So the place is not where gps tells you it is. We parked by Eva's and should've just stayed there since Laura's was actually across the railroad tracks. We had reservations for when they opened and they already had a house full. Got seated at 11:07 so getting in was quick. The environment is pleasant. Being able to see the cooks isn't always lovely but in this case it was nice. We got a mimosa and I was gonna get an Affogoto but forgot all about it when we actually ordered. I really wish people aka servers would introduce themselves or let the tables know who they are especially if they are not going to wear name tags it makes it easier to be nice especially for me IMO. SO Katie F was our server but we found out from the receipt at the end. We got an order of focaccia with butter to eat a couple of pieces and sol up the bolognese sauce. By the time the food got to the table which was 63 minutes the bread was cold. I ordered Steak and Eggs (medium and over easy). It was pretty good. My eggs had some cracked shells in it and one was over medium but the other was perfect. Odd considering they were cooked together. Steak was difficult to cut because the plate kept sliding on the table but it was cooked perfectly which was well made. I also found 2 purple potatoes. There was truly an abundance of fingerling potatoes. Gravy on the steak needed some bites to get used to. First couple of bites, I wasn't crazy about but towards the end it was amazing. Wish I had focaccia bread to dip into my eggs and steak gravy. The few cold focaccia pieces we did have left did sop up the gravy quite well. I wasn't crazy about Laura's Bolognese prob because of the sausage. Danny did enjoy it though and ended up having to take what's left home to go. The pasta was al dente and well made. We were asked several times about our meal by Katie along with a lady in a jacket (I assume she's a manager). I kept my comments to myself cuz I don't think I would have been fair but they each did acknowledge and apologized for the time it took to get our meal. My go to dessert is always a tiramisu. Katie described it as a goblet. The mood I was in I was not going to give this business anymore money than I had to but Danny wanted to get a cannoli and there were two per order so we got it. It took a good minute to get to us and I was truly getting even more irritated as people around us were leaving that got there after we sat down. We got the cannolis with no explanation of what the sauces were and like I said I was irritated (I don't think that it was visible but I did shut down when approached by the staff). When our check was presented to us Katie did apologize again for our long wait and said the cannolis were not charged to us as they understand we had waited awhile for our food. Redemption. I don't like to give negative reviews but I started this review as a 1-star which I don't give out often. I also had no intention of ever returning. I appreciate when employees acknowledge and see the customer perspective. They were able to show some appreciation and acknowledge a flaw in their service. I don't know why my gps says there's a biscuit belly in Summerville when there isn't one. But we decided to go to Laura for brunch. The customer service is top notch and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. We ordered the Burrata and it was so delicious. I had the Laura drink with limoncello, Prosecco and lemon sorbet, my favorite drink there. I ordered the Italian Benedict and it was so good. It's a lot of food and I couldn't eat it all. My husband ordered the French toast with the peach compote and ricotta cream and he enjoyed it. The dishes are very generous in size so expect to have some food to go or leave it be. Returned to Laura for my birthday tonight after stopping in previously and experiencing great service. On this visit, service was average, and although they knew from the reservation that it was my birthday, it was not acknowledged the same as others. The food we had was very good, as well as the bottle of wine and cocktails ordered. During our visit, two other tables were celebrating birthdays, and a small birthday treat was brought to the table and the servers sang "Happy Birthday", They did not do this for me, which was rather disappointing and off putting as we are accustomed to excellent Southern hospitality in the Charleston area. Considering the price point versus the lackluster service, our next special occasion meal will likely be celebrated elsewhere with a higher level of care and service. read more

Delicious birthday brunch at Laura's. The Bellini was a great way to start off the meal. We also started with the burrata which was good but the highlight was the focaccia bread (I could seriously just eat that all day- it was so good). We all tried something different and passed plates so we could try it all. The ricotta omelet was a favorite amongst everyone and the French toast was almost like a bread pudding and it was delicious. Not pictured was the carbonara which had homemade noodles. Finished the meal with the espresso martini which was amazing! The attention to detail is incredible. Excellent service and since we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out complementary champagne for a toast (and a fancy glass of ginger ale for a guest who wasn't drinking but was able to still be included) and a gelato for the birthday girl. Beautiful table setups make it feel homey and fancy but if sitting at a table isn't your vibe, there is seating at the bar. We saw several couples sitting there enjoying a drink and pizza (I must try the blanco next time). Let me tell you, people are sleeping on brunch at Laura's. Our daughter had wished to visit her namesake restaurant going on a few years, so wallets stuffed full of Biden-inflated dollars, we descended upon Laura for an evening of food, drink, and frivolity. Overall, the entire experience was quite positive. The place has an air of fine dining -- on the busy end of the scale, but there's somewhat of a frisson about the place. Wine, starters, and mains were good, though I dare say the marinara was not quite up to fine dining snuff -- I had expected better given the price tag and the rest of the experience. Service was very attentive, though for us it bordered on uncomfortable. We truthfully could've gone without the backstory of the restaurant, the owner, and a full rundown of the menu, the questions about our history with the restaurant, how we'd heard of it, and the attendant chumminess of our waiter. One might prefer, shall we say, a more restrained, less overtly conversational approach from wait staff. The pace of the dinner service was relaxed -- which is just the way I like it. We didn't feel rushed, and we felt at ease to enjoy ourselves and each other's company, which may be one of the most important aspects of dining that so many other restaurants seem to overlook. Laura is good! Took a few minutes to be greated by our waitress but was a fine experience. Felt a tad rushed. I was drinking wine & she brought the bill after asking if we wanted dessert and we said no. I told her to add one more drink to the bill because I wasn't done & she didn't give any attitude which was good. The angolotti was good but not as lemony as described. This place has a pretty good happy hour (I'm talking $5 wine!) The service was really nice as we sat at the bar, so the server was never too far away. I enjoyed the Casarecce "Laura Bolognese", yet the sauce was a little too acidic. My boyfriend enjoyed the Lasagna a Laura and added the meat balls, which were really yummy!! However, the show stopper for us was the Focaccia Bread- this stuff melts in your mouth!! Although, this wasn't my favorite meals, it wasn't the worst either. So creamy, flavoryful, love that bite in the bucatini + the scallops were cooked to perfection. 10/10 i'll get again Pasta 2- Agnolotti, sweet, nutty (pistachio) + a slight tartness from the lemon, even though it's winter, it was a warm day + this is the perfect spring time pasta. I don't think I can eat a whole plate of this, but for me, perfect to share! Pasta 3- Pappardelle Fungo, i LOVE pappardelle, the noodles were just amazing. There was mushroom + pancetta. I wish there were more mushrooms + less pancetta. It was a nice experience, but if I had to eliminate one pasta dish, it would be this one. From start to finish, eating at Laura was a phenomenal experience. There's plenty of parking along the road near the tracks so no worries about feeling cramped. Initially I tried to make a reservation on Resy, but it was already at capacity for the evening! My friend and I would be okay with waiting but when we arrived, the front staff was super accommodating and sat us down quickly. Upon sitting down, we were greeted by Anna and later Marisa. Truthfully each staff member is incredibly kind and hospitable so kudos to the entire team for staying on top of their A-game; constantly filling our water cups, checking in on us without feeling rushed, asking our thoughts about the flavors of the meal. For drinks I went with a glass of Pinot Grigio and my friend got The Laura, a delightfully whimsy cocktail. For starters my friend and I got the mussels and octopus. The mussels had a nice spicy kick to it with the Calabrian chili in the broth, very plump mussels. This was my first time trying octopus and the flavors + slight char of the octopus flowed nicely with the texture - excellent preparation. I enjoyed that dish with its glory of pesto, polenta, prosciutto, and artichoke. For the main event I got the lasagna. Not your typical ground beef here but shreds of braised beef with a good amount of mozzarella and Parmesan served in a personal dish. I tried my friend's gnocchi and appreciated the herb crumb topping with the creamy cheese. The sides picked included polenta and the gnocchetti - both equally flavorful. To finish the meal, a sweet ending was a must so went with the cannolis. I liked the fluffiness of the cream, tasted a hint of amaretto it seems. The dippy sauces on the side included rich chocolate and a pistachio anglaise of some sort (?) I saw someone comment about the cappuccino on here so wanted to give it a try and it did not disappoint. Well made! Overall major compliments to the chef and staff. The plates had unique designs, tasteful choice in the crystal glassware, great use of space for the restaurant with the indoor and outdoor bar, ample space between tables/patrons. It's so refreshing to have fine dining here in Summerville vs. driving all the way downtown or Mt Pleasant. Can't wait to share this spot with friends, visitors, coworkers, and more! read more

I was really excited for a different flavor cheesecake every month because we don't have a good cheesecake place in Summerville. He took a couple bites, complained but for $14 a piece ended up eating it. It was definitely nothing to write home about unless you were telling people to not get the cheesecake. As a native NYer (yes, one of those jerks) I've been dying for a good Italian place down here. So unfortunately, and I hate to nitpick, but this place could have been better. However, I wrote this just after its first week, so they're probably working out some things so give them a chance! I can see this place turning into a really special spot, especially since they have a lovely patio. The food was fine, no real big complaints outside of one thing: everything baked was cooked just a little too long. The meatballs tops were pretty hard, the gnocchetti got crunchy on top, and the veal, which was two pieces wrapped in prosciutto, had one really tender piece on the bottom and one kinda tough piece on top. Still tasted good, but anything that went into the oven was slightly overdone. That's easily fixable though. The tiramasu was good, plus you get a HUGE portion of it. My favorite part was probably the mussels, which came in a nicely spiced sauce. Perfect for dipping the focaccia that comes with it. read more

The recipes are from the owner's Grandmother Laura. It was a unique selection and lots of variety for meat and non meat eaters. For the appetizer we split the beet tart. It was yummy. I had the Agnolotti pasta dish and it was excellent. My friend had the Buccatini. Portions were not huge but I still took half home as I am not a gorger. We ordered a popular dessert called Neopolitan Semifreddo to share but neither of us could finish it and we didn't like it - The waitress seemed surprised. ( You asked, I told) It was super sweet made with a cookie crust with a very hard chocolate layer that needed a knife to cut through. She seemed surprised when I told her it wasn't my favorite. I am a sugar aficionado but this was sugar overkill. I wasn't expecting her to remove it from the bill but surprisingly she did. Overall the food was excellent and authentic. The noise level was loud but that's a common theme in restaurants with high ceilings. I'd return again though and try another entree. this was not our first time dining at Laura, so based previous visits, we were very disappointed. Things started out fine with the hostess and our server greeting us warmly. it declined thereafter. Both my scallops and the beet risotto under them were barely warm when they were brought to the table. it seemed to be a long wait to receive them, which I attributed to a fairly active crowd. However, based on the temp of the food I think they were left sitting on the counter before being served. my husband's chicken parm was equally cooled off. Our wine was not served until we were nearly finished with our entrees. The entrees were served when we had no cutlery, so the cooled further. We went here a couple weeks ago on a double date, we sat at the bar and ordered pizzas and some other entrees. I wasn't feeling drinking but their wine list looked good and so did the cocktails. It was a beautiful vibe inside, the service was good. I enjoyed my pistachio pizza. Had mortadella on it which I've never had before but surprisingly liked it. The texture was so interesting from the pistachios but I enjoyed all the flavors. I tried their pepper oil for dipping. It was spicy but I loved the added flavor it gave the pizza. Would recommend asking for it. Someone else got the porcini pizza and that was amazing. Would highly recommend it. I would definitely go back when in the area. We wore very chill outfits because we came from golfing but I feel like you can dress up or dress down for it, no judgment there. Parking was easy.
