This was my second trip here. A girlfriend and I arrived to a line out front. I don't do lines so decided to tell the doorman that we'd like a table to eat, to which we were promptly escorted. Thank you for having a line outside because I might not have had the experience of grabbing a bite from this fabulous kitchen. We were told the kitchen would be closing, so to order fast. We ordered the french fries which we instantly begged to add a second order of. The WORLD'S BEST FRIES. We also tried the chocolate cake which was served with an array of ripe currants, chocolate powder, chocolate crunchies and homemade vanilla ice cream. So back to the World's Best Fries. The conversation- (Vegan Friend): Omg we have to order more of these fries fast. They are the best I've ever had. (Me): These are so good and I can taste the bacon. You'd better not eat any, you are Vegan. (Vegan Friend): I don't want to hear that, they are spectacular. I don't taste any bacon (Me): Are you kidding me, even the mayo has bacon in it. Who the hell cares, they are the world's best fries. Lesson: if you are vegetarian or vegan you may miss out on trying the world's best french fries . This review is for Sunday BRUNCH only. I didn't even know this place offered brunch but am so glad my first visit here was during Sunday afternoon. They had a pretty basic, but nevertheless diverse, brunch menu, that ran the gamut from mediterranean style baked eggs to chicken and biscuits. I opted for the chicken and biscuits and it was absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed the small to medium-sized carafes of mimosas, which they offer in a variety of flavors. The blood orange variety was delicious and provided the four of us about 3 drinks each, which was quite a deal for the cost. Something to note: the potion sizes here are a little bit below average - which perfectly filled me up without leaving me groggy for the rest of the afternoon, but for the hungrier, I would recommend ordering an app or two to supplement. read more

Even at 10:30pm on Thursday, the waitresses gave us a hard time about reservations at the bar tables. No one ever came and eventually she told us the party "cancelled". Lame. The first time we went here in August '12, it was around 7PM on a Saturday night. The bar scene was crowded, lively fun and social and the bartenders were very attractive and friendly. Drinks were great. Definitely have to come again I thought. Started telling my friends how fun Laurel Tavern was. The second time I came here was in September on a Saturday night. There was a short line out in front, so we decided to wait in the line since we were #3. We were made to wait 45 minutes while they ushered in one hot girl after another, probably 40 total before we got in. All of a sudden it felt like a nasty Hollywood club. When we finally go in, sure enough the crowd vibe was more like a club. Lots of unfriendly beautiful people. Two chicks making out hardcore right in the middle of the bar clearly just to cause a scene. It wasn't even midnight. We left. I tried Laurel Tavern one more time in October, gametime decision with a friend who lived nearby. It was around 7PM. The bar was standing room only like usual which was fine...but we ordered some overpriced appetizers, had nowhere to put it and the staff didn't go out of their way to help us. The bartenders were inattentive, although still attractive. Overall it just didn't feel good like the first time. You could just tell none of the staff or management really cared that you were there. Even hot spots should be staffed by nice people if you ask me, at least in this part of town. This isn't the Sunset Strip or the Cahuenga Corridor - it's SMB! read more

I ate here...the food was outstanding I had drinks here...lots of drinks here.....and that "Creeping Fig" That drink damn drink ALONE has me screaming FUCK IT!!!!! we are going to West Hollywood! I dislike West Hollywood, honestly I hate it....but the creeping fig if made properly is worth the trip. The first time my wife and I had dinner and drinks here with friends who live here, Pauly Shore walked by..I gave him a classic "Buuuuuud-eeee" and he gave me an awesome handshake and a hey-bro.....made my life. Recently came here for a quick Creeping Fig....and my wife orders the Gangster, my Fig was a tad off......hence the 5th star missing. A restaurant piques one's interest when their bosses talk at length about how hard it is to get a reservation at said eatery. While getting a reservation at this West Hollywood hotspot is quite difficult (and sometimes they hang up on you, and then you call back, and they hang up on you again, and then you call back pretending to be a famished congressman), the brew-ha-ha surrounding Laurel Hardware is utter and complete BS. Hollywood BS, but BS nonetheless. Anyway, after wrangling a reservation for like, three weeks in advance, me and my friend (who will remain nameless but his first name ends with "-an" and his last with "-iedenhaupt") arrived early, and find that we cannot yet be seated. Luckily for us, it's weho, so we can stroll and be merry. Unfortunately, two storefronts over, there's a vet hospital, so we passed a bunch of people crying because their dog had been put down. Going back to the restaurant, we were finally seated. Now I had heard a myth that they only seat "the gays" in the front of the restaurant so they can be "seen". The hostess, looking at the both of us (mind you, my pal is not a homosexual) seats us right by the sliding glass door/windows. Looking to my left (an empty table) and to my right (an endless row of gays) i assumed the myth to be true. While the seats by the windows are nice for staring, we were also SANDWICHED in there. Nothing makes you feel more self-conscious about your ass when it's knocking over people's cocktails next to you. We also had a waitress whose clock must have been broken or she dgaf because it took her 10 minutes to get our drink order. An when the Hollywood blow-hards that sit next to us have to ask if a waiter even exists in this restaurant -- you've got problems. She finally arrives and tries really hard to be charming which is so much worse than ACTUALLY just apologizing for being a shitty server. So, back off, lady, and take me order. ME HUNGRY. Lacking any adventurous nature, we both order some sort of cocktail and the burger entree. While the burger was juicy, the right size, and the french fries crispy and hot -- when we got the bill, it ended up being like 30 bucks a piece. In what world do we live in when two burgers and two cocktails come to 60 bux (we may have ordered a salad to share but still)? AND when the exact opposite of The Flash is your server, it's hard to walk away not feeling scammed. Who the hell knows. Laurel Hardware? Oh boy. Douche-tastic in WeHo. I came here a few times this summer because it was a few blocks away from where I was living. The servers are all nice, the douche comes from the clientele. My friend and I would go early as a sort of late afternoon stopover and he'd get a cocktail or two and we'd people watch. They have a good wine selection. Once there was fuzzy crap all in my glass so I had to ask for another, another time they got my friend's drink wrong (this is at the back area). The patio is so pretty and the skylight is such a great space. But it always seems that soon, within 25 minutes of arriving, there starts a trickle. A slow, loud influx of desperate HW types with many nearly identical faces accompanied by lots of True Religion male jeans (they still sell those?). It can get very gross very fast. And the weekends are jam packed. I really don't know how the waiters who serve food can get through the tight throngs of try-hards that fill up the place like so many condensed molecules, invisible but desperate to latch onto something. Well.. Many of the local LA guys or gals said. This is "THE PLACE" to go! I don't think that is the case. Well, Laurel Hardware is more like a Bar then a restaurant. Most of the peoples who are going to "LH" are not eating at all. They are mainly drinking and snack snack! Woman in this place are desperately looking for HOT guy and screaming out of their lungs.. SO MUCH NOISE! is it equal of the energy or turn off for other customers! If "LH" menus with so limited items, and call the restaurant. "LH" is more like a BAR for me. (You can go to any Irish pubs! it is the same.) Price it seem a little pricey. Quality is okay! read more

Donning the same name, location and even sign as the former hardware store, they've transformed the place into a beautiful modern eatery. There's a cute front area with large floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the street but the real splendor is in the back. The restaurant expands into a modern and comfortable area full of wood and iron decor, comfortable booths, shared tables, full bar, and a lounge area. There's a really adorable outdoor area just outside the back windows but it doesn't look like they've fully expanded the set up to fill that just yet. A friend and I stopped in on opening night, went in with an open mind knowing the fact it's their first night but still I was impressed. The staff was very attentive given how busy they were. We tried the margherita pizza, which was very good and the burger, also very flavorful, would def recommend both. The fries that came with the burger were like crack, just wish there was a bigger portion of them. I hope you like savory and salty things cause they def don't shy away from the sodium here which is fine with me. Being opening night they had an issue with the burger so it took longer than expected to come out, they brought us a free plate of the pork belly while we were waiting (which was delicious, melts in your mouth) and also even took the burger off our bill. After we got the check they surprised us with a free plate of the grilled peaches dessert. Very interesting, tart, goes well with the cheese, not my kind of dessert per say but it def fits in with the whole vibe of the place. Kinks aside im excited about this place. Excellent experience. We sat on the patio and although it was mid 50's, they had a set of heaters that made it feel very comfortable. Dinner consisted of the chicken wings which were incredible , the avocado citrus salad and the branzino. All wonderful. The service was dedicated to your needs. On a lovely Sunday afternoon, we stopped by for some drinks and nibbles. We ended up ordering a few of the house sodas, a French press of coffee and a few brunch plates. The best thing we had was the persimmon salad with burrata. Heaven! The persimmons were at the perfect ripeness, paired with a savory/salty seasoning and pesto-type sauce, along with some nuts -- I think pine nuts. The burrata was fresh and soft, and just perfectly delightful. Really a well done plate. I felt fresh, uplifted and healthy. However, one of their "signature" brunch dishes -- the chicken and biscuit -- was sorely disappointing. Two of us at the table ordered it after the waiter said it was the most popular thing on the menu. Unfortunately, both of our plates came out with barely warm food. Plus, the dishes came out 5-8 mins after we ordered them -- even before our sodas! So, I can only assume that because the dish was so popular, that the kitchen makes them in bulk and keeps them under the heating lamp. The chicken was dry although at one point in time, I am sure it was flavorful. And it wasn't warm. The biscuit was hard, and again, not warm. The creamy corn gravy they topped it all off with was also -- get this, not even barely warm -- and too heavy on the salt. After a few bites, all my food was cold. Our last friend ordered the Tynga, which was toast topped with some sort of dollop of tomatoey eggplanty. I didn't try it because it didn't look too appetizing, especially after my underwhelming chicken and biscuit dish. I will say this, though - the sitting and socializing part was pleasant. We had a great waiter. Lots of well-dressed West Hollywood types were there for an enjoyable brunch. The patio was packed, and had a mellow ambiance. I liked the feeling -- I just didn't care for the food. If only the food were 20 degrees warmer, I'd say in a heart beat that I'd be back. But after this experience, I'm not so sure. read more

I would have definitely given a better review had I not found hair in my food during my breakfast brunch. I've been to Laurel Hardware a few times before for a few friends get togethers, and absolutely loved the food, drinks, and ambiance. When my birthday came around, it was a no-brainer to celebrate here. I was majorly disappointed when I found a long strand of hair in my food upon it's arrival to the table. The server did bring out a new dish, but it definitely grossed out the entire table. It could happen anywhere, but I think I will be taking a break from Laurel Hardware. Given the special occasion and grossness of finding someone's hair, I would have hoped management would have offered to comp the dish, or at least offered some type of an add-on. This joint gets one star based entirely on the service and not the food. Julie, the unprofessional douche which was our waitress, was what one would classify as "so LA", but she is the ONLY person I met on my trip that possessed that attitude. Her manager (tall, bearded Nordic looking bloke) made up a bit for the shite service, but barely. The food was great and our drinks enjoyable. The rest of my party lives in LA and frequents this resto. They were in agreement with the food being fab and were appalled at the treatment we received. The most memorable moment was her appearing out of nowhere with our bill, slamming it down on the table and telling us we had to leave because the patio was closing up, then disappearing before we could say a peep. I'm fairly certain there are many places in LA with food just as good and with service heaps better. I'm willing to try ANY of them. Avoid this place if you can. read more

So, I went here with two of my girlfriends for my birthday dinner - I liked it. First off, if you're planning on going on Friday or Saturday, make a reservation or you will be miserable and in a bad mood. You really can't request where you would like to be sat - they plop you down wherever - but it's ok. The hostesses were super friendly. Our table wasn't ready when we got there, but only had to wait about 10 minutes and they found us in the bar no problem. Service was really great - our waiter was prompt with drinks and gave us a sensible run down of the menu. Food was good - but nothing to write home about. We had the eggplant pizza - which did it's job. The specialty cocktails here are excellent. They run from about $12-$16 a pop - but worth it. I had one that was infused with peppers and my mouth was on fire - but I was into it. This place get a little on the scene-y side towards the end of the night. I love people watching at places like this, because people are such a train wreck. There were these group of women with fake boobies at the end of our table who were constantly looking around to see if anyone was looking at them. I was, but not in the positive way they were hoping. I'm sure they went home alone. All in all, I would recommend Laurel Hardware - especially if you are bringing people out of town or on a date. read more

Yummy drinks, yummy food. The only problem: A steep price for a small quantity. PARKING There should be plenty of street parking around the restaurant. I parked a bit far from the restaurant, but I still felt safe walking back to my car late at night because the restaurant is in WeHo, and there are always people walking about. SERVICE Our waitress was OK. There were no issues with the food and timing of the service, but it really didn't seem like she liked her job or that she was spending her Saturday night talking to us. But she did her job perfectly, so no other complaints here. If you can, you should ask for a table outside. It's very pretty. :) FOOD Steak (4/5) - The steak was perfectly cooked and the vegetables were yummy. I wish there was more of a variety of veggies though. Brussel sprouts (4/5) - These were soooooo good. I loved the surprise pomegranite pieces! Fries - The fries just tasted like normal fries. It actually tasted like Red Robin fries because of the flavored salt sprinkled on top. DRINKS Gangster (5/5) cucumber vodka, watermelon juice, lime. This drink tastes just as good (or better) as it sounds. Bye Felicia (5/5) So. Good. It tasted like a pina colada, or, as my friend suggested, a pineapple cream pie. The food here is great. It's a very cozy atmosphere. They have 2 bars that you can order drinks from. The dinner Rea is super small with limited seating so make reservations!! Their food i believe that is over priced for what they serve however is west la, i didnt expect anything else. The servers are great. Customer service was really good. The bus boys / food runners were beyond rude!!! They never ever brought anything i ever asked for. Since there were only 2 waitresses sometimes if i just needed a simple napkin i didnt want to bother them. So that was frustrating, when u need a napkin and no one seems to care!! I want to like this place sooooo much since it's so close to where I live and so well set up and aesthetically pleasing and what not but dear god it's got the worst crowd. Who are these people? I mean, I've lived in LA for seven years and am aware that these typical LA "I'm the coolest person ever" douchebags exist, but I've learned to avoid them. When those rare nights come around where I find myself in their natural habitat I can't help but wonder "why?" Why do these girls think they're the next Kate Moss when they're not good enough to be her assistant? Why do these dudes think they're cooler than Jon Hamm, Leonardo Dicaprio and Joseph Gordon Levitt combined when the only person who actually thinks they're cool is their mom? I'm really hoping this place settles down and inherits a better crowd. But for now, unless you're a typical LA square, you'd do your best to avoid lest you waste your night. Oh, and the bartenders are SLOWWWWWW. There's four of them and they still take forever. Granted, some of them are nice (tall, red headed woman) but still, move your damned ass. Updating my other review, yet again, because I was dragged here by a friend. I knew there was something about this place that seemed weird. I think I finally experienced it. I came in for drinks and food and sat down in the lounge area. No one came to serve us for a while except eventually someone came to say "this is reserved seating". Why would anyone reserve a lounge seat? It's nice furniture but if you are coming for dinner you would not want to sit here. But she was nice and said we could stay until they needed the spot. Fine. Nothing better than that 2nd class feeling. Still couldn't get any service until...wait, another waitress comes by to tell us that we are sitting improperly at a reserved table. (Getting that welcome feeling yet?) We explain and then discuss an open seat on this long leather bench nearby with little tables. "Can we sit there?" We were told that normally that is reserved also (really? a bench?) but we could sit there all night if we wanted. HOORAY! We move, sit down and I then observe a party of 4 being seated for dinner in the lounge area. A rather attractive older woman who is clearly the matriarch of the group gives the waiter a face of 'you have got to be kidding me, OH HELL NO' when she sees the lounge furniture she is being directed to. It's not a dinner table! Then, I flag down a waiter to order some food...his first response "Do you have a reservation to sit here?" This is the part when I just stare at the ground with an expressionless face, count to 10 and then gently pat myself on the back for evolving this much as a human. Enough Laurel Hardware. Stop making me feel like it's a privilege to spend my money at your establishment. 3 servers had made it more of a point to make us feel unwelcome rather than offering to SELL FOOD or maybe let each other know that we had been ok'd to enjoy the spoils of sitting in the lounge area. There is a very sweet bartender there by the way. And once I had a bite of some food which was delicious. So, make a reservation and make sure you don't get seated in the lounge area when you'd like to eat a proper meal. Unless you're cool like that. read more

I swung by on Friday May 8th with my buddy for drinks around 12:30am. There was a line of about 15 people, mostly all guys which is expected. We waited about 20 minutes to get to the front then were let in only to find the place half empty. After looking around my friend asked if we should have a drink and I replied no so we went back to leave. On the way out I asked the doorman why he made us wait 20 minutes when it's half empty. His reply was then don't come back. Real professional. Instead of letting patrons in when there is obviously plenty of room so I can asses the situation for myself and most likely get a drink, I'm forced to waste 30 minutes of my evening to only be upset I was made to wait for nothing. Now for sure I'm not going to get a drink. I've been many times to LH and enjoy the place. As my family owns establishments, I understand when a business is at capacity it is necessary to hold the line. But for LH management have that type of door policy in order to trick potential patrons into believing the place is packed is simply pathetic. And to top it off with a rude doorman. So often in LA we completely throw out any mark of the past. Cocktails were great, the pizza was delicious and came out promptly. So often Yelp reviewers are so tough on new restaurants... This is the 2nd time I've been to this restaurant. The first was amazing, and the second time wasn't as great. The food is great! The service is excellent! The actual restaurant and ambience is beautiful! The reason why this isn't 5 stars is because of the ladies at the host stand. I was running 20 mins behind on my reservation time and I called ahead to warn them and whoever I spoke to on the phone was super friendly! She said the table isn't guaranteed if we are super late (which I get, I used to host at a restaurant over the summer). When we walked into the restaurant, the ladies at the host stand gave us a nasty look and told us they gave our table away and that we could sit in the lounge area. I wasn't upset about it, my fault I was late. But the host was so rude about it and gave us such a mean look. This experience makes me not want to come back here. read more

First time here and what fun! Total spur of the moment decision after a movie at Cinefamily, met up with some friends for Saturday night drinks. Line outside was long. Door guy was sweet and we were cute and friendly so i offered a smile and were let inside without any wait at all. Really beautiful upscale interior. Though i was dressed for a movie and not for a 'night out on the town,' the dress code was pretty fluid as there were just as many decked our dudes in suits and ladies in mini dresses as there were people in jeans and a tshirt. The patio is gorgeous. The coffee is strong, grainy and delicious. Reminded me of Armenian coffee. It was $7 for a pot and while that is pricey it's not much more than you would pay at Intelligentsia an totally worth it for the presentation and ambiance. Though a very 'LA' venue, all the bartenders, servers and door guys were super friendly and nice. It was not an uppity snobbish bar even though their establishment was indeed very elegant and with room to brag. Most definitely a 'singles' scene. I went there to catch up with an old friend over a drink and we could barely get a word in as dudes were trying to talk to us. Some more annoying than others and maybe if i had been in the 'I'm out to get hit on' mindset it would have been fun, but we were sort of trying to talk business and it was nearly impossible without being interrupted with a cheesy pickup line. I will most certainly be back here for their coffee, for their drinks, for their food (which i have been informed is amazing)! And yes, maybe to strike up a conversation or two with random non-douche, tall, dark and handsome, single men over a Moscow mule on the outdoor patio. read more

Been somehow ending up here every week for the last month or so. It's a great spot! Once you get past the storefront restaurant area, the space opens up into a beautiful, spacious bar. And once you get past that, there's a nice garden patio out back. The place is always busy it seems, and the crowd is pretty cool, good-looking. It's chill, not too loud, trendy but not overly so. The bartenders and servers are great. Never had an issue. I love the Rosie cocktail. Super girly (I think it has rose petals in it), but it's really good! Haven't had a proper meal here yet, but tried some bites the last time I was here. The Summer Corn with truffle and parmigiano reggiano isn't made with fresh corn (I'm pretty sure it's canned corn), but it's not that bad actually. The truffle flavor is really nice, though they could probably cut the amount of cheese in half; it's a bit overpowering. My buddy ordered the tres leche cake to nibble on. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but he does and he loved it. He dared me to double-fist a spoonful of the truffle corn and a spoonful of the cake. It wasn't terrible and I made 2 bucks. Totally worth it ;) Parking is my only complaint. Otherwise, I love Laurel Hardware. read more

I don't understand why there are such negative reviews on this place. The food is great, the servers are so incredibly sweet, the atmosphere is warm, and the decor is aesthetically pleasing. My friend and I managed to get dinner at the community table in the back on a crowded Saturday night- they were very accommodating. I think you yelpers/LAers need to know some things: First off, the chef has a vision. Do not try and change it because you think your way of altering it will make it better. It's considered an insult to the chef to change what he worked so hard to create. So, no substitutions. Deal. If you have allergies, you should look at the menu before you go. Secondly, GET OVER YOURSELF PEOPLE. Yes, this is LA where everyone thinks they're a celebrity, but the fact of the matter is, you're not, and restaurants aren't going to treat you like one. Yes, the customer is always right, but the restaurant also has a business to run and there are other people there they have to accommodate besides you, so please leave your egos at home. Really cool space in what appears to be a converted hardware store on Santa Monica Blvd. We came here on a Monday night in a group of 8 and the place was alive and bumping, with random TV celebrities showing up throughout the night. The front is just a plain restaurant but around the corner in the back is a bar and lounge area with big group tables and lounge seats. Really nicely designed space. They have a fairly spacious patio also, which was chill and great to hang out after dinner. Reserving was tough - we called half a dozen times and got through once. Upon arrival, we noticed the waitstaff was very um, charming, to say the least. So it's a typical West Hollywood, beautiful-people restaurant/lounge, but the food and drink here just really aren't very good. We shared a number of plates and drinks: -Mussels: just a plain plate of mussels (for $18), completely bland -Chicken: pretty good, moist, flavorful -Pizzas: tried 5 of these, thin crust, pretty good but factor in the price (~$14+ each) and it's just average. -Old fashioned: sugar wasn't crushed up and blended with bitters well, so most of the drink tasted like watered down bourbon. Got hit with a ton of sweetness at the bottom. -The Reserve: sounds similar to an old fashioned - some reserve bourbon, barrel-aged bitters...so you may skip over the part about hibiscus water. This drink is overwhelmed by it, which tastes like sparkly split with lemon in it. -Beers: Delirium and Magic Hat, both excellent beers. Lastly, service was also really good. Our waitress was very nice and offered to replace our drinks. She mentioned the chef here was with the Lazy Ox prior and heard they "went to shit" after he left. I lived upstairs from Lazy Ox and can tell you, the food there got progressively better, especially this past year. It's a shame this cool spot is marred by incredibly mediocre food; they'd be lucky to have the Ox's menu. read more

This place used to be the place to go like 6 months to a year ago. The line would be 2 and half hours long at 10 pm. It was also a great atmosphere and drinks. NOW ITS DONE! The line is still there some nights but the atmosphere has totally changed inside and out. The crowd sucks. The doorman suck. They just let in all their friends claiming they have "reservations". The food and drinks have gone way down hill and I don't recognize the bartenders that used to be good. No one goes here anymore read more

It's a cool place with an interesting and different vibe & ambiance. I get what they were going for and they did a good job with it. Coming to Laurel Hardware to enjoy a drink (and they're tasty here) isn't the worst idea. Good people watching, per the usual trendy LA bar... I'm not much for anything else here though. I don't think the service is anything to write home about, nor is the food. There are better places to spend the same amount of money and enjoy yourself far more. It's not worth waiting in line for (even for a few drinks). I suppose Laurel Hardware just really doesn't do much for me. read more

If you notice by my other reviews, it is rare that I give a negative rating to any establishment but when I feel I must it's with good reason. Thus this review is not based on the restaurant itself rather the bar it turns into after food service. First let's start off with the doormen. Biting tongue here, let's just say that despite my friends and I waiting in line will allow certain individuals in before us with a wink and a nod. We were in the front of the line yet they let 17 people bypass the line straight in. Over 30 people were leaving the establishment yet they still refused to let knew people in. The one of the doormen tried to explain to me that the owner approved them, he could tell that I knew I was lying and tried his best to be nicer to me. I later found out that the "owner" who allowed this individuals to skip the line was actually a server. Then I continued to wait in line as the other doorman tried his best to hide his intentions with people seeking a quick way in, easily swayed by a pretty face as if he were the math nerd being talked by the head cheerleader to do her homeworker. It's already a bad taste in your mouth when such an establishment has to result to this behavior or rather allows there staff to dictate our their business is run. Once inside the wait wasn't worth it, though the service was prompt I was not impressed by what this bar wants to be and the truth of what it actually is. I can see why certain people would frequent this place, yet I have found this the most over hyped bar I have ever been to. Enjoy yourself if this is your scene, yet I recommend others to avoid this at all cost at walk over to the Hudson instead. read more

Very cool spot. Very busy on a Tuesday night. I don't hang out in Hollywood that often but as soon as we walked in, my girl friend and I looked to each other and said "This must be where all the cool cats of Hollywood hang out". Felt like most were locals that had been there before. But seriously, very chill vibe and beautiful outdoor area in the back. Go with reservations. Literally worst service ever. I come here every weekend with friends and family. I live on Fairfax and Fountain right above the street. I was so disappointed today! The server was so rude and condescending. She barely checked on us at all. Never cleaned our tables. She left all the empty plates on the table. When I asked for desert she dropped the menu on the dirty table without clearing the table. The menus were soaking in sauce. It was such a terrible experience. I asked to talk to the manager, Ryan to express my disappointed. He was just giving excuses about the restaurant being understaffed and said " today was a really weird for everyone, he said something is off"! What a lame and pathetic excuse. Wow. Last night we attended a party for a friend at Laurel Hardware. Before going I checked Yelp for reviews and found an average of 3.5 stars with over 375 reviews. For whatever reason I seemed to focus on the negative reviews, but decided to go in with an open mind. The wife and I arrived 15 minutes early for our party and we were immediately greeted by the two hostesses at the door. They informed us that we were the first of our party to arrive, and that the table would be setup within a few minutes as they escorted to the bar area. The bar was packed!!! Surprisingly, for as busy as it was, a bartender took our drink orders immediately. For as crowded as the bar was, it was very well staffed. After paying for our drinks our table was ready so we sat and waited for the other guests. Our waiters name was Jonathon and he was FANTASTIC!!!! Our hosts for dinner had ordered all the food in advance, and everyone at the table (15 of us) were rather impressed with the food. We ate ribs, chicken wings, chicken pot pie, steak, cauliflower, brussel sprouts...I know I am missing a couple of things. Although the plates of food were small, the hosts ordered enough for everyone, and it was all really good. The ribs had to be my favorite as the meat fell right off the bone and melted in my mouth. The steak was very good too, and I was really blown away by the mustard cauliflower and brussel sprouts...the brussel sprouts had a sweetness to them from the pomegranate. I have read reviews where people had waited too long, or the crowd was too this, or the food was too that...based on my experience, on a Saturday night, with a large group of people, we could not have asked for better food and service. read more

Laurel is always a good time. Friday & Saturday I would recommend coming. For dinner then staying for the rush of people that want to drink/mingle. The food is a bit pricey, but definitely tasty. Same goes for the drinks. There is seating in the front of the restaurant then you walk through a hallway and there is a large rectangular room that is the majority of the venue. The outside is my favorite part. There is vine growing on the walls, heat lamps, and a mellow vibe overall. read more

Each time I come here my experience is worse than the last. Not only do the bartenders not know how to make a White Russian (no you don't shake it in a shaker) but they act like they're better than you. Unless you're seated by a hostess he servers will pretend you don't exist instead of letting you know it's a dinner area. Hate this place. read more

I love Laurel Hardware, the food and the ambiance is amazing and their lollipop salad always hits. Unfortunately I was not pleased with the service! Making a reservation the lady on the phone was very unpleasant. When I arrived, my party was waiting for our table and ordered drinks at the bar. There were two bartenders confused by our order of drinks and accidentally got the order incorrect they seemed annoyed and I asked me to close out. I said I'm waiting for my friends to get back as they were retrieving the rest of our party and they said "we'll we're busy so can we just put it on your card" and I firmly said NO. They will be right back. They made it seem like we were going to run off with our drinks which is an uncomfortable feeling. I had to explain to her that I will stand there till they get back and that I'm not going to run off. Again at the end of our meal our party of 5 wanted to split the bill and our waiter made it clear that she was annoyed by our request. The service in a nutshell was rushed and demanding and left a really bad taste. I love the food but how can I enjoy when all the service is prioritizing there own needs over their guests. read more

Atmosphere is very nice, food pretty good for the price, but cocktails a bit overpriced. That would normally lead me to give a 4-star review to a local restaurant. That said, our treatment by the management was horrendous. The service was friendly up until the point when we were brought the dessert menu, had a look at it and very graciously decided not to order anything, intending to leave within 15 minutes (we had each ordered full entrees and two rounds of drinks). Suddenly the formerly friendly waiter turned noticeably and oddly cold, dropped the bill on our table, and the manager came by what was five minutes later at the most and informed us it was time to leave as someone had "been waiting over an hour" for our table. Mind you at the time she told us this we had only been at our table 1:40 from the start time of our reservation, and we were never informed verbally or in any other apparent manner of a time limitation, of course understanding that polite customers certainly don't stay more than two hours when a restaurant is busy (we noticed there were a couple of empty 4-top tables in our vicinity, but the resto was otherwise humming). The fact that she would lie to us to pressure us to leave for another party was enough to put the kabash on ever returning to this pretentious establishment. It was clear as we left that as four we'll-dressed, well-mannered, 50-something WeHo locals, we were less desirable than the hipster 20-somethings that replaced us. Apparently from the manager's point of view, we were only supposed to stay 40 minutes, or an hour at best, when there were "better people" waiting. From now on Bottega Louie, Gracias Madre, and Basa Nova will get our finer dining business in WeHo, as we're always treated like welcome guests from beginning to end. read more
