We ate with this choice. The prices here are insanely good for the amount of food they give us. Like I mean the pizza is so stuffed with topping. This is definitely worth it. It is hands down the best hummus I've had. The service was good. They were all so kind and welcoming. I loved it. I'm coming back. They slayed.

If you leave hungry it's your own fault. Food portions are very generous. The subs and sandwiches are packed. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Don't forget to get the punch card. After 6 visits you get a free 12 inch sub.

I've gotten delivery from this eatery for a couple of years, and recently started dining in. It is very local to me and "Jimmy" the owner is frequently on site. The offerings are generally deli sandwiches and pizza. Ever since I started ordering from them I have been overwhelmed by the huge portions. Today I got a Reuben with fries and it covered an entire large plate. My husband got the New Yorker, which was always a favorite of my son's when he lived here. Even my husband could not finish his sandwich in one go. Most of my family got the chips, which are really tasty and seem homemade. They are a sort of thin waffle chip. My other son today got the Greek Burger and my daughter in law got the Chicken Gyro. Again, huge portions. On a previous visit they had a Greek special with chicken and rice. My son has been craving that since then although it hasn't reappeared on the menu when we've been in. The spanakopita, a Greek spinach and cheese filled pastry, is made from Jimmy's mother's recipe. She just passed away recently but Jimmy assures us she taught some of the kitchen staff to make it just as she did. I have had the spanakopita on several visits and it is stuffed full of spinach. That can be good or bad, depending on your affection for cooked spinach. The dining area is quite large as it used to be a nicely appointed Chinese restaurant for many years called Spring Garden and later Le Bamboo Bistro. There is no remnant of either of those previous eateries. This is a vinyl booths, claw and arcade machines, order at the counter family establishment. All of the staff that I have ever encountered are friendly, customer oriented and eager to please. I haven't ever been in for dinner but during the day there is a steady flow of customers and many families. The prices are moderate but to feed a family of 4 today the cost was about $65 for 4 sandwiches and drinks. So about $15 per person. That must be why the portions are so huge. I really wish many places would offer smaller options and charge less. But any place in Virginia that sells alcohol (they sell beer here) has to charge more for food to make up for that provision that food sales significantly exceed alcohol sales. If you are hungry for made to order, huge portions and a casual environment from a locally owned small business, bring your family, friends and your appetite to this Yorktown eatery.

This place was really clean and welcoming! The customer service was very cheerful and inviting. You order at the register and seat yourself. I ordered the Greek nachos which were tasty, it had gyro beef/lamb meet with pita triangles, lettuce, tomato, onions and tzatziki sauce. My husband ordered a grilled chicken gyro, that's what I would order when we return because the chicken was seasoned well, and it was really fresh, and juicy! Inside it was kind of like a restaurant/sports bar because it had multiple tv's and tables and booths. Would definitely recommend!

It's a nice Greek style deli. The service was quick and we got our food shortly after ordering. They had tons of options, and also offered meat alternatives if you don't like beef or lamb for your gyro. I tried it with the grilled chicken and it was so good juicy and tender ! The spot is decently sized with some booth and table seating inside. If you like classic Greek gyros and sandwiches give this place a try you won't leave hungry!

Jimmy, forgive me for not coming in more often and for never reviewing... fresh and flavorful like the first time I stopped by, it's good to see things haven't changed. The chicken gyro was everything I needed. As we walked in, we were very pleasantly welcomed by someone who gave us a quick run down and some recommendations - turned out he was actually off the clock and was heading home for the day, but was kind enough to spare a few minutes for us to make sure we were looked after. Thank you! I loved the homemade waffle potato chips; a crunchy exterior similar to potato chips, few were soft in the middle - except for the larger chips, but they were delicious. I finished them all. The portion was huge. I'm not ashamed. The restaurant area was quiet for a 4pm on a Tuesday, but there were many take out orders being picked up, which very quickly has me adding JDG to my list of take out options, opa!

Staff, awesome and friendly. Food, delicious and huge portions. Split your meal! When I go I split the greek salad and a sandwich with my mom. We love the New Yorker. It is pastrami and corned beef, spicy mustard, cheese... delicious They have their home made chips which are little waffle fry chips. No need to upgrade to actual french fries.

My wife and I had heard so much about this place , from the moment we walked through the door I've never felt so welcomed, the food was ABSOLUTELY SECOND TO NONE. If you have a chance to stop by My wife and I HIGHLY recommend it. Super friendly staff ,great food and very relaxed environment. Heck I was so comfortable I felt like it was my restaurant. Can't say enough GREATthings about this place. County's BEST restaurant!

Saw this place when we were on our way to a nearby restaurant. The other restaurant had a wait of 45 minutes at 8:30 on a Saturday night! Decided to walk down to da Greek's deli and so glad we did! We ordered a traditional gyro, a Reuben, and a salad along with a couple of Greek beers. Everything was delicious!!! The staff was pleasant and helpful and the bathrooms were clean. We look forward to trying other things on the menu and sitting outside on the patio when it warms up! read more

Hands down, an absolutely amazing place! First off- being it was our first time- I loved how the cashier promptly greeted us, made us feel welcome, showed us the "specials of the day" and told us to have a seat wherever and we can come to the counter and order when we were ready. Didn't take us long after reading reviews and taking my parents word on how awesome this place was. My husband got the New Yorker, I got the Reuben and my kids shared a ham and cheese sub. First off, those home made waffle chips! Yum yum and yum! Simple but so good. Our sandwiches were EXCELLENT. Fully recommend the New Yorker and Rueben. They are huge, full of flavor and so fresh! The owner made sure everyone loved their meal and engaged in conversation with customers. I love that bc it shows he truly cares. I found this little hidden gem on yelp and decided to try it out due to the good reviews. I'm glad I did! Lunch was so good I went back for dinner the same day. The food was cooked to order, the staff was upbeat and friendly, and the restaurant itself is clean and inviting. The food was excellent and the prices are reasonable. I really wanted to like this place. I have to say if you ever had Mr. Gyro on Warick? Thats one star loss. They are reallllly hard to beat. Another reason is that our food took awhile. People that ordered after us got there food ahead of us. 3 of them!! That is where this place lost another star. And no it's not because they ordered " easier making food ". Something went wrong with our food. It would of been nice if someone acknowledge us about the wait. No one did. read more

Service is friendly and atmosphere is casual. Dining room was very clean. Came here because of great reviews but the food was so-so for me. We had gyros and souvlaki with home made chips. The souvlaki was more authentic than the gyro, and the gyro sauce confused me because it appeared to have pickle bits or relish in it (Tzatziki is yogurt and cucumbers with garlic, dill, olive oil, lemon), so I guess it was store bought. Probably won't be ordering those again. The homemade chips were pretty good! Next time I'll try the sandwiches or pizza because that seems to be what other folks like here the most, and they had lots of options. read more

Let me start by saying the staff is friendly and the place is clean. We had to however have a tv on with bloody wrestling on while we were eating. Ewe. Not kosher. We came in late on a week day. The waitress was patient and friendly as we decide our order. The menu is extensive with sandwiches and Greek fare. We decided on the steak and cheese sandwich. The 6 inch steak and cheese had more meat on it than a 12 inch at subways. It was tasty and a good price for the serving. I could've gone for a toasted bun, but that's ok. The reason for my three star rating is the gyro. It was disappointing. The gyro meat was not warm and could've have gone for a tossing on the grill. If I was a betting person I would bet that there is NOT a rotating gyro meat grill in the kitchen. The meat was condensed and a grayish matter. The tzatziki sauce was put on the front of the gyro SO I had to unroll it and spread it around. The sauce itself was not to flavorful. For a place with Greek in its name they should at least make a good gyro. There potato chips were tasty. They should not charge an extra dollar for fries. It looks like they are trying to penny pinch. Just put the dollar as your price. read more

The staff is friendly, but on my first and only visit, I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered a steak and cheese sandwich with provolone, sauteed onions and peppers, and topped with tomato and lettuce (hold the mayo) with the homemade chips with a side of ranch. What I received: the philly steak sandwich with cheese sauce, no lettuce or tomato, and it had mayo. I was also given onion rings for my side. I was the only customer in the restaurant when I came in, and only one table came in after me to dine in while I was there. It was disappointing and puzzling that my order was so wrong during such a light customer flow. read more

I have been looking for ages for a good gyro place that wasn't crazy expensive or crazy far away, and this is it! Their regular gyro is so good, so juicy that you need five napkins and so big you can hardly roll it up. The spanikopita is crispy and full of feta, and if you're lucky, you'll get your waffle fries when they are still warm. They're pretty good cold, but warm they are really something else! Kids will like the old fashioned video game machine tables and a basic but solid kids menu selection. This is my new local favorite! read more

Oh, my! I can't say enough good things. Finally, a place with an awesome steak sub. They also have an awesome Reuben sandwich. That is all that I have had so far, but we will definitely keep returning. The last time we went was on a Saturday, for dinner. This place is fantastic. I had the regular gyro and homemade chips my husband had the Philly cheesesteak and French fries. Everything was delicious but my husband thinks they forgot to put the cheese wiz on his cheesesteak. Hopefully people go there because I don't want it to close. Amazing Sandwich. Where has this Reu-been all my life! Finally a real Deli style sandwich in Yorktown. This sandwich was piled high with juicy corned beef and layered with melted swiss and sauerkraut. Even the toasted rye bread didn't disappoint. The plate was topped off with their crispy homemade waffle cut chips and a pickle spear. I'm not kidding when I tell you I had to cut half of the sandwich in half just to eat it. Trust me, you'll be bringing the the other half home for another meal. So, Bring your appetite, you'll need it. I noticed this place along Rt 17 a few times before trying it, and decided to go one evening after teaching a lab at TNCC. I went in, and noticed the clean, well lit and spacious floor plan. The staff was very friendly and answered all questions with a smile. I noticed the variety of items on the menu, and decided to go with a house salad, medium meat lovers pizza, and a drink. I sat down and was surprised at the prompt service and delivery to my table. The house salad was HUGE and was enough for 2, and the pizza was bubbling hot. While I was eating, I noticed what others had ordered. I didn't see the specials board with fish and chips, otherwise I would have ordered that, The 2 patrons who did received a heaping amount of golden fried fillets on a mountain of fries. Next time. Also, 2 gentlemen ordered Gyros, which were gi(ant)-normous. Also, next time. When I was finished, she brought me boxes to put in my leftovers, and I left with a smile. Please try out this place. We live 0.8 miles away and decided to try for the first time. Walked in at 8:30pm and only 2 people in dinning room, place was clean, staff was nice. Ordered take out, 2 subs w/fries and onion rings. Got home, opened containers and found everything totally burnt. Bred was hard as a brick and black a coal. $25 thrown in the trash! read more

I have been here several times since they opened. I've had delivered sandwiches that were huge and tasty! Then the Greek salad and the Italian sub. They have daily specials and I usually order them because they are fresh and fantastic! Tonight we ordered a large cheese pepperoni pizza, ample sauce and loaded cheese! I'm picky about pizza as my Uncle owned a pizza shop with the best , but Jimmy da Greek dough is very soft but chewy and flavorful! Loved it! Friendly staff and go for the sports too! Lots if TVs!! read more

I had an amazing experience at this Greek spot! The food was absolutely delicious--perfectly seasoned chicken, fresh toppings, and a soft, warm pita that brought so much happiness to the gyro. The homemade tzatziki was a standout--so fresh and flavorful, it really elevated the entire meal. The house made chips were my favorite as well. The Greek fries were okay. We liked the seasoning on them but the fries themselves left much to be desired. I don't think it detracts from the rating though. The chips made up for it! All I can say is WOW. My family and I went to Lantern Cafe (formerly Jimmy da Greeks) and we were so impressed! Nava greeted us from the register when we walked in creating an inviting atmosphere right from the start. She was kind, answering all of our questions about the new menu and provided great suggestions. Our dinner arrived quickly and it was noticeable that the kitchen staff did not sacrifice quality for speed. My brother enjoyed the Lamb Gyro and would not stop raving about the quality of the pita. If you've eaten at Lantern (or Jimmy Da Greek), try it again. Today, we had the Brussel Sprout and bacon pizza with balsamic drizzle. It was beyond delicious. On a 5-point scale, it was a 10! Was it better than the mushroom pizza I raved about last month? That depends on what you're in the mood for - the mushroom pizza is smooth and cheesy whereas the Brussel Sprout pizza has crunch and a sweet-tartness.
