We dined with them on their opening night. From the food to the service, the experience was exceptional! We started with the Mussels, Octopus and Beef Carpaccio. We loved everything but the octopus dish blew me away! I order octopus whenever it is on a menu and I can honestly say this was one of the best, if not THE best, in presentation and taste that I have had ever. My daughter and husband already want to go back for more of the Carpaccio as this was her favorite. For the primo round, we ordered the gnocchi, bucatini and pappardelle fungo. All of it was delicious but the gnocchi exceeded any expectations I held for gnocchi previously! From the secondo menu, we tried the pork shank , veal scallopini and the naked fish. The pork shank fell off the bone and was so tender. I will be honest that the veal was probably our least favorite item of the night. If you haven't already, you need to get a reservation. You will not be disappointed and honestly, if you are, then you may not know what good food is. We even took our 10 year old and our 15 year old with us and they enjoyed it just as much as we did. Our server was wonderful and extremely attentive as was the rest of the staff. I am so grateful that Chef Nico and his team chose Summerville as the home for his new concept! Caught them less than a week into opening and you would have never guessed. From our waiter who was friendly and knowledgeable to the open kitchen where we could see our dishes getting prepared, it was like a well oiled machine. I understand they are taking fewer reservations to start, but with what I've seen they will be rocking it out before long. My first visit on Mother's Day was so disappointing. They gave our table to someone else after they said we had a fifteen minute window which we were in. We were put at the bar. Have you ever had watery lasagna. It wasn't good. My son was not impressed either. We both felt it certainly did not met our expectations. We will never go there again. We went here to celebrate MY Mother's Day. We've been here a couple times prior in the year they've been open and it was pretty good the first time but has seemed to hav digress each time after and now it's to the point we will not return. We started with the focaccia bread and arancini which was ok. I ordered the chicken dish and firstly it would be nice for the menu to mention it's dark meat on the bone and not a chicken breast. Secondly they served me OLD tasting chicken like it was cooked long ago and reheated and it was so disgusting I immediately had spit it out. I wanted to be able to try to enjoy my mother's day dinner with my family so I accepted their offer of something else and ordered the agnolotti with shrimp but when it came to the table I instantly noticed they served me RAW shrimp. UNBELIEVABLE! At this point I was so disappointed I just started to cry. Why is this happening to me during my Mother's Day celebration? Needless to say I got no dinner that night. They did try to make amends with some comps and dessert but the night that was meant to celebrate and pamper me was ruined. Nico, what makes this that much worse is that you were there in the kitchen sending out plates and I couldn't believe you allowed raw shrimp to leave your kitchen after you served me old chicken. I was absolutely livid. Every dish that leaves your kitchen has your name on it whether you cooked it or not. You sent not one but TWO inedible dishes to me. You say your restaurant, Laura named after your grandmother, is built around family and because of you I wasn't able to eat dinner with my family on Mother's Day. read more

Let me start out by saying the parking is not that good here. Now for the good, our meatball appetizer was outstanding. Service was outstanding and polite and amiable and a great knowledge of the menu! The Manager Wendy came by and asked if we were doing ok. Nice! Everyone's pasta dishes were very very good and ample for us. Some may not think so but for all of us, we were satisfied. We shared a Cannoli dessert of two and they were not completely filled and were decent tasting but not the best I've had. Three of us had espresso drinks with Sambuca and were outstanding! i got the day off on a sunday, and felt like dressing up and taking myself out to a restaurant i'd never been before for some wine and good food. after some searching on here, i found laura and decided to give it a go because i love italian! from the second i pulled into the parking lot, i was captivated by this place. the inside is beautiful and the patio was so serene. anna was my server and she was an absolute angel, and the food was divine. i'll definitely be back with friends and family--i thoroughly enjoyed my experience and want to extend it to them too. 10/10 would recommend stopping by sometime, it was amazing! read more

Good, not great. Visited recently for the first time on my wife's birthday. Service was good, but timing was out of sorts. Although the entrees came out quickly and were good. Wish there were more options without pork or beef. Was looking forward to mussels, but learned they just replaced them for another dish containing octopus....(watch the Netflix documentary My Octopus Teacher). The kicker was my wife mentioned that it was her birthday and the waitress brought a gelato with a candle. Nice touch, but we really didn't want it. We had already ordered Kailua and coffee. When the bill arrived I was surprised to see a $6 charge for the gelato I didn't order or really even want. Not wanting to spoil the vibe I let it pass and paid the tab. I hope it was just a mistake. It's nice to see nicer dining options coming to Summerville, but in my opinion Laura needs some work to be great. read more

We live extremely close to this restaurant in Summerville. This is the first time we have visited. We took our 11 year old son and it was amazing. The server Lucy was amazing and super excited that she finally encountered a kid that didn't order pizza!! Our son definitely enjoyed his ribeye!! This restaurant deserves a ZERO rating due to its arrogant, unprofessional, uninformed and disrespectful owner, Nico. It was my birthday and I was entertaining 2 guests. I had my Service Animal noted in the reservation. The Mgr gave me a very hard time when checking in. She finally decided to seat us on the Porch instead of the Dining Room. Illegal. She asked for papers that certified my Service Dog. There are no such certifications, period. We were finally seated on said Porch when she handed me her cell phone. Nico, the owner, told me to LEAVE bc I couldn't supply documentation that my dog was a Service animal. Illegal. The ADA protects the disabled, period. Nico, violated the law. A formal complaint has been filed with the US Dept of Justice. PLEASE DO NOT DINE AT ANY OF NICO's 3 Restaurants, if this experience means anything to you. Nico was acting in a non- compliant manner that is against our Federal Government's ADA Law that protects the disabled. I simply suggested he take 10 minutes to review the LAW and it's requirements, online. He flat out refused. He said he already had taken 10 minutes of his time by speaking to me. That's rude. Not cool. NOT LEGAL. Period. To Nico: The world's recently been thru enough. And most human beings are kinder from their experiences. You sir, are a very poor example of one of them.
