I typically love this place. The service, drinks and food have always been very good. We had not been here in about a year and things were noticeably different. The spicy margarita was not spicy. I am pretty sure there was no alcohol in it. There was 0 heat, It was watered down and simply sour. I even had my husband try it because he does not like spice in his drinks, just to be sure. The tuna and sea bass entrees were noticeably different. We received 3-4 ounces of fish and the rest of the plate was filled with mashed potatoes. Even the toppings were slim. My husband had a mango salsa on his that was barely there. I was suppose to have a soy glaze - could not taste it whatsoever. It wasn't surprising after looking at my dish before digging in. I wish I would have snapped some pictures. I do not recall the entrees being like this before and sure enough after looking at some reviews with pictures, something is definitely going on. We attended West Chesters restaurant week and had the restaurant week menu! It was a great deal for the food. The clam chowder and lobster roll were delicious. Beautiful spot in downtown West Chester. The calamari was good and I'm glad they were able to bring me some aioli even thought the menu says it's served with a marinara. The firecracker shrimp was not good... too deep fried and the flavor was one note, not what we expected. My husband also got the Cesar salad with shrimp and honestly I don't think that is a $23 dish. Finally, I got some blue point oysters and enjoyed them but they were lacking the kick from the horseradish. read more

Would like to do 3.5 but it's closer to a 4 then a three sooo. Shocked by how nice it was inside great vibes and atmosphere service was okay pretty slow but it was crowded. Oysters were amazing server did a great job making them, salad was great to they did the dressing perfectly. Stopped in for Oysters and dinner. We found two seats at the bar and were given menus. We ordered a dozen oysters and they were all excellent. For dinner we ordered the salmon salad and the lobster roll. The salmon salad was huge and tasted fresh. The lobster roll was very chewy and had a strong fishy taste. The fries that came with the lobster roll were hot but were greasy liked they sat in oil. Service was good, and the hostess, bartender and food runner were all friendly. The indoor and outside dining was nice. We may come back but just for the oysters and drinks. read more

Greystone $1 oysters are some of the best I've ever had. We regularly make the trip to West Chester to indulge in their house beers, tasty drinks, and $1 oysters (on Mondays!) The service is always friendly and the ambiance is always nice. I love the big windows facing the street and the chic and clean decor. Though I've visited several times, I rarely stray from the oysters. The calamari was good, and I think we've dabbled in the french fries, which were also tasty! You really can't beat the $1 oysters, though. They're meaty, fresh, and delicious. Street parking is plentiful, and in the evening, there is usually a free public garage not far from here. While I can't attest to the other foods they offer, I'm always down to clown for dollar oysters at Greystone! read more

I haven't been here in a couple of years and after reading reviews was a bit concerned that things had gone downhill. Happy to say we had a really nice meal. We had several different types of oysters, all fresh, cold and delicious. My salmon entree was well prepared, very ample and tasty. My husband's lobster roll was on the small side, but flavorful. The buck a shuck was a draw but we had some issues- 1. The calamari was too chewy and there were about 10 of them on the plate. For $17, I expected way more. 2. The happy hour menu doesn't apply to the table seating but they don't tell you that when you sit down- I had reserved a high top in the bar but then added another person which would not fit at a high top. 3. The clam chowder is good but nothing is in it- no clams or potatoes. Weird to this New Englander. My daughter sent hers back. 4. The oysters were just so so - we left 6 of our 2 dozen on the tray. The mignonette sauce is excellent but the cocktail sauce is too sweet - you have to request horse radish. I won't be going back. This is my third and final time at this Oyster bar. read more

We came to Greystone for Happy Hour and sat at the bar -- there were four of us. The bartender was very sweet at first, and we were definitely ordering from the Happy Hour menu. We ordered four drinks, two of them being dirty martinis from the HH menu. The bartender asked if Tito's was okay, and we said yes. When my daughter arrived later, she ordered the same drink, and the bartender again asked "Tito's?" -- but this time said that Tito's wasn't included in Happy Hour pricing. I explained that we hadn't been told that earlier and would have chosen the Happy Hour vodka if we had known. When the bill came, we were charged $19 each for the first two martinis, while my daughter's were $8. I told the bartender I wasn't paying that, and she brought over the manager. The manager did adjust the bill, but her attitude was disappointing -- she never apologized, never checked to see if everything else was okay, and both she and the bartender became cold and dismissive after that. It's unfortunate, because the visit started off great. A little communication and kindness from the manager could have made all the difference. read more

NEVER EAT HERE! To b fair the oysters r good and it ends there. Table of 3, we ordered shrimp po'boy, seafood linguine and clam pot. Asked server, "is the po'boy over loaded with shrimp?" "R the clams little neck". The answer to both was yes, the actual dish was the exact opposite. The shrimp po'boy was served in a piece of Texas toast with FOUR (4) previously frozen, clearly mass produced shrimp with what had to be week old lettuce. To top it off it was priced at $28! The clam pot, enormous clams (wanted and asked for littlenecks) had less than zero flavor. The seafood linguine smelled fishy and not a thing on the plate was fresh. After asking for the manager I asked her "how can u sell me a $28 shrimp po'boy and then give me 4 frozen shrimp". She doubled down and stood her ground that the shrimp were fresh and asked what she could do to make me happy. My response was, "let's u and me walk into your kitchen and when I see that u r serving frozen shrimp, every person currently in this restaurant eats for free tonight,". Her response, "what can I do to make u happy?" Folks nothing in that restaurant is fresh (except the oysters) and wouldn't let me dog eat their food. It's unfortunate because they have a prime location in West Chester and they r doing their best to b out of business by year's end, clearly no one cares. read more

This was first visit to Graystone for dinner. The restaurant is split into 2 half's, one being a first come first serve bar area with seating and the second being a sit down restaurant which takes reservations. The whole restaurant itself is bustling with energy and as such can be quite loud at times. The service is both friendly and attentive. The raw bar offerings are the highlights of the menu while the appetizers, salads & entrées could be hit or miss. For a drink options there is an excellent list of local craft beers & wines seem to all have been from local wineries. This is certainly a great place to go with friends and to have a fun & festive evening full of raw bar offerings, cocktails, and libations but not if you're seeking a romantic evening out. read more

We did the happy hour menu instead of restaurant week as the price seemed kind of steep for what they were offering. We got a dozen oysters, Brussel sprouts, elote, and clam chowder. The oysters were fresh and I like the sauces it came with. The elote was on the cobb so it's hard to share and the clam chowder were good but nothing too special. The only thing that really stood out was the brussel sprouts because they were crispy and the vinaigrette and cheese were a nice addition. Outstanding! Went for an early dinner/birthday celebration. There were 6 of us and we enjoyed a variety of cocktails, appetizers and entrees. Everything was absolutely delicious. I had a bourbon based espresso drink with orange bitters...it was awesome and strong! Good thing I wasn't driving! I had the cooked oyster sampler (even though I prefer raw ones...I decided to try something different). Each one was wonderful; I oddly liked the fried oysters the best. Decadent! My main course was the salmon special that was served with asparagus, mashed potatoes and stuffed with crabmeat. I asked for the salmon the be as rare as possible....it was perfection. And a huge portion. I have no idea how much it cost, however, we split the check in thirds (again-for six people), and the total was $144/couple before tip. That's with multiple cocktails, appetizers and entrees. Then, they brought out a gigantic piece of cheesecake for our birthday friend that we all sampled...even that was good. My husband and I both had the seafood pappardelle pasta a week ago and we both loved it. The pasta was cooked perfectly, sauce was delicious and the dish was plentiful with lots of seafood- clams, scallops and shrimp. It was delicious and a very generous portion. We went there on a Saturday night without a reservation, we were willing to wait because we were really excited to try the oysters here. We walked in to no greeting no smile nothing, when I asked for how long it'd be for a table of two the hostess told us they were full dismissing us from the restaurant. I understand if the restaurant is booked with reservations but I see nothing on their website saying it is reservation only. Definitely will not be visiting here again after their rude treatment. read more

Our server was very slow and un attentive. The oysters and app came out in a reasonable time however our actual meal took forever and our server was nowhere to be found. When our dinner did come out, it was in to go boxes?? Why would we come to sit for dinner to have our meals to go? So it took even longer for us to receive our meal in plates instead of boxes we didn't ask for. It was the strangest thing and there was no apology from our server for the mishap. This is probably better as a drinks/oysters/small plates and chat kind of place. We had been wanting to try it for a while, but it missed the mark for us. The good: the atmosphere is great and our waitress was nice. The $1 oysters were fresh and tasty. The bad: we ordered two salads (Cesar and wedge). The Cesar was okay. The wedge was chopped up in a bowl and the lettuce was all red/brown and wilted. I'm unsure why/how the kitchen allowed it to come out and why/how the waitress carried it to our table and served it to us. Honestly, it looked unsafe to eat. The fish was not good at all, which is confusing considering this is a seafood place. The salmon was overcooked. The tuna was very hard to eat. Each piece had giant strips of fat in it that were impossible to chew through. I was only able to eat and 1/3 of the actual fish because I had to pull out all the fat. Definitely disappointed in this restaurant, will not go back. I wish I had sent my tuna back, but after the salad issue I expected a manager to come over and no one did. read more

Cute spot with fresh seafood and a lively atmosphere. Decently fast service, too. Came in with my husband on a Friday night and were seated right away. Ordered the linguine scampi, shrimp cocktail, and brussels. Everything was well executed and tasted good--my only (tiny) complaint on the food was the linguine noodles were too buttery and the texture of the noodles felt...cheap? Like boxed pasta, ish? First time here and probably will be a no rush back unfortunately. Don't mind paying $150.00 for a good dinner for two but, this was not it. Service was good but the food, was really lacking flavor. Had various things from apps to dinner and dessert, nothing worth going back for. Maybe should go for the oysters only. Even got coffee with our dessert and brewed a new pot, was served with grounds floating in the entire cup, was like having minnie chocolate chips in it! Service: My partner and I came in for first time yesterday (a Sunday) at 5 with reservations. The restaurant was at least 80% empty when we came in and 50% empty when we left around 6ish but for some reason we got seated in the very last tiny table in the back next to what I assume was a beer brewer machine? With the screen directly to my right, a visible drain in my sight and the receipt booth directly to my left where there was always a servant doing something. My partner was on opposite side of the table staring at the bathrooms behind me. I have no idea why the restaurant even has this table--it should be against codes and a last resort, especially for people with reservations. I would've loved the ambiance otherwise literally anywhere else in the restaurant and regret not asking to change. Our waitress was nice enough and was training another waitress BUT 2 huge pet peeves of mine are overly attentive staff and when I ask for recommendations and every pick is just the most expensive thing in that section of the menu. This was ridiculously transparent. We ordered her recco for oysters (ordered a dozen) and they were not only a third of the size of the others, they were the same quality with exception of being more expensive. She also started off with a really long explanation, pushing alcoholic drinks without asking us if we wanted any (we don't drink). I was shocked to read some of the reviews because in my opinion, the service was too attentive-almost annoying to be asked how everything is every 2 minutes. Felt like we were being watched especially since we were in direct view of the waiters. I come from food service and reading expressions is something I found helpful. Food: Would 10/10 come back for the oysters and calamari or try some of their other small plates for predinner. Both our entrees were below average and not worth the price at all. The poke bowl rice was not just al dente but underdone. It had ZERO flavor--essentially a $25(+tax and tip) bowl of semi cooked rice with raw cut vegetables (which didn't seem fresh at all), lean tuna and an EXTREMELY acidic soy glaze. The bowl was so unbalanced and was missing salt, sugar, fat. It might work better with fatty raw salmon, proper slaw and creamier sauce. I barely ate a third and my partner picked at the tuna and I came in starving. My partner's po-boy was slightly better but on the dry side. Generally, I was probably too excited for this place as I just moved to the area but gotta give it a 1 star bc I had to get food on the way home after a $150 dinner without alcohol. read more

Decided to try out some new places in West Chester last night. I have heard mixed reviews about this place and figured I would give it a shot to see where I stand. Their website showed a July 3rd special of happy hour from 4-6pm so we intentionally went here first. When we arrived at 415 they explained that happy hour didn't start until 5pm. We explained that their website clearly states 4-6pm which is why we went there at 4pm. They explained it was a 3rd party error on the website (taking no accountability on themselves for not double checking their website that they pay a service for) and would not honor the happy hour deals. At this time their places was empty, seats still available at the bar and outside patio wide open. We asked again are you going to honor your website happy hour deals and they were sticking to the fact that it was a 3rd party error. This was a bad business decision by their manager who has now lost 2 potential customers and our word of mouth about this experience. Not good for a small business. read more

This was our second trip to greystone. Our server, Lydia, was an absolute gem and made the night spectacular. For the second time this location absolutely blew us away. The oysters were perfect, Summer Love particularly was a huge centerpiece and can't be missed. The PaperPlane cocktail was the epitome of a leather arm chair and some seriously important business. 10/10. Will be back sooner than later. read more

Literally 4:30 we went to order, and they said no! The bartender got the manager, the manager came over and said no, came back 5 minutes later and doubled down saying they weren't honoring their website!! Not to mention it's stateside vodka and they want $13 for an orange crush which would be $8 in 27 minutes. It's not even top shelf, they weren't losing money by honoring their website prices and hours. We left and happily paid full price down the street at Sedona for top shelf liquor. Tried 2 different ways of cooked oysters (grilled and Rockefeller) - they were 'meh' - they weren't hot when they came out and the parmesan cheese was grated small slices that were not melted. Went here two weeks ago to celebrate a friend's 75th birthday on a Sunday evening. We got off to a good start- our waitress was on top of it and the cocktails were delicious. I had a purple cocktail with crème de violette and my husband and our friend had manhattans. Friend order lobster bisque that was quite tasty. My husband and I shared a calamari salad- basically arugula salad with calamari on top. The calamari was good but overall nothing special. My husband ordered lobster ravioli which had a lobster tail with it . It was ok but drowning in lobster bisque! My friend and I both ordered the fish special- pompano with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was nicely presented but way overcooked. We finished with birthday cake for the birthday celebration. It was good. The problem began when we tried to pay with a gift card. The waitress said that they were having issues . After a lot of trouble and embarrassment they took the gift card amount off . Very disappointing to not be given the benefit of the doubt in a situation like this. Our waitress was stellar through it all . Beautiful day in downtown WestChester. We saw oysters and the menu looked great and good YELP reviews. Sat outside and the hostess told us we could only sit in two seat tables. There was only one couple there with a baby. We sat and ended up moving to another 2 seater because of the sun. Only one other party came while we were eating. Hostess nice but not very welcoming. After I got over that the young man who waited on us was great! We started with a red and white wine from a PA winery, Pinnacle Ridge. They have since closed so this was a great treat! We split the wedge salad. The waiter had the kitchen split it for us! It was so yummy, the buttermilk ranch was creamy! My friend ordered clam chowder which was not as thick as some as and she loved it! I had the fried oyster, 6 delicious medium sized and lightly fried. I love them on my salad. The family and I had dinner here for Mother's Day. We reserved a table outside and the host that I spoke with the day before was so nice to reserve a table under that was under cover just in case it rained. We were promptly greeted and sat. The inside was super busy and we were only one of two families sitting outside. Our server was very nice and made great drink and food recommendations. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller since we haven't had them in forever. They were ok... just a tad too strong of fishy taste for my liking. My husband got the Lobster Rolls, I got the Shrimp Scampi and my daughter ordered the Fish and Chips. The fish on the Fish and Chips were a little soggy but reheated nicely in the toaster oven the next day. My shrimp scampi was delicious and the lobster rolls were very good. I also had two drinks - Black every Lavender Lemonade and Grapefruit Crush. Both drinks were so delicious and I could drink them forever! At one point I had taken my daughter to the restroom and the soap dispenser was completely out of soap. I informed an employee and he promptly replaced the soap but that kind of grossed me out because then I started wondering who else used the bathroom before us that didn't wash their hands? All in all this is an upscale oyster bar, not like the previous doc magrogan's that we previously had. The portions are small for what you pay but let's face it... this isn't an Italian restaurant where you're going to get a portion that will feed you for three days. I would love to go back for happy hour if they have it for drinks and $1 oysters. read more
