    Chicken Burrito
    Andrea H.

Totally authentic and some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. A few months ago, when in the Blue Ridge mountains, I just happened to stumble across this unbelievable hole in the wall. This week, when back in the mountains, my family and I couldn't wait to take the 45 minute drive to pick up the food. Starting with the guacamole, a large container of fresh avocado with warm homemade chips...amazing...It was so good we finished it before we got back to the cabin! Fajita mixto had plenty of grilled steak, chicken, shrimp and lots of peppers and onions. Served with fresh corn tortillas, rice, beans and avocado. Portions are huge so don't let the low prices fool you. At $12 this was enough for 2. Burritos are overstuffed and delish. Just when you think you have ordered enough, this prize comes with fresh chips and a drink! If you're anywhere near Blue Ridge and like Mexican food ... this is a must

In my opinion this is the best authentic Mexican food in the area! Service is super fast, food is plentiful and fresh. Plenty of seating and has little Hispanic market in the restaurant. Three of us ate a plate meal and the total bill was less than $40. I had the carne asada and the meat was tender and cooked perfectly! The only issue was the jalapeño was super spicy, my fault for not tasting a small portion instead of a large bite, wow super hot and cooked perfectly!

Where do I even start?! I had to use the restroom. It was outside of the building. They covered a large hole in the wall with a styrofoam type material from floor to ceiling. The ceiling of the bathroom had water damage. No soap in the bathroom. I ordered soft beef tacos with a side of beans and rice. I don't know what their version of beef is, but it is not American beef, nor the authentic beef that I had while in Mexico. It didn't even taste nor look like beef. It didn't taste like pork chicken either. I had a side of white cheese for my chips, which I put over the tacos, so you will see it in the photos. When you enlarge the photos, you can see for yourself that the "meat" does not resemble beef. When asked for a check, it never came. Went to the register to get the check and both servers were eating and talking.

Authentic, fast, delicious, and very reasonably priced. Friendly service, too! Great find during our trip to BR. Total hole in the wall, but give it a try... you'll be happy you did.

This place was accommodating of our large group and had quick service. The food was pretty authentic, fresh, and very well priced. I would recommend.

Found this delightful hole in the wall on our vacation and it did not disappoint! The food was made fresh so it's not fast food and the service was friendly. We had red and green enchiladas and a burrito. Portions were huge and the food was so flavorful. Jarriitos accompanied our meal. A small market for essentials is part of the restaurant. Last stop... a campy photo outside at the couple's cutout. Would definitely return on my next visit! Great little hidden gem.

Enchiladas- ask for half and half.

It's not even big enough to be a hole in the wall, but the taste is huge! Ordered enchiladas - half mole, half green. Came with Rice and Beans. Excellent though the Mole was a bit dry. I'll ask for extra sauce next time. The beans were outstanding. My son got three Steak Tacos. You can mix and match and specify Mexican (cilantro and onions) or Tex-Mex (cheese, tomatoes, lettuce). Very reasonable pricing and extremely friendly service. I will be back.

Not only it was on my birthday in which we celebrated. But our excursion to the mountains for the long weekend was a fantastic time. As you can see through the pictures we really went all the way my dish was as abundance of seafood that you could have with an amazing cioppino sauce that was also soppable with crusty garlic bread. The beverages were on point, they have a great menu of bourbons. Will not disappoint. As a surprise they gave me a flourless chocolate Bundt cake to take home with a candle. Being with the family is always a warm unforgettable experience. There is something to be said about being surrounded by people who care and love so much. I'm in bliss. Until next time ...

For drinks, the Sweater Weather was the clear winner--well-balanced and thoughtfully crafted. The combination of Bulleit rye, La Pommiere Calvados, and sorghum created a smooth, seasonal cocktail with nice depth. The Properly Poached was decent but didn't quite impress in the same way; the Brugal Añejo, pear liqueur, dark wildflower honey, and pink salt made for an interesting profile, though it leaned a bit flat compared to the first cocktail. We started with the broiled sweet crab dip served fondue-style with pita chips, which was a great opener. It was warm, creamy, and rich, with good crab flavor that made it easy to keep going back for more. For entrées, the blackened mahi fish tacos were fresh and flavorful. The mango pico added a nice brightness, and the cilantro crema tied everything together nicely on the corn tortillas. The smash burger was another solid choice--juicy double patties with melted American cheese, crispy onion rings, house sauce, and house-made pickles that added a great tangy crunch. Service was ok waitress took a bit to bring the drinks and then the food took about 30+ minutes luckily we were entertained by talking to locals that we really weren't concerned. Overall, the restaurant delivers a pleasant upscale-casual dining experience with well-executed comfort favorites and creative cocktails. Definitely worth a visit, especially for the crab dip and the Sweater Weather cocktail and the fish tacos those were my overall favorites. Prices are mid range. Note that the restaurant as most restaurants in the Blue Ridge close early.

The gal behind the counter was very prompt and courteous and answered my questions about options on the menu. There is a big stove across the bar so you can see some of the cooking that gets done. The only issue with that is the heat...I didn't want my frosty beer glass to warm up while I enjoyed one of their local brews. I'd rather sit away from the cooking action. I ordered the crab cakes which came with coleslaw. The crab cakes had a nice sauce decorating the top of each cake. I asked for more because the crab cakes were a bit more bread filled than crab filled. I know I am spoiled with west coast Dungeness crab as you get a lot of chunks and not well flaked blue crab, but I really was hoping for more crab than I got for the money. The coleslaw was just okay. It was a nice mayo based dressing but lacked a tangy/sweet combo that I just adore. I am not impressed enough to return.

We started with the shrimp and scallop fondue, which sounded so much better than it tasted, and the toasted bread it's served with was heavily salted and not enjoyable. My friends had the ribeye and said it was mediocre. I had the shrimp biscuit and only ate a few bites. The BBQ sauce was heavily salted and not pleasant, and the cheddar cheese just seemed like it didn't belong. As a cheese lover, this is the first time in over 60 decades that I've actually removed the cheese from a dish. I took the leftovers with me since I hate wasting food and ate the biscuit with some butter and the shrimp by themselves the next day. It still wasn't very good, but at least I didn't waste it. On the plus side, the cinnamon rolls were absolute delicious and were a bargain at $8 for six! They were the highlight of our meal. We also enjoyed the creme brûlée very much. Since the restaurant is pricey and so many of the dishes were a disappointment, we all agreed that we probably won't return to give it another try. We don't want to risk spending that much money again on a not-so-great meal.
