Good food for a good price. The flaw of the big burrito is often a sacrifice in quality ingredients, not the case here. You get a meal for two in a single burrito and the meat is full of flavor, salsa has good balance of heat and flavor along with quality vegetables if you choose. read more

Went to Las Palmas after a long hiatus and to my surprise the shrimp nachos wasn't edible, I threw them in the garbage. I am not a fan of eating the poop tract! You ask for catfish they give you Basa, you call to tell them and they scream on the phone like you don't know you got the wrong fish. You meet the owner, he is wonderful and your order is great the day you order when he is there. Next time you come and he's not there you order Catfish you're getting Basa. And it's not an accident. Burritos at huge, fish is good when you get the correct kind. They do this often switching the fish and dismiss you upon calling back or returning. Take videos of your fish, tell the owner. I first started coming here in 1998 for the fried fish. I remember driving all the way from Richmond with my god sister to try this place because so many raves about their fish. The fish was great. However, there was always a wait. Over the years I started trying other items on the menu. Their super burritos are enormous, tacos like a baby burrito, enchilada platter can be shared among two and the hush puppies pretty tasty. The taco salad became my favorite and go to. Today since my son and I were passing through and needed a bite as we had a few places to go we stopped in to place an order. He ordered a super ground beef burrito and he said the meat tasted off. My chicken enchiladas look nothing like my previous photo and visit. Everything about it tasted different. The enchilada sauce wasn't the bright red, the green salsa tasted different, the beans were bland. Hours later the food isn't sitting well on my stomach. I feel horrible and didn't eat one complete enchilada. I've had to take an antacid and could use a Ginger Ale. I'm wondering if ownership changed. I did not see the older woman of brown accustomed to seeing when I'd stop in to order. The restaurant no longer has tables to dine in. Which is fine with me. Due to location it's not somewhere I'd sit down to eat. It seems since Covid many restaurateurs have lost their zest for cooking quality food. Regretfully, this was money down the drain. read more

I purchased a steak burrito on September 16th and it was HORRIBLE!!! It was very salty, and I complained about it to the staff this morning...very nasty attitude! He said that there was nothing that he could do, on top of that... I spent a lot of money there. The guy is always rude, but I've looked past that. When a regular customer ( or anyone ) complains about food there, they shouldn't have to deal with such a terrible experience. They accept your money and that's it .. take it or leave it attitude. This is the place to go if you are hungry!! They give you so much food for your money. All the years that I have been coming to this place, they have never messed up my orders. My boys love the super steak burritos, I like the oyster & prawns combo with those delicious oysters. The French fries are good too. The only bad thing about this place is it is hard to find parking. It's best to bring somebody with you so one person can order & wait for the food, while the other looks for parking. The prices are comparable to other places. read more

The portions are absolutely huuuge! I have never seen a burrito so massive. I was upset at my total at first until I saw what I received, I can't complain. My burrito lasts me for 2 days. There was no way I could eat it in one sitting. My cousin told me about this place so I took her to get the Cheese Steak and Shrimp Fries which she absolutely loved and smacked on for 2 days as well. He,s rude, will try to cheat you out of your change and give you something different than you ordered, especially when ordering seafood. I'm taking everything into account here. It is huge though and worth 2 servings or you can share but $18 for steak and shrimp fries is a few dollars too high for me. Any native of the East Bay, has been to at least one of the Las Palmas locations (the one near Mac Arthur BART, and this location off of Fruitvale). The first thing is that the prices have gone waaaay up. Steak and shrimp fries easily cost clost to $20. I guess I am finally at that age where I am now saying "I remember when this use to cost..." The second thing you MUST be aware of, is the lack of parking. It is right on Fruitvale, so parking can be super tight. Lastly, the food quality. It was "meh" at best. I just tasted like warm food product in my mouth. All in all, I will not be back to THIS location. I will just go to the one off of Mac Arthur. read more

Portions are huge here and the price reflects that. I've had the burrito here before and it was aright. It's like the size of a mini baby and will put you to sleep after. My recent visit, I had the steak taco at $4.95 and it's like a mini burrito. There's so many toppings on the top with all the steak on the bottom. It's kinda messy to hold and eat but it's worth the price. Flavor wise it's aright. Service is ok as you gotta order at the window and pick up at the door on the right. Okay so first and foremost: EARLY THE SEAFOOD HERE! It is delicious. I got the surf and turf shrimp and carne asada. It was pretty good, the shrimp were nice and juicy and full of flavor. So I was a happy girl. Then I tried their carne asada fries: The carne asada is not good, pretty plain and cut up too small. Therefore the burrito didn't benefit from it. Fries are too big, they get soggy with all the toppings and just not good. Didn't take pictures but if you want a heavy platter of fries and cheese + toppings, the portion was ridiculous, but me and my three friends hardly touched it. The burrito is nice and big and worth the $16.99 I wish I got the fish and chips instead of carne asada fries, stick to the seafood. I hear their fried fish and shrimp are really good. read more
