    Thai Iced Tea
    Sung W.

I visited Lantern Vietnamese Cafe inside Haven City Market on a Sunday with some church friends and family. We decided to order a variety of items to share, including the Garlic Fried Rice with shrimp (for an extra $3) and a Thai Tea. After ordering, I waited about 15 minutes before my pager went off to pick up the food. The garlic fried rice was tasty, with fresh vegetables that added a nice balance. The shrimp was decent, though nothing exceptional. The Thai Tea was just right and complemented the meal perfectly, helping to wash everything down. The staff was friendly, and the ambiance at Haven City Market is always nice, with plenty of seating and a vibrant atmosphere. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd come back to try more from their menu. My Personal Rating : 4.2 Food 4/5 Service 4.1/5 Price 4.3/5 Ambiance 4.3/5 Cleanliness 4.3/5

The jalapeño inside the Fried Tofu Banh Mi!! Lol
    Joy J.

Alright, KYLE, if you are reading this review, you will be pleased to know that I approve of the Fried Tofu Banh Mi!! I have never had tofu in a banh mi before, but I had to take you up on your recommendation since I have tried every other kind already. I was gonna go with my usual pork belly, but I honestly didn't miss it today! The bread was nice and soft on the inside, and it had a nice crisp outside. The only thing I didn't like was the jalapeño inside it because I'm a weenie, and I have a very low spice tolerance. BUT, I am not deducting any stars for that because Kyle delivered on customer service, and my food was ready in a reasonable amount of time. I also ordered the Spring Rolls, and they were a good portion, with the right price. Be careful not to get a napkin close to the wrapper because I had to pick mine off, lol! The peanut sauce was a bit watery, but it was still good nonetheless. The 2 rolls satisfied my craving for a healthy dish. I took about 2 bites of the sammie and then decided to take it home for dinner (I had to dissect it to pick out the jalapeños, lol). Well done, Lantern Vietnamese Cafe!! Good fresh food made to order, with decent pricing!Thank you again, Kyle, for not steering me wrong and for posing with me, haha! You need a raise! I shall return! ;)

Honey Peach Tea with Crystal Boba and Lemongrass Banh Mi
    Jagruti L.

I visited this restaurant several times over the year and always love trying a new item and/or drink. I ordered: Filet Mignon Banh Mi - The bread was perfectly crunchy and soft to eat. The meat was perfectly marinated, and I enjoyed it. Honey Peach with Crystal Boba - They gave me the wrong boba add on. I wanted to get crystal boba, but they gave me the regular boba. The regular boba made my drink soggy or mushy to drink. I didn't want to wait so I stuck with the wrong boba. It came with bits of peaches. I don't recommend adding boba to Honey Peach tea drink. Overall, it was good.

Located in the Haven City Market this place serves up solid pho. I would say it is on the pricey side ($16) for pretty standard tasting pho but it wasn't too bad. I tried out these two items. Special Pho - It tastes how it should. Flavors were good and portions were average, a bit small for the price. Meat quality wasn't bad. (4/5) Spicy Shrimp and Pork Udon - I guess this was kind of like banh canh. It was good but also nothing spectacular. Came out piping hot. (4/5) The selection was a bit limited for a Vietnamese restaurant but I guess it's kind of like one of those express restaurants since it's in a food market. For $34, I was expecting a bit more but anyways for a small pitstop and craving pho, this hit the spot.

Located in Haven City, you walk in and head straight to the back where they have a few seats designated just for the café. Unfortunately, the food is overpriced for the portion and quality. Both the chicken pho and the special pho were very average in flavor--nothing really stood out. There also wasn't much protein in either dish, and the broth wasn't hot enough. It took a while for the noodles to soften, and lukewarm pho just isn't enjoyable. Overall, there's not much to say about this place, and honestly, I wouldn't return for the pho.

    Firecracker Shrimp

My eldest daughter and I came to Haven City Market to offer our patronage at some of its food vendors. One of our stops was Lantern Vietnamese Cafe. We love Vietnamese foods. It's great to have them here in Rancho Cucamonga. I ordered the Firecracker Shrimp as it is a favorite of my daughter. It came with 5 deep fried shrimps with dipping sauce and a very tiny salad. I thought the portion was a tad small for the price IMHO. Shrimp was delicious, but I wished there were at least 6 shrimps so my daughter and I could have 3 each... we had to split #5 half and half LOL. Salad could have been more plenty at least one green leaf per shrimp. Dipping sauce was tasty though. There are plenty of seating. Please note the tables have a reserved sign on them. If you didn't buy from them, please don't sit in their area. They are reserved for their customers only. Staff was okay. Service was decent. Prices are average. Overall, it was an okay experience. We may return to try their noodle soup and vermicelli dishes.

Lemongrass pork banh mi and pork belly banh mi with Vietnamese iced coffee
    Mandy M.

This was our first visit and we really enjoyed our food. We went early on a Saturday and Haven City Market wasn't too crowded yet. There was seating by the restaurant and plenty more throughout the whole market. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and efficient. We got: Lemongrass pork Banh Mi 10.95 Pork belly Banh Mi 11.95 2x Vietnamese Iced coffee 5.95 each The total after tax was 37.50. Definitely not cheap for two sandwiches and coffee, but it was good. The lemongrass pork had a nice flavor, the veggies were nice and crisp and the bread was fresh and crunchy. The coffee was sweet and strong. We love strong coffee, but it might not be for everyone. We really enjoyed our meal and will be back to try more.

Located in haven city market. I only tried their Vietnamese coffee and wow it was strong lol I was literally shaking from the caffeine hahaha but it tasted really good! I'll prolly get it again. Service was good. Place looked clean. It's located near all the claw machines. Their banh mi looked good too, I'd try it next time!

My favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the IE! Shoutout to the worker Andy for being so patient and helpful! The food is so very authentic and flavorful! I love their Banh Mi! it's great to go and better fresh. Pair it with some pho or bun bo hue! The portion is pretty fair for the price esp in a food hall like Haven City Market. There's plenty of seating and the area is nicely decorated. There's plenty of drink options as well including boba! I really like their sparking strawberry! super refreshing on a hot day. 10/10 would recommend checking this place out!

    Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi
    Tina S.

My review is for my experience ordering food for take out. Their online ordering was easy- I was able to request for no jalapeños. Everything was packed and ready to go at the time promised. Vietnamese ice coffee- Coffee tasted burnt, even with all that condensed milk. I wouldn't get this again. It wasn't smooth and creamy. $6.75 Lemongrass chicken banh mi- Bread wasn't soft, and kind of hard. I didn't like that it scraped the roof of my mouth while eating it. The meat to veggie ratio was good though. I didn't get enough of the lemongrass flavor. $12.75 3 pcs of egg roll- Good flavor and the oil they fried it in tasted clean. However they didn't give me any lettuce, cilantro, cucumber or mint with it! For $8.75 for three pieces to just give the pickled radish and carrots is ridiculous. I spent over $30 and it was average at best. I was a bit disappointed cause everything was kind of lackluster. It was my first time ordering from here and based on my experience I wouldn't be coming back to try ordering dine in.

    Pho Filet Mignon

This place has the best filet mignon pho. I love the flavor of the broth itself also. Their meat source is perfect. You get that thin cut beef that is so tender it just melts in your mouth. I've gone to other pho places and they don't match with this one. It is pricey but in my opinion worth it. Definitely a go to for sure for those pho beef lovers! It is inside Haven City Market so seating is hard if it is busy. BUT they have lantern cafe reserved seating so every time I have gone to go eat I always have a table to sit at. They are quick and friendly too. And the soup is fresh and hot! Just the way I like it. :)

Pho special, Bahn Mi-filet mignon, mango green tea, thai tea

one of the most underrated spots within Haven City Market- Rancho Cucamonga. If theres any ONE thing you take my advice from this review is that you should get drinks from here! The thai tea is the most memorable for being the perfect thai tea flavor and the mango green tea is also just as good. The pho broth is so good that I didnt feel the need to put much lime into it! I usually like putting lots of lime in my pho but the broth was so good that I didn't want to taint the flavor. As for the Bahn Mi, the meat was juicy and flavorful and a nice crispy baguette. If you're at Haven City Market often and have a craving for Vietnamese food give Lantern a try! I will definitely come back to try the vermicelli noodles.

    Mango Sweet Rice (9.95$)
    Tracy K.

This spot is located at the back of Haven City food court in Rancho Cucamonga. Grateful for their vegan options. I had their vegan egg rolls, vegan pho, and mango sticky rice. I am a fan of their egg rolls (7.75$). The vegan pho is made out of vegetable broth. It only had four pieces of tofu in it. Cost me $14.95. Expensive for something so small. The sticky rice was hard but the mango was nice and sweet. This spot was okay. It would've been 3 stars for the small portion and expensive , but 4 stars for labeling the vegan options and having them available for someone who is vegan. Food court is located in a large lot. There are bathrooms in the back. I never had trouble with parking. Came to this food court twice so far. It's a food court so it's loud. Cashier was nice.

I love being in pain, and when you ask for spicy, you will get spicy. My go to is the chongqing zajiang or the yibin burning noodles. I've also tried chengdu zajiang and the sour pickled mustard with shredded pork, the stir fried potatoes, and the chicken with chili sauce. All dishes were excellent. They were very filling and delicious. The prices are extremely reasonable because they give you a good amount of food and the quality is great. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It just has soy, soy mixed sauce, chili oil, and black vinegar. I ordered the Wide Hand Pulled Noodles, Green and Onion Pot Stickers, and the Beef Rolls. Wide Hand Pulled noodles were ok. Honestly not much to brag about. I thought the noodles were cooked well but the flavor didn't really stand out to me. I believe it's served with chili oil, a mound of minced garlic and some vegetables. Outside of those ingredients I thought it needed more flavor or substance. The beef rolls were ok to me as well. I liked how crispy the roll was and size. Good portions of sliced beef served with cilantro. It was refreshing but the meat was generally cold with some warmness provided by the roll. But that quickly faded. Would prefer it to be warmer. The highlight was the pot stickers. Beef and onion were good. Really enjoyed the presentation of the dish. The edges of the pot sticker were really thick. Almost chip like. I enjoyed it as much as the dish itself. Would get it again. Overall I thought the food was ok. I'm sure there are better highlight dishes than what I ordered but they weren't selected this go around. Also the prices are a little higher than most dumpling spots so I just expected more.

When the food arrived, a different employee dropped it off, and the pozole was red pork pozole instead of the green chicken pozole we ordered. We immediately let that employee know the order was incorrect, and she took it back. A few moments later, our original waitress came to the table with an aggressive attitude and asked my wife, "So you want to switch your order from red to green?" This made it seem like we had changed our order rather than acknowledging that the wrong order had been taken in the first place. We explained that we had originally ordered the green pozole. She then told us that since we were "switching" it, it would take a while to make. When the green pozole finally arrived, she dropped the bowl on the table without making eye contact and walked away. The wait was so long that we had already finished the entire taco plate by the time the pozole arrived. We decided to just take the pozole to go. The waitress continued avoiding our table, so we eventually had to get up and walk to the counter to pay. When we asked for limes and onions to go with the green pozole, the owner informed us there would be an additional charge for each side. We paid, but the overall experience had already been soured. I told the owner about our experience, and while I was explaining what happened, the waitress with the neck tattoo walked by and laughed. I even pointed it out to the owner and said, "See, she's laughing about it right now." The owner said she would speak with the employee. After reading other reviews, it seems that poor customer service may be a recurring issue here. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability, poor attitude, and dismissive behavior turned a simple order mix-up into a very negative dining experience.
