First the place looks abandoned. You have to go through a middle looking slide door, dangerous looking to me! The to go parking was very small to enter into the front of the building,ugg. One spot, as I stayed in my car to make sure the place was open, watching people go inside. Eyes turning sideways... I walked in you have to go to the left to get takeout. There was a young guy taking the to go orders. I am like "let me look at the menu" as I felt pressured as if I should know what I wanted already and I'd never been their before. I wanted to order a half chicken meal with all white meat. Why did I say that??? The guy was like we don't do all white meat! I'm saying why NOT? He's informing me that they supposedly cut the whole chickens in a way that they don't offer that! STOP the madness. I reply if I need to pay extra that's no problem as I don't eat dark meat it's fatty! He's like no we can't. I then proceeded to ask him about the sauce that was a mystery as well. Mind you I eat Peruvian food all the time and NEVER encounter no all white meat and the confusion of the sauces. I even had to go back in. I ordered the meal and went back in to secure my salad which was said came with it and one side. This guy said I only charged you for the chicken and rice. SMH the chicken doesn't look that good. I read about Las Brasas online for small restaurants with big flavor. Big flavor indeed! It is a tiny place with curtains that divide up the restaurant. It had a very easy going vibe. We sat down and the bartender called "Hey there!" to us. He came right over with some water. He introduced himself (Rob) and asked if we had dined there before. We told him no but that we had driven over 30 minutes just to try their famous Peruvian rotisserie chicken. Rob seemed so genuine when he told us he was happy we came. He went over the menu, the WHOLE menu, with us. I was so surprised at how he could paint a picture of these dishes for us. My mouth was watering as he described the different dishes. But let me tell you, all of this paled in comparison to his love of cocktails. Rob creates different specialty cocktails every weekend, many of them with organic juices from the nearby farmers market. They were fantastic! You can definitely tell this man loves what he does. He made me a Tamarind Ginger Pisco Sour with fresh egg white. To. Die. For. Seriously, be careful because you'll want to try all his specials, and they pack a punch! Now, to the food. I had the Chaufa Pollo, a fried rice dish with that famous chicken. Amazing. It came with this sauce that tasted great. And I had so much to take home because this plate was pretty big. I also ordered a side of the lima bean salad. I could have ordered just that. But I'm glad I didn't . My bf ordered the Lomo Saltado, a stir fry of sorts. It looked and smelled amazing. He loved it! I dared not try to even steal a morsel for fear I might lose a finger! If you're skipping down to this part just for a synopsis because you're obviously hungry and searching for great food, make sure to try this place out. This was my first time trying this establishment but it definitely won't be the last. Not pictured but I also had a Sangria and the 'Calamari, Shrimp & Aji Pepper Frito' for an appetizer. Everything, and I literally mean everything was delicious and well seasoned. The yellow sauce pictured was very unique with a bit of spice, I even took a couple of the sauces to-go. Yes, it was that good. If you're ever curious and passing through downtown Decatur you should definitely stop by. Having moved from the northeast with ample Peruvian chicken options (Ie having had it for dinner at least once, if not twice a week...and my first ever Yelp review was of a Peruvian chicken spot that stole my heart), I was so excited to find this spot. Quarantine life finally led me to order take out, so this is for take out only. Whole chicken comes split. It's enough to feed two very hungry people. I've been in search of a good Peruvian restaurant in Atlanta, and I think this is the place. It's located in Decatur, not too far from the Downtown area. Parking is a little confusing, but they do have spaces in the back. When we got in, there was a lady standing by a podium, but didn't greet us whatsoever, a little odd, but another server walked over to us and seated us. Don't remember our server's name, but she was really nice and attentive. We ordered the Family Size Pollo A La Brasa, which is Peruvian Rotiserrie chicken. It came with fries and salad. We also ordered half fried chicken, papas huancaina and octopus/seafood fried rice (don't remember what it's called). Everything we ordered was delicious. the fried chicken was really crispy and the the las brasas was very flavorful. They used spices that I"m not familiar with and enjoyed it. Las Brasas was my first experience with Peruvian cuisine, and this sweet but buzzy Decatur spot left a good impression. After a short wait, we were seated at a comfortable table, and started with a classic pisco sour for me and a fizzy and refreshing pisco spritzer for her. The menu is a great entree into Peruvian cuisine, and features its famed indigenous and Japanese influences prominently. To start, we had the papa a la huicaina, a fascinating dish of starchy, cold sliced potato covered in a tangy pepper cheese sauce with quail egg and a pleasant quinoa salad. We also sampled their delicious vegetable skewers, served with a creamy and herbal huacatay sauce. I will say the service was painfully slow, but the place was overwhelmingly busy, and the server was friendly and doing their best. I'm not sure if I was just totally out of the loop on Peruvian food but the service here is impeccable! I'm pretty sure the owner talked to us and guided the server as he went through with all of our orders. That was the best and only thing that kept this from not being two or three stars. First off the portions were smaller and yes I understand we're authentic here but we are also in America and there were no refills. This might have been affected by the fact that we were extremely hungry. And I mean extremely. The food was okay the rice was very well seasoned but everybody else's food was just okay. The ambient mood and feeling of the place was also impeccable and definitely needs an Applause. Only thing that sent this back a star was the actual food and I believe also that my family that we were with mainly spoke Spanish and we assumed that someone there would speak a native language however did not. But I tell you this place definitely deserves 5 stars but that was the only let down everything else is definitely five star quality! Now you can pick and choose your demons. In Atlanta, there just aren't that many Peruvian style restaurants. Having just come back from Lima, Peru, I was craving ceviche, chicha morada.... maybe even cui! But I had come to the realization I was just not going to find that type of food around here. However, there are a handful of places that can satisfy that itch. Las Brasas is one of those places. Located in the heart of Decatur, Las Brasas takes a Peruvian favorite, roast chicken, and creates a wonderful restaurant highlighting this fan favorite. Although a lot of people come here for the chicken, there are many other awesome things on the menu that you should try out before committing yourself to this one item. Although not on the menu, chicha morada can be ordered. Just ask. They also have Inca Cola if you want a soda that is like a hybrid between a cream soda and mountain dew. Yes, they have ceviche as well. Not quite as good as what you may get at a cevicheria in Lima but again, it will satisfy that itch. One of the awesome things about Peruvian food is that it is influenced heavily by Cantonese Chinese cooking. Chaufa is one example. This Peruvian fried rice is the perfect example of how fusion should be done. They blend the deliciousness of Chinese cuisine with ingredients from Peru. Awesome! Always a good choice. Did you know that Lomo Saltado is also a play on Chinese stir fry? Of course... the french fries are added. I know I am encouraging you to try other items on the menu but the reality is, their roast chicken is probably the best thing there. It's well seasoned, delicious, juicy... everything you want in a dish like that. Get a half or whole bird. Many people take out but you can also dine in there. Also remember to save room for the Lucuma Cheesecake! Not a bad place. I am interested in going back there especially since I heard the owner will be introducing new dishes to add to the menu. Love the roasted chicken and potatoes here. I've been to Peru, and the usual cuisine there is heavy on veggies and fish, seviche--and pizza! I've been a fan of Las Brasas for many years, and I will try other dishes sometime, but right now, as I live out of town, I will sing the praises of this wonderful dish, and order it as a first go to and experiment more later. Upon entry, that space felt tight and their staff could be more welcoming and personable when greeted by first time customers who already placed orders and would just like to pick them up! Too much idle time wasting in the entrance. Standing by the bar (after being told to go there) with a bartender who's only interested in bantering with male patrons before coming over was also very rude. The food was average, and for the price it should've been much better tasting and a little more generously portioned. My pinto beans were lacking in seasoning and a little thin, it looked like soaked beans in water. I also ordered the lomo saltado and ceviche, the rice that came with the lomo was sticky and bordering on soggy (I get that condensation happens with a takeout but it was beyond that point). I could not eat it, I made my own basmati rice at home in replacement. Just like the lomo, the ceviche was just decent -- nothing to write home about, and again, overpriced for the quality. My friend who recommended the ceviche said I should've gotten the one with octopus instead, but I can't be bothered to return to try that for even more money. read more

Food is always excellent. Some of the best Peruvian chicken (fried or rotisserie) I've ever had. Service is always friendly and attentive. Love this place. Covid wise, I noticed a few servers with masks pulled down so their noses were showing. That shouldn't happen. Also, our table on the patio wasn't wiped down before we sat and that's a bit concerning. Lastly, the seating outside at the low tables is very uncomfortable--the tables are way too low, making it a bit cumbersome to eat. Las Brasas was the business when they were the little shack before they moved into the old BBQ joint spot on Commerce Drive. When they first went down to the new place they are at now, it was BUSINESS! That smell from that chicken would be in the air for MILES. The last year just has brought it down to the point I'm not a fan. Most of my Peruvian friends hate the place, because they hate how they do the Saltado (it's not traditional and because of cost cutting measures it comes out more like Chinese stir fry to them versus what they are natively used to). I love their lunch special, mostly because you can't get a sandwich from them after 3. The lunch specials were a solid eight bucks, sometimes with tax, sometimes not. Would get two. Plenty of condiments to go with the sandwich. The last two times I've went the chicken is a little drier, more heavy handed on the salt, and not juicy, the amount of sweet potato fries decreased and they taste more like freezer to the fryer, they've become stingy with the sauces (the green, red, and yellow one) and want to charge extra where now it all tastes like watery mayo, and the lunch specials have went up by two bucks PLUS the tax. And as a side not, sometimes they will honor the menu price, sometimes it will be higher - depends on who is working. Husband orders for lunch, goes to pick up and they haven't even placed his order. He spends his entire lunch hour waiting on the food. Winds up throwing it out because it tasted like eating a mouthful of salt. So weighing in, prices up trying to be "ritzy", quality down like every other food place in the square. Back to Buford Highway I go. read more

I almost hate to give this place two stars because that feels a little too low, but the description of "Meh. I've experienced better" is the correct summation. I will put a disclaimer that I have only been here one time to eat, and another time I walked out (either because they didn't have highchairs or it felt incredibly dirty...especially compared to when Burnt Fork was there). I guess since they are Peruvian Roasters they put roasted corn on the table as a little snack, kind of like another restaurant would put peanuts or bread. This is one of the worst things I've ever tasted. I had to spit it out, but it was too late and the damage was done. The after taste persisted the rest of the night. The food was ok. The style of seasoning was not my favorite, but it was good. The greasiness of all the food in general was a little too much. Las Brasas is one of my favorites! We have been for lunch, dinner and gotten takeout-- all have been fantastic. You can't go wrong with the rotisserie or fried chicken family style meals (we always add on elotes and it's perfect). Drinks are also delicious if you dine in. TLDR; food and service good, drinks bad. We came here for a late dinner on a Saturday night. We placed our order for lamb empanadas, yucca fries, Peruvian fried chicken and lomo saltado. For drinks we got sangria and the Hayworth. Our waitress informed us a little later they didn't have the empanadas that evening so instead we asked for the papa rellena. Turns out they didn't have that either so we decided to try the papa a la huancaina. That ended up being a large boiled potato with hard boiled egg slices on top, one kalamata olive chopped into a few pieces, topped with a sauce that did not really taste like anything. We did not enjoy it. The yucca fries were hot and tasty with the dipping sauce. We did like the fried chicken which was juicy and flavorful and lomo saltado which almost had an Asian touch. We were still hungry afterwards so we tried the beef heart which was pretty good. We ordered several Hayworths, and it was supposed to have tequila as well as Thai chili. Apparently it had neither because our drinks were basically sugar water with no alcohol. One round our drinks literally came out half full. There were only a few other customers while we were here, so the bartender doesn't have an excuse for consistently messing up our drinks. Overall, my first experience at Las Brasas was enjoyable. We went for dinner on Friday night and although the restaurant was packed we were seated right away. They have seating outdoors on the patio (and charming string lights) but we opted to sit inside since it was chilly. The dining room was a cheery yellow and accents of multi-colored fabric decorated the room. We were new to Peruvian cuisine so we asked our server, Tyler, for recommendations. She pointed out the dishes most-loved by customers along with her personal favorites from the menu. Here are the dishes that made our first visit a success: CHICHA MORADA: This sweet drink is made from purple corn, pineapple, cinnamon and cloves. It's a deep purple color and looked almost like melted grape Jolly Ranchers. The flavor wasn't grape though...it was like nothing I've tasted. HALF CHICKEN: Tyler recommended this roasted chicken for first-timers. The skin was papery crisp with a hint of smokiness. I don't usually eat the skin but I accidentally tasted it and the flavor and texture made it hard to resist. The meat was juicy, nicely spiced and paired well and the herby, creamy dipping sauce. ASPARAGUS: The asparagus spears were charred from the grill and still had a nice snap to them...delicious! LOMO SALTADO: The dish of beef, onions, tomatoes and fries came on a bed of rice. The meat was tender and the light sauce brought all the flavors together. FLAN QUINOA: The quinoa gave this flan a heartier texture than others I've tried. My guy loved it and polished it off in a few huge bites. CHOCOLATE CAKE: This cake was the only non-Peruvian thing we tried, as it's made at a bakery in Decatur. The sliver of dark chocolate cake had a powerful chocolate flavor and wasn't very sweet. Though I hadn't tried Peruvian before Las Brasas, I left as a member of the fan club! read more

Truly disappointed in this place. Let me start by saying the great things. The service was amazing; our server Xavier was great. He was super attentive and made sure to check in with us throughout. The ambiance was also great. The music ranged from R&B, to reggaeton, to Today's Hits, to some oldies. I went with a friend and we started off with Elote (which was the highlight of the meal), and my friend got Yucca fries that cane with a cheese sauce (those were meh). Now to the disappointment.
