The service was really good, especially for a large group at an odd hour. I was really impressed with everything, all of the meals each person of our table got looked amazing... except mine. I wasn't super impressed with the chicken parm pizza, the chicken was super dry and there wasn't any really flavor aside from cheese and sauce. I want to come back to try literally anything else, because it all looked so good!

Philly pork sandwich. Looked decent enough, but wasn't great.

Service was fine and the restaurant atmosphere is quite nice, but I simply did not like the food. Despite it being presented well, the flavors and execution of my dish were not great. I went with the Philly pork sandwich and it had some serious issues. First, it comes on a pizza dough-like crust which absorbed way too many juices. It was basically soaking wet mush the moment it got to my table so I had to eat it open face style with a fork and knife. Upon opening the sandwich up, there was almost no meat inside. Lots of space taken up by soggy bread and the veggies with very little protein. The good sandwich ratio just wasn't there. To top it off, the fries were soggy like the kind you might find at a ball park. For $20+ with tip (and a credit card fee), this spot just didn't work for me. Glad I tried it because it had potential, but probably will not be back any time soon.

Yikes ... just not good. I ordered (DoorDash) the Italian Sausage Bolognese. The bolognese sauce was missing a lot. I'm not sure if I caught these guys on off day for lunch or what? I ordered a meatball with it and that brought the dish up to edible. Swing and a miss. It happens.

My husband and I came here for dinner before our show. We showed up a bit too early and they told us we had to wait so we walked around and came back. They seated us in the bar area which was alright. I was hoping to sit in the dining area but realize the tables/place was small. For starters we ordered calamari and mussels in a tomato broth. Calamari was divine! Breaded thinly and seasoned well. I enjoyed every bite. It was also super oily which was concerning but whatever ! The mussels were good as well. The broth was decent but which there was more seasoning. For entrees we decided to split the chicken Marsala. The dish was pretty good. We loved the mushrooms and the sauce! Service was also very good since they were attentive but also gave us our space. A pretty solid meal but pricey.

This is always a great place to go with friends and mixed appetites. We came after going to see the Zoo Lights on a Sunday evening. It was relatively quiet but they did have the football games on the TVs. The service was super fast and really delicious portions. I loved the spicy chicken vodka rigatoni I had plus everyone else enjoyed their dishes too. Good food, great value. A solid win for the campus area too!

LaScala Fire is a cozy Italian restaurant on the Drexel campus. It offers many seating options (tables & booths) and the bar was decorated with lights. This was my first time eating here and I ordered take out. I ordered the vegetarian pizza for ~$15 and I felt it was just ok. Given the price, I was very happy with the variety of the toppings offered of: grilled zucchini, eggplant, roasted peppers, mushrooms, spinach, and mozzarella. However I wasn't a fan of the textures. The zucchini's were diced small but they were so hard/tough I actually choked a few times or couldn't chew them. The dough was very tough and sharp for the inside of my mouth. The size of the pizza, however, was pretty good for the price as it fed 2 comfortably. As I didn't dine in I can't speak about that service, but the takeout service was friendly and fast and the pizza took only ~15 minutes! I recommend ordering in person since the prices are a little cheaper than online (which is to be expected with service fees) and to skip out on the vegetarian pizza!

Out of all the food here, the ricotta board was the best thing I've had. The ricotta was so fresh and the honey pairing was perfect. The bread was freshly baked and held onto the ricotta and honey nicely. It's the perfect appetizer. The rest of the food items were okay, they use the same marinara on all the dishes. I thought the Marinara tasted good but wasn't special. It was more tart than sweet if that's what you're into. The restaurant is nice and has lots of indoor and outdoor seating. It's a good place to join with friends or take someone out to a nice but affordable restaurant. The service was great! They're super nice and answered all our questions. Everyone is incredibly friendly and made the vibe nice.

Love trying new places. So, this was my Saturday Afternoon. They have an indoor and outdoor area. We sat outdoors. The service was fine. To be honest, the food was subpar. There was nothing that jumped out at me. Nothing really out of the ordinary. The fries were okay. The Bolognese didn't have much sausage, it was really just pasta. The kids Mac was just that. I'm happy I tried this place. I most likely won't be back.

This was only my second time visiting the location since its opening. With so many pizza places on Drexel's campus alone (Ed's, Savas, Mad Greek, Blaze...), it can be hard to stand out. LaScala's is more upscale and a nice sitdown restaurant. I recommend making a reservation through OpenDoor before coming because by the time we left (around 7), it was completely full. The service was nice and the place makes great use of its space, with indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar, and a wood-fired oven inside as well. Beet salad 4/5: had what seemed to be pears on it (though they appear to be potatoes?) which were interesting paired with the shrimp ($6 extra for four pieces of shrimp). Cheesesteak Pizza: 5/5 definitely an interesting choice to offer in Philly. A little unconventional (and very cheesy!) but still delicious Sweet and Spicy Pizza: 4/5: I would order this again but I am glad I swapped the gorgonzola for mozzarella. More like a tangy bbq chicken pizza, as I was expecting more of a kick from the sauce. On the website it says happy hour is every weeknight from 3:30-6:30pm with a selection of appetizers under $10 (including a $7 red or white pizza), $7 house wines and all beers $1 off. I will definitely be back at some point to try!

Overall, a relaxed and casual setting for lunch or dinner. They still had a Christmas tree up (in February) and they also put up a lot of valentines decor! Service was very good. Our server checked on us at regular intervals, and the food arrived quickly. We were here for lunch and tried two of the salads. Cesar salad - 4 out of 5 stars. Too much dressing to vegetable ratio. We added chicken for protein which was grilled really well. Meatball & Italian - 5 out of 5 stars. The ricotta is AMAZING! So light and fluffy. The meatball was very good, and the salad was the perfect size.

Just had the worst veal parmigiana ever, so salty. The waitress had a lot to be desired either, she disappeared too often.

From…read morethe speakeasy vibe of the restaurant to its South Philly culinary inspiration, it was an amazing meal that we'll always remember. We ordered a number of things to share family style - - The Artichoke Francaise appetizer was something we'd never seen before on a menu, so we wanted to try. It was so good and I'm still trying to dupe it at home for my vegetarian hubs. - My husband is a eggplant parm connoisseur, so we also ordered their Eggplant 'Parmigiana' appetizer. He said it was good. - Ricotta Tortelloni was delicious and our favorite savory dish. The aged balsamic cuts through all the richness of the cheeses perfectly. It was so good! - To round off the meal, we ordered dessert and ordered the tiramisu. Glad we did because Giuseppe's & Son's has the BEST tiramisu that either of us has ever tasted. Ava was our waiter that evening. She was the best! When I mentioned my husband was vegetarian, she made sure to clear with him if certain ingredients in the dishes were ok with him. It's a big relief whenever that happens when we dine out. Plus, she was friendly and convivial. The tables at either side of us liked her too. That quality is important and adds to the overall experience for diners. Just had to shout out. Giuseppe's is hands-down a wonderful place and a gem. We highly recommend it if you're looking for something truly special.

The meatballs were served 4 in sauce small to average size meatballs were good, soft and flavorful. The mozzarella was a show pulling it tableside from curds to a full 8oz ball finished with salt , pepper, and flavored olive oil. Dinner we ordered three Italian specialties. Chicken Milanese that was served with shaved Italian cheese and arugula. One vela parm which had the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese. The third meal was a basic bolognese that was served with mafaldine pasta. Entrees were all good. We also added the truffle pasta option for the table which was also prepared tableside with the cheese wheel and shavings of fresh black truffles was a perfect finish. We also had a sharing side of gnocchi with sauce. All in all we had a solid meal. It wasn't the best Italian I even had but it's good. The total was 336 for three with 2 rounds of drinks . Everything was as perfect as it could be why is that because this restaurants been doing it for over 126 years they know a thing or two their customers and had to prepare plate delicious meals. Surprise surprise we actually found parking OK maybe that's because we got there earlier than our reservation in hopes to make another stop that didn't work out so we came early and they greeted us with open arms took us to a beautiful table in front of vintage fireplace hence we were sitting in the perfect spot. Our server, Justin came over to greet us. We got into some conversation before we even touched upon the food. He was exceptional at his run through the menu, his explanations on preparations handling questions. This was definitely not his first, not his second and not his third rodeo he's definitely a professional at what he does. Upon review of the menu we started off with steamed clams and a spicy marinara and actually asked for fra Diavlo hence they gave it an additional hit of spice. It had a nice kick. It was very tasty. My wife was going back-and-forth between their signature lasagna and a little weak weenie with crab Bianco and in the end she went with the baked lasagna oh my goodness the size of that piece on the plate we took half home. She certainly enjoyed her. For me, I went with the veal Catherine, the medallions veal with shrimp, lump crab meat, and fresh tomato and a Bianco sauce the plating presentation I can't describe you'll just have to see my photograph. I've never seen it like this before and it was extremely tasty. Very tender I would certainly get that dish again. And since I am not a pasta eater, I ordered a side vegetable of broccoli Rob. And we ordered a bottle of the Italian Montepuliciano wine, what was the perfect compliment to our dinner? And this was my birthday. My wife was surprising me she had already pre-ordered their homemade tiramisu with ladyfingers, which would wind up taking with us cause we were kind of full and had later that night at one of our favorite coffee houses in Philly and boy that dessert was perfect and I'm glad we waited. Again, everybody was smiles, friendly, and helpful. The place of spotless and you really feel like you're in someone's home.
