Oh yes. I am not expert on Kenyan cuisine, but I love the food and atmosphere of this charming spot. The owner/chef is welcoming and friendly. The food is unusual, flavorful and cooked fresh to order. Make sure to try the collard greens, which are flavored quite differently from Southern US-style. The greens and the delicately flavored plantain fufu (a paste that goes with everything, kind of the tortilla of this cuisine) can be accompanied by a variety of meats or stews. I had the whole fried tilapia, which was crunchy and fun to eat. I also tried a piece of the grilled chicken, from the charcoal cooker out front, and it was exquisite. The setting, in a late-night music venue in an industrial area, is just the coolest. (But you can go eat here early, before the rave starts.) There is another African food business, from Senegal, in the same space. Nice murals on the neighboring streets. Great place to take an out-of-town visitor for a taste of Portland. Or just take yourself there right now!

Wow wow what a yummy place to try African food. The jollof rice was packed with flavor and I loved trying egusi with fufu for the first time. The owner was so friendly and after he was done preparing orders, he came to talk to us more about the food.

Horrible server

The service here was horrible. The person behind the counter was extremely rude, he put his hands on a customer and shoved them then proceeded to yell at the person for serving their own water. Absolutely unacceptable behavior.

I recently discovered this place and have eaten there food twice now. Once delivered and once dine…read morein. Both times I liked it, when I ate in I ordered more to take home for laters as there weren't any left overs. I loved their salad it's made with their smoked turkey. The brisket chili and potato salad sides were so good! I would eat that anytime. The burnt ends and brisket were too fatty for me but I like lean, I think most people will be happy. The location is nice, staff are friendly. I was impressed the sides of meat come on a slice of bread to soak up the grease. I can't wait to go back. I'm thinking happy hour for the brisket nachos.

We enjoyed the food. It was a little underseasoned, so it would have been nice to have salt and…read morepepper available. This is an indoor restaurant- not a cart. Why are they serving food on a plastic tray with a piece of waxed paper? Why am I paying $70 for two people to eat lunch, and they can't even give us plates? Also- I know that rolls of non-absorbent paper on the table is quaint, but it's tacky and wastes more paper than an actual NAPKIN- the kind offered to adults at dine-in restaurants. C'mon - do better. Staff was friendly & was willing to turn down the music. I don't see how this place could possibly be wheelchair accessible.

We have been looking forward to eating Podnah's BBQ, most of my foodie friends love this place. As…read moreyou walk up they have a very large outdoor seating area for at least 80 people, the main entrance has Podnah's name posted within a rustic building. The building is a very casual place, as you walk in the friendly staff greet you and ask you to take a seat wherever you like. We decided to sit in the backside of the building it is a very peaceful section by the kitchen, you can smell the amazing smokey scent of the bbq from there. The walls are covered black and white cowboy pictures. As someone mention in their review, parking is a little challenging but we found parking in the neighborhood within 5 min. The Menu is simple and to the point, one page is drinks the other page is the BBQ, We shared the Pit Boss Platter, you will find that it feeds 2-3, you get a 1/4 pound of brisket and pulled pork, 2 pork ribs, 1 link (very good size) cornbread and your choice of 2 sides, we choose the collard greens and the the green chile mac and cheese. Everything was amazing. It was plenty for the two of us that shared it, we actually took some of it home, I also tied in the pickles, the are served with pickled onions and jalapeños (yummy). The BBQ flavor was amazing, nice and smoky , great smoke rings, they table drop in three different sauces, a vinegar oil, a surprisingly tasty mustard sauce and their house bbq sauce, they are all great tasting. My son ordered the 2 meat plate, he loved the Brisket and Ribs, he also tried the Pinto beans with Brisket, they were very tasty. Overall Podnah's lived up to the hype. If you are in the area its worth a try.

So the food is good, but the main issue we all took an issue with is the automatic tip. We ordered…read morecarryout, and it's a mandatory large percentage, regardless. We ended up cutting things out of our order to compensate for that. Honestly, I'm totally fine with restaurants making the food pricier to make up for costs, but adding a huge mandatory tip is a iffy. There are plenty of really good bbq places in the area that will give you comparable food without that. Neither myself or anyone in my party will be going back while this is still present, sadly.

Truly, as impressive as the menu is here, the real secret ingredient is Uncle Earl, himself. His larger-than-life personality, infectious laugh, and genuine hospitality create an experience that feels like visiting an old friend rather than a neighborhood food cart. I settled on The Arnold: a half pound of brisket with a side of mac n cheese and a corn muffin. There are a number of sides to choose from, but the mac sounded appealing to me. Indeed, it was very rich and satisfying, but the meat is why people flock to this food cart! Tender, sweet and salty, and oh, so delicious; this is the barbecue I've been missing in my life! I love supporting businesses that embrace community, and Uncle Earl's manages to do that very well. Just take a look at these reviews and you'll find it very clear folks here go out of their way to make sure customers have a positive experience and enjoy their food. What more can you ask for?

He was right on time, set everything up for us, and gave us lots of extra bbq sauce for FREE! The food was amazing! The temperature was perfect, the ribs were OUTSTANDING and the potato salad was AMAZING! Even those family members who don't normally like potato salad enjoyed this recipe. It was such a pleasure to meet Uncle Earl. We chose his bbq over others because of the many great reviews he has on Yelp. We are so glad we did and we will be ordering it again. You cannot go wrong with Uncle Earl!
