This restaurant deserves a ZERO rating due to its arrogant, unprofessional, uninformed and disrespectful owner, Nico. It was my birthday and I was entertaining 2 guests. I had my Service Animal noted in the reservation. The Mgr gave me a very hard time when checking in. She finally decided to seat us on the Porch instead of the Dining Room. Illegal. She asked for papers that certified my Service Dog. There are no such certifications, period. We were finally seated on said Porch when she handed me her cell phone. Nico, the owner, told me to LEAVE bc I couldn't supply documentation that my dog was a Service animal. Illegal. The ADA protects the disabled, period. Nico, violated the law. A formal complaint has been filed with the US Dept of Justice. PLEASE DO NOT DINE AT ANY OF NICO's 3 Restaurants, if this experience means anything to you. Nico was acting in a non- compliant manner that is against our Federal Government's ADA Law that protects the disabled. I simply suggested he take 10 minutes to review the LAW and it's requirements, online. He flat out refused. He said he already had taken 10 minutes of his time by speaking to me. That's rude. Not cool. NOT LEGAL. Period. To Nico: The world's recently been thru enough. And most human beings are kinder from their experiences. You sir, are a very poor example of one of them. I've been waiting patiently for Summerville to get some authentic Italian food. Laura definitely hit the mark. The outdoor patio is lovely with great ambiance, and the staff was fantastic, a feature I find most restaurants are lacking these days. The food was remarkable and at a good price point. Although, I felt some items, like the bread, were a bit overpriced. I will definitely be back. There is an extensive menu of tasty looking options. Hands down the best bread I've had in my life!! All of our food was amazing! We are visiting from out of town for a few days and are trying to squeeze this place into our trip one last time before we have to leave. Our server was amazing and explained the who menu to us which was very kind. We were here to celebrate our first year anniversary and received a cup of complementary gelato, it was FANTASTIC! Very overpriced especially for the small portions. I ordered scallops with pea pesto. It was basically 2 large scallops cut in half and cost $32! The pesto lacked taste. The octopus was delicious and my Lobster Trottole tasted great. Unfortunately, I found a hair, appeared to have been an eyelash, and didn't finish it. My server, who was lovely, got the manager who apologized and offered me soup. Another staff member came by and offered to make me another pasta, which I declined. The expectations were high, given that they were booked for several weeks out and we snagged a table at the last minute. The mussels were quite good and enough for two to share. I had the veal and was quite disappointed. The meat was dry and appeared overcooked- but the worst part was the saltiness. Too much salt pork- top crunchy, bottom soggy. The Tiramisu was other-worldly and enough for a family. Was not impressed with this establishment. it was way over priced ( like three times what the food was worth). Staff was very friendly and food did come out fast, the prices on things is crazy. Italian restaurant that doesn't serve bread unless you order it and for 7 dollars was dry and unflavored. So unless someone changes the prices I will not be going back. read more

My Wide and I decided to go here for dinner while on our honeymoon, and from the moment we sat down, the service was impeccable. Every member of staff there were exceedingly friendly. Everyone was very quick to congratulate us on new marriage. Our server was very sweet and checked on us continually throughout our meal. My wife ordered the lasagna and I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, and both entrees were delicious and exceeded expectations. The woman who we believe to be the owner or head manager gave us a dessert on the house when hearing that we had just gotten married. The restaurant is beautifully designed the bar area is nicely set up, you can make. Reservation at the bar. The drinks are reasonable and the restaurant has a nice selection of wines that are reasonably priced. The appetizers are all delicious by the time I made my third trip I was able to try each one. My wife and I went to Laura to celebrate our 44th wedding anniversary. Everything went ok with reservations. We were seated and the waitress came to take our drink orders. Happy Hour was advertised as 4-6 PM with $4.00 well cocktails. My wife requested a glass of red wine, and I asked what the house bourbon was. The waitress replied, "Four Roses Small Batch." OK, I'll do that. Prior to dinner we received a Happy Anniversary card. Dinner came and was very good, although some of my pasta was overcooked. I'm not that picky, so I overlooked that. We ordered strawberry cheesecake for dessert (very good), and it arrived with gelato which we didn't order. Oh, well, probably an anniversary present, right? Second glass of wine for my wife, second bourbon for me. Then the waitress brought two glasses of champagne to us and another "Happy Anniversary!" When the check arrived, I looked, and I was charged $36.00 for the two glasses of bourbon and $6.00 for the gelato we didn't order. I asked for an explanation on the bourbon and was told that was an upgrade!?! I reminded her I asked for the house bourbon, at which time she became apologetic and said she was upset and would call the manager over if I wished. Rather than make a scene I let it slide. Our total bill was just shy of $150.00 plus tip. My opinion? For better food, lower prices, and no hassles, go to Mondo's Delight on James Island. 14 oz ribeye, salad, white pizza and 4 meatballs $140.00. Ribeye was grizzly with small prices of bone in it. Meatballs were overcooked and tough, had to use a knife to cut them. Sauce was good, Caesar salad was average but did have 2 small white anchovies on top. White pizza was what you would expect but not special. Service was good, nice, friendly and prompt. Very disappointing. Very expensive and the value is not there. My husband ordered veal saltimbocca (sauce tasted like weed lol) for $39.00 and had To order pizza (carne) and Was totally disappointed (There was no pork belly like it described). My bronzini was on point but the veggies were a little to roasted (almost burnt). Bread was very salty and had to send it back. Everything is ala cart. We were so excited to visit this restaurant being that we had to make a reservation almost 3 weeks out. We've heard good reviews and decided we were going to give it a try. I have to say it was hugely loud couldn't hear the waitress talk about the specials or what she recommended had to ask her twice. My husband ordered the whole fish that was on the special and was told they were out. But then another couple that came and sat down next to us the gentleman ordered and was brought a whole fish weird. I mean if it wasn't available for the special anymore she could have recommended it off the regular menu so he ordered a different fish. Had no taste very bland the bread was horrible the only thing good about the whole meal for him were the cannolis. The other couple that went with us one had the lasagna and one had the gnocchi and he asked for salt and pepper to salt it down to give it taste. I on the other hand have the chicken stuffed with the mozzarella and I have to say it was fantastic and I have to agree with the other view of the drink the Laura was probably the best part of my meal. this was very disappointing especially for the high-end pricing that they have. We probably won't be back but for those of you that get five star ratings maybe we had an off night I don't know but one off night and I'm done. read more

I am sad to report this as my first visit was amazing BUT I visited Laura again and was so disappointed. I went for a friends birthday and it was 7 of us which yes is a large group and I took that into consideration when writing this. The food was still great but no where near the standards it was at my first visit which was in the first week of opening. I would have thought that visit would have needed improvement not after they have been open for a while. Service was eh. My biggest complaint of the visit was that at the end of the night we were handed one check and told as of last week they don't split bills... so 7 individuals were put on one bill which was not a little bill. If we were told this at the beginning of the night it would have been ok still not great but at least we would have known. We then Had to figure out who was going to foot this huge bill and then sit and split it up appropriately. I understand 7 individual bills is a pain but we are paying customers and seems absurd to do this. Say I go with my husband and another couple are you going to not allow us to split our check like we were told you can't do?!? Or Imagine a group comes in that has been saving to try your restaurant and no one has the means to foot the bill and be paid back later... it was honestly a huge put off to spend what I spent on subpar food and then to be told they can't split a check. I hate to write this as I loved my first visit and was so excited for my friends to try it finally and it was such a disappointment for us all. read more

I hesitate to write this because I don't normally do reviews, but I was really disappointed with our experience here. My wife and I came for our anniversary and were really looking forward to it. I want to say positives first, my blood orange martini was tasty and the place is very cute. Other than that I don't have a lot of great things to say. We got the mussels to start and we are both concerned that we may have food poisoning tomorrow. They were sandy and tasted like river water. We were disappointed we had to pay extra for bread (which was extremely salty) then she ordered the bucatini and i the gnocchi. Neither of which was very seasoned at all, we weren't offered pepper or cheese. My gnocchi was square and so dense I thought it had to have been mixed with the bread. Our waitress seemed like she was completely uninterested in our table or our experience. We were so unimpressed and disappointed we got the check and skipped dessert.
