I've been to Larry's countless times. I've had girls' nite out here, birthday parties, etc. here. I'm always talking my friends into coming because the karaoke is so much fun, the atmosphere is great, the music great, etc. Drinks are so-so, food not so much, but I would've still given it five stars for the fun factor. Until this weekend. My guest was refused entry because she had an out-of-state license. Never mind that she's been here before and had a great time, never mind that she is thirty-something, never mind that we both buy plenty of the lackluster drinks while we are there, never mind that the place was totally empty... the guy with a t-shirt marked "Staff" said absolutely no out-of-state licenses, no matter what the age. Only exception: military IDs. A gal came out to back him up when we complained. She looked us over and gave us the thumbs down. Larry's management, WAKE UP. Your venue is deep in the heart of VACATION RENTALS. There are more Arizonans within a one-mile radius than California residents at any given time, not to mention other states. Those of us who live here like to bring our guests to fun night spots and guess what... we won't be bringing them to Larry's anymore. read more

I always pass this place up when i go to check the surf and what not and decided to check int to grab some brunch. For a dive bar its pretty nice, but the people that go in there are regulars and older people 55+ but it didnt bother me. I ordered some cheese stick and onion rings and my gf got a chicken ceasar salad which was a real huge portion. The food tasted bland but what can you get when your at a dive bar. Then i ordered a vodka cranberry which was too strong so as I received my bill she tried charging me for a drink I told her I did not like. We got into an arguement and who boss who look like the bottom of the barrel was chuckling as this was going on. She eventually gave in and took the drink off my order, little does this dive know is that the CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS right, and if you want to survive in this economy you better fuckin kiss ass no matter what. Customer service 2/5 I would only come here with a group of friends who have the munchies and can careless of their unacceptable customer service. I love Larry's, I just wish they would bring back Mike the KJ, and bring back the karaoke. Sure, stabbings happen... coke and meth busts are a thing.. but I've been going to Larry's since it was McCabes, and there was nothing new there... It's just a cool homey bar. The staff are cool. My favorite dive bar in Oceanside, maybe even all of north county. Had many good times here. The manner in which I give a bar the stamp of a dive is if you can go there wearing pjs & no makeup... And well you fit in just fine. I've come here just like that, also super dressed up this place being the last stop & everything in between... One thing for sure it's always been a good time! Bartenders are friendly & on point, as well as pour a nice stiff drink. I normally go here on weeknights, they mainly have karaoke which is fine...there's nothing like coming to a good bar after a bad day strong drink in hand & singing to a forgiving crowd; ) I've also been here on nights that they have live music, the bands have always been great. Went in the day, so maybe that is the reason they only get one star. The Chargers were playing on Christmas Eve, and not being locals, we decided to try Larry's Beach Club, cause we saw signs that showed they played football games. Went in there and the place was pretty empty. It took my bro 10 mins to just get a menu, then another 10 mins to finally put in his order. In one corner of the bar, there is a women screaming at her kid to shut up or she'll kick his butt (yes, Christmas eve and she's telling her 7 year old, in a bar, she will kick his butt). That floored me!!!!!! Then at the bar, there is a drunk women freaking out cause someone is stalking her outside the bar. This is all happening around noon on xmas eve. Looking for cheap drinks and cheap thrills? Just kidding. Not about the cheap drinks. My go to is vodka soda with cinco limes. My bestie and I have a good time here. Service isn't always the best but my company makes up for it. Plus they dont have A/C, it can get humid during the summer. They are close to the oside beach and have cheap drinks, TVs, Jukebox and karokkee, that's why that get four stars. read more

This is the closest bar to our home.. wish I could say anything great about it... but i cant. I guess the beer is cold, so thats a plus. ... we stop by sometimes when out on our beach cruisers but have decided not to waste money on anything other than the beer. (down side - no bike racks..which seems ridiculous for a beach dive bar) Food is absolutely terrible.. it's cafeteria type dining at it's worst. Don't even try something simple like Nachos or Fries.. because they will be sure to screw those up. Mixed drinks are always watered down. Also, their diet coke tastes more like syrup than soda. Service sucks. For the number of times we've had the same middle aged bar tender who works weekend days.. she still acts like she's never seen us before. One of the only places I've found in Oceanside, I mean how can all those Breakfast Places offer Brunch without a Bloody Mary?? It's just not right! But not at Larry's! This is one of the last "old school Oceanside" places. It's a gem. This is the dive bar that gives dive bars a bad name. Granted, its better than it once was, but it's still seedy - complete with the smellscape of a lousy casino and creepily lit back room. Beers are cheap, but not enough to justify the atmosphere. There are plenty of bargains in town, come to larrys when you want a show. Staff is friendly and there is an outdoor area, lots of tvs playing sports, and plenty of parking. read more

It doesn't pretend to be something it's not. It's a small, older building that houses some good music (if a bit too loud in some spots), some fun local flavor (people watching is fun), and some good bartenders. We were in town for the weekend, having rented a condo down the street on the beachfront. We drove past Larry's a few times and decided to pop in after a search for good clam chowder left us disappointed (and hungry). What's the soup today? Of course... clam chowder! A couple down the bar from us raved over some chicken wings and someone else was salivating over a sandwhich of some sort. The food seemed to be hitting all the right spots! We had some drinks, met some folks, and were chatted up by the bartender. It was quiet, the drinks were cold and stiff, and the atmosphere was cool and casual. College football in the background didn't suck. :) We took the soup home and, whether or not it was homemade or not, it was tasty and just what we needed. The following night found us back at Larry's for some football after dinner out at the Lighthouse. The bartenders were personable, efficient, and generous with their drinks and their smiles. They handled a few rowdy patrons with aplomb and got back to business. It probably qualifies as a bit of a dive bar, sure, but it's not a decrepit run-down relic of the past. It was clean, friendly, and put on no airs. A definite chill spot next time I am in the neighborhood. read more

Just tried to enjoy a fun night at Larry's beach club. The bouncer then made fun of my husband for having anxiety and saying he needed a medical note to get in. The bouncer then proceeded to get in my face when I was trying to explain he just had anxiety and wasn't drunk and says "YOURE PISSING ME OFF SO YOU CAN GO OUTSIDE WITH HIM" I closed my tab and left. I don't see how anxiety is an issue when there are people on the screened in porch smoking crack and snorting coke. Everyone in that place combined probably have 3 teeth. I've been to Larry's a handful of times and the customer service has not been good any of them. Last night I tried going with a big group of people and they refused to let my friend in. He wasn't drunk, he's over 21, and he wasn't doing anything wrong. The 2 people at the door stared at his ID over and over again and just said "nope" and wouldn't explain why they wouldn't let him in. It wasn't his first time going to Larry's but it was the first time we've seen them at the door. They didn't try to keep his ID as if it were a fake, they didn't wave over the cop that was parked right outside, they just said nope....we just took our group down the street to Pour House and gave them our money. read more

I got to go karaoke with Chopper and Kate at Larry's on a recent post X-mas night. Larry's was all but empty and this was my first time at this place known to me as McCabe's during my youth. It was everything I imagined it to be inside, well minus most of the patrons who might have been there on a busier night. Larry's has what you'd expect from a local bar: beer, booze, wine and some places to sit and enjoy it. What more do you need. On their karaoke nights they also have a pretty huge selection of songs, I was quite impressed. The KJ was very friendly and the stage was large enough for anyone to strut their stuff. Though the music seemed to drown out the vocals a bit much, I had a great time, and I'm sure I'll be going back there when i next return to O'side. read more

I used to like this place but I had a horrible experience with the bouncers. they are VERY HOMOPHOBIC and HATEFUL. Here is the story: My friend and I came in around 8pm. We decided to do some Karaoke. After a while we met a nice threesome, 2 guys and a girl who were also singing. We were having a great time and none of us were drunk. My friend and I were on our 2nd drink and I'm not sure but seemed like they were about the same. We decided to pair up and duet for a song or two- fun right??! Anyway, one of they guys was an amazing singer/performer. He could have been in a musical. Super talented. After one of his songs, he offered to buy a round. He went up to the bar inside the Karaoke room and thats when things got weird. The bouncer in the room approached him and started harassing him. He told him that he was too drunk. It was so totally ridiculous. It was obvious that he was targeting him and fabricating the issue. The guy was definitely NOT drunk. I was shocked! The only conclusion I could think of was that the bouncer assumed he was gay bc he was acting slightly flamboyant. There is no other thing I could think of. He told him he had to leave. Again I was totally SHOCKED! So I tried to intervene. Then they included me in the bunch and told me I had to leave. After being a loyal customer with NO issues for years, I am completely offended and upset by the actions of these bouncers. I say bouncers bc after I confronted the one, I tried to tell another how offensive the situation was, and he only shrugged his shoulders and continued the harassment and unjust removal. the only conclusion is can come to is that Larry's Beach Club is HOMOPHOBIC and HATEFUL I am so disappointed in the establishment read more

The worst customer service experience. Standing at the bar, mid afternoon, trying to place an order, for over 10 mins. Only reason we stayed is because we're already here and we're starving. Yes, this is a dive! No mistake. We have lived within walking distance for 6 years and never gave it a thought. But we wondered in one evening to the karaoke side and were instantly drawn in by the amazing diversity of the patrons there. Definitely a people watching place. Judgement-free karaoke. I would give six if I could. Larry's is THE SPOT for a wacky night. Moved to Oceanside and was looking for a dive bar. Stumbled upon Larry's and was a bit skeptical because of its appearance and location but wow were we wrong. Live music was great. 91 octane played and let me sit in on a song on the drums. They also called a lot of people from the crowd to sing. Everyone here knew how to have a good time, even the older crowd (mostly 40/50 year olds). Drinks at the bar were great - had some Long Island iced teas and the bartender was generous with her pours - can't beat that for $8. Will definitely return read more

In my whole life, I've never encountered anything quite like Larries. Have you ever been knuckle deep in your cousin and wondered what the best place to grab a beer and a burger is? Or, have you ever wanted to Chow after a long night of dominoes and rolling rock? Larries is the best answer to both of these questions. I think the best way to explain my love for Larries is to tell a story. One night, after a long day of catching crawfish at the local pier, I had a hankering for some beef of all things. Being an admitted alcoholic, I cannot accept any food without first being served a beer. After a long walk around Oceanside, I found Larries. They thankfully served me the grub I craved, while not giving me any sass for the crawfish odors that gets me in trouble with most establishments. My only complaint is the clientele. I don't know if they cater towards prissy folks, but I couldn't help but feel I was being stared at all night. Oh well. I'll definitely be back again. read more

If I can give zero I would. Horrible bar tender 6/29/19 4:00. Everyone can see shes busy however she looked at us like we are causing her trouble while trying to get a drink. Didn't say hello or I'll be right with you. Nothing. Then she laughed At us while we left 20 mins later after no acknowledgement. I am a local and have been to Larrys multiple times. Apparently do not go on weekends. Not to mention when she's not"busy"her drinks aren't not mixed properly. She laughed at us as we left. HORRIBLE read more
