We had a few drinks here, I thought 2 of the 4 drinks we had were really good but the other 2 were just ok. I believe the usp of this place is not the drinks but the banter with the bartender and the dim lit speakeasy ambiance. It is located in the Eastside which is very quiet compared to the more lively French quarters and there is pretty much nothing else around so plan your trip accordingly.

We enjoy coming here for the cocktails, usually before we head to dinner nearby. There is a speakeasy in the back which we enjoyed on our first visit. The server gets to know you, asking questions about your likes and dislikes and then returns with cocktails built on your replies. It was a fun first time, and the dark vibe made it even more fun. We returned recently to have cocktails up front, and the early afternoon time we found it empty inside. All the better for us. I ordered my favorite cocktail, the Last Word, and my friends each enjoyed their favorites. Overall this is a nice place to go for cocktails, a good variety of options they offer, and will likely be able to make anything you want.

The Last Saint is one of those Charleston gems that proves less is more. The moment you step inside, the room wraps around you, intimate and low lit, the kind of speakeasy energy that feels intentional rather than trendy. Marc, the mixologist, stole the show. He crafted a Basil Hayden whiskey sour that genuinely stands among the best I've had in Charleston. Perfect balance, silky texture and froth for days; the man clearly knows his craft and takes pride in it. If you're after a spot with atmosphere, real cocktail execution and a vibe that feels like a secret you're lucky to know about, The Last Saint should be on your list.

Last Saint is a small, low lit bar located off of meeting street. Parking is available around back in a lot or on the street. This is a small venue that make excellent cocktails at a reasonable price and an aesthetic that makes you feel cool and welcomed. Not pictured is the Annex bar at the back. This is a speakeasy that you must make reservations for. Overall, I love coming here. I only make it out every few months but the service is always great, I love the atmosphere, and the drinks are delicious. I had a dirty gin martini that is top 5 in Charleston. (Personal preference not saying it's actually named that.)

Came for 'Annex' speakeasy hidden in the back. The concept is fun. There's no menu and the bartender asks you a few questions to get a feel for your vibe, then customizes your drink. Sounds cool, right?! Unfortunately, after the waitress guessed my drink (by name) when I started talking about it, and then I saw menu cards with drink names presented to the bartender, and watched several of the exact same 3 drinks made and sent out, it quickly became apparent that the actual drink variety is very limited, and the questions are merely a guide to the most general of menus. Seated at the bar it also became apparent that although the shelved selection seems fun and interesting, most ingredients come up from underneath with generic products like 'Beefeater' gin making up the largest part of their cocktails. Sadly, once the man behind the curtain is revealed, the Wizard is unmasked as just a man, and the magic is gone.

Make a reservation at the Annex!! Intimate, cozy and amazing speakeasy in the back of the bar. There is not drink menu. The cocktails are curated by the conversation you have with the waitress. Then she asks questions- likes and dislikes, and the bartender whips up an amazing cocktail to your taste. I cannot recommend this place any more. Plus they have mocktails for $7. Each custom cocktail is $16 which is very reasonable for the experience and quality. 1000/10 recommend

Whiskey Sour w/ egg white with a spin on it!

Annex is an absolute gem and a true speakeasy tucked behind Last Saint that delivers both atmosphere and artistry. When you walk in, head straight to the back and ring the doorbell, which immediately sets the tone for a hidden bar experience. There is no traditional drink menu, and that is part of what makes this place so special. The bartenders ask a few thoughtful discovery questions and then create a personalized cocktail based on your preferences. The presentation is beautiful and every drink we had was outstanding, especially if you appreciate a well crafted cocktail. I also love that they use real egg whites instead of vegan foams, which gives the drinks a rich and velvety texture. The space is intimate, cozy, and truly unique. Because seating is limited, I highly recommend making a reservation on weekends, although they do offer a standing table if you decide to drop in.

It's been a few years since I've been here and I honestly missed their menu. When I came a few years ago they had a great menu with a wide range of unique cocktails. Now they make cocktails based on conversation and neither of us were overly pleased or excited about the drinks we had. I think there could be a disconnect because a waiter is having the conversation with you not the actual bartenders. It also took us forever to get inside. Someone came out to use the restroom and that's the only reason someone came to the door despite us ringing the door bell several times and having a reservation. The vibe is still good for a date night but not sure if I will come back because the drinks were a miss.

Highly recommended by cocktail loving co-workers, I visited the Last Saint twice - once in the main bar and once in the Annex. I loved this place. Located just a little off the people heavy King Street Last Saint had a front room which is very grandma-chic, like a bar met an antique store and had a kid, and a back room, the Annex, which is mellow, intimate, and delightful. The difference is that the front bar has a fixed menu of delightful cocktails and the Annex doesn't believe in menus. They need no menus because they are awesome. Both visits I had a great time. The Last Saint offers amazing, inventive cocktails while acknowledging the classics with all the hospitality I enjoy in Charleston. I was shocked to find that I was remembered from my first trip. I don't consider myself noteworthy, so I was taken off guard with the recognition. It was such an amazing experience!

In the back of Last Saint is a bar called the Annex. It is a small dark space that feels mysterious and exclusive. You have to have a reservation and ring a bell to get in. Inside, the bartenders make you a drink based on info you provide. Type of liquor; sweet, sour, bitter; other flavors; and tada you are given a drink! The cocktails were great. Small venue but the drinks are great. Went here for a night out with girlfriends. The cocktail sizes were generous and they packed a bit of a punch but in a good way. Even in pouring rain this place was still packed. The staff was really friendly and they offered great suggestions based on our preferences. There's no parking offered by the venue itself so we had to walk a but to get there. Very trendy interior. I could see this place being great for a cute date for couples, and nice spot for friends in the evening or even happy hour. read more

Really liked this place! It kept coming up in lists of cocktail lounges to try, and I was happy we did. We got the Mexican Cold Brew cocktail, which I loved. It was a big size for a cocktail, but not overwhelming but just right. It was like a big gulp expresso martini...need I say more They also had Underberg :) Great place to hit after dinner to help digest The ambiance was cute, reminded me of some of the cocktail bars back in Brooklyn. Generously rude bouncer (not in a cool way) I'm not a yelper (I think ya'll are dorks) but I was bummed out by the vibe I'lll never come back and will create a yelp account just to convey how there are way better cocktail clubs nearby. Go to Royal American. First review. What up. To elaborate. We were gracious customers, no last call warning (the light thing) all of a sudden they start kicking people out (totally normal) *but we called our Uber the moment we see people leaving* my girlfriend (underdressed ((birthday))) was shivering furiously I offered her my jacket which left me in short sleeve. I went back into the door to graciously ask in kindness that we wait inside until our Uber came (9min) the bouncer looked begrudgingly from the barstool and denied my request. Internally I burned with the anger of 7 suns but I bit my tongue and accepted his rejection. Outside on the sidewalk, observing my anxious and hopeful company I explained the situation. Although the cold had overcome us already there was nothing left to say but wait a brutal 10 minutes until evacuation. It was taken with uttermost disappointment. Amongst all the bars in Charleston SC this is a very quaint and small establishment. I couldn't help but wonder if it was the impatience of the staff, was it the sheer burden of working f&b for a full shift, or was it something more sinister was burning inside the gatekeeper of Last Saint they call the bouncer. Nonetheless, my advice for you, Yelp reader - call an Uber at like 1am (they aren't fun behind the bar) And the bouncer is lonely, so someone relieve the pressure please (for all of us). Drinks are like 6/10. read more

Male server is rude, uncouth and odious. He spoke to us in a very demeaning tone and it continued all evening. We felt very uncomfortable. The female server had to be our bartender and server do to his hostility. Drinks were good overall but the ambience and seating is just lacking and nothing special. A bit tight that it was difficult not to feel like you are seated with the other people in the tables next to us. After our poor treatment we won't be returning. Sad this is how that man has to behave in public. read more

Glad we were able to check out this new spot which only opened 6 weeks ago while visiting! We didn't try the snacks but the options looked perfect for drinking. Cocktails were all great and we especially enjoyed doing a round of bartenders choice -- he nailed it. Lighting was PERFECT even if the menus were a little hard to read. We will likely return even though it's a short visit. Definitely check it out. read more

Such a cool experience at the Annex. Dark and moody speak easy vibes in an intimate setting with ~12 total seats or so. The bar tenders are super knowledgeable and creative -- you give them your spirit preference and they'll ask a couple questions to get an idea of your likes / dislikes to help create the perfect blend. Regardless, greeted and seated promptly. Service was spotty throughout the meal, with servers checking back "worried I missed something" - which generally happened. Menu is relatively limited if you have a picky eater, and clearly labelled "no substitutions". On the food: The great: Get the She Crab Soup - delish and a generous portion. Devilled eggs pretty great too - through my dining partner didn't like the pork rind garnish. The good: The chicken tenders were well received. Generous dark meat portion. The not so great: The cheese biscuit was probably one of the worst pieces of bread I have been served at a restaurant... dry and flavorless. I thought they forgot to include one on one dinner plate - perhaps they were just doing us a favor. The whipped potatoes were inconsistent - very smooth, but with some huge unprocessed pieces. Cucumber salad was average - and should be served in a bowl so that the vinegar doesn't cross contaminate the tenders. All in all, if you are going to force a plate to be served with certain sides, they should be prepared and served well. We did order a side of fries at an added cost but they weren't great either. Three stars for nice decor and apps - but not likely to be the place of choice for future meals in Charleston.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a high-energy, friendly host staff that immediately made us feel welcome and set the tone for the evening. I started with the Prince Edward Island oysters on the half shell, which were fresh and excellent. My wife enjoyed the grass-fed filet mignon, while I ordered the 45-day dry-aged ribeye. Both steaks were outstanding - incredible flavor, perfectly prepared, and exceptionally tender. The experience went far beyond just the food. One of the owners, Billy, introduced himself and then personally brought over two glasses of champagne to congratulate us on our anniversary, which was a very thoughtful gesture (even though my wife doesn't drink alcohol and champagne isn't my preference). The restaurant manager also made a point to stop by and congratulate us. Our server, Aidy (pronounced "eighty"), was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable of the menu, attentive, and genuinely enjoyable throughout the evening. As is tradition at Halls, they brought out and displayed the various cuts of steak while explaining the characteristics of each - a great touch that added to the experience. We ordered the mashed potatoes and the pepper jack creamed corn skillet for sides, both excellent. Dessert was the perfect finish: vanilla crème brûlée and whiskey bread pudding. One thing that really stood out was how well orchestrated the entire restaurant operation felt. From the hosts, to the servers, to the managers and support staff, everyone worked together seamlessly to create a polished and memorable dining experience. The staff worked hard, and each person clearly knew and performed their role perfectly. It was impressive! The dining room itself had a loud, energetic vibe that added to the atmosphere of the evening and fit the overall Halls experience perfectly. Honestly, there's not much we could have asked to be better. Halls delivered an exceptional dining experience all the way around.

Amazing bar with such a cool speakeasy. Make a reservation for the Annex @ Last Saint, when you arrive head straight to the back and ring the doorbell for the Annex. Once you get back there it is so cool. There is no drink menu and the bartender makes you a custom drink based on your palate and preferences. Had high hopes for this place but not exactly sure about it. drinks were okay nothing to write home about. location just isnt ideal and nothing really else around it so you're kinda stuck here. feels like it's trying a bit too hard to be "cool". read more
