This is our second time at Laura's. The agnolotti was quite good and the sauce was bright and refreshing. Our favorite thing of the night. Octopus was good as usual. The foccacia was very fluffy and filling--served with whipped ricotta I believe. I think it's worth getting only to clean up the remaining sauce from any pasta you get. It wasn't worth it on its own. The last time we ordered the carne pizza which was fine but I didn't care too much about the texture. This time we got the one with squash and stuff on it...didn't care at all for this. same texture but it felt a bit TOO charred on the veggies that gave a bitter note. Atmosphere was good. Our server was quite attentive at first, but as it picked up, we didn't see them for a while. took a bit longer than expected to refill our waters or pay the bill. All in all, still good. I like how they have the pass near the dining area so you can see everyone working, though I'm sure it gets busy. on the way out we saw the lasagna and that looked pretty good.

We came with a group for Pizza night. It was my first visit, and I'll be back. The pizzas were delivered right out of the oven, and my Carne with anchovies was perfect. Hot, crispy, and fully loaded. My Happy Hour draft beer was $4, so I wished we could've stayed longer for refills. I got a cannoli for dessert with an espresso, a good ending to a good meal. Our server was excellent, attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. We were in the back room, and I loved it because it was quiet. We were a party of 8, and conversed throughout our meal, a real treat when most places's noise levels squelch cross table talking. We had pre-agreed that tonight was pizza night, but I'll be back to sample the other entrees - soon!

Laura is our favorite spot for birthdays, date nights, and great food. Their constantly refreshing seasonal menu keeps us coming back--I waited an entire year for their amazing pear tart appetizer to return this fall! The staff is attentive and the service always exceeds expectations. They celebrated my friend with a birthday card on the table and a complimentary sorbet with a candle. For top-notch Italian dining and fantastic hospitality, Laura is a must-try.

Friends came in from out of town for a Naval School grad and were staying in Summerville, so we met up at Laura for dinner. We started with the Beef Carpaccio, and I loved the zip of lemon zest, pickled onions, and capers. We also ordered the bread, but it was, for us, just ok. For our meal my husband ordered the Pappardelle Fungo, which was delicious, hearty, and rich. I enjoyed my Agnolotti with the ricotta stuffed pasta and lots of asparagus and peas. Known for their fresh pastas, I understand why. Tender and cooked to perfection! We did order dessert, but would def skip next time... the only downside of the meal.

Celebrating my birthday yesterday I was taken to Laura's. It was a perfectly lovely birthday gift. The focaccia was hot, springy and tasty, The chicken parm was huge yet tender and delicious. Enough to take home. Tiramisu so large it could be eaten by 4 people. Thank you for helping to create such a wonderful memory!

This was my first time at Laura's after hearing so many good things about and I wish I came sooner! We had a large group of 7 on a Saturday night but they were able to seat us within 10 minutes! I ordered a Laura cocktail which was a light and refreshing limoncello with lemon sorbet. For my main I ordered the Laura lasagna and was blown away! It was so cheesy, rich and delicious! The braised beef they used inside took the lasagna to the next level and I will definitely be thinking about it for awhile! My hubby got the carne pizza and loved all the meats on top! For dessert my friend ordered the semi freddo with a toasted meringue on top that they do in front of you and a creamy biscoff inside. My hubby ordered the tiramisu which was more like a mousse cup and I happened to like it better that way then the traditional heavy cake. I can't wait to be back!

Great experience and food. Arrived at 530 on a Monday so was able to take advantage of the happy hour drinks (1/2 off specialty cocktails!) Focaccia was delicious and a huge serving The Alfredo at the table was also pretty good. Added on shrimp and they were a bit smaller than I expected and not super flavorful . My friend had a salad (huge!!!) and pizza which was wonderful. Great spot - service was exceptional!

Laura's is such a gem. Their margarita pizza during Wednesday happy hour is perfection, and the burrata board is always fresh and delicious. The vibe is relaxed and inviting, and the bartenders truly make the experience even better. Friendly service, great food, and a place I'm always happy to return to.

I ordered two things that I could pronounce or even heard of before this day. They were awesome. The Caesar salad was deconstructed-- meaning that they gave use a bunch of lettuce with all the ingredients on separate parts of the plate. It was annoying to cut up our own salad and add the sardines and mash everything together I did like the rice balls and the ravioli

First time going to Laura's, and won't be the last. It was a bit of a surprise pulling into a parking spot here as the building looks a bit like a commercial industrial property. In fact, having passed it many times, that's what we assumed it was. The interior is a mix of Italian bistro and industrial (open ceiling, exposed joists and HVAC). The seatings are well spaced so it feels a bit more posh. Noise level was quite low, despite being near the "finishing station." That's the sign of a well done acoustical design. Reservation process was smooth and easy and we were seated immediately. Greeted promptly by service staff and our waiter Tom. Tom quickly introduced the restaurant, including a bit about its history, and our first introduction to the menu. We ordered wine and Tom returned to tell us about all the Antipasta (basically appetizer) items and the Primo and Secondo items, as well as the specials. My wife ordered the pear tart and I ordered the octopus. We ordered a chianti from their nicely rounded wine list, and it was excellent. It was also a good pour, something not always true at restaurants. The pear tart is a wonderful concoction that sort of defies easy characterization. It has a delicate crust, pears and a small salad like topping. Delicious with a cacophony of flavors, including prosciutto(!). The octopus consisted of two large arms on a bed of polenta. Not just polenta, but there is no doubt that it was the best polenta we've ever had. My wife, not usually a fan, had multiple helpings. Tom carefully paced our order so that the main course gave us some breathing room before the entree arrived. My wife ordered the Lasagna (a la Laura) and I took a chance on the whole roasted fish, which was sea bass. The lasagna was a fair sized portion and filled with cheesy goodness. The meat is not a traditional ground beef, but something more akin to a wonderfully tender beef roast (fall apart tender), accompanied by pork. The flavors were nicely married. The whole fish came in a wonderful presentation (picture enclosed). Tom graciously helped me to remove the flesh from the bones, and taught me about the cheek meat, which I would not have known about. In general sea bass is a wonderfully tasty item, and this was done perfectly with a delicious slightly sweet taste. I have to note here that the fingerling potatoes did not get short shrift, and had just a bit of firmness (no mushy overcooked potatoes here) with nicely balanced salt and rosemary. For desert my wife chose the blueberry/lavender gelato. This is an amazing combination with the blueberry flavor coming through first, followed by a long lasting lavender taste. This was something like a fine wine with different flavors emerging over time. I chose the sorbet, which was a nice strawberry mixture with no sugary taste. Very well executed. We spent roughly 2 hours on site, and there was no suggestion of a need to rush by the staff. Very pleasant experience. My only regret is that we didn't come here sooner. It is now definitively the best Italian restaurant we have experienced anywhere. The flavors and pairings are a bit different than other Italian restaurants, but incredibly well thought out. The prices are really quite competitive as well. Really there is nothing not to like.

My family thoroughly enjoyed Laura. It's right off of Main Street basically in downtown Summerville, yet we had never noticed it before we went looking for a decent Italian restaurant. Everyone thought the food was fantastic. Some of the best they've had. Definitely the best they've had out for Italian in the area. The service was very good. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant was smaller than we thought it would be. We came in with two reservations. Because we couldn't find one for the amount of seats we needed; we initially sat at two different tables, but they were later able to accommodate moving us to one larger table together. The only reason I'm giving them four stars not five, is because of their lack of vegan options. I know they're a traditional Italian place that is built off of Chef Nico's grandma's recipes; however, places that I went in other states with a similar set up still had one vegan dish on the menu. All my family would definitely go back if they were craving more Italian food out. For myself, they would have to create a vegan option for me first.

Another 5 star meal at Laura. After having brunch here for Tarah's birthday Cheri said back in November she wanted to have her birthday dinner here. And everything was delicious. I love lemon so I was in heaven with everything I ordered! The Laura is a lemoncello, Prosecco, elderflower, and a floating ball of lemon sorbet cocktail. It's refreshing and just the right amount of booze. For an app I went with the beef carpaccio. Easily the best app out of everything I tried. Parmesan, confit lemon, fried capers, Caesar cream, pickled red onions, and radishes. I will order this every time I'm there! And for dinner I again headed down the citrus road!! Their agnolotti was a citrus ricotta filled pasta in what they called a brown butter sauce, but I felt it was more of a lemon sauce. Which I was in love with. I asked for a spoon so I could scoop up plenty of sauce with each bite. Ray was our server and he was amazing. And believe me when I say the place was packed! There wasn't an empty chair!!! From start to finish we had our drinks, order apps and our meals. Apps came out timely. Next round of drinks then dinner followed right behind. A party of 9 with and enjoyable hour and a half from start to finish meal was awesome. I hope everyone else tipped Ray as well as JD and I tipped him!! ;-)

    Gluten free filet

OMG!! I can't say enough about Laura and their whole staff. Phenomenal!! The food from start to finish was above and beyond exceptional. The meatball app and the octopus..I could eat my weight in. So delicious. The Caesar salad was delicious. I had the filet which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Two at our table had lasagna which they both loved. My other had had agnolotti pasta with scallops and I would kill to know how to make that sauce on that. Delicious. Another had the salmon special and it was on point. Another with us was gluten AND dairy free and she said her meal was delicious. And the cheesecake at the end...Lord a mercy!!!! All so good. Thanks to everyone..even Nico for making my birthday one of the most memorable in a long time. I'll be back for that octopus very soon!

Our friends have been here numerous times and I can see why they keep going back. Our party of five were seated as quickly as they could during a very busy time for supper on a Friday evening. Our table ordered different salads to start, and each was appreciated. I had the Caprese. I cannot stress enough, how generous the portions are, how fresh everything is, and very tasty. Our table got two different kinds of pizza, a type of cheese bread (they ran out of garlic knots, which is understandable since they're incredible, and understandably sold out quickly!). The five of us kept commenting on how good everything was, hot when served, and oh my goodness the amount of cheese! I ordered the calzone like I did last time. I asked for jalapeños and mushrooms, and these two were included in generous amounts. My Caprese salad was excellent, with one small detail that I'd prefer: they use plain iceberg lettuce (all our salads did). I would prefer arugula or a mixture of dark greens instead. The generous amount of soft mozzarella made up for this, along with lots of huge chunks of fresh tomatoes, big black olives, a touch of basil and a drizzle of olive oil were spot on! The parking is free in the adjacent lot. Wheelchair accessible. Generally clean areas, although the bathroom could use a new paint job and a bit of a deep clean. Again, Friday nights seem to be very busy, so be prepared to wait for a table, and a loud-ish atmosphere. All the team members were working so hard and seem to have a great attitude with one another and the patrons. The dessert menu is pretty limited, but includes tiramisu and cheesecake. This is easily our go-to restaurant and worth the 40 minute drive from where we live! Two thumbs up for sure.

I hadn't heard anything…read moreabout it and had no idea how good it would be, I just figured it'd be okay and that would've been fine. Stayed basic and just ordered the chicken parm sandwich and meatball sub. We cut both in half and shared. That was easily the best chicken parm sandwich and the best meatball sub I've ever eaten. So much flavor & the textures were delightful. I usually can pick out things that would've made my food better, even if I enjoyed my meal, but in this case I have no notes. It was absolute perfection. Wish I would've taken a photo so I could post it here but I wasn't expecting to leave a review. Bravo!

To begin, I will state unequivocally that the meatball is my favorite sandwich (unless I'm in…read moreChicago, then it may quickly switch to a hot dipped Italian beef). So, when I first discovered the "Chucktown Meatball Co.," I hunted them down with the intention of telling them how disappointed I was, since it is SO rare I have a meatball worth its salt. Often, it has been a miserable experience, especially since I ONLY eat housemade meatballs and not the atomic waste, cylinder shaped frozen craters found at the fast-food shack of your (poor and ill-advised) choice. It took some effort, but I finally find them via Instagram, pull up to their truck parked somewhere in the swamps of West Ashley, and order the Meatball Hero (marinara on toasted Italian roll and topped with Pesto, parmigiana, and stracciatella). The preparation took a little time but trust me - that is a good thing. Before long, we complete the handoff, and I walk back to my car and immediately take a bite. Incredible. Are these the best meatballs I've ever had? No, they are not. That trophy belongs to my departed Italian mother's concoction. However, these are so good, tasty and fresh, I find myself heading back on a weekly basis (if not more). I wanted to try their pasta and other things but couldn't get off the meatball hero. Finally, the owner, in an almost plea to rid me of my demons, suggested the chicken parm hero (chicken cutlet with marinara, mozzarella, provolone, and parmigiana with pesto/stracciatella on a toasted Italian roll), and I obliged. Equally incredible, with a red hot fried fresh chicken cutlet smothered in a molten mess that was glorious to eat. Both sandwiches should be common in the Northeast (with varying degrees of quality) but finding them in Charleston at this culinary level is as rare as driving down a street with no flooding. We're talking about super high-quality food here (shockingly prepared in a truck) at a more than reasonable price. The following week, I went back to my meatball hero, because it's what I crave. I'll eventually get around to trying the pasta, but for now, let me go down swinging with a toasted Italian roll in my veins and a smile on my face. When you find them, walk up and tell them Milo sent you. They'll know.
