Blueberry waffle
Matthew B.

Decided to come back here for a breakfast for 1. The place was packed with people eating in and getting takeout. I was pointed to a seat at the front counter as soon as I caught the attention of one of the staff. The smells coming from the kitchen and the hustle and bustle of all the orders always remind me of my family road trips to Georgia. I ordered a chicken and egg hash brown bowl and a waffle with blueberry nougat and a chocolate milk. As always this location serves up this food hot and fresh. I had a lovely Sunday morning here and I'll definitely keep coming back.

Ms.Joyce is the heart of this location. Her smile brings a pleasant greeting to all the enter. She creates a bond with the custo.ers that makes them want to return. The establishment is clean and well cared for. The team here enjoy their work, and it shows. At any time, you can walk in, and the jukebox is cranked, and they are singing along . Waffle House usually gets a bad rap. You would be incredibly wrong to say anything negative about this location. They are well staffed, and the food comes out fresh. I had the chicken and waffles this time around. Heads up, the chicken isn't fried. It is a pressed and well-seasoned breast. Tabasco is the hot sauce of choice here. Fresh sweet tea for days. It's worth every penny for the experience!

Happiest crew I've ever seen in My life, could have been newlyweds. As you can imagine the food came out perfectly!

The waiter was patient and chill, it took a while to get our food but it was fine for us plus it was pretty packed so no shame to the staff. The food looked good. And tasted good! I'm not gonna lie and say the place was super clean but it was good enough ‍

We haven't had Waffle House in a long time. It's one of those things you remember going to when you were young. When we arrived, they were packed, but they easily made a spot for us. The atmosphere wasn't loud like you might have expected for a crowded place, either! Our waitress Vanessa was very helpful and checked in on us often. The food was decent - good for the price you pay and where you're stopping at to eat. That being said, you could have better elsewhere, but you'll be paying elsewhere prices. These were simple breakfast meals, and their selections on their main menu were simple, with just a few options verses the countless options you might get elsewhere. All in all, a perfect place to get a bite to eat without rushing through a fast food restaurant.

Waffle House is Waffle House. Good 'ole breakfast food for cheap. This particular Waffle House is really clean and my food has always been cooked quickly and properly. They've never once messed up my over-medium eggs. The problem with this Waffle House and the reason for only 3 stars is the hit or miss service. Most of the time, it's a miss. We really don't require that much service: Take order, bring order, refill drinks. Sounds easy enough. It also seems even easier to me because every time we have been here, they haven't been busy. Getting a drink refill is like pulling teeth! There's one particular waitress here who is rude and dumb as a stick. As simple as the Waffle House menu is, she doesn't know it. I actually had to explain the menu to her and I even had to explain a comma to her. Yes... a friggin' comma! The menu reads, "Egg, Omelet and Steak & Egg Breakfasts are served with Toast, Jelly and Grits." She was going to charge me extra for the grits. What?! She then went on to explain to me that only the "Omelet Breakfasts" come with grits. What?! I explained the menu and as I pointed to the comma and began explaining, she literally snatched the menu from my hands and snapped, "I'll give you the grits!" What?! How is she "giving" me anything? The grits come with the meal and I'm paying for them. Wow! The ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me. You'll get good food here, but cross your fingers and hope you get good service. If you want a drink refill, you'll probably have to get up from your table and go to the counter and ask for one.

Powering up for the long flight home...

Stopped by Johnny's Angel and went straight for my forever favorite, the Fats Domino omelet. Packed with sausage, potato, bacon and melty cheese, it's hearty, comforting and absolutely loaded with flavor. Paired with creamy cheesy grits and classic white toast, this plate hits every nostalgic breakfast note. Service was friendly and quick, and the retro diner vibes never miss. Chrome, color and old-school charm everywhere you look. It really does feel like stepping into a time machine to when breakfast spots were the heart of the neighborhood. If you're craving a true diner breakfast done right, Johnny's Angel needs to be on your Jacksonville list. Have you been yet or is this going on your must-try list

The food is always amazing, and the atmosphere is energetic and fun. A very special shoutout to Christine, the bartender, who truly stands out. Her personality, speed, and professionalism are everything you hope for in a busy restaurant and bar. She's extremely knowledgeable about the menu, makes fabulous drinks, and still manages to make every customer feel welcomed even during the rush. Also, the dishwasher must be a hard worker because there was never a wait for clean dishes Christine the bartender said that he is also a hidden jewel! But the true hidden star here is Barry -- and although his title may be busboy, I'd definitely call him a busman because of the pride he takes in his work. While waiting, I watched him constantly keeping the bar and surrounding areas spotless. Nothing sat on tables for more than a minute. He stayed moving, organized, and focused the entire time. It's refreshing to see mature, hardworking staff who truly know how to handle large crowds during a huge event like the Jacksonville Jazz Fest. That level of teamwork and customer service does not go unnoticed. Highly recommend!

I ordered their cinnamon roll, and it was so yummy (and I'm a stickler for a good cinnamon roll)! I also ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on Texas toast with hash-browns. The sandwich was great, but will I say the hashbrowns were just OK -- I'll probably go with the country potatoes next time. The overall vibes were casual in a nice way -- nothing too aggressively themed, just a good and bright breakfast spot. Our server, Bonnie, was friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering a hodge podge of breakfast items: eggs over medium, hash browns, cheese grits, a waffle, and a blueberry muffin split and grilled. My mom got an egg sandwich with grits and vegetarian sausage (yay!). Our food came pretty quickly, and I hoovered up everything on my plate. Everything tasted the way you'd expect: just good breakfast food. The hash browns had a crisp top, which is vital for me. The malted waffle stood out the most; I could smell it the second our server walked out of the kitchen with it and I ate the whole thing, even though I frequently split a waffle and take half home for later. The muffin was good, but a special shoutout for the option to have it split, buttered, and lightly grilled. I immediately requested my mom start trying that with her own blueberry muffins next time I'm over. It's a little pricey, but what isn't these days? It sure hit the spot.
