This location does a good job, especially considering it has to compete with two other restaurants on the same street. The staff here tends to be less friendly than the locations on Walzem and Austin Highway, as well as the location that closed near the highway toward Fredericksburg. The customer service is not always the warmest, but the food and value make up for it. I would still return because the prices are hard to beat. read more

We've always enjoyed Las Palapas, we know we're going to get a good meal ... until today, for me. I ordered chicken fajitas, with veggies instead of rice and beans and a side of sour cream. This was the most disappointing fajitas I've ever had. The chicken tasted boiled with no seasoning, there were no peppers, just onions, and the veggies weee diced so small and barely any flavor. Came with a tiny dollop of guacamole. I wasn't impressed at all. The service was good, it always is and we've never had to wait for a seat, which is nice. There are TVs hung around so you have something to watch but unfortunately it was depressing news on, maybe consider something more entertaining? Although Friday evening dinner was busy, we managed to grab a table without a wait! Parking lot was overfilled, but overflowed into the Jiffy Lube parking lot next door that was closed. Jaime, our server, was A+- kind, friendly, answered questions, and checked on us frequently. The complimentary chips are always so good and addicting, especially the green salsa! Must ask for it. We ordered : The 3 taco plate with grilled fish- beautiful presentation. Appreciated the generous slices of avocado. Unfortunately the grilled fish lacked flavor and was dry. There were some chewy pieces, but the chipotle sauce was good. I did have to douse the tacos with additional green salsa for flavor. I subbed the rice for vegetables, didn't realize it was an additional $1.50. The huge chicken burrito was delicious. But, hubby noted there were some fishy tastes towards the last bites. We went there at about 4 40 pm yesterday to enjoy the nice weather on the patio. The restaurant was very clean inside and out and the staff was very respectful and kind. Our server was named Pepe and he was very personable. The meal came with free chips and salsa. They were just okay, not very flavorful. The appetizer we chose was the Sopes plate. I had never tried these delicious tapas before but was blown away by their amazing texture and flavor! They had beans, guac, meat and a perfect base. I got the LP soup plate that came with a bowl of chicken soup and a flauta. The best part of the dish was the refried beans with melted cheese, it came with flour tortillas to make it into a bean and cheese taco. The flauta was not too flavorful but with sour cream and guac was okay. It was pretty big! As for the soup, I've gotten it at other las palapas and this time the flavor fell flat. That being said the rest of my family enjoyed their entrees. Now for the best part: the Sopapillas! These took a little while to come out but it was worth the wait! Soft, warm, fluffy, sweet and oh my the honey drizzle was the perfect touch! For only 3.99 you have to get these! Overall we left full and happy for the price! You can feed a family of 5, plus get an app and a few soft drinks for around 100 before tip which is great in my book! However all the food took quite long to come out. My family and I frequent this location at least twice a week, sometimes even for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Unfortunately, tonight's experience was extremely disappointing. I ordered four crispy tacos with everything on the side so they wouldn't get soggy by the time I got home. For nearly $4 per taco, I expected better quality and care in preparation. Instead, I received broken shells, small 4oz cups of lettuce, tomato, and cheese, no hot sauce included, and barely enough chicken to make two tacos. When I called to address the issue, the manager Jamie was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Rather than apologizing or offering to make things right, he only offered to replace two tacos and acted as if I was inconveniencing him. For someone in leadership to speak to a loyal customer this way is unacceptable. I was giving him the opportunity to make it right, but his lack of professionalism and compassion showed how poorly trained he is in handling customer concerns. Because of this, I drove 20 minutes back to the store to return the food and get my money back. This location not only seems to nickel and dime its customers, but also demonstrates a serious lack of customer service and accountability. After years of being a loyal guest, my family and I will no longer be visiting this location. I hope upper management reviews this situation carefully and provides proper coaching to ensure future guests are treated with the respect and courtesy they deserve. read more

Las Palapas off Potranco in the far westside has certainly met my expectation. My wife and I decided to dine here on a busy Friday evening and we were quickly seated. The atmosphere is very open, bright with Mexican theme concept and the air was a bit on the cool side otherwise it was very spacious! The service was great, our waiter made sure our needs were met and had excellent suggestions! We ordered the Dosarita, frozen perfect blend of tequila and Margarita mix with an upside down Dos XX was a great way to kick off the weekend! For the entrees, my wife ordered the Enchiladas con Creme plate, rich and creamy sauce topped on rolled soft chicken filled corn tortilla was great in every bite! I ordered the crispy chicken tacos, the chicken is packed with flavor like they marinate it while cooking it and inside a crispy taco shell, it was really good, as for the beans and rice were the cooked well with the perfect amount of seasoning. Came in on a Saturday morning, by the looks of the parking lot we could tell it was a busy morning. Finding parking was not an issue and neither was finding a place to seat. Martha greeted us at the bar, took our order and made us a couple of tasty drinks :) This Palapas is different from the others I've been to, it's super cozy with beautiful indoor and outdoor seating. Everyone is very nice and attentive, they know when something is not going as smooth. At some point a very nice lady came out from the kitchen and apologized for how long our food was taking, I didn't even notice lol! We love Las Palapas and so so glad this one opened up so close to home. It's very nice and has a bar in the front of the restaurant unlike many other locations. It kinda gives the feel of a bar and grill. This is my second visit here, and I got the roll back special today. It was huevoes rancheros for $3.99. What a steal! It was delicious and very filling. My mom and daughter got the half stuffed veggie avocado with soup. They both enjoyed their food, too. Service wasn't the best today, but I figure it was because it was lunchtime. We went to the new Las Palapas on Potranco. The wait (during peak dinner hour) was only about a ten minute wait. The service from our waiter was excellent. We got complimentary chips and salsa that was so fresh and the chips were so crunchy and complimented by the salsa. The food was attractive, temperature appropriate, as delicious. I recently went to a *different* Las Palapas down the street and the amount of food I got for the price was huge letdown. Almost like, they ran out meat and just tried to sprinkle it in. Edible, so I did not complain - but did make a mental note. Today I came to this new location outside 1604 on Potranco and as has been my experience consistently, I got an amazing meal (tasty to the Las Palapas expectation) and for a good price. I didn't feel like they only partially filled my plate like the other location. I realized this has been the case nearly every time I come to this location (because to expect this 100% of the time is unrealistic imo). So I'm writing this review because as a society we need be more mindful of rewarding good behavior (in this case - great overall service and food). Thanks to the team on today's lunch hour! This restaurant is the newest and fifth location for the locally owned San Antonio restaurants. The restaurant is very popular and our visit was no exception. My husband is physically disabled, and it was very disappointing that while there were only TWO handicapped parking spaces, there were four curbside spaces. Two handicapped spaces in a crowded parking lot are definitely not enough. Our time from check in to table was 32 minutes, which isn't bad for any restaurant on a Friday night. We ordered chips and queso as an appetizer, alas, the waiter forgot our order and we had to remind him about them and got them with our meal. We added flour tortillas, which were cold and chewy. My husband ordered the beef enchiladas and was pleased with his meal. It's tough to mess up enchiladas. I ordered the al carbon salad, which was a tasty combination of chicken and beef fajita meat, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, charro beans and queso Fresca. I started out with a top shelf margarita, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was disappointed when I ordered the "creamsicle" margarita, only to discover they did not have any Orange Crush, and offered pineapple instead. That is not a creamsicle, and I declined. I have been visiting Las Palapas at the intersection of Hwy 151 and Potranco since 2017, making the 20-25 minute drive from Hwy 211 & Potranco. The drive is always worth it because of our favorite waitress, Michelle. She always greets us with a warm smile and knows our order by heart, making us feel like family every time we walk in. Recently, Michell, along with another wonderful waitress, Alejandra, moved to the new Las Palapas location at Potranco and 1604. Naturally, we followed them not only because this location is closer to our work, but also because these two incredible waitresses make each visit a delight. This place made me so sick and this was the first and last time we will be going here. I ordered breakfast and it did not sit well with me and started vomiting that night. I was sick the whole weekend. The food looked way better in the slide show upon waiting for a table, that's for sure! I do not recommend this place for families, it was pretty loud with a bar.
