Carne con papas, arroz moro, y tostones $6.95!
    Nicole R.

Small Latin cafes with good tasting food may seem like a no brainer to find when you're on Bergenline Avenue. I'm here to tell you that is NOT true. Bergenline Avenue it's true is made up of tons of these spots but very few offer what Las Americas Cafe has: Cheap prices, variety of food options, large food portions, and delicious authentic food! Depending on which day you go depends on what you're food options are. For the most part I think they do a good job offering at least 6 different main meals for the day. Each mean ranges from $6-8 and comes with a choice of two sides: rice, beans, fried plantains, French fries, etc. It is a cafe setting so if you're coming to sit down and eat don't be alarmed that you're service isn't 5 star worthy. This establishment is made to come in for a quick bite to eat or take out some food which was the case for me. For $6.95 I had myself a delicious meal. Carne con Papas and my two sides were Arroz Moro y Tostones. I was expecting the meal to come in one aluminum container but was shocked to see one tray for the rice and an additional tray for the meat. Saying these were large portions for the price is an understatement! The rice and meat were so fresh. The rice you could tell was from a fresh pot made that day because it was still soft and tasty and the meat was tender and not chewy and filled with flavor! Delicioso! For those nights where I don't feel like cooking after a long day at work or don't want to wait 45 minutes for a delivery Las Americas is my go to spot and should be yours too!

Horrible. My favorite dish chicken fricassee ruined. Chicken came undercooked and oozing blood. They need to thoroughly cook their meat.

The food is quite good. Their cafecito is great. Nothing on the menu really lacks. So I'll just leave it at that.

The organic chicken was executed cleanly, retaining moisture and natural flavor without drying out, which speaks to disciplined temperature control. The meal closed with a bread pudding that was rich and elevated by a caramel sauce that complemented rather than overwhelmed the dish. Flow: Service followed a structured and intentional cadence. Guests were asked to place the full order upfront, allowing the kitchen to control pacing. This resulted in smooth ticket firing and appropriate spacing between dishes, creating intervals to enjoy drinks without feeling rushed or delayed. Hospitality: Service was attentive and organized. The waiter demonstrated strong command of timing and communication, ensuring that each course arrived with purpose. Kitchen communication was clearly visible. My first visit was for my birthday a few years ago where we ordered a steak dish that was so incredibly fatty that it was inedible. We told our server and they offered to bring us out another, which was also still SO fatty. The experience left a bitter taste in our mouths but we were comped the steak and offered a $100 gift card to use on a future visit. We were in no rush to return and it took almost a year for us to visit again. On this visit I don't recall anything being bad but nothing stood out. Our third and fourth visits ended up being yesterday (Valentine's Day) for last minute brunch and dinner reservations. We were appreciative that they were able to squeeze us in last minute. We weren't too keen on a pre fixe menu, but everywhere appears to have a set menu on the holiday. I ordered the shakshuka which lacked depth of flavor and was very disappointing. Probably the worst shakshuka I've ever had unfortunately. The salad and bread that came with it were both good. My husband ordered the steak sandwich (the other 2 entrees he wanted to try were both sold out). The sandwich was very flavorful but needed to be served on a crustier bread. The skillet pancake had good flavor but was so incredibly dense and could've used more bananas. Valentine's dinner was the straw that broke the camel's back. Out of everything that was offered, the only dish worth mentioning was the lobster pasta. It was spicy, pasta cooked al dente, and a fair amount of lobster chunks. We received our salad promptly but our pasta second course came out before the seafood starter course. We brought it to our server's attention and it still took a long time to receive it. Then we had another long wait for our main course. The steak was okay, mashed potatoes were good, but the peppercorn sauce absolutely ruined the meal. There were too many peppercorns in every bite. Also the Nutella flan they offered for dessert was a far cry from a flan. It wasn't good. I would've preferred their regular desserts as an offering. Service was very lackluster. Overall, I'm very disappointed. I really wanted to love antique given that it has been voted best restaurant in Hoboken, but the service and food are both subpar.

Well, we finally had a chance to go for one of our date nights. Just hearing that this place is located in Hoboken already gave me the UGH I don't want to go. If you as a reader knows anything about Hoboken, parking is bruuuutal. It's like finding parking in NYC during prime time. Parking spots just doesn't exist. Luckily Dino and Harry's is in the beginning of Hoboken from the north side by the Lincoln tunnel. This might actually be the only positive thing about this place. The decor in the place is like any other steakhouse, wood everywhere, dim lights, and the smell of meat in the air. It seemed quite rowdy, this being majority of the time the guys at the bar flexing their money and buying shots for the girls half their age. For the table we ordered the Australian Wagyu tartare (special) , 2 ribeyes (rare and medium rare) creamed spinach, and applewood bacon Brussels sprouts. The wagyu was eh, no flavor and nothing special for the price. Ribeyes came out a little after, the medium rare came out medium so we had to send it back. They were understanding so they cooked another ribeye to medium rare. The other thing ribeye was the correct temperature. The new ribeye that came out, came out rare, luckily the first ribeye that came out rare sat out long enough that it cooked to a medium rare. Such a mess. Creamed spinach was a bit too creamy for me, but my wife likes it. Brussels sprouts were a bit oily. The only thing I thought was good was the banana bread pudding. Service was good, our server came to check on us, water glass was always filled. Would I go back to Dino and Harry's...probably not, there's other steakhouse that provide the same eh steak. If you would like to see other better steakhouses, I've reviewed some before that are also BYOB.

The broth is amazing. I loved every bite of that. Then we got the pastilla and tajine d'agneau. The pastilla is delectable. A must. It's some of the wildest flavor combinations I've ever experienced. You're eating shredded chicken mixed with cinnamon and white powdered sugar. All within phyllo dough. The tajine is fun to try, but it was just OK. It's kind of like a lamb stew. I will give kudos to a very soft and not too chewy Lamb. The prunes and apricots are such a unique flavor duo with these. Couscous is fun. This meal was a 4 for me but everything else, divine. The music was fun. They a live guitarist and sax player serenaded us. Dim lighting. Such a prime location. Lovely to walk through this neighborhood after you're stuffed.

I definitely recommend having a reservation as they were pretty busy on a Sunday morning. The Cappuccino was well-made, soothing, and gave me a much-needed caffeine kick. We got one sweet & one savory dish because that's the best way to brunch! The Steak & Eggs was surprisingly good! The hanger steak was juicy, tender, and well-seasoned. I had asked for the eggs to be soft scrambled and I felt like they were a touch overcooked but still enjoyable and paired well with the steak. The brunch potatoes could've been way crispier but I did enjoy the peppers & onions mixed it. The French Toast was fantastic. The coconut butter was a nice addition and it was the right sweetness level overall. Good try for brunch!

There was only one other family dining, and the space stayed empty the entire time. The service was genuinely great. Friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and a really cute, cozy space. I especially loved the Christmas décor and overall vibe--it felt warm and inviting. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the prices. The house salad was $13 and honestly one of the most basic, smallest, and most boring salads I've ever had--very underwhelming for the cost. We also ordered quesadillas, a cheeseburger with fries, and grilled cheese with tomato soup. My son enjoyed the burger and fries, and the quesadillas were flavorful, generously filled with chicken and veggies, and came with sour cream, pico, and guac. The tomato soup was tasty, while the grilled cheese was just okay. One small but appreciated detail: canned soda. Cold, crisp, and not flat which is always a win. Lunch for 3 came in just under $100, which felt high given what we received. One frustration was being seated in a tight corner right next to the kitchen even though the dining room was completely empty. We were so close I could literally see into the kitchen and count items on the shelves. On top of that, the hostess repeatedly walked by calling out "corner," which became distracting and honestly a bit irritating. Overall, I liked the vibe, but the food-to-price ratio missed the mark for me. It wasn't bad--just alright.
