The restuarant was nothing fancy but it was really busy when I came around dinner time. I sat at the bar and ordered the pastor torta and double margarita. The meal came with complimentary chips and salsa. Chips and Salsa: Great! The chips were crunchy and thicker than the chips I'm used to. I doubted the salsa at 1st because it was really thick. I thought it would have ketchup or something in there but it didn't! It was very flavorful and tasty! Margarita: The bartender did a great job mixing this margarita. It was refreshing and strong. Don't let the almost lemonade like taste fool you, drink slow. Pastor Torta: I don't usually like sour cream but I ordered everything on the sandwhich to give it a chance and I'm glad I did! All the flavors were great together and the pork was perfectly seasoned. I also loved the bread! It was toasted to perfection. Service: The service was pretty good. Dear LORD! Las Delicias is the bomb. No ifs ands or buts about it. This just might be, dare I say it, the best Mexican food I have ever had the pleasure of eating. I first became familiar with their tortilla chips. I shop at Super-lo quite a bit, and they always have their tortilla chips on an end cap near the milk. I tried them once, and my husband and I were hooked. When I picked up a bag the other day, the cashier looked at me and said "OMG These are the best chips ever! Have you been to their restaurant?" What's this little tidbit of phenomenal news? They have a restaurant? Here? In Memphis ? GET OUT! I immediately got the address, and sent my husband a text at work letting him know we would be dining there the next afternoon. The chips are just the beginning folks, albeit a phenomenal beginning. We ordered the guacamole and pico de gallo for appetizers. This guacamole was so freaking fresh couldn't get over it. I could have eaten it with a spoon. Huge chunks of ripe, fresh avocado and tomatoes, onions and cilantro (not a lot though cuz I loathe cilantro) all decked out with the most amazing combo of lime juice for seasoning. Mmmmm guacamole is a gift from the gods. The pico was nothing short of amazing either. We were so anticipating the arrival of our meals- my husband chose the chorizo and cheese quesadilla and I opted for the enchiladas tomatillos. I love enchiladas. In fact, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I am a enchilada connoisseur. I love them dearly, and would eat them everyday if I had the opportunity. These did not disappoint. The chicken was fresh, juicy, not at all dry and paired so wonderfully with the corn tortilla shells, cheese and somewhat spicy tomatillo sauce. It was amazing. My husband's chorizo quesadilla was so jam packed, that every time he took a bite, it fell out onto the plate. He claims it to be some of the best chorizo he's ever eaten. I thought it was quite tasty in the way of chorizo as well. I will be coming back to Las quite a bit. In fact, I cannot get there again soon enough. Is it Tuesday? okay Las Delicias time! Are you wearing green? Okay Las Delicias time! Did you just look at me sideways? You betcha! Las Delicias here we come! Five stars for the guacamole. Four stars overall. The guacamole brings it up a notch. This is a tasty Mexican restaurant with some out of this world guacamole and homemade chips. This guacamole is so good, a crew of Las Delicias personnel show up at 6am at the downtown Farmer's Market on Saturdays to sell the stuff for $7 a tub and they are always selling it like hot cakes. Big chunks of avocado. Freshly made. Best in town. Note: if there is better, tell me. I want to eat it. The food though is just OK. The tortas are sorta plain if you catch my drift. The rice is dry. The tacos are good, but not grand. The service can be on the slow side. The margaritas are better than average. Parking can be a problem. Better come before 530 on Friday night or be prepared to wait ... for awhile. Add this all up, and you wind up with 4 stars. Did I mention the guacamole was good? One positive note is my two kids usually make my table area look like a war zone, and they have never thrown me out the front door for them doing so. So that is a great plus for anyone with kids. Stopped in around 3pm on a Saturday and the place was surprisingly relatively busy, which of course is a good sign. We were seated quickly and immediately dug into the chips and fresh salsa. Salsa was delicious but on the mild side so ask for additional hot sauce (chipotle and a jalapeno sauce) if you like it spicy. Menu is simple but has all the staples. I ordered a chorizo taco and the husband ordered the chorizo quesadilla. And because it was the weekend I ordered a regular margarita on the rocks :) Marg was perfect with the chips and salsa. Food came out quickly. My taco was piled high with chorizo and was devoured in less than 5 bites. The quesadilla was also good with the right ratio of melty cheese and chorizo. We waited another 10-15 minutes before they took our food order. Then waited who knows how long before the food came. I too had to go looking for our server. I was just about to literally walk into the kitchen to find someone to assist me before she came running past me with her tray. Ridiculous. And then the food tastes like trash. I ordered two steak tacos. The steak tastes like rubber cardboard and the tortilla tastes like paper. And there was no appreciation by the staff of our wait or the poor quality of the food. For a Mexican restaurant I wasn't really impressed. I've been recommended by several random people to try this place, but it didn't quite hit the spot for me. It was just ok. The chicken burrito was good but I've had better flavor and seasonings on burritos. And it was with chopped meat and I like shredded chicken better. The chorizo tacos were so tiny I thought I was at a tapas bar and the margaritas were sub par. Although I love the fact that we got a generous pitcher for about 20 bucks yet the buzz was faint. The ambiance was like a big noisy banquet hall. No privacy and constant motion passing by the tables. Supposedly authentic, but with no authentic layout. I just wasn't feeling it. Watch pricing!!!! We have been going to las delicious for the fantastic food & pricing for yrs. Just recently they've upped pricing from sides of cheese dip $5 to almost $15 without pricing ahead of time or on website. When asked why order was so much higher than before "we increased our prices on fajitas, you should have looked on website". Ugh, wrong....cheese dip & pico went significantly higher w fajitas going up by a dollar. When calling back, again told to look at website, which was still incorrect, passed along to manager & was told "ok" to losing customers. I completely understand the need to raise costs, but do it gradually & without insulting your customers. It's a shame as we would eat there once a week & birthdays, but again to quote the manager, hes "ok" to losing lost long time customers, what a shame read more

My favorite, the MexiGuac was just blah as opposed to the once unparalleled excellence in flavor and freshness. Many dirty tables, food all over the floor and service which bordered on rude. It's a popular spot full of college students, families, and friends. The location is able to accommodate small and large parties. The service is ok. It's obvious the staff is busy and working hard. BUT a smile goes a long way. There is no set uniform. Our waitress was wearing sweatpants... The food was good. A bit bland, but the best part of it all was the guacamole - chunky and delicious. We really enjoyed our dinner at Las Delicias and are excited to have found a go to Mexican place! I could have made a meal out of the homemade chips, salsa, guacamole and cheese dip - those were all amazing! We also had a steak quesadilla, flautas and margaritas, all of which were great. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because the restaurant lacks any atmosphere and it felt very dirty. My sister loves this place, so I had to try it out. We ordered the guacamole and cheese dip appetizers, and they were both equally delicious. The guacamole was my favorite of the two; it was seasoned nicely, and I like being able to mash the guacamole myself. The cheese dip was great as well - I definitely recommend as well. Also, love the chips! I ordered a Pastor and Steak soft taco as well; the Pastor was my favorite. I loved the crispy pieces of pork and the overall flavor of the pork. So tasty! The steak wasn't my favorite of the two; I thought some sauce would have been nice. The price is amazing... Only $2 a taco! The service was fair; we went in during a busy dinner service, so I guess it was expected. Our server wasn't the quickest - it seemed like we waited longer for him to bring a box or our check than it took for use to eat. Overall, I definitely will return. Who would eat Mexican in a city that is known for their BBQ? We would! We love Mexican food and weren't disappointed at all in Las Delicias. We had dinner there on a Monday night and they were quite busy with families and large parties. We started with the guacamole - which is very unique compared to other places. It has all the ingredients of typical guacamole, but it's not mushed together. The avocados were chopped up - which allowed us to scoop it on the fabulous chips. Yes - they are as good as everyone says, and they have several different salsas for you to try. I had the chicken quesadilla and my husband had a chorizo burrito. He really enjoyed the chorizo burrito because unlike many places who cook chorizo, this burrito wasn't swimming in grease. The quesadilla was good, but I ended up getting full on the chips and salsa! We tried their house margarita and it was good. Gave a little buzz but not too much. If you're in the area and want to try something different than the usual BBQ, I would give Las Delicias a try...especially given the low prices. read more
