When hubby and I visited CT back in July this was the first restaurant we tried. We had been on the road all day so we went for an early dinner and decided to go with their 2 for $33 dinner special. We chose the Popcorn shrimp as our appetizer, I went with the Balsamic Chicken paired with pasta and hubby got the Chicken Cordon Bleu with pasta. Both meals were very good, the chicken was moist and tender and the marinara sauce was delicious, each meal comes with a small garden salad as well which was very fresh and they even offer French dressing (unheard of in most restaurants in our area). We got our dessert to go - Peanut Butter Pie and really enjoyed that before bed. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and when we talked to our waitress about how we were in town to check out some of their beaches she gave us several recommendations. Have eaten in the restaurant many times and ordered take out and have been very pleased each time until tonight. Tonight's to go dinner was terrible. I picked up the food at the time I was told it would be ready and drove 5 minutes to my house. The burger and steak sandwich were both cold as was the order of fries. My deluxe burger didn't come with the fries and cole slaw as advertised on the menu and the onion soup wasn't properly contained so most was lost in the to go bag and on my car floor. We ate there years ago. While shopping in Milford a year ago, we decided to go back. The food was so phenomenal, we are now weekly regulars. Their roast beef sandwiches are to die for, onion rings are fantastic. We go on Thursdays for their $32 two meal deal. The Shrimp Gorgonzola is my absolute favorite. We picked Lasse's for dinner on our way to Providence because my daughter had a cold and wanted soup and because the website had a great family-owned vibe. We hit the jackpot! Portions are definitely good for sharing. My husband and daughter both had big bowls of French onion soup to start and I had the biggest wedge salad I've ever seen in my life. For entrees my husband had the famous roast beef sandwich au jus, I had a delicious, buttery lobster roll, and my daughter had grilled cheese. Stumbled on to this place while wondering around. Down home, local place but fabulous food and help. Everyone treated us like regulars. Pat our server was really special. Our last night of a 10 day trip to DE, MD and CT. Special of prime rib was very large portion for 18.95. Tender and flavorful. Wife had chicken with pasta. Large portion and great. This is like the 3rd time I've been there. Great food, friendly waitresses. The Seafood Jumbolya was good and spicy. Excuse the hyperbole, but this is the best roast beef sandwich in town. I can not speak for anything else on the menu because I've ordered takeout from here somewhere near a dozen times and I get the roast beef sandwich every time. The older man at the bar can be a bit grumpy (which is the only reason I didn't give this place a 5), but I the roast beef sandwich is so good I can deal with a little crankiness. I had the roast beef open faced dinner. The roast beef was very thin. I was expecting a nice piece of carved roast beef. The dish was a salt bomb. The flavor of the gravy was good, but salty. When you walk into the restaurant you are hit with a faint smoke smell as well as something used to try to cover up the smell. The serves was excellent. read more

The serving staff seemed miserable and made me feel bad for being there. The food was gross. Fries were obviously frozen. Hamburgers were hockey pucks, asked for medium but got well done. Dry as a bone. The only flavor in the cole slaw was mayo. If a restaurant can't handle a simple burger that's pretty bad. The one star was generous, do yourself a favor and DONT GO!!!! read more

I LOVE LASSE'S. This place is a piece of Milford history and the food is always good. I don't dine here a lot, but when I do- it's a treat. They have great specials on Monday's Tuesday's and Wednesday's where they offer $10 chicken and pasta dishes with soup or salad and bread. For $10 the portions are still really generous and the food is delicious. I find their drinks, especially the beer, to be on the higher end- but the food is great. After someone's recommendation, I happened to see this little place on the way to somewhere else I was going. So I decided to try it out, and even picked up a few sandwiches for co-workers. In a word.... outstanding. I checked the menu online, and was so drawn to the picture of their roast beef sandwich picture on their homepage. It's a tiny little hole in the wall on the Post Rd right near the Milford/Devon line. Looks like it's been there forever. Experience has shown, some of the best dishes anywhere come out of places like this. And that still holds true. They simply do not skimp on the portions. Everyone's sandwich was piled so high with meat. We were all pretty excited to have tried this place. And the lunch special on my huge sandwich was just $6.95 and included potato salad or Cole slaw. Potato salad was my choice. Excellent! They are also one of the very few places I've seen that still serve hot open sandwiches. There's a very 50's to 60's feel to this place. Nightly specials that even include liver and onions. I'll pass on that, but really, who serves liver and Onions anymore? My grandfather would have loved this place if he were still here. Bottom line? Great place that's been there forever. Today I finally went in with my wife. I had fillet of sole with fries and french onion soup. Perfect for a winter day. Service was good, food was great. I highly recommend the bread pudding which came out hot with sweet syrup and whipped cream. read more

Ordered half tray of roast beef and chicken Marsala for a party, claiming to serve 12 to 15 per tray not even close, only 22 slices of RB rolled up pieces I actually counted them! Good (but not great) family style restaurant, not so good catering. Lasse's Restaurant has been around longer than I have (literally) and is considered a staple of Milford. They have a big menu and the prices are reasonable. The $10 chicken and pasta special on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays is amazing and they give you big portions. The only gripe I have is about the quality of some of the food. The beef dishes I've ordered tend to be very fatty. When its a $6.99 roast beef sandwich lunch special thats one thing, but its another story when its a catered meal. My family ordered several of their dishes for catering, one of them being beef tips (which was $50-70 a tray), and it was almost inedible with all the fat in it. A lot of the other dishes we got were bland and at the end of the night they remained barely touched. All in all I would recommend Lasse's restaurant, but stay away from the catering. read more

Ha-ha! What can I say? This place has lots of local color. And by that I mean eat in the bar for fun but don't bring your mother. The fried calamari was tasty, but cut too large. The chili was surprisingly spicy and good! Beer selection was decent and my IPA came ice cold. No complaining about the chocolate lava cake either. Just watch out for the guy telling the story about punching some other guy in the f-ing mouth. He's a hoot! read more
