My sister had just given birth and wanted her favorite veggie burger from Lancers. I called in the order for her food and also ordered eggs Benedict for myself. I picked it up in 15 minutes. There were no forks, knives, salt/pepper or napkins in the bag. I asked and the girl gave them right away. My sister's burger was good. Unfortunately, my food was a soggy mess. The thin Hollandaise sauce had drenched my food. I only ate the poached eggs and one of the ham pieces. My English muffins were a wet mess. Not sure if it's because it was to go or if it's typical. But between being super hungry after a rough night and feeling like I wasted my money, I was irritated. I'll give 4 stars for my sis. 2 stars for myself. So we'll settle for 3 stars. Old school since 1969. We were flying out of Burbank airport and wanted to have breakfast before departing on our flight. The old timers seem to love this place, I love it for the nostalgia. I ordered pancakes and my girl ordered a veggie omelette with sour dough bread. My pancakes were delicious and she liked her food. Everyone drives by it, so stop in already for pete's sake. Park in the giant Hobby Lobby parking lot (but don't go in there, if you're still mad about whatever made us mad about Hobby Lobby management). Lancers is big, so don't worry about seating. Before you sit down, check out the cakes and pies spinning around in the case right by the door. Lemon cake, carrot cake, red velvet cake -- yes, yes and yes. The menu is diner style. Lots of breakfast specials, soups, sandwiches, burgers and "early bird" specials for the senior set. The downer for me is that I prefer thin french fries, and Lancers is a fat french fries place. Cue the gross, overweight, slobbering truck drivers; greasy and tired and ready for a hot meal at the truck stop. Gut flowing over their XL Wrangler's and hair matted to their forehead. Alright, to clear it up: you won't find these men at Lancers (or maybe you will if you're lucky); but the food/environment sure fits the scenario. And I should know.. I've actually seen the truck stop diners I just described. Even starving and practically groveling for food after a music festival, Lancers STILL didn't satisfy. The place is unkempt (the floors needed to be desperately swept) and SOOOOO cold that I thought I was stuck in a freezer.. in Antarctica... naked. I was seriously shivering throughout my whole meal. I ordered a cranberry juice with looked thin and pale like Crystal Light and tasted like some watered down kool-aid. I was able to exchange it but was already off on a sour note (no pun intended). For my tummy, I ordered a half Cobb salad ($7.99) which consisted of wilted lettuce, 2 eggs, some tomato slices, two large cucumber slices, much too crispy bacon, pieces of lunch meat turkey, and blue cheese chunks. It honestly wasn't that bad but nothing special, either. Not worth $7.99 though. The highlight was the two bites of Yelper Jessica C's pumpkin pie which was truly a homemade pie treat (and only $1.99 with the purchase of an entree). And what's with Broasted Chicken? First of all... Lancers is NOT a happening club for young ambitious men seeking like-minded bachelors. Lancers is a diner. Lancers is a DINER of the common variety: they have an unnerving variety of dishes, questionable food, microwaved meats, decent soup, fantastic service, and extraordinarily plain salads. I give this three stars because when you go to a diner of the common variety, you should know you're not there to dine well. You're there to put food in your mouth, and after your best efforts, swallow. The wings were horrifying slimy ordeals. I ate 6 of them because I'm stupid. My friend Parker attempted to eat one, and what remained after his wing quest was... Something I can only describe as - a sloppy mess of pickings. Parker ate his steak. So I give him five stars. If you'd like to leave LA for "any-town USA", go to Lancers. You'll see handlebar mustaches, camouflage baseball hats, cowboy boots, and all the fat and old people you'd expect to see in some logging town diner in Oregon. The inside is exactly what you'd expect judging it from the outside. It's a diner. A step up from Denny's, and that's about it. I give them four stars not because the food and service is amazing, but because the food and service is exactly what you'd expect in a place like this. No time to be a food snob at Lancers. Okay so Sunday came here with my Sweetie to attempt to soak up all the booze we had from the night before. I've been coming here since I moved to Burbank and even thou the clientele is primarily of the geriatric age I enjoy the food and service. The prices are reasonable, the staff is attentive, they have a bar for those who like their cocktails with ham and eggs and have 2 TV screens in the seating section closest to the bar to catch the football games. I do love my institutions--and Lancers is certainly an institution. Love the atmosphere, the diner layout with the separate dark bar. Unfortunately I already had a little negative bias towards Lancers as they were instrumental in the re-opening and subsequent quick closing of one of my favorite LA restaurants and another LA institution--the Brite Spot in Echo Park. A bizarre situation to say the least--and now Brite Spot is gone forever. What I was less impressed with at Lancers was the food and food ordering experience. My order was not followed to the letter. Ordered corned beef and hash ($17.99) and while that price is average, in this time of runaway inflation, there seems to be a lot of waste with these dishes--a smaller portion could be offered for a smaller price. I don't need THREE eggs and four thick slices of tomatoes and four half pieces of heavily buttered toast -- and I would argue that most people don't either. I ordered my eggs sunny side up and they came out over easy. Asked for two eggs max and they gave me three. Asked for one slice of toast (two half slices) and they gave me four half slices. Not sure if the waiter wasn't listening or writing down my order, after all I am doing the restaurant a favor by ordering less food and paying the same price, but I couldn't eat the eggs because they were too runny. Tomatoes were a bit on the green side so couldn't eat them either. Unfortunately, Lancers is not a place I would rush back to revisit. read more

We have been going to Lancers for years for their broasted chicken specials and have loved it. Recommended it to friends and have thoroughly enjoyed the food. HOWEVER, we went last night (7/18/22) and were very very disappointed. the chicken was DRY, the soup was tasteless and now since they cut back on dessert, there is really nothing good to say about the meal. I doubt we will ever go back here again, and I KNOW we will never recommend it to friends. The service was good, tho slow and the people very professional, but the food was AWFUL. read more

Breakfast time was kind of Eh... Walking in, you notice only elders eating. Once we were seated, we ordered hot tea & hot chocolate. Just a note... all their cups here are very small... So, you getting a small quantity for what your paying. The tea was just a simple small cup with a tea bag... the hot chocolate was the same as a little packet one would open and pour the coco powder. This is a cute diner with friendly service. The menus has so many good options to choose from and they have affordable daily specials. Saturday, the day I chose to go was New York Steak night. The portions are very generous and you get more than your moneys worth. I would say the dining experience was like eating at Denny's but with an upgrade in environment and atmosphere. Your typical all-american eatery. Breakfast: pancakes, waffles, steak & eggs, etc... Lunch: sandwiches (hot and cold), burgers, fries, etc... Dinners? Well you get my drift. Lancer's has mediocre food and nothing on the menu screams to be ordered. The last time I went in was for breakfast with my wife. We both ordered Steak and Eggs and shared an order of pancakes. Lancer's offers either hash browns or potatoes sauteed with peppers and onions. You can also choose between toast or pancakes. We ordered our steaks medium rare they both came well-done and dry. The peppers-onion-potato side dish was mushy. The pancakes were tiny, smaller than Ihop's when we asked the waitress about the pancakes she was very nice and offered us new ones which were much bigger. She explained that the pancakes are usually bigger than the ones we were previously given, so she wasn't sure about the inconsistency. Overall Lancer's is edible and has good "early-bird" specials. Next time we will go to Bea-Beas on Pass Ave north of Alameda instead for, for a nice Breakfast. read more

So, I categorize this place somewhere between a Norm's & a Denny's- but with a little more home cooking and much more customer service. It's pretty much a typical diner style place, hasn't been remodeled since the 70's- but the food is solid. I've had their burgers. The meat patty is thick & juicy. Their sandwiches are good. Breakfast is yummy. I can go in there on my lunch break, get a salad, burger & fries for about $10. Side salads are pretty simple- but the produce on everything is very fresh. I've seen a lot of groups meeting there for lunch. Picture, let's say, the monthly quilting group meeting there for lunch. Went here one Friday night lookin for some fish & chips... Lancer's has been there forever but it had been over a decade since I had dined there. We walked and the silver haired set has the place packed. I guess Friday night specials are a big hit with the Burbank seniors. We were seated in a booth towards the back. The booth still smelled of something and it took me a few minutes to realize it was bleu cheese. As I was sitting there I noticed some leftover crumbs of that bleu cheese on the table. Not cool. There were other tables that seemed ready and you decide to seat us at the one that wasnt quite?? C'mon now! Also towards the end of the meal, I noticed on the window sill opposite of me and on my companion's side was a tray of crackers and some had been emptied. How embarrassing! So we know the previous patrons at that table had some bleu cheese and crackers for their soup. Geeez... Not good. I ordered the fish & chips with well done fries. It came with the plainest side salad known to man. All lettuce and a crouton or 2. No cherry tomatoes or a leaf of spinach in sight. I wasnt even expecting a salad to come with it but it really was a depressing plate of greens. The fish & chips plate was better. The battered cod filets were decent. There was enough to make me full. I had to ask for extra tartar sauce for the fish. The fries were well done like I asked so that was good. We were hungry so I scarfed mine and my companion who ordered the seafood platter seemed alright with hers. I wish I could say the food and experience was better but it was not. Service was ok. But it was overshadowed by the memory of how unkempt the booth we sat in was. That's the plain truth... Hope they tidy things up. read more

It has been a couple of months since they ripped the carpet from the floors that was still good and had been there forever & felt cozy & warm! We sat in the concrete slab dining room & there were fine dust particles & on the tables & chemical smells were making their way down my air passages, I wanted to walk out!!! The table next to us decided to walk out bkz of the environment & the mgmt. that caters more to their employees than their customers never came to take their order!!!!!! Dining room that floods everything winter is still a concrete slab & the rest of the restaurant is torn up! During this heat wave the air conditioner is probably at 79* and they have put film on the windows instead of blinds & turned off the perimeter lights, so you can't really read! The dining room has strong led lights that hurt your eyes!! :(. Why fix things when they weren't broken! Hummmmmm read more

My son and I went to Lancers for a late lunch. The hostess practically threw the menus at us and told us to seat ourselves. We opted to sit in the dining room and their outside door was open and there were a lot of flies coming in. We asked if the door could be closed and she said no because it was the entrance to the bar and if they close the door it would lock and no one could come into the bar. I said why couldn't they come in the main door and she said it's not their policy. She then slammed two waters down which spilled onto the table. We told her we were moving to the coffee shop area and she proceeded to hand the two waters to my son to take to the new booth. Because of how rude she was and how we were treated, we left and went somewhere else where we were treated with a lot more respect and the customer service was 100% better and because of all of this, we will not be returning to Lancers. Worst experience ever. Been coming here for a while now was exited to see they reopen after the Covid closure. Took my buddy to get lunch all we had were 2 entrees a soda and and iced tea. Bill was around 33$ gave my receipt to the cashier paid and saw my confirmation receipt said 33$. I get home check my bank account said I was charge 53$. Apparently the cashier added 2 bloody Mary's a milk and another soda to my check. I called they said they would fixed it. No confirmation of anything. Called again a few days after they recharged me 20$ instead of refunding me 20$. Talked to the manager sent me a picture of a receipt from he's personal cell showing it was fixed. This was a week ago account still with a charge of 53$ and and additional 20$. At this point don't care about the money. But beware guys that's not cool and messed up.
