It came with plantain chips and mixed black beans and rice. Delicious!! We got there at about 6:40 and didn't realize they closed at 7. We offered to take our food to to when it got close to closing and our waitress wouldn't hear anything about it, so we stayed and ate along with a couple other tables. Unpretentious and delicious. This is my family's first stop every morning when we come to Miami Beach! Whether getting Cuban sandwiches or breakfast platters with combinations of eggs/sausage/potatoes/pancakes, we always have a amazing meal and leave happy. The Cuban coffee here is incredible -- I look forward every year to coming back and getting that shot of rich, sweet, strong coffee that is hard to find outside Miami. The diner has a no-frills, hole in the wall vibe but it's clean with plenty of seating and kind staff. After looking up various restaurants, we've picked the Latin Cafe. I hate to give a bad review and I don't know how anyone could say this is a good Restaurant. The atmosphere was horrible. I'm so sorry to say this, but I do not recommend this place, do not go. I don't care what all those reviews say. It is the worst Cuban food I've ever had in my life! We had the Cuban sandwiches and they were terrible. The bread was like cardboard. The inside of the sandwich had no flavor. It was just so bad I can't even express words. My mother got pork chops that were undercooked and she ended up sending them back and then they overcooked them, and they had no flavor. The only thing that I tasted that was halfway good was the moros/rice. Even the Tostones weren't even good. How do you mess up Tostones? And the Papa Relleno was terrible, both had no flavor whatsoever. They were the worst ones I've ever had. I grew up in Miami. I am not Latin, but I do know my Latin food. My best friend is Latin. I grew up, always eating Latin food with her and her mom. All I can say is don't go don't even give it a try. I promise you will be disappointed. The bland, dry rice wasn't good, and the black beans came in a little bowl where I couldn't even see the beans because it was so watery. The fried plantains were the best I've had though with the crispy outer skin. The server wasn't pleasant, rushed us with our ordering, threw our food down when it came out, never checked in once - the only time I saw her smile was when getting our check. Got a craving for Cuban food. I don't often, but when I do I tend to try different places since I haven't been completely fulfilled with the previous places I've tried. This place had decent reviews, so I gave it a try. I ordered the ham and cheese empanadas, same with croquettes, rice and beans, plantains, and churros. Everything was tasty, and the croquettes were huge! my only complaint would be the churros. When I picked it up I noticed it wasn't greasy (good sign), but that's because it was very under cooked. Friendly, sweet servers, quick service. We came for breakfast and ordered off the appetizer/lunch menu because we wanted to try different things. My favorite of what we ordered was the batido de trigo ($5)- this one tastes like the sugary milk leftover after you eat frosted flakes or some other sweet cereal, it was SO good I couldn't slow down to make it last. Definitely would get again. We ordered empanadas de carne and jamón y queso, both were good (the carne was a nice texture, it was more like finely shredded than ground) but my husband and I both liked the jamón y queso best. The papa relleno was YUMMY. So perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Ordered pancakes for my son. I don't recommend them, even though they had good flavor and were thick, they were dry on their own and needed the syrup (which was provided). Café con leche was yummy, good, smooth, not bitter. Came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. We walked here from our hotel which took about 10 minutes. The atmosphere was welcoming, very homey feel. Seems like there are a lot of regulars here, so that's a sign that it's a good place to try for some authentic South American cuisine. We were greeted by a friendly server. The menu was pretty extensive. There were Argentinian, Peruvian, and of course Cuban dishes. There were so many choices and variety of things we wanted to try we couldn't decide on what we wanted. We opt for a chicken and beef empanada, wife got a steak sandwich, and I went for a Cuban sandwich. The beef empanada was my favorite over the two, and the Cuban was excellent. I'm really surprised that this place has 4 stars on Yelp. My boyfriend and I decided to come here for lunch and ordered a cuban sandwich, a beef empanada, and two cuban coffees. Not only was the customer service terrible, the food was very average as well. Upon walking in the restaurant, it is not immediately clear that the back counter is where you would order take-out. Once we were directed to go to the back, the lady at the counter looked very uninterested in taking our order and gave us eye rolls for not specifying what kind of empanada and cuban coffee we wanted. Then we waited probably over 15 minutes for them to press grill a pre-made cuban sandwich from the fridge and to put a already fried empanada in a paper bag. The restaurant wasn't even busy. Food was excellent, but I recommend being selective with your sides. We enjoyed all of them except the beans. Yucca was the star! We ordered pepper chicken, steak, Cuban sandwich and pork chunks and everybody was very happy with their meal. We tried the quatro leches afterwards and, although it came out looking overly sweet with its browned frosting, it was actually the best leches cake we'd ever eaten. Got the baby churrasco which was pretty much the size of a regular churrasco but only costs $10. the chimichurri sauce was also excellent and had just the right amount of acid. This Latin Cafe has been my go to for lunch at work when I'm craving Latin food. It's near by (Mount Sinai Medical Center) and it was a quick delivery with no minimum. I've tried pretty much everything from here.. breakfast tortillas are good, comes with Cuban toast YUM and cafe con leche. Lunch is my favorite though. Not to mention the portions are huge so a lot of the times me and Crys can share a plate. The morro is pretty darn good. Their Pechuga de pollo a la planca, bistec a la plancha, masitas de puerco, pollo frito, vaca frita, oh and their chicken soup is my favorite... I mean everything is delicious. I order at about 11am and my food is here before noon. That's a plus because not a lot of places here on the beach delivers that quick. There has been occasions where half of my order gets left behind or I received the wrong order but they quickly send a driver over with the right things and at time's they'll give me free maduros or dessert for my next order even though I always forget to claim them LOL. I would say for take out make sure everything is there and give them a call if you're missing something they will send it to you. For dine in, it is a rather smaller restaurant and it's located on 41st street so parking is horrible. It's kind of loud and smokey since they're cooking in the back and the smell comes to the front, again being a small place. Regardless on eating in or taking out, the food is cheap, quick and pretty good. Def recommend trying at least once. read more

The mouthwatering pork chops were perfectly seasoned with salt and deliciousness. The steak stir fry was pretty good, almost reminded me of fajitas. But the best part? My skirt steak combo (of course). Juicy, savory skirt steak, served with a side of parsley and garlic-infused oil, as well as plantains and seasoned rice and beans. I have been staying within walking distance of this place so it's convenient, and the food is good but the service can use some help you sit for long periods of time without anyone acknowledging you they will look passed you. Im here now and the same waiter has walked passed me at least 4 times and has not offered to help me, and my waitress is MIA lol. Honestly the food is good but this service is sad. I got the beef and chicken empanadas, which were stuffed with meat and really tasty. I also got the Cuban sandwich, which to be honest was lacking flavor and salty in some parts because the pickle slices were all in the middle instead of spread out, but the bread was toasted well and it was packed with meat and cheese. Ran in to get a Cuban sandwich on my way to the airport. The place was packed with Cubanesque looking folk, so I was excited about ordering lunch. When I asked about potential side orders, the lady at the register recommended the plaintains. However, she seemed to be acutely aware of my haste and asked me how much time I could spare for my order. I said 5 minutes. She mentioned the plantains take 15 minutes and asked if I still wanted them. I politely declined and in my mind, I couldn't help but think how thoughtful she was to consider my time! She got my order in fast and I paid while I waited. There isn't much space to wait for a to-go order, so I stood around, dodging waitresses. In roughly 5 minutes, the Cuban sandwich was done and I was out the door. But on my way out, I caught a glimpse of the gals making coffee up front. I inquired about a cortadito and they made me one with sugar to-go super fast! And it was only a dollar! Oh man that cortadito was the perfect addition to my sandwich. Such a tasty little coffee drink. I could drink 10 of those but I'm not sure I'd sleep well. The Cuban sandwich was pretty big and full of melty cheese. The ham was thick-cut and good quality. I enjoyed half of it hot, right after they made it. The other half, I enjoyed cold, on my flight home. It was still tasty! I'm glad I stopped by this place on my way out. The lowdown: authentic Cuban food at cheap prices, considering it's Miami Beach. The location: It sits right on 41st, which was a convenient 10 minute walk from our hotel as we crossed Indian Creek.
