First- definitely our favorite in Lubbock; great ambiance, quality food, and attentive waitstaff. The ONLY issue that we see, and continue to see over the past decade is CONSISTENCY in dishes. I always order the filet mignon, with steamed broccoli AND ask for NO BUTTER (IBS-can't tolerate well...)... well again, everything came out swimming in butter - luckily our waiter noticed and took the plate right away (without me saying anything)- came back within 60 seconds (obviously just re-plated it)- I asked about the butter and he said " everything is cooked on the flattop in butter"--- uhhhhh?? What? The steamed broccoli?? (And since I asked for broccoli INSTEAD of the truffle potatoes, I was uncharged - & unfortunately didn't eat any of the vegetables). Every time my entree is different - sometimes it's PERFECT- other times I'm leaving only eating the steak.

I would love to see an Old Fashioned on the drink menu. The wine we had was excellent, so the four star is only due to menu, not the wine. The whole wine menu looked great. Service was very good. Ambience is what you would expect at most steak houses, nothing special. The food was the highlight of the night and the reason I will be back. Thank you.

We had an incredible evening at Las Brisas. My sister and I split the 10oz filet with the truffle mashed potatoes and asparagus. The filet melted in our mouth and the flavor of the potatoes was some of my favorite. We topped the night off with the skillet apple pie & I have no words. We are not an apple pie family, but it was absolutely delicious. The ambiance in this restaurant never fails nor does the service. Tonight we had Collin as our server & he was extremely attentive, informative, and friendly!

Lobster guacamole was NOT good and gamey tasting. Do not recommend!

Went for Sunday brunch on Labor Day weekend and it wasn't too crowded. It's nice you can have some traditional brunch items plus steaks courses. The Belgian waffles and sausage were really tasty. You receive 6 small waffles with a choice of bacon or sausage. The waffles have a nice crunch to them, so you won't receive anything soft/soggy, but you can still cut them with a fork only. They didn't come with butter, only a tiny portion of syrup, so that was annoying to sit and wait for before eating. The 8 oz filet and truffle mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had - and I eat steak often. My favorite appetizer was the stuffed jalapeños; these are a must! My reason for 4 stars is because the lobster guacamole was disgusting. The lobster was gamey tasting and ruined it all. For $32, it was a waste. They were also out of their popular chicken fried steak at 12:30pm so that was a bummer as we wanted to try it. Parking is ample, and the views of the patio, waterfall, pond are nice. I would go back again for dinner and order another filet with truffle mashed potatoes!

A place that everyone will say to go, and you have to try. But, it just didn't blow anyone anyway. Good food, good atmosphere, good service. Maybe just expected to much, will try again. 8.2.

One of the best steaks I have ever had. I had the 2 5ounce filets w sauces and served oscar style. Our server Nicholas was super fun and a wine expert. We brought a bottle of our Caymus wine and drink it tableside for a small cork fee of $25. What a steal to be able to do that at a steakhouse.! This is am amazing place and a must if you like steaks !!

Staff and food was fantastic. I was just a little disappointed that the asparagus serving had gotten so small. Steak cooked 10/10, potatoes were great

The food is amazing and the employees are top notch! It is a little bit pricey but the environment and building is high end and fancy.

Might seem like a silly question, but summertime is often filled with casual situations; is there a dress code at Las Brisas?

No dress code! They have live music on the patio all summer long! You will love it!

While sitting in the Walmart parking lot researching places near where I'm staying for work in Lubbock, I came across The Funky Door Bistro Wine Room. I'm so glad I did. When I pulled up, I appreciated the ample parking and immediately noticed the unique wine‑glass door handles--such a fun touch. Inside, the décor is warm and inviting with wood accents, dim lighting, and a beautiful display of wines. The upstairs seating overlooking the main floor adds to the charm. The service was excellent from start to finish. I ordered a grapefruit mimosa and an egg‑white omelet with avocado, feta, spinach, and breakfast potatoes with caramelized onions and peppers. I was charged extra for egg whites, but it was absolutely worth it. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. From the hostess to the server, the service and timing were spot‑on. I truly enjoyed my brunch at The Funky Door. Thank you for a great experience.

It was pretty crowded which is a good sign, and they seated us fast- and the staff was super friendly- Then we ordered coffee. We didn't want alcohol in our coffee (granted they have an impressive drink menu) but we just wanted COFFEE. The coffee was weak, and not hot- and then as each pour came, it clearly got colder. I think the coffee was an afterthought and really irritated us. My daughter had the avocado toast- subpar at best. A trace amount of salmon and minimal avocado - and for $25? disappointing. Don't do an Avocado "mousse" - just do Avocado. My "breakfast platter" was satisfactory and actually reasonable at $15. My wife's French toast was listed as "croissant" ....but was NOT croissant. Maybe we hit it on a bad day. Who knows. But we left underwhelmed . The waiter did remove the coffee from our bill because we had to tell him about the cold temp- much appreciated for that . I'll try for dinner in the future - but not for breakfast/brunch.

I will give major props to the server, Mollie, and her manager for doing a phenomenal job resolving a minor issue with the order quickly, politely, and effectively. The atmosphere was fair with good music and humorous decor in the bathroom. The lights weren't for me, but others may like the statement. Where The Reserve was lacking was the food. The pepperoni pizza was pretty good, but again there are better options around town. It did taste like it had been prepared in a genuine brick oven. The tortellini was bland. The queso was good enough, but nothing to get excited about. The salsa was downright terrible. The chips were actually phenomenal. The margarita made no attempt to cover up the strong taste of tequila. The Chilton tasted like club soda and not much else. Lastly, some of the surprise fees made me feel like I was booking air travel or paying a wireless bill rather than getting a nice meal. The final charge was a few dollars more than what was shown on the ticket. I assumed this was probably due to a service charge for paying with a card, although I didn't see it with a quick glance at the receipt. In all fairness, I'm sure this was disclosed somewhere and I overlooked it. I have come to accept this as the way of the world now. Also, when we ordered the chips and queso, we were asked if we wanted salsa with it. We accepted the salsa with the assumption that it was complimentary. Granted, since we were asked, I should have assumed that there was a charge for it. The charge was reasonable, although wasted because the salsa was so terrible. I did receive approximately a 5% discount for the order mix-up, and I actually ended up with a free pizza as well. The service and attentiveness were truly exemplary. I would give this place a second chance if I were in the area, but I certainly will not go out of my way for it.
