My family ordered the vermicelli with chicken and rice plate with chicken, with shrimp spring rolls on the side. The food was just okay and the dishes were slightly expensive--nothing amazing. However, for rice noodle dishes in Vietnamese cuisine, fish sauce typically comes on the side and is included in the price. Lantern charges $0.50 per small container of an essential sauce for a dish. My parents were shocked, and needless to say, I felt embarrassed to have brought them here. Staff was very nice and helpful, but the menu isn't in Vietnamese, nor does the staff speak the language. Sandwich was packed with thick slices of BBQ meat and fresh vege. Combination pho comes with very tender beef slices. Recommend boiling soup base again @ home and pour over noodles and bean sprouts. That makes beef and vege cook a bit more well done plus cools the broth to perfect temperature. The only thing I would recommend for them is that they use Styrofoam cups for the broth as the plastic containers they use get too hot and I'm not sure they are meant for hot liquids. Decided to try this place since they had just opened since the last time I was at Haven City Market. I got the Pho Beef. My mom got Bahn Mi Special (no pate since we were gonna share our food with each other and I don't like pate) and 3 pieces fried eggrolls. When I got the pho there was so much pepper sprinkled on top. Personally, I don't like pepper on my pho. The pho was good, but not the best. I've had better at other Vietnamese restaurants. My mom liked the bahn mi but mentioned it was so fatty. I tried it and also liked it, but did not enjoy the fat. The pork roll that is inside was really good. And the bahn mi had an even amount of meat and veggie ratio inside. The eggrolls were good. Very tasty, but the size was small for the price it was. I think the pricing is fair for the items, since that is what I normally pay at other Vietnamese restaurants. And I understand the limited amount of items they provide since they are in a sort of "pop up" shop. Food can be better consistently, not sure if it's the staff or the ingredients. I've ordered Uber eats from them maybe ten times and each time it's a hit or miss. Sometimes BANH mi bread is soft and on point other days it's hard like a cracker. I always ask for more Jalapeños and cilantro and it's almost like they do less purposely... either way give them a try and see what you think. Thought the overall bowl of pho wasn't too bad. The portions were a little on the smaller side - several pieces of meat with adequate amount of noodles. This place is located in Haven City. The minute you walk in, it's straight ahead in the back. I have tried the pork belly sandwich from here which so far is pretty good. I so ask for extra house mayo otherwise it's a bit dry. The baguette is good and fresh. It isn't too hard which is great for a banh mi. Their spring rolls weren't that great in my opinion and unfortunately, the sauce was a bit bland and watered down. My dad and I both ordered the Pho Special since it was the only one that had beef meatballs in it. It stayed pretty warm in the takeout container on the way to our hotel (~10 min), but was not hot enough to cook the steak so we had to microwave the broth. I found out about Haven City Market about a month ago and since Vietnamese food is one of my faves, I decided to take a trip down here to try this spot. The gentleman greeted me almost immediately. I had mentioned that I wasnt local, that I only invade the market on Fridays after work to buy meals I will most likely end up eating the following day. The pork and rice dish was ready rather quickly and I immediately went to the patio to sample it. I stopped to take a few pics (for the gram of course) but when I dug into it, the salad surprised me! The white dressing was bomb and had a creamy consistency, making me wish I had more of it. Ate the pickled goodies then dove into the meat. At first a taste hit me that I couldn't put my finger on, but could of sworn I smelled it when I walked up to order. Then it hit me...lemongrass duh! Lol! My only sadness was that the fried egg was cold. I know I only took pics for about a min or so, but I love when fried eggs still have that hot oil that burns my mouth. I also saw they had mango sticky rice as a dessert! I know some places only have it seasonal, so I was happy to find out it's a constant menu item! Its not technically Vietnamese, I know. I had originally placed an order through Yelp for takeout but the order was canceled after I had already waited about 20 minutes. Since I was already on my way to the location anyway, I asked them about it as soon as I arrived and they said it was cancelled because the tablets weren't up, even though it was almost 1PM and prime lunch time. The banh mi was really good, bread was toasty but soft on the inside, and chicken has good flavor and not dry. The spring rolls were also good, generously filled with shrimp and pork slices and the peanut dipping sauce was the perfect compliment. I didn't try the vegetarian spring rolls but noticed they did come with a different sauce which looked like fish sauce? They didn't look as generously filled but my bf said they were okay. I got the spicy basil chicken , thankfully i had a light snack before hand otherwise i would have been hangry. No I do eat meat but I favor, vegetarian or vegan food for I don't really know why, but I want you to know if you read this review this is for vegetarian items only. I got the vegetarian pho with veggie broth and the veggie spring rolls and they were both very very tasty. A lot of times vegetarian food is kind of gross to be honest. But that's why I like Vietnamese food because they can make it taste delicious even if it's vegetarian, but some Vietnamese places are kind of gross like anything. But this place is delicious. The soup flavor was delicious. I finished all of it. The spring rolls were so delicious and the dipping sauce which was also vegan I don't know what it was, but it was so so so so yummy. This little gem is located in a modern day food court called Haven city. We were in the mood for warm food and turns out this was the place to get it! We didn't know anything about it, we hadn't even yelped it but we took a chance and we were glad we did! We had chicken pho and a starter of shrimp and pork spring rolls. Right away I could see through the small window into the kitchen that there was a woman back there that probably was the owner and chef, coking what may be a family recipe and I was very excited to taste her soup. They offer what seems to be a traditional pho but I elected to go with the chicken and it was delicious! I asked for extra jalapeño and cilantro and they obliged. The typical sides, bean sprouts, lemon/lime and a very nice Thai basil bouquet as well. While I waited for the soup to cool I enjoyed one of the spring rolls which was very very good. Very fresh tasting with a delicious peanut sauce to complement it. Although they do not offer wine or alcohol of any kind she was very sweet to direct us to the corner of the building where there is a bar where we ordered a glass of wine and were allowed to take it in a plastic cup back to the Lantern to enjoy with our meal. The Lantern is only a month old, in a small corner and might be hard to find randomly especially with such a large selection of foods stalls one could possibly become overwhelmed. They have a limited menu, but that's not a bad thing if you're looking for a delicious dish, especially pho. Again, it feels like you were eating from someone's handed down recipes. Great job ! I decided to come here after work since I was craving something soupy due to the weather. I had the lantern pho special and banh mi special (not pictured) and was pleasantly surprised!! Being fully Vietnamese, I am very critical when eating my own ethnic cuisines. Lantern's food exceeded my expectations. The pho broth was delicious, very flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The banh mi was also very delicious. The bread was the perfect crispiness - all the meats, veggies, and spread inside complimented eachother very well when taking a bite..
