Las Tortas is awesome and my favorite spot for a torta. First off, their menu is huge!!! So many delicious options. My go to is the nortena, it my second fav is carnitas. Can never go wrong with carnitas anything!! And their French fries are a perfect compliment to the sandwich. Every time I've been there it is crazy busy. But the line moves fast and they get the food out quickly. We usually get our tortas to go because sometimes it's hard to find a seat. One star deduction for the noise level. Love at first bite. Only have had the nortena torta (beef, cheese, onions, avocado, and the rest of the toppings) so far and was blown away by the flavors - first to last. Finally got the chance to try Las Tortas and it didn't disappoint. Wake up late on a Sunday and decided to skip breakfast and go straight for a hearty lunch (I wanted an excuse to try the steak sandwich in Las Tortas). The hype surrounding this place did not disappoint. The place has some parking spaces around it and it's very humble place but the food is magic. Once upon a time in Mexico I was visiting different distilleries in the town of Tequila. Now after a couple tastings of Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo, there was a grave need of fulfilling our munchies. This is a sandwich shop and does not have typical Mexican food. The ingredients were good and seemed fresh and were cooked right. The food is a la cart. The only side I noticed was fries. They had a few desserts in cups. One of us had the Tejana which came with beef and pork. The meat was cooked perfectly. When you took a bite, the meat was tender and you didn't have to fight with it. The torts was substantial enough to fill a big appetite. The other of us had the quesadilla deluxe with chicken and added avocado. It was a large tortilla folded in half. It was stuffed with the chicken and cheese, which made it pretty filling. The seating area is fairly small. I recommend you give them a try. read more

After I landed at the Denver airport, this was my first place I drove to for lunch. It was only 11am so it was a little early and when I walked in, there was not a single customer. Therefore, I ordered the Nortena which was steak, avocados, cheese, and tomatoes. They said it was going to take 10-15 minutes so I walked outside and just hung out for a bit getting some fresh air and by the time I came back in, it was 100% packed with a huge line. Shows how popular it is just by the lunch crowd alone. Luckily, my meal was ready and I wanted to make sure I ate it fresh so I just got back to my rental car and gobbled this torta down. By far the best torta I have ever had in my life. If I ever visit Colorado again, I will make sure to hit this place up. It was $10 spent very well. Oh heavenly torta, where have you been all my life?! I've passed by Las Tortas for about four years and have had it bookmarked for almost that long. I've driven by and thought "One of these days I'm gonna pop in" but it never happened until yesterday. My friend and I wanted to grab a quick bite and she is pretty adventurous and trusting of my recommendations so we stopped by for lunch. It was noon and only one table was open so that was a positive sign that we chose right. You walk up to the counter, order then they call out your number. Even though I grew up in South Florida and took four years of spanish, I'm still not too confident of my spanish tongue so I tried to stick with a sandwich name that I could say without sounding like too much of a gringa, Lorena Herrera, you're easy to say so why not? Lorena kicks ass, thats it. The torta was absolutely delicious, packed with meat, cheese, tomato, avocado and onion. I added a little hot sauce and pickled jalapeños and those took it to a whole other level. I ate the whole thing, loved it and kinda wanted seconds. I almost went back for seconds......but the line was six people deep and now I know why, Las Tortas is the bomb! Ok Denver we are getting better with food options and this place made the favorites list!!! Even approved by my 6 year old picky eater daughter!! So first of all you do have to wear a mask to enter and order. They have small plastic menus that you take home with you or a large menu above the front counter. The staff speaks English and Spanish which was helpful for my wife who speak zero Spanish. She ordered the pescado (fish) torta and I got the grilled cheese one hold the egg and tomatoes please. My daughter got a cheese quesadilla but honestly she ended up eating half of my torta because she said it was so much better!! The wife said hers was amazing!! The lovely staffs rearranged the chairs and tables for our group. Yes, you order from the Counter. Yes, this establishment which I refer as a Mom & Pop shop is PORK Central. So I choose to opt for the A La Carte. For 3 items you pay $7.99. From the list of items to be added if I could recall correctly were, Mayonaise, Cheese, Tomatoes, Onions, Avocado, Chipotle and Beans. As for me I opt to have Mayonnaise, Cheese, Tomatoes, Onions and Chipotle. Don't fancy Avocado and Beans as much, so I ask the staff not to put those on my order of Tortas. So after waiting for like about 5 minutes or so, the staff told me they ran out of Beef Barbacoa. What at NOON, you already ran out of Beef Barbacoa??? *Sad Face* Man.... *SIGH* So since I already order and paid for 3 items, I ask for more Asada since the barbacoa was no longer available and Grilled Chicken and Fountain Soda ($2.31). The Grilled Chicken was a little dry, hence my Tortas order was slightly disappointing. Sorry Las Tortas, though you used to shine in my books, but this time around, it tends to be slightly gloomy in my sunshine books. I am a little confused, maybe my order does not comes with Drinks. If you want a sandwich that can feed a whole town, or maybe use it as make shift dumbell for your home gym, then you come to the right place! The tortas made here are HUGE! The nortena is my favorite on the menu and it's filled with cheesy steak goodness. You would also probably have to check if you have a bite this big as the sandwich is piled high with meat and other ingredients. Oh, my LAWD! This past weekend was pretty crappy and we weren't really dressed to the 9's but still wanted some lunch out. We decided that it was time for Las Tortas since it seemed delicious and pretty casual which is what we were looking for so around 1 PM we made our way. Fortunately for us, there was no line. We found the menu to be pretty large and a little overwhelming for those of us who don't know much about tortas as a general statement but heck if it didn't all look/sound amazing from an outsiders perspective. We chose two and figured we would split them: La Nortena and Michohana. Both sandwiches were very large in size and came with a flash fried jalapeno on the side. The La Nortena had this wonderful simple fried piece of steak with some cheese and ALL the fixings - a little on the spicy side in comparison to the other item we ordered!. The Michohana was a more subtle flavor with pork loin and carnitas and paired so well with the sauce available on the table. Overall, Las Tortas was on awesome experience especially if you want some really delicious food in a casual approachable environment. Oh my... I stopped for lunch on my way home with a very empty stomach. So glad I did. Nice to see a truly "authentic" Mexican restaurant. Walked in to quite a socially-distanced line for lunch. Their menu had Spanish on the menu with English in the small print in parentheses. All around me Spanish was being spoken. Each of these clues caused my mouth to water. Decided to ask the very patient & kind young woman behind the counter what her favorite was. "Jalisco" she responded and I wisely chose that sandwich. It may have been the special that day. I lived in Guadalajara in 2004 and my buddy's aunt owned a torta ahogada puesto (stand). I've been on a mission for years to find a place that could come somewhat close and, honestly, pretty much gave up. We recently moved to the east side of town and this place isn't too far and I figured one day we'd pop in with very low expectations to see what it was about. This happened the other day when my pregnant wife needed something to eat fast. It was on the way home, I proposed it, and although she was reluctant she agreed. I went right for it - the torta ahogada. She wasn't sure and the lady behind the counter helped her a bit so she ended up with the Nortena. Taking a bite of each, I couldn't decide which I liked more. They were both absolutely amazing, spot on, and fulfilled my already lofty expectations.
