First timing coming here to do laundry. Very spacious and clean. They have carts that u can use for your laundry And a dispenser if you forget detergent. I didn't explore very much of this place. I used a machine where I can just swipe my credit card, very easy to use. They also have a food truck outside so you can grab some tacos while you wait for your laundry. read more

Laundry day is sad day in my life and is never a pleasant experience, so it's difficult to write a positive review. Someone somewhere needs to figure out how to make doing laundry into a FUN experience so that I can write a 5-star review for a laundromat someday. That said, I hate coming here, but it must be doing its job satisfactorily because I keep choosing it as the venue for this necessary evil in my life. I love the fact that this place uses re-loadable cards for payment, completely eliminating the need to deal with quarters. But that and its sheer size are about the only things remarkable about this place. The machines work fine, some better than others, same with dryers... nothing noteworthy except that there are a LOT of them. And lots of different sizes as well. Even when it's crowded I've never yet had to wait for washers or dryers. I don't always get my first choice of machines and/or folding areas, but I get it done. It's much better to come during non-peak hours (so later in the evening or even on a week night) to avoid the flocks of children playing racing games with the laundry carts and/or pushy women elbowing their way in to your folding space. But that's typical, can't blame the mat. The cleanliness is so/so - clean compared to a public bus, but far from restaurant standards. The bathroom is disgusting: just hold it. There are plenty of televisions playing sponge bob and/or sporting events. There are vending machines with both food and laundry supplies and some video games for entertainment. There is a liquor store right across the street where you can get a beverage and a snack while you're waiting for your laundry to finish. It's nice that they have plenty of parking in their lot. It's not-so-nice that the spots are so tiny that you can't open your car door wide enough to fit your laundry basket through without hitting the car next to you. I solve that problem by pulling out and pulling up next to the door to load and unload. Unfortunately, not everyone has that courtesy and some choose the 'dinging the car next to them' option instead. All in all, not a very pleasant experience, but it gets the job done with minimal hassle. read more

I have remained a customer of this business for 5 years. The place is always clean. The employees are nice and helpful. The huge screen TVs play a variety of music and programming. The staff is willing to change channels for the customers. There are plenty of carts and I really like the spacing and number of washing machines and dryers. The owners went to card system that can be loaded up online or in the business. If you have difficulty with the card system the staff will help you. Also, their restrooms are clean and customers can get a token to use the restroom. I live a distance away but I have preferred using this laundry. Excellent Owners! read more

I've been coming here for 1.5 years now, but I'm now very disappointed with the condition of this laundromat. I first came here because it had plenty of working machines, lots of sitting space and a few nice TVs to help pass the time. Unfortunately, an entire wall of dryers were damaged by water but the owner has made no attempt to remedy the situation for several months. It also irritates me that I have lost money on machines when they are not labeled "out of order" and I only come to find they are broken after I've poured in my detergent/softener and the machine won't turn on. I really wish the employees would make more of an effort to label these machines. It may be time to start looking for a new laundromat. read more

It says they have wifi on the window, but they don't. Maybe they did once, but they haven't in a long time. They also say they have dry cleaning on the premises. They don't. That's minus 1 star for each of those. They charge you 3 bucks just to get one of those cards that you have to use. That's minus another star. The place is huge and they have a million washers and dryers. I have never waited for a machine. That's plus one star. They also have some really big machines so you can do everything in one load if you want. Plus half a star. The card is actually pretty convenient to use. That cancels itself out. They have cool little detergents and dryer sheets that you can buy with the card. That's plus one star. Even better, you can use the card to on the soda machines. So I lost count of how many stars this place gets. But it's still only a Laundromat, so it's getting 3 stars. Besides, the front window is a pack of lies. read more

Although I no longer have need for a Laundromat, I still have love for this place. It sooo clean. Ooooh and there are cable TV's and WiFi! There are a lot of machines so I've never had to wait. The best thing is that you don't have to save quarters; the machines are paid for with a rechargable card (even the vending machines). I recognize that its in a scetchy location but i have risked leaving my clothes there to run errands or grab a drink at Chasers (now Soda Bar) 100's of times and I have yet to see someone walking around in my fav t shirt or jeans. Don't forget, Centre Laundry IS a LAUNDROMAT. As previous reviews have mentioned, Centre uses a card-based system instead of coin-op. Whether it's a better deal than your local alternatives is for you to decide. Their pricing, as of this writing, is as follows: Small Upright Wash $1.75 Medium Front Load Wash $2.25 Large Front Load Wash $3.95 Extra Large Front Load Wash $8.25 $.25 per 8 minutes of dryer usage I have a laundry mat at the end of my street that I used to go to simply due to convenience, but my clothes kept getting peach-colored bleach splotches on them. I don't use bleach. I suspect that residual bleach was somehow staying in the inner workings of their washers. Anyway, after a dozen or so occurrences of that, I shook my fist at the sky and swore that place off. I figured I'd give Centre a go. The good patrons of Yelp seem to dig it, after all. There seems to be a lot of talk about Centre being in the ghetto. I don't really see it. I live in Northpark, so maybe I'm just used to it. But I mean...all of SD is a little ghetto unless you live in La Jolla. Just different flavors of "ghetto" depending on where you are. The Pros of Centre are as such: - TONS of washers, dryers, and carts. I've never had to wait. - The card system (pricing aside) is very convenient. I hate dealing with quarters. - My clothes have yet to get effed up with bleach splotches in their washers. That's a big plus for me. The Cons: - I do suspect that you get taxed a little for the convenience of the card system. - For such a big place, there aren't too many places to sit. There are some benches along the windows and two tables in front. My biggest gripe with this place, by far, has to do with the staff. They lounge around like a bunch of bums all day and it's very unappealing from this customer's perspective. They treat the place like their home away from home instead of a business. One of the two aforementioned tables is invariably taken up by the staff members. You can tell who they are because they're wearing yellow polo shirts. That just seems lame to me. I mean, common, those tables are for customers. They sit around watching TV all day. The janitor is the worst of all. I've seen that old-timer with his shoes off, laying down on one of the folding counters, watching TV like he was in his own living room. It weirds me out. read more

It's a bright, clean, shining beacon of clean laundry smell. They have awesome hours, nice girls who work there and are attentive {not on cell phones, how the bar has lowered}, a couple arcade machines, snack machines, benches outside and tons and tons and tons and TONS; I repeat AMPLE machines. It isn't cramped, hot or needing more seating like most lavanderias. I don't care if I had to pay 3.00 to buy a card to load, it's worth it to not have to lug around quarters. Hell, if they charged a membership fee I'd happily pay it, too! Word to the wise, the liquor store across the street always has something entertaining going on WITHOUT FAIL. After trying many laundromats in San Diego, this one is my regular place to go. For a few reasons: -They have the eight load washers; I can cram all of my dark clothes and my gf's dark clothes in one of these. -They also have discounts on certain days, which helps a lot. -The place is always clean. -They have numerous vending machines and arcade games. There are 4 tvs that place a variety of shows including mexican soap operas, cartoons and kid shows, and sports. -They have the huge dryers that you can use for your blankets and comforters. read more

C'mon don't be scerrrred of the 'hood. There are quite a few gems. I wouldn't quite categorize Centre Laundry as one of them BUT..it's the perfect place for internet junkies to multi task (insert geeky snort...adjust glasses). I've even seen someone in there videoconferencing...be still my geeky heart. I don't think you can ever go there and NOT find available, working machines. And the staff were super friendly to me...even gave me a free card...usually you have to pay something like $3 just for the card but they had some deal for newbies. read more

I think the thing that really sells this place is the re-loadable cards. No longer do I have to hoard my quarters like gold doubloons, JOY. It was clean and the staff seemed to be active in trying to keep it that way. There are tons of machines to use. They have the mega-huge-load washers which was great for doing my comforter, blankets, and sheets in one load. The machines all have a good spin cycle so the clothes didn't come out dripping wet. Which meant drying times were super short, 16 min on most of my loads. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because when I went they had blocked off about half the place for cleaning the floors, which meant things were a bit more cramped. read more

Hands down the biggest laundromat I've ever been to, not that I've been to that many, but since an inhouse washer is no longer a luxury for me, this is where I go. If you don't want to deal with quarters then this place is great because because they have their own cash card system. There is a good selection of washer/dryers depending on how cheap you are or how fast you need your clothes done. Because it's massive, I've never had to wait for someone else to use a machine. And they have carts to move your laundry around--just don't try to steal one or you'll look dumb like I did. The minuses, It's in a notoriously bad neighborhood. While having a smoke break outside I witnessed a hooker pickup a client along El Cajon Blvd. There are tons of kids running around on weekends. Its a laundromat. I like how they use laundry debit cards instead of coins. It makes my pocket lighter. You can wash and dry about 3 weeks worth of a single guys clothes for 10 bucks. Well...maybe 2 weeks...There are a ton of dryers and washers of all shapes and sizes. The workers there are constantly making the rounds and are very helpful. The vending machines are conveniently expensive so go to the liquor store across the street for a soda. But they do have Area 51, a game i was beast at in 1998. Here, I feel comfortable leaving my clothes in the machines while taking a nap on the folding table or using the secure and relatively clean facilities. read more

Hands down the greatest place outside the home to do laundry. I just moved here, and am currently in a no in-house washer/dryer situation, but this place is not bad. It's huge and so there are always machines... it has free wi-fi (yeah... that's right, I'm writing the review from INSIDE the place) and I don't have to mess with quarters... i can save them for parking meters and avoid another $40 ticket as I failed to do yesterday. I am beyond confused by the "bad neighborhood" reviews... I certainly doubt the brad bunch lives down the block, but nothing that would send you running in the other direction. I like it because they have huge dryers so you can stuff two loads into one. They have different sizes and only .37¢ for 8 minutes! (Medium size) One time I didn't have a card because I usually don't do my laundry here. The manager waived the $3 fee for the card and paid for my laundry to dry and I paid him in cash for it! Very nice of him. 5 stars for that and for the fact that it has wifi, family friendly, not dirty, cable tv, big parking lot, and a lounge area with vending machines full of snacks!! read more

I just switched to this laundry mat 3 weeks algo because it's closer to where I live. I completely regret it!! I've gone there twice the first time I had no problems. They have a lot of machines so it was quick and efficient. The second time everything was fine until I pulled my kids comforters from the dryer. They were BURNT crinkled fabric and the stuffing in the inside was hard. I let the attendant know what happened without having to tell her which dryer it was she already knew. She pointed at the one next to it saying that it tends to heat up more than the rest. Yet there is no sign anywhere around it warning their customers. I let her know which one it was expecting her to put an out of order sign up but she didn't. She said the only thing I can do was fill out a complaint form and the manager would get in touch. She was very polite which I appreciate but It's been a week and I still haven't heard from anyone. Very angry I have to throw my kids comforters away (which are not cheap) and they've only had for 3 months. Overall upset they won't take responsibility when they have knowledge their dryers over heat. read more

I apparently forgot to push "start" on the machine before I went back home so when I returned i had paid the 4 bucks for the load but but clothes were still dry and dirty. I had also already taken my soap back home. I let the lady working know and she was a bit annoyed by me (it was dumb of me) but she supplied me with a free load and some soap- which she DIDNT have to do and so I thought that was really cool.... read more

So I have been coming to this place off and on for 10 years. When I first started coming I loved the place and the concept of loading a card with funds. However over the years the place has gone down hill. The place is always a wreck but hey its a laundry mat so I can understand. The place has plenty of machines some of which work better then others. Like going to the casino pick one and hope it "pays out" LOL. The focal point of this review is the fluff and fold service. I no longer have the time to do my laundry so I've been using various places that offer reasonable prices with reasonable service. Now I'm a 47 yr. old construction worker and just not that picky. However I do like some consistence and I really like my laundry folded a certain way. But since someone else is doing the job at a reasonable price I will take it how they fold it. I have been bringing my clothes to be done fore me for probably 2 years. Here is my complaint Every single week I go over the same request with often the same person. the request go as follows...Please no hangers and don't put everything in one bag. I never get my laundry split (usually 20-30lbs) and I only ask because it never fails on the way home this big bag of folded laundry falls over and everything becomes a mess. I ask for no hangers because as you north park residents know the closet space is small. So it has suits alone in it. My big complaint. Nothing is ever folder the same SEE PICS. Now maybe its just me and I'm quirky, I don't know. Is it unreasonable to ask that all my pants be folded the same way, or my shirts or anything else. Not even saying week after week, although that would be ideal! the photos are from one visit not different weeks but the same week AAARRGGG! so when I put mu stuff away I either have to refold or have different stacks of the same item. Is the price good if I have to refold myself? So anyone with a laundry service drop me a line and Centre your on notice! lol If you don't care about how your clothes are folded or have tons of space. This place is for you. If you do, better pay more and go somewhere else. read more

Bad service. This is the 2nd time I come, I used the Speed Queen (3 loads) heavy hot water for $3.88 and I get freezing water. If I am paying for hot can someone please explain to me why it comes cold? I told the guy who is always here. All I get from him another useless washer and instead of a heavy load (which is what I PAID) on the the previous one. He puts the washer on light. WTH. What a ripped off. Radio Room a couple blocks down if you need stronger fortification. + sublime people watching. and not too many screaming kids. + fluff and fold service for when you have more money than time. a buck-something a pound, when last I used it. - occasionally shady element. watching out the El-Cajon Blvd facing windows is like a Sea World Hooker Encounter. Except the glass doesn't make the hookers look extra big & menacing. that's just really how they look. +/- a dozen or so TVs all tuned to different station with different volumes. The place is very clean and has the BIG washers and driers! I could do ALL THE LAUNDRY! Yay! However, the card is $3 up front, which is OK and I can live with that and all, except the attendant will not give you your money back if you put too much on your card which I did by $15 (which could've been beer money, yo!). I don't know if this place is going through a transition, but I went to Vegas laundry yesterday and it was DISGUSTING. Tons of washers were in disrepair, the place smelled foul, and I hate their card system with a passion. (You have to pay $3 just to buy the card!) However, the attendant was very helpful and since I was there super late, was able to get me set up without having to use the card (this is my back up laundry place). I really think they are probably re-doing the place which is why it was so nasty in there, but you could tell some areas had not been cleaned in... years. Maybe in a month or two they will have it all renovated or something. In the meantime, go elsewhere. read more
