Worse service I have ever experienced!!!! The food we ordered was not cooked thoroughly so we asked our waitress to make a correction or suggestion so the we could get a good meal. The waitress pretended she did not understand English so we asked for the manager. After 3 different employees other waiters and waitress come to our table they said that we had to leave our table and go to the bar to speak with the manager. We were a party of 4 so the others ate and completed their meal and we waited at least an hour for someone to correct this uncooked meal and no one was interested in providing just decent customer service . We asked for our checks and they had the audacity to bring us a bill for a plate that had been sitting there for over an hour with only two or three bites from the sandwich and the worse was we had to go to the bar and the manager was sitting in a chair with head leaning back resting against the wall with nothing to do but look up at the ceiling. When we brought the nearly full sandwich plate and attempted to explain our dissatisfaction with the uncooked meat she than argued with us putting her hand all in and over the sandwich and then demanded that we pay because this is how they make this sandwich. Really!!! We than walked away and said you can eat it if this is the way you make!!! Awful way to treat a customer. I was a regular customer for awhile now but NEVER will I ever return or recommend this establishment to anyone. Guac was fresh and beautifully balanced flavor wise, chips arrived just fried, and margaritas are made with squeezed limes, no sour mix here (though I went for a Dos Equis). We had the tortilla soup - tortilla strips and shredded chicken, topped with cheese and avocado, tomato and chipotle flavored. The tortilla strips were added at last moment, so still nicely crunchy, surprisingly the chicken had a lot of flavor, maybe brought out by the smokey chipotle pepper floating in the soup. We also had a torta (toasted hoagie) with sliced baked pork leg and with thinly sliced onion, jalapeno peppers, tomatoes, avocado and a thin layer of sour cream and refried beans. I am emphasizing the thinly sliced aspect because it upgrades the sandwich. Some rather respected, more upscale Memphis restaurants slice their condiments so thick, you can only eat one ingredient at a time (i.e. pita with a chunk of beet, pita with a chunk of onion, but never pita with a slice of onion and beet). This torta's ingredients were thinly sliced and layered, so it all came together nicely in one bite. You might have to wait during lunch and dinner hours. In the evening, it will be a bit noisy from the margarita tipsy customers, otherwise happy college kids, and families with tired and/or playing toddlers - not sure I have seen such a range of people in one place at once. We decided to go to Las Delicias with recomendations of other people and with the comments on Yelp. That was the best moment on a restaurant ever with the best mexican food I ever eat. The chips are delicious. We took chicken burrotis which was amazing and chorizo enchiladas. The chorizo was so good. Our order was served really quickly (less than 10 minutes) and the price so low, it is less than $10 per person. The server was really friendly and kind. I have heard more Memphis folks talk about Las Delicias in the past few months than the the rest of the Memphis Mexican fare put together. I can't believe I have waited so long. Price, service, and flavor come together here to make this place almost perfect. It's impossible to stop nibbling the complimentary salsa and chips - that is, until the guacamole arrives. Best guacamole in Memphis, hands down. The menu is sort of a la carte, which I like. We were able to sample 3 of the 6 different tacos, a burrito, quesadilas, and both types of tamales. I am not sure you could go wrong with any choice on the menu, but I sampled enough to know that my favorite items contain Pastor (marinated pork) or Chorizo (Mexican Sausage). The food and beer prices were very reasonable. The restaurant was clean and tidy. The service was lightning fast. And the food was incredibly tasty. I will definitely be back. For some reason, I didn't feel comfortable taking pictures of my entree's, but everything looked good too. Everything on the menu is available for take out, and that's especially nice because Las Delicias is between Katy's office and our house. read more

When I go to Mexican restaurants I typically order something other than standard fare (tacos, burritos, etc). However at this place they dont have a lot of other choices. I went with the steak burrito and it was so good!! They also have good cheese dip. The margaritas are also tasty. One of the best things they have are their chips and their guacamole. The staff are not always the most attentive, and some of the chairs are sometimes a little crumby, but the food is AMAZING. Their food is incredibly cheap but the portions are large. My husband and I frequently eat here for $15 or less, even if I splurge and get the $10 dishes like the enchiladas poblanas (their mole sauce is very good) or the alambres mixtas (without cheese, personally, but make sure you get the red and green sauces to put on it). Their margaritas are pricey but can really pack a wallop. I prefer them half-and-half, which comes half rocks and half frozen. Their tacos are delicious, and the Cuban torta is a really good and filling sandwich. All in all, if they have it, I'll eat it! The food is consistently great. read more

I've been hitting the Mexican food pretty hard lately. Anyway, I was starting to feel like I wasn't good at Yelp since I hadn't been here yet, so the fiancee and I went over the weekend. It took us a few minutes to be seated, so I had a beer and she had a strong frozen margarita while we were waiting. When we finally got a table, I was chomping at the bit for some of the chips I've read so much about. All I have to say is that we had eaten almost the whole basket plain before our queso even came out. I can't remember the last time I've eaten chips plain. And, just to keep the fattest Fat Guy Friday ever rolling, I ordered both a chorizo quesadilla and a chicken burrito. I figured that since they were around $4 a piece that they were pretty small. Wrong. They weren't massive by any means, but either on its own would have been sufficient. The chorizo was just spicy enough, and the burrito was juicy and flavorful. Tack on the rest of the delicious chicken tamale that she couldn't finish and I had to be rolled out with a hand truck. Delicious, delicious, delicious. And, on top of that, I thought our waitress made a mistake because our bill only came out to around $25. We had so much food. So, why four stars instead of five? I'm going to try again on a weekday and update my review, but on the Friday night that we went, the place was packed and, consequently, the service was pretty slow (albeit cheerful and friendly). I understand that and wouldn't normally dock a star for it, but the crowd wasn't being managed very well. Children were running around screaming, everyone was talking loudly to be heard over the din, and the floor was an absolute mess. I understand the hesitance to tell a family to leash their kid up, but it gave me a headache. I never thought I'd step onto Park and relish the relative silence of car horns and trucks passing by. Definitely worth trying - I just wouldn't recommend going on a Friday night. Like I said, I'll try again on a weeknight or for lunch on a weekend, and I fully expect to be updating my review to five stars. read more

This place was not what I expected. People raved about the guacamole that is nice and chunky, and it was. The menu was very small, compared to most Mexican restaurants. I had a steak burrito and my girlfriend had a chicken quesadilla. The chicken quesadilla was just chunks of chicken inside a tortilla, and shredded cheese was sprinkled over the chicken. It might have been microwaved. There was no seasoning or anything to make it flavorful or taste of anything. My burrito was the same way. Nothing was authentic here, nothing special. Yes, they make their own chips, but that's about all they have going for them. Los Comales in Memphis is a much better place to eat- authentic and delicious, with a much better menu. I've been to the other location near mendelhall and lamar and the food and service is WAY better than here. The beans were extremely salty, the food was not that great and the guacamole was not fresh by any means. .. so disappointed. Another thing, they really need to ask the person if they want onion and cilantro in their food when taking orders, that is the polite way to do it, instead on goint thru my kids chicken to get it all off. The service was non existence, I had to go back to the kitchen to ask the three ladies that saw us come in and went back there to chat. After the food got to the table the waitress left before being able to ask her for any silverware so I had to go back to the kitchen to ask again the gossipy ladies to give me some. Their English don't look that good either because I had to order for everyone in my table in Spanish because the waitress just did not say any word in English and referred to me for the order. I've only been here twice and both times, the food was not impressive. So far I have tried the steak quesadilla and steak torta. The meat is always dry, does not really have any flavor. The rice is good but I don't consider this place to be an authentic mexican restaurant, it tastes more tex-mex to me. Also the waitress is inattentive. It probably has the worst atmosphere of any restaurant in town as its way too bright and very poorly decorated (feels like a low rent cafeteria). If you are stuck eating here, they have had a decent bowl of sopa pollo but even that was not very good last trip, so.... The Margaritas were so sour they really weren't drinkable. (I have had good ones here once). Crap food, shitty service, bad atmosphere and bad drinks, 4 stars? It boggles my mind people think this is a great restaurant when there are so many better options available. read more
