, we're still waiting on the results of the biopsy." I felt very un-comfortable sharing this info with strangers. When I finally was returned to the procedure room there was no longer any bedside manner or seeming concern for my comfort, now he was in a big hurry. I received 6 separate needle injections into and around my open wound. It hurt, I winced and was told it wouldn't be long. As he sewed me up, I could feel my skin being picked up and hear the thread as it was dragged through my skin. I anticipated a couple of stitches for the tiny bump removed. But I received 13 stitches! NOT AT ALL WHAT I WAS TOLD TO EXPECT. When I finally saw the wound several days later, I was horrified! After the surgery, I asked for pain killers and was told to take Tylenol. I said I needed something stronger to control the pain. The Dr didn't want to give me anything for the pain, but finally said he'd prescribe 4 tablets of low dose OxyContin for me. I pleaded for two more tablets but he said there was an opioid crisis and I couldn't have them. Really, I'm going to become addicted with 6 low dose tablets, he further demonstrated his insensitivity. I asked if the prescription could be called in so that I would receive it when I got home. I was now in pain. I gave them my pharmacy's #. When I arrived home, I called the pharmacy, they had not been contacted. I called the Dr's office no one answered the phone and I left a message, I waited another 2 hours before I received the medication. The office hadn't called in the prescription as they'd promised and I paid for their negligence with my pain. It was very painful! Insensitivity to patient's suffering, rude and impersonal behavior and disregard for privacy characterize the practice of Dr Lance Brown. I felt brutalized by him. I returned a week later. The Dr was too busy to remove the stitches, his assistant took them out. I waited a long while, finally he opened the door and poked his head in saying "it looks like the wound healed well" and suggested I see the dermatologist who had recommended me for any follow up. Lance Brown is the worst kind of physician, uncaring and rude, dismissive of his patient's pain and concerns. With no explanations I was subjected to surprise extensive surgery, because he was very busy and impatient. I remember clearly he was in a hurry to get on out to his boat. Judging from his fabulous dark tan, he probably spent a lot of time on that craft. The scar on my face is much bigger than I was told it would be and I'm now scarred for life by Dr Lance Brown. Dr Brown is a very good dermo. He is incredibly busy so there is sometimes a small wait, but it's worth it. I was very happy with his work (as was my friend) and he gave me some extremely useful information that no other doctors have given me previously. He also gave my friend a body check that she was comfortable with and she felt satisfied that it covered all her concerns. The office staff are accommodating and don't try to sell you their treatments although they do make suggestions. I recommend his office for cosmetic and medical concerns. read more

I've had to make many visits to Dr. Brown for frequent skin checks and mohs surgery to deal with some Basel cell spots. He's always been great but in the COVID era it's next level: office is running perfectly on time, no waiting in crowded waiting room, everything very clean. It's like a Swiss watch. Went to his new location with state of the art cosmetic equipment which he aggressively markets. Each time I found him "overwhelmed" and rushing around with not much patient interaction or presence. My visits are dermatology related not cosmetic and I feel he is only interested in pushing cosmetic procedures. Very disappointed, because I needed a physician not an aesthetician. read more

I have been going to Dr. Lance H. Brown for many years. He is a brilliant dermatologist and highly skilled in medical as well as cosmetic procedures. He has helped myself as well as my friends and family members resolve various dermatological issues. Overall I have found him to be extremely kind, patient and very easy to talk to. I am not sure why Jenny W. had an issue. Perhaps it was a busy day at Dr. Browns office. To me that is a good sign. I would much prefer that than "in-and-out" with a doctor that has no loyal following/patients. To me that is much scarier. You really can't mess around with your skin. You need a good dermatologist. I grew up in NYC so I am used to waiting a little when something is worth it. I will say I never had to wait any longer than any other doctor or similar visit. -P read more

So far the treatment he's given has worked brilliantly. He diagnosed me straight away, and I was in and out in 25 minutes. Friendly staff, he saw me at my scheduled time (vs. so many other doctors who expect you to wait) and he's very competent. The treatments are excellent and the staff is fantastic. I went for yearly skin cancer check and laser treatments to get rid of earlier sun damage and improve collagen production. All of that was well achieved, results were exactly as he had explained they would be. More: he introduced me to line of products that (elta MD) that were less (75% less) expensive than those that I was using and more effective. Having a background in biomedical investment I have a good idea of how to research medical practitioners and medical devices and treatments, and because I was looking for laser treatment for face I was especially particular about the dermatologist that I chose. NYC has many professionals certified to do facial lasers, botox, etc., but I wanted to make sure that my skin was as healthy as possible before getting treatments, i.e., treating skin that isn't healthy is at the very least not productive and at worst counter-productive so I wasn't just looking for someone who can use laser, I needed a real skin MD. Dr. Brown is well respected amongst other medical professionals, well published in peer reviews and has steady stream of loyal patients in both his offices in NYC and East Hampton, i.e., repeat clients are a sign of happy clients. Beyond checking health of skin, his aesthetic is important, i.e., he isn't looking to alter anyone's appearance, he is making their skin healthier and contours more even so everyone comes to their natural best. He also seems to invest in the latest equipment regularly so when you walk in there with a problem to be solved he has the latest solutions. read more

Dr Brown is great! He is very competent and knowledgeable. The staff is great and you are always treated very nicely there and there's generally no wait. He is very caring and always follows up to make sure things have worked out. Last summer my son had a skin problem and Dr Brown was really helpful and followed up and checked in on him several times and also helped us see a great pediatric dermatologist specialist. After reading the great reviews on here, I went for a consultation for a terrible skin condition I was having. I waited over an hour to see him. The waiting area is small and I had no choice but to listen to the personal life of his receptionist on her cell phone. There is not a better dermatologist in NYC, i am convinced. He is kind, helpful, intelligent and always on time! He is aggressive in his treatments, as you would hope for when paying to go to a dermatologist.
