And Pho combination regular size: it is flavorful with good ingredients and garnishes for both noodle soups. And we ordered 2 spring rolls, they are slightly cold so it's premade. The waitress is friendly and acts fast on request and provides good servicess during our lunch. Ambient is uniquely Vietnamese modern. Restaurant is recently opened with just enough tables with 2 nice rest rooms. They are still adding outdoor eating area which is under construction. We were under the weather and craving pho. It was pretty late but I was fortunate enough to find them on Yelp and they were open until 9:30PM. I went to their website, and ordering was easy peasy. We arrived at the restaurant, and from the outside, the decorations stood out. We'll have to dine in one day. My husband picked up the food and commented that the server at the front was very nice. My husband and I were craving pho and were in Eastvale at the time and I searched for the Rancho area and seen all the delicious bowls of pho at Lantern Viet as well as garlic noodle pictures and drove over to experience it myself. This restaurant did not disappoint. Everything was so good and fresh. The Thai tea and Vietnamese coffee were both so good. I wish there was a drive thru just for the drinks alone. My mom and I got the spicy beef soup with flank only. My new favorite. I was feeling extra hungry so I also got an order of garlic noodles with prawns and I still can't get over how good they were! This is the best place to get vegan pho in all of Southern California. It's unbelievable. Everything is super flavorful, their broth is delicious. Came in for their soft opening. The place has a good location, with plenty of parking and potentially and outdoor area in the future, because there's a gated area where they could put patio tables. Plenty of parking and easily accessible. The inside decor was nice, modern, pretty, and not overdone or too plain. They had both booths and chairs which is so nice to have the different options. I got the banh canh, which was interesting. I'm Vietnamese but I can't say I've tried every Vietnamese dish and I know there's items from different regions that might be slightly different. With that said, I can say I've never had banh canh like this. It was called Vietnamese Udon, which is interesting because the noodles were literally udon noodles. In my experience Banh Canh noodles are usually softer and lighter than the traditional udon noodles, but they're definitely very similar in look and size, so I know a lot of people will call it udon because it's more commonly known, but these were literally udon noodles, which were fine. I ordered the Banh Canh just as is I didn't say anything to change or add or substitute. The dish said it came with pork hock, which mine did not. I actually don't normally like pork hock, but I just thought it was interesting they left it out. Also the optional toppings which again, I didn't say anything, but it automatically came on it. Which is also fine, I wasn't picky about it- but it said optional on the menu yet they just put it in. Could be soft opening issues which is also fine. The broth was interesting with the coconut milk, it tasted very yummy, but I can honestly say I've never had banh canh like this. Overall it was an enjoyable dinner- in terms of authenticity- I cannot speak for that because I'm pretty Americanized- but I just know I've never had banh canh like this before. Updated Review - Foodborne Illness, Verified Health Code Violations, and False Public Accusation by Restaurant On July 19, 2025, I visited Lantern Vietnamese Kitchen and ordered their "Egg Coffee." Within 30 minutes, I developed severe stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, and numbness. I was the only person at my table who drank the egg coffee -- and the only one who got sick. I later sought urgent medical attention, and believing this was a serious food safety issue, I filed a complaint with San Bernardino County Environmental Health Services (EHS). What happened next? On July 23, 2025, an EHS inspector visited the restaurant and conducted a formal foodborne illness investigation. The official inspection report found three health code violations, including: Use of unpasteurized raw eggs in the egg coffee No consumer advisory on the menu about the raw egg risk Improper warewashing - utensils used for beverages were being washed in a handwashing sink (a serious violation) You can see the highlighted EHS report excerpt here: View Report Image These are real, confirmed public health violations, not just my opinion. Restaurant's Dishonest Response Instead of acknowledging the issue, the restaurant published a false and defamatory response, claiming I "threatened to expose them unless they paid me $5,000." This is completely untrue. The truth is, I privately contacted the restaurant and requested reasonable compensation ($4,800) for my medical expenses and time lost. I provided medical documentation, and made no threats. The restaurant also claimed they warned customers on the menu about raw eggs -- this is another lie. The EHS report explicitly states: "Observed the facility missing a consumer advisory for the egg coffee which uses raw shell eggs." That proves they did not disclose the health risk anywhere on the menu at the time I consumed the drink. Why I'm Writing This I wrote this review to: Tell the truth Warn other customers Hold businesses accountable when they serve high-risk ingredients without proper safety or disclosure This is not about revenge. It's about transparency and public health. Final Thoughts I will never return to Lantern Vietnamese Kitchen again, and I caution others -- especially if you're ordering egg-based or raw ingredient drinks. I came on a Sunday afternoon to order to go. Specifically, i was craving a banh mi. The options are limited in the IE for asian food let alone banh mi. However, the one at lantern seemed the most promising. I arrived and was greeted. The interior is quite nice and i like the vietnamese music playing. The banh mi is pork belly and cost about $13 which is more expensive than usual banh mis but since its coming from a restaraunt, this is probably why it costs more. The banh mi had a nice soft bread. The pork belly was nice and flavorful. They amount of meat and pickles veggies were generous. Overall, a good banh mi considering the vicinity. Customer service is nice. It is located in a big plaza with a stater brothers so parking is easy. I will be back to try their others foods. read more
