Lavantine was such a beautiful restaurant in Vancouver! The rooftop atmosphere was absolutely gorgeous and made for such a nice dining experience. We started with the hummus as an appetizer, which was creamy and flavorful. I also ordered a drink from their 1001 Nights menu, and the presentation was so cute--it actually came in the form of a little storybook, which was such a fun and unique touch! For our main dishes, we ordered the salmon skewers and kofta skewers. Everything was incredibly flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked nicely. The flavors really stood out and made the meal memorable. The service was initially great, and our waiter was very kind and attentive. However as time went on sadly we felt like we had gotten forgotten and we had to remind another waiter to bring our food. They also brought me the wrong dish although I had ordered the salmon skewers so we had to wait for that a bit. The main food sadly was not as flavorful as the appetizer and the drink although the presentation was good. However the manager was kind and apologized and brought us a complimentary Dubai dessert which again had a great presentation but was too sweet for my taste. A rooftop with no views but why not for summer. Second time here, and this visit we only stopped by for drinks and an appetizer. The cocktails were even better than on my first visit. The menu is inspired by the stories of One Thousand and One Nights. We tried one cocktail from each chapter and enjoyed both. Oasis is rum-based, refreshing, and not boozy at all. It comes with a huge ice cube, so the $25 cocktail lasts longer than expected. Spain is Campari-based, sweet with a slight tartness, and served with half a fresh passion fruit, which was a nice touch. We also ordered the edamame hummus. It was unique, and you could definitely taste the black pepper, which added a spicy kick. While it was tasty, I felt $25 was a bit overpriced for the portion. read more

The rooftop bar is gorgeous! It's almost Miami-esque with the vibe. The hotel entrance is a bit dark where Dahlia is. You have to take the elevator to rooftop bar. The rosewater margarita has been on the list to check out as love margaritas and love rosewater so figured the combo would be delicious. It was not, the tequila tasted like vodka, it's the tequila brand by the Rock. We ordered the HH babaganoush which was very small and green falafel which was baked. The dip came with pita but as it's made with egg, we asked for a vegan bread option which we were charged another $5 for. The place is very pretty but the food & drink were average. read more

This rooftop escape is atop of the beautiful Azur Hotel. We stayed at the Azur Hotel and decided to patronize the rooftops restaurant and bar. It's on the 14th floor of the hotel and can be closed off if the weather isn't accommodating, which is nice. We went for cocktails because we heard they have amazing craft cocktails, and they do. Let me start with the service because if the service isn't good, it's a wrap for me. No worries though because service was amazing. From the hostess stand to the bartender, top notch. Chris was our expert craft bartender. Not only was he knowledgeable, he was friendly. He kindly explained the menu and the associated cocktails. I wanted a caipirinha which was not on the menu but he made it for me and let me know what was comparable on the menu. My husband ordered the chapter II shots, which were a flight of cocktails from different regions (Bahamas, Spain, Philippines, and Chile) from around the world. I loved my caipirinha (9/10) and my husband enjoyed the flight (10/10). I also had the Tropicalia, which was a rum based drink with cachaca and tropical fruits. I asked Chris to balance it out so it wasn't overly sweet, which he gladly accommodated. It was good but I preferred the original caipirinha. Great restaurant and wonderful wait staff. I attended a company's dinner with 6-7 others so our waiter helped put together a spread for us. I would recommend their Mezze selection - everything on there is delicious. The Fried Halloumi (cheese) was also good and unique because I don't see that in many others. As for the entree, must get the whole branzino!! It was the best dish. It was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. The group also enjoyed the steak. I didn't care for prawn. Soma: comes in a super fun peacock cup. Boyfriend loved it, I did not. I give it a 6/10 he gives it a 9/10. Comes with half a real passionfruit. Bahamas: 7.5/10. Was okay but not the best Pina Colada - I give them props for trying to recreate something so classic. Boyfriend loved it and gave 10/10 but I did not 7/10. Gender neutral single stalls bathrooms available, but you have to briefly go outside to get to them. read more

Lavantine is a nice restaurant with a beautiful rooftop aesthetic! Everything comes together and makes the atmosphere very lively, including the staff. I arrived without making a reservation and was able to be seated very quickly. It was my server's 5th day; however, she did great. She made sure to check in, explain the menu, and luckily, I arrived during happy hour! She also made sure my water was always topped up. I got the wings as well as the lamb burger. The burger meat was a bit on the grainier side, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but it still got the job done. The wings were mediocre. To conclude, if you're going for the vibe and atmosphere, it's a great place. But in terms of food, it unfortunately didn't meet what I thought it would have been. read more

I had the lamb shank and my date the fish and both were sublime. They also have some of the best in-house made hummus I've had since Istanbul. The service was quick and efficient and we sort of lucked out and had the place all to ourselves which was nice. Just wish it wasn't raining! read more

Came here after work with some co-workers and although there was barely anyone there, our waitress didn't seem very good at her job. She took forever to come around to take our drink orders, then she didn't ask to take our food order when she came back with our drinks. I split a lamb burger with a colleague and it was very good. The falafel was also very tasty, as well as the baba ganush but the Hummus was a miss for me. The cocktails were well made. So the food alone was a 4 1/2 but the service was a 3 because the server was nice but we felt she wasn't doing her job properly. The hostess and the manager were very nice. read more

A big group of us came here to celebrate a special occasion and everyone had a great time. Food: 5+/5 - we had the sampler. They did not disappoint with fresh & tasty food. The assortment suited everyone's palate from grilled fish to Babaganoush Smoked Eggplant. My favorite was the Ahi Tuna and Brussels sprouts. It's a culinary blend of Eastern Mediterranean and West Coast food. The drinks are awesome too. Even though we were stuffed, we managed to make room for dessert - not too sweet Baklava! Atmosphere: 5/5 - great vibe to the place where I felt I was in another country. The restaurant is ideal for anytime of the year as the ceiling's retractable. Service: 5/5 - all the servers were on top of their game. They often asked us if the food was good and if we needed anything. Parking: 2/5 - it's a huge challenge as most of the parkades downtown Vancouver closed at 7 pm. It's a problem if you're planning to dining around that time. I would dine here again. So I decided to try Lavatine out for the cocktails, and I have to say they were pretty good. The ambiance was unique. It's a rooftop, but we weren't technically outside. It is quite pretty. They have a unique selection of drinks, and the three we tried were good. We didn't eat because we had come from dinner. We did get dessert, and it was sub-par, definitely not worth $18!! Honestly, it was highway robbery. I could've gotten something better at cactus for less! The service was really good. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive.
