My coworker and I had a seafood craving and glad we picked this place. It's a large dining room beautifully decorated with large windows overlooking the water. Our server was quite friendly and did stop by often to check in with us. The food was good as it should be for the price tag. I didn't want meat and the simply grilled fish was spot on. Flaky, not dry, and liked the sauce for the fish too. The stuffed shrimp appetizer was tasty and the star of the meal was that delicious bread pudding. Holy smokes. This dinner started strong but then went downhill very fast. Came out to experience dinner with fireworks Friday offered during the summer. The host was friendly and took us to our seats very quickly as we had a reservation. Started with drinks and grilled oysters. Drinks were fine and the grilled oysters were tasty. Places our food order and the "side salad" came out first. This salad must have been the last bag salad on the shelf at Kroger. Most of the lettuce was brown and overall it tasted old. Even the croutons were stale. We then waited 50 mins for our main course to come out. The waitress kept telling us "it's coming out shortly". Despite the bad reviews i've seen the customer service was pretty decent and the food was great. When we first entered there was a pungent smell of oceanic/sewerish smell, not sure if that's what the restaurant was going for or maybe the bathrooms are not well ventilated since the restrooms are at the front of the entrance, but the smell soon went away as we walked to our seat. The beer battered fish and chips were very tasty and nicely seasoned. The Alfredo shrimp was also not bad but the cheese on top wasn't melted well enough. At first the staff said the type of pasta was out and had to be changed the angel hair but when they served the dish they did have the pasta that was advertised. I visited the restaurant with a group. We arrived a bit early and I inquired from the bartender if they had a drink menu and without missing a beat she responded, "I'm closed". I responded ma'am I didn't ask if you were open but rather if you had a drink menu. Her response was sorry I didn't hear you. Kay and Morgan were the waitresses that served the group. I asked Kat for a drink menu and 10 minutes later she asked me if I remembered the name of the drink I wanted. I reminded her she said she was going to get me a drink menu. She responded" I didn't hear you". This was disappointing because if she didn't hear me, her response was to just tell me she was closed and for me to understand that I should go away. This is definitely not the customer service I expect from the Landry restaurant chain. I have the chicken and sausage gumbo with like flavor and proper seasoning. Perfect spot for a relaxed, waterfront dinner! The views were exceptional! After lunch we took a stroll along the boardwalk, it's such a fun bonus. The shrimp appetizer was fantastic, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The crawfish étouffée had great flavor too, though it was just a little on the salty side for me. With the drinks we got this garlic bread, while we waited for our food, it was very good. We ordered Oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer, came sizzling with butter, and panko? I don't know, but it was out of this world! We had the shrimp and crab capellini, so buttery, the seafood felt fresh, I couldn't have enough of it. Also we tried the Snapper with Melissa Topping, which is sautéed shrimp, scallops, crab and mushrooms, it was unbelievable, EVERYTHING was cooked to perfection! Landrys Seafood House. It looks really nice on the outside, and nice on the inside. They have a lot of windows so you can see outside at the water so perfect for an afternoon, or evening before sunset so you can really appreciate the views. The food was ok though nothing that stood out, and shined for me. I went with a large party, and everything that was ordered looked very good. I mean I got pasta but it could have used just a little something more flavor wise, it was ok not bad, but not WOWED either. I think the prices are decent for what you get honestly. The portions are good, The service was good, our waiter was nice, my drink was good. I guess I was just expecting more. I recommend if you are in the area, and visiting Kemah then give it a go. Decided to give this place another try. Never again. Our waitress Santina took our order, brought our drinks then disappeared for an hour until our food came. She constantly visited tables around us but skipped ours. No straws, no refills, no updates. Then our food comes and I see it's not the blackened shrimp penne pasta. It's angel hair pasta with shrimp on top and crab underneath it. I figured maybe they changed the pasta. I tell my husband this is a big difference from my pasta last visit. I check yelp and I see the menu and sure enough says penne. She wrote my order wrong. I still eat it cause it's already been an hour even though I don't eat crab I'm not going to wait even more at this point. I'm guessing my food came out first because the shrimp was cold by the time it got to my table. My husband enjoyed his food and so did my kid. So at least it wasn't a complete waste of a trip. Visited family in Texas and wanted to try some "traditional" dishes that I normally wouldn't be able to find at home. We decided to spend the day at Kemah Boardwalk and everyone around recommended Landry's so we had to go try it. I went for the Gumbo and it was really good, smoked flavor with plenty of meat. My partner went for the crawfish ettoufee and that dish was really good as well. The ratio of rice with the sauce and meat was perfect and t everything was seasoned really well. The Rainbow trout was tasty and moist. I wasn't sure to eat the skin or not, but the meat did peel off the skin like butter. The lemon pepper spice was spot on. The mash potatoes were great and didn't need any gravy. The rice was fluffy and well seasoned. Overall, this place is one of the best seafood places around. I'll cut straight to the point- We were forgotten at our patio table. Entirely. After being told to seat ourselves and having to ask a server to order food, we were (rudely) redirected to the poor bartender, who was responsible for the whole patio and was clearly overwhelmed. We had ordered our food and had waited over an hour and a half for food that had not come. Our server/bartender had taken our credit card, so we couldn't just walk away either. We had come to Kemah boardwalk and had day passes to the amusement park but because of the delay with the food we could not ride the rollercoasters, which was very upsetting. i finally spoke up to check on the food (I understand food service, so I was understanding to a degree) and the bartender took full responsibility, despite it only partially being her fault. She gave us free drinks while we had to wait for our food to be remade. When it was brought out, our order was not even correct. A server and the manager delivered our food and murmured quiet apologies, but in my honest opinion that does not make up for our inconvenience. I asked for our food to be remade with the correct sides. They also did not have the fish we had ordered initially. We were still not given waters at this point and our cups were empty from us baking in 90 degree Houston humidity. In total, our 'light snack' ended up being 3-4 hours long. None of our food was comped or discounted, so we payed full price, over 70 bucks for a small fish plate and calamari and a ruined night. read more
