Do not get the costillas! The sauce is gross and has a canned taste. The rice has no flavor at all. The fajitas are tasty but it's mainly veggies with some meat thrown in. Even the beer had a funny taste to it and I love beer. Save your money and go else where...maybe even Taco Bell! read more

We have been coming here for a few years, NO MORE. Love the chicken soup Since the new owners not so much. Last night we ordered to go a bowl of soup they give you rice, onion, Avocado,peppers, onion, cilantro and Lime for you to add your your self. For the 3rd time when ordering I ask for the peppers to be put in a separate container. Nope all mixed in, Chicken was not the all white meat as before, We had all the gross stuff the I would cut off before cooking. We asked for one cheese quesadilla and one chicken. I use to come here a lot and it was amazing and after tonight I will never again. I've heard that the service has gone down hill and the prices have gone way up since they switched owners and staff; and the rumors are true. The ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I've ever experienced in a restaurant. We sat for over ten minutes waiting on our drinks as servers were standing around doing nothing to only get the incorrect drinks. We asked our waitress if we could order and she gave us a look, walked away and never came back. We asked three other servers all who gave sass until we were so fed up we left and went to Esmeralda's where the service was phenomenal. I will never I come back to this restuarant. Outrageous. Rude. Las Casulas translates in english to "Best Mexican Food" in the region. There are more then one Las Casuelas in the area: Ripon, Manteca and Modesto and what makes it rank a 5 stars is family. These are family owned and operated and this pride is reflected in: service, food quality and fun. Ripon is considered my home Las Casuelas, so to reflect on their service. The parking is great, walk in the back and you are at a very casual bar with great options, and then into the main dinning area you have all booth service with a few table up front. My go to item on the menu is the "taco truck" taco's. Four of them fill you up and of course a cold beer, or soda hits the spot. The menu is huge, sometimes I think a little to big, but if you understand how they work, you can see it isn't a problem for them. Your servers could be family or just outstanding help. The lighting is very dim almost too dim at all times during the day.Seem to be overstaffed but not enough customer service to go around lots of workers hanging out. While the bartenders might be polite and ok at times they are usually just cleaning up the mess of others while trying to provide good service themselves. The one star is for the good service the bartenders occasionally give, but as far as the food goes sad to think that their chips and salsa aren't even up to par. read more

So disappointed with what I saw today. This place used to be very customer friendly. I have no complaints from the food, it is always decent. But the customer service as far as wait time or water refills or just taking your order will take you at least a half hour. Then when your food comes just hope you don't need anything extra. What I don't understand is they have several waiters around but they were seen chafing each other and playing around rather than attending to their customers needs.? I come here all the time cause we love the food & live in ripon. But the service is terrible. On Tuesday they completely forgot about my food & my friend had hers sitting out for about 20 minutes until I got mine (& I only ordered an enchilada) then yesterday when I came with my boyfriend it took about 10 minutes to get greeted, 25 minutes for food, and 10 minutes for a water refill. & of course we had to walk up to the bar & ask for the check cause they were taking so long. Eaten here before, service is ok, food is really good though. My 3 stars are due to the service. One time our server crop dusted our area... yes farted and trailed back and forth between kitchen and tables and we smelled fart for a few minutes everytime he walked by, it was gross but even more embarrassing so I didn't say anything. Another time for my Moms bday I asked to make a reservation for 10 on a Friday and they said no. Even though I told them we will be there at 6 on the dot. She told me she would have to ask the manager but he isnt in at 5pm on a Friday...one of there most busiest days... Felt like the greeter on the phone just didn't care. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years and it has always been my favorite Mexican food in the area. But just last week we came here for dinner one Thursday night and it was terrible!! First the staff all had attitude with us. When we sat down she didn't even say hi or check in on us after we got our food. The salsa and food was also not the usual amazing Mexican food we love. Went here about 2 months ago with my husband and it was soo good had a drink that was perfect and delicious fajitas ! Tonight we brought our kids here , first they messed up my sons meal and gave him something he didn't even order . Then , received my chicken quesadilla but the cheese was nowhere to be found ... and the shredded chicken was so dry I had to drown it In their table salsa! What made me more upset is that I ordered a margarita on the rocks , and let me tell you I'm a light drinker .... what I got had no trace of alcohol whatsoever ! Paid $8 for a glass of juice ! I used to come here all the time, but about a year or so ago, the restaurant was sold to apparently the worst owners ever. I will never come here again. The new owner fired the old amazing staff, hired new rude staff, and totally changed things up. Food is bad and the service is terrible. Go to Ede's Taco Shop right down the road, it's owned by the staff that used to work at Las Casuelas before they got kicked out. The food is decent, the service is good except for the owners daughter. She is a brat that knows nothing about customer service. She is even rude to the employees. She obviously shouldn't be in the restaurant business and definitely shouldn't be around customers. The $1.50 margaritas on Tuesdays and Thursdays use to be good but someone had the bright idea of becoming cheap and not adding Triple Sec to the margaritas which is a known ingredient. I'm sure that saves them a nickel on each margarita. Being cheap isn't a way to make your customers happy. read more

I went to Las Casuelas for the last time last night. When the new owners took over the service and food became horrible. Last night we all ordered drinks. The waitress came back twice to ask me what kind of margarita I wanted and still ended up bringing the incorrect drink. Twenty minutes went by and my fiancé asked if we can order she just looked at him and walked away. Another ten minutes go by and I get up to go to the front to ask if we can order. The server just says okay. Another ten minutes later, another server walks by and I ask to order. She rudely says to me "look I already told your waiter" and she walked off. That was the end of that. If I could put zero stars I would. When were first arrived we sat for about 10 mins before anyone showed up to greet us and take our drink order. Wanted to order the Henny horchata drink but they were out of horchata, ok no biggie. Once we did that we sat for another 10 mins , they came back we ordered our entrees. When food arrived it was cold and one of the orders was completely wrong. Miscommunications, ok lets fix it. The server Javier was either legit not comprehending what we were saying or he was being a complete asshole. We had to explain what we wanted MULTIPLE TIMES after getting the wrong food twice. They came back a third, still wrong so we said forget it. Asked for the check so we could go. I asked to speak with the manager Efren and the first thing he said to me was "what's wrong with you?" I said excuse me? He corrected himself by saying what's the problem. I proceeded to explain to him and asked can you not do what we're asking for or what? He kept going back and forth between maybe it's possible and no. (A super shrimp burrito add fajita veggies) he was completely rude and refuse to take off the second wrong order so I asked for a box to take it since we were paying for it. My grandparents eat at this restaurant almost daily and they are treated like gold here. The staff always goes out of their way to give great service to their loyal customers. As a family we love to go there because they serve some of the best Mexican food around, and are always so friendly. Honestly the food is good but the service is horrible. Been here many times but they changed owners a while ago since then there customer service went down hill bad. They didn't want to uphold their drink specials on margaritas. They didn't put salt on them even though we asked for them with it. There was no lime on margarita. Had to ask for silverware which we didn't get we waited a min then grabbed from another table. They messed up on our food order and brought the wrong item. This experience sucked I don't plan on ever going back. On a separate visit my friends wanted to go about two weeks ago and I ordered a Don Julio blanco margarita on the rocks with salt. And one of my friends decided that he would like that as well so he said he would have the same. The server came back a couple minutes later and was like that margarita is 10$ is that ok like we couldn't pay or something. I don't know about you but if someone orders as specific of a drink you would think they are fully aware of the price of a higher shelf tequila. It was very rude. read more
