Quarter Cheese Patty Melt - sourdough, double patty, american, swiss, grill onion, fry sauce
    John R.

Pretty much everything is unique and awesome here! Great service, nice indoor and outdoor seating. Nice little place you wouldn't really know was there from the outside. The Quarter Cheese Patty Melt - sourdough, double patty, american, swiss, grill onion, fry sauce? Kind of a burger, kind of a grilled cheese, kind of something else. The MANGO THAI TEA FRUITED SOUR - real mango, coconut, and thai tea. Stunningly bright beer for sure. Or is it really "beer"? I don't care because it was an adventure!

Update: came back for a burger and the fried saltines, did not disappoint!!! The burger was 5 stars, no notes, already planning to come for another one soon. Beer is solid. Bartenders are friendly. Check this place out!

Stopped in before the Lightning game last week to grab a beer and a delicious smash burger! Late Start is the brewery, and Mighty Fine is their smash burger concept, they share the same location. They offer solid house-made brews along with guest taps. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, including tables and bar seating. I love the bar's theming it's modern, fun, and well done. There's one TV if you want to catch a game, but it's definitely not a sports bar vibe. We ordered the smash burgers and fries, and they were incredible. A true smash burger, super flavorful and cooked perfectly. the sauce was *chefs kiss* as well. I'd absolutely come back for another brew and burger. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! This might be one of the best smash burgers in Tampa so far, so definitely give it a try. Parking is limited with about five spots out front, but there's street parking and a dirt lot nearby.

Stopped for a late breakfast. I ordered a Bacon Taco and an order of Fried Taters. Wayyyyyy too much food but oh so good! I should have split the taters with my husband. Heck, I could have shared them with the whole table! They were as expected, crispy and tasty. The Bacon Taco was great too. What a unique concept - a morning taco with bacon. I ordered mine without the egg. Loved it!

Good vibes when you go for either breakfast, lunch or dinner! The breakfast was SO GOOD along with the coffee. For lunch or dinner, the fried pickles are a must (I typically don't like fried pickles).

Holy bacon taco, what a find! Perched on the edge of downtown Tampa, Late Start is the buzzy blue building, with its own brewery, serving up its own craft beer and locally roasted coffee. Also on tap: gentle morning vibes, that are somehow both energizing and hazy at the same time. Late start is a great start, transitioning into the weekend. I stopped in on a Friday morning around 8:30. You order at the counter just inside the door, then grab whatever seat you'd like and they'll bring out your food/drinks. I ordered the bacon tacos with a side of hash browns and a can of Diet Coke (I almost went with matcha, but decided I wanted to concentrate on the food flavors). The hash browns were coin shaped and crunchy-a generous portion. And the bacon and egg tacos.... WOW!!!! The soft shells were solid and held up to all the filings. The scrambled eggs were so tasty and cooked well--and the bacon was both crunchy and chewy...and not at all fatty. Sometimes,, when you order a breakfast sandwich, the bacon is an afterthought... it's there, but not in great quantity or of top quality. Not here! The bacon was perfect on each taco (yeah, I had two!)... exquisite, really. I could burst into song or sonnet over that bacon-swine so fine. I wonder if the effortlessly cool people at the tables near me could tell I was having a moment and melting into breakfast bliss? It was lively and busy but not crowded or frantic. There were several tables, from two seaters to long gathering spots... and counter seating near the taps, for a little later in the day and stools near the front. You can also sit outside, on two sides of the building. On nice days, there's a garage door and window, they can open, to create an indoor/outdoor experience. The menu isn't large but if the lunch/dinner options are as tasty and filling as the breakfast fare, I'm excited to go back. I'll bring the friends at night and report back. P.s. as of January 23, 2026 there's some construction right next door, blocking roads/access right outside. I wasn't overly familiar with this exact area and ended up parking in a pay-through-an-app lot next door. There might be free street parking nearby or another way to get to their small lot, but I wasn't aware of it. Let me know what you find out!

Super cool spot with really good food and drinks! Great service too. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating options. There was very cute Christmas decor too! Would definitely come back!

Enjoyed a avocado breakfast bowl which consisted of crispy taters, scrambled egg, cotija, pico de gallo, cilantro, pickled onion, poblano crema. The breakfast bowl was fulfilling and full of flavor. Def recommend that option if you visit late start for breakfast. To drink I had the small cold brew for $4.50. This drink was tasty and refreshing. The service was cool, you order at the bar and pick your food up once it's ready. Really love the ambiance here and the location. Late start is a cool lil vibe for sure. They have gift cards available and the parking lot is a decent size to accommodate about 6-7 cars. I typically walk or bike when I come!

Burger and patty melt were fantastic albeit expensive, fries a tad bit salty. Beers could be a better price given it's from the brewery. Parking can be terrible given side streets are no parking/double yellows outside of a three blocks away.

    Double cheeseburger and hot dog

While finding this place - I came in with no dea what I wanted to get - so I order a class boi single - my husband ordered the hot dog - after an abnormal amount of time - grabbing our food from the counter - I was told they accidentally gave me a double cheeseburger - I figured just pulling everything apart would work fine .... It was definitely a mess - now my husband really likes hot dogs - but the over amount of cheese and mustard - he didn't finish his hot dog - I liked the set up of everything ... along with forcing people to be kind while having us sit together - I bought a T-shirt thanks for the meal -

I love a brewery with great vibes and plenty of options! Late Start not only serves quality craft beer but also offers snacks, food, and coffee. While the exterior may resemble a General Store, the inside is inviting, and cozy. The vibe is pleasant, and the staff is friendly. Plus, with outdoor seating available, this weather makes it the perfect time to enjoy the space! Cheers!

I'm from Los Angeles CA the smash burger capital of the world and mighty fine/late start dog walks every single one of those places. I might even like it more than in n out. Their fry sauce is gas, their sesame bun burger I think is slightly better than the potato bun version. Their fries and fried pickles are delicious. I just tried their breakfast tacos for the first time earlier this week. Also fucking delicious. I wanna try the patty melt and chicken sandwich next times I go. But it takes a lot for me to go out of my way to leave a positive review but this may be like top 3 favorite spots to eat in Tampa. Maybe even #1. If the owners are reading this, please add a breakfast burrito to the menu with a chipotle crema/aoli on the side, hot sauce and Cilantro salsa. All the breakfast burritos in Tampa suck!! But I know u guys would make it amazing

Waffle fries and Single Classic Boi

This spot is super cute. Atmosphere is really nice. Guys at the counter were very nice also. Super clean. When I walked in they had just opened the garage door so fresh air was running in. People were seated and on their laptops. We just ordered take out. Food was really good. My friend got a deluxe burger and I did the classic with waffle fries. We ordered single patties. We also ordered some fried pickles and those were delicious! The sauces are super tasty too Next time I will for sure dine in and order the double patties.

I thought we would love it, but we ended up finding it just OK…read more This is a super popular spot. We came at about 9 AM on a Sunday and there was a 15 minute wait. A lot of people bring their children here and it makes sense that they're here early since children wake up early. They also have a really cute treasure box with prizes for the kids, so if I was here with my family, I probably would bump this up a star. However, I was here with my husband and our couple friend. The decor is beautiful. I love how bright and cheery all the decorations are. Parking can get difficult, it seems like they have just enough parking for the amount of people there. The food is what I found just OK. I got their yogurt bowl, which I guess I can't really expect to be wow'd by a yogurt bowl, but I found it to be fine. My options were limited since I don't eat pork and a majority of their meat is pork. They do have a chicken sausage, but looking at pictures. It looks like the casing may possibly be pork so I decided to avoid it just in case. I also got their cold brew, it didn't come with any cream or sweetener or anything to add. I probably should've asked for some, because I found the cold brew to just be OK. My husband got the chicken pot pie and said he expected more chicken in it. I think our overall feel of the food was it was fine, but not great. I won't run to come back here, but I also wouldn't be opposed to someone wanted to. I think that's the definition of three stars for me. Price is super reasonable, this meal will not break the bank.

Fair warning: this place has two personalities -- a restaurant side and a much louder dance-party side that share the same building. We opted for the restaurant side, which was surprisingly not busy despite the earliest reservation we could get being 7:30pm on a weeknight. The menu blends classic soul food (fried chicken, mac and cheese) with a strong New Orleans Creole influence -- gumbo, jambalaya, fried seafood, cornbread. Portions are enormous. We started with the deviled eggs ("D'Evils"), topped with fried chicken bites and lemon pepper dust -- excellent and surprisingly filling for just four halves. We also got the Nolia Clip, a vegan gumbo base loaded with fried shrimp, crabmeat, turkey sausage, and a full catfish filet -- essentially an entree-sized bowl on its own. For entrees, the fried chicken plate ("Let's Stay Together") was a standout -- moist chicken, crispy crust, great mac and cheese and collard greens, though the cornbread muffins were bland and watery-tasting. My jambalaya ("Burning Blues") turned out to be nearly identical in ingredients to the gumbo appetizer we'd already had, just a bit thicker and in a bigger portion -- worth knowing before you order both. We left with a full meal's worth of leftovers and zero room for dessert. Food quality was great across the board (minus the cornbread), and portions are a serious value. Service was the weak point -- slow to seat and slow table-side all night. Good pick if you're after soul food with Creole flair and don't mind a leisurely pace.

Delicious food with a lively atmosphere and welcoming staff - what more could you ask for?…read more I visited Oak and Ola for a birthday dinner and had an amazing time. Rather than trying to search for parking, we just paid $20 for the lot right nearby and it worked out great for us. We had a large group and our waiter, Zachary, was amazing. He had plenty of recommendations, anecdotes, stories, and jokes to keep everyone happy and full. He was definitely a highlight for all of us. We had a variety of drinks, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. I had the Sacred Empress and was so impressed with the balance of flavors - mostly sweet with a slight punch from the serrano cilantro simple syrup. It sounds funky but trust me on this! We also split a bottle of the Lagar De Costa Albariño, at the recommendation of our waiter, and we all loved it. For food, we started with the Lobster Ravioli, Truffle Frites, Crispy Pork Belly Bites, Crunch Love Caesar Salad, and Olives. All were devoured and I think the crowd favorites were the Lobster Ravioli (though expensive, $26 for 3) and the Pork Belly Bites. For mains, most people tended to get either the Steak Frites or the Gulf Fish Amandine (which was snapper). My steak and another at the table were both way overcooked on the first go around but they very quickly remade them (and the fries) and got them back to us in 5 minutes, perfectly cooked. It was a delicious and filling dish. The Gulf Fish Amandine was also really tasty, but it felt like it was missing something like a starch. It's a very simple and classic dish. The Pork Chop was also well loved amongst the table and many people wished they got it after trying a bite! For dessert, you absolutely have to get the Toffee Cake - it was everyone's favorite dessert. Super soft, warm, and comforting, plus that vanilla ice cream just took it to another level. We also enjoyed the Chocolate Mousse, and the free birthday dessert they kindly brought out for us. Overall, the restaurant is fun and lively, with an eclectic feel in the mismatched dining sets and decor. I really loved how it felt. It's definitely a nicer spot for a date or celebration, but worth it!

The Ahi tuna was absolutely delicious. I found the kale Caesar had a bit too much sauce, it tasted extra cheesy to me, so I think this Caesar sauce which is homemade has quite a bit of cheese in it for those of you who may not be big cheese fans.
