I have been to LaoTable a few times and each time I have really enjoyed my experience and food. The restaurant is well decorated and is very clean. Their menu has some really great items and some familiar options. Our food quality is great and the cocktails were wonderful. I used to frequent this place back when it was simply Osha Thai. They decided to give it a makeover, added some Lao influences, and went for a pan-Asian vibe. Of course, they also decided to double the prices. Recently, I had the joy of wasting over an hour trying to place a phone order for our group. All I got was a recording on repeat, asking me to leave a message in a mailbox that was already overflowing. I even tried faxing the order as they suggested, thinking maybe they'd appreciate a throwback to the 80s. But surprise, surprise--they didn't receive the fax. My friend raves about this place. Then again, she speaks Thai, and I love hearing people order food in their native language. I couldn't join happy hour for very long, but they have a good one. Located in FiDi, it gets busy fairly quickly once everyone gets off work. Worth it, though... you can even sit at the bar. We ordered a few cocktails and appetizers. My friend talked to the restaurant owner about some of her favorites. Though I can't remember exactly what we ordered, I remember everything was tasty, both the food and drinks. For my cocktail, it was similar to a spicy cucumber gimlet. Boozy and flavorful. I know we at least had the Tom Yum French Fries. Anything with "Tom Yum" in the description deserves a try. I definitely want to come back for dinner sometime, not just happy hour. Wow this place was amazing. I ordered a chicken with thick noodles on recommendation from the waiter and a watermelon dream drink! The first sips were incredible although it should have been mixed better bc the last sips were pure alcohol; which hey isn't always bad. The food came so fast. Service was friendly and helpful. If you do not want to serve at 8:45 do not give that as an option when I am making reservations!! I was going to a show earlier and needed a late dinner reservation. First they send 2 messages. 1st one around 8pm suggesting that the table is ready and if I would like to arrive early. 2nd one in 15mins saying that they close at 9:30 so to arrive early. I arrive assuming the messgwes are just a suggestion and as soon as I walk in the host asked me if I received the meesages and it's last call so I need to order everything at once. Ok that was alright, which we did. Then in 15mins the waitress comes and leaves the bill at the table and says taoke your time. So we went for dinner slightly before Happy Hour ended (around 10-15 minutes before), and the staff was trying to delay seating us so we couldn't order off the happy hour menu. They were being very meticulous checking our IDs and vaccination cards even though for other parties they were very swift about the process. The second flag was when we finally got seated 5 minutes before happy hour ended, and the staff said we couldn't order the platter because they were out of some ingredients. The platter was just a combination of other items on their happy hour menu like the northern Thai sausage, calamari, fried wings, Tom yum fries. That made sense to us but we ordered every item on the happy hour menu and they had it. The food was good but I'm not sure I'd say it's worth the price. Amazing food! I am a vegetarian so i liked the fact that in their menu they had mentioned next to each dish whether it can be made vegetarian/vegan. We ordered thai iced tea, lao fried rice and mixed vegetable wok. Everything was really tasty and i would recommend all of those dishes. We also ordered hot jasmine tea which was bad :( i also think that our server wasnt particularly good or friendly. But i would definitely come here again for the food! P.S. I came here last week for dinner, right when Indoor Dining was allowed with Red Tier in SF! I have never had Laotian food before coming here. We all enjoyed it! I really loved the Lao Fried Rice, which had chicken wings, minced chicken, with a poached egg on top. Other things we ordered were the Crispy Spring Rolls, Papaya Salad, Pineapple Fried Rice, Moo Ping Pork Skewers, Spicy Eggplant, and Khaw Kai noodles. I think my favorite was the Khao Kai Noodles (thick noodles with peanuts, caramel soy sauce) - so good! We loved all of our dishes though. We took home leftovers, and they were also great the next day too. I could be wrong, but after trying Laotian food, it is quite similar to Thai food. I think the major differences are that the spices are slightly different (it didn't seem as spicy as Thai food could be), and I think there were more sour flavors in some of the dishes too (the lime maybe). It was so subtle though...you could have told me it was Thai food, and I would have believed you. Definitely just as delicious though! Can't wait to return. read more

Lao table has the best Thai food I've ever had in my entire life! And I've been to Thailand. The food here was just as authentic as what I ate in Thailand. Seriously so delicious! I got their most popular noodle dish khaw Kai noodles with chicken. It was the perfect serving size leaving me very filled up. I especially enjoyed the sweet and sour type sauce that came with it. I was also very impressed with the incredible fast service. We went at a busy lunch time but still within 15 minutes of sitting down, my party of 6 had drinks, appetizers, and entrees in front of us. We went there for team lunch. This place gets really crowded during lunch hours. I ordered the Khaw Kai noodles (vegetarian). They have limited options for vegetarians. Also the server wasn't nice either when I asked for recommendations for vegetarians . The service was fast though. The noodles I ordered was decent and the portion was huge! And because of that, we were/we should be able to order happy hour (till 7pm) but obviously no one would come to us until right past 7pm regardless how we tried to look for someone to help. We ordered several items to share. The presentation of the food looked very nice. But the taste was just ok. We ordered a Lao salad and no one like it at all. We ended up waste more than half of it. Came here for dinner and was seated promptly after being checked for vaccination status. For 2 people, we ordered the oysters, crispy calamari, deconstructed crispy tuna, and the Thai tea dessert. The oysters were really tiny. The flavor was ok for me, I am not an oyster person though. The crispy calamari came with a spicy tamarind sauce, which I enjoyed. The crispy tuna was not what I expected. It came as in the form of fried batter with minimal tuna flavor. Despite that, I enjoyed the flakey texture a lot and was impressed that it stayed crispy and flakey despite using the spicy fish sauce on it. I ordered this on medium spice and it was spicy enough to get me teary. Lastly, the dessert was quite simple, but looked nice. It was shaved ice with Thai tea poured on top, with some fresh fruits and a scoop of ice cream. I would say this is good for maybe 4+ people. It was hard for 2 of us to finish on a cold night. The water cups they give you are tiny, and I found myself without water the majority of time. The staff get busy and you will have to flag them for more water. Overall, I think the food I got was alright. The presentation and the atmosphere brings this from 3.5 to 4 stars. read more

Was a bit disappointed they no longer made the huge Thai tea drink posted from yelp reviewers. All the food we ordered had a great kick of spicy level. The crispy sticky rice salad aka Nam Khao was good. The seasoning and texture of the rice was great. Loved how there was a lot of veggies. The eggplant with tofu dish was flavorful. I was a bit disappointed there was no meat but totally my fault for not reading the whole dish description . This was also our first meal that we had so much veggies and barely any meat . The Surp Nor Mai was alright. We were a bit confused on how to eat the dish since it came with similar veggies like the Nam Khao. Friend said they usually just eat it with sticky rice. My First time having this dish but per friend, this is a traditional Lao dish but the flavor of this dish appeared to have been tailored to the population they're serving. Coming from a Laotian culture Friend said it could have been better. The Mok Lao Seabass was all my friend. Friend killed it and said it was pretty delicious. Overall, food was good. We went for lunch and it was quite busy, but service was on point, with front waiters handling the business end of the transactions and an army of runners bringing out the food. Food presentation gets an A+. Food flavors are bold and well balanced. Banana Blossom Salad: Stellar presentation. Great flavors of lime, lemongrass, chilis, fish sauce. My only criticism would be the meager portion of chicken included. Grilled Calamari: nicely cooked. A little chewy but that's to be expected. The sauce was terrific. This dish was hard to eat and while they did supply a steak knife it was still challenging to share this. Maybe better for one person. Green Papaya Salad: Yum! Honestly, so damn good. Came here with my coworkers for lunch. We had a reservation in advance but had to wait out till the entire party was present. They were kinda strict for that which we didn't like it, as we had to stand in the sun and wait and somehow convinced them after a lot of requests, when most of our crew was there. However once we entered we realized it was super packed and we could barely hear anyone as it was not sound proofed. We ordered chicken satay, spring rolls and beef for appetizers, and they came out super fast, well decorated and yummy. We also ordered a bunch of items for food like Lao fried rice, duck in the basket(forget the name), noodles and pumpkin curry, everything had average portions (but I think other Thai places in the city I went to had bigger portions) and was tasty regardless. Had to pack in a Togo box because we couldn't finish it and they were rushing to get check. Also ordered coconut water (they brought in whole coconut), lychee ice tea (amazing), Thai ice teA. I also noticed they have 11$ lunch box option during lunch time with 3/4 food options to choose from (night have to come back during work hour for a quick pickup). Would've given 4 stars if the service was good but I'm just Giving 3 stars for service as they didn't treat us well and constantly asked us to make space and sit very close to each other to make space for the table next to us (very weird). For anyone in the area, this place is a must try!!! My friend and I arrived around 5:30 PM and it was already packed with a few parties waiting outside the door. We were fortunately able to get seated quickly. They have a lot of variation on the menu. I decided to be basic and go to the pad thai and it was a decision well made! The portion was pretty big and the pad Thai was very well flavored -- both sweet and umami. The noodles were well cooked and all the components of the dish made it very delicious! Not the best place to grab food, lots of better options. For aesthetic and the gram, great place though :) We got the chicken skewers, red curry, and the pho duck. The pho was duck was very lacking. Very flat broth and the duck was extremely subpar. Dry and very unflavorful. Honestly a pack of good ole cup noodle packs more flavor than that dish. The chicken skewers were good and the peanut sauce was a tad sweet but quite excellent. The red curry was also not too bad. Came here and ordered a Tom Zaap Beef soup. It is $20.95 per bowl and $9.95 per cup. I ordered a bowl and I think that should be enough to make me full given the $20+ price. But after I got served, the size is really just a cup. Only 4 or 5 small beef inside the bowl. Very disappointed. When I ordered the dish, the waitress did not even tell me that such a bowl of soup is small and should not be enough for me. read more

They have heater towers but I still found it pretty chilly in a February night so I would highly advise bringing a coat. *Food* Lao table has consistently delivered delicious food. Highly recommend sharing the crispy spring rolls and the crying tiger beef as main course. Both cocktails and tea selection were delicious and wrapped in beautiful presentation. As for dessert, all four options on the menu was a win. My group was not a huge fan of the tower of shaved ice but the mango sticky rice it was paired with more than makes up for it. *Service* The service was slow but otherwise personable. With only couple of servers, we had to compete for our waiter's attention every time we needed anything. Our waiter also missed a cocktail order but did not put it on the final receipt. Overall, it's not the prompt service I grew to expect from Lao, but given that it is the Pandemic, I thinks most diners are forgiving. What I liked about the plate was all the fresh garden veggies to eat with the fish. On the side note, all the food is on a big, tall platter. I was barely able to see my friends face!
