So disappointing. First the good. It's in a nice neighborhood. Parking around the corner makes it easy. Nice decor. The rest is not so good. And then turns out his friends were sitting at the table next to us. So our food comes, and the rest of our meal all we get is the backside of our waiter as he's too busy smooshing with his friends. HOWEVER, The chicken kabob was super tough and smelly! The ash reshteh had no noodles and tasted like watery vegetables. The lamb shanks were so not marinated really and the cook of it was just not what we wanted. Kotlet was the worst part. It was mush and bland. Rice was super dry, not cooked enough and again bland. There was a hair in my food as well Some of us even felt sick after having the food. Great price, amazing quality, authentic cuisine. Often time it is hard to find a restaurant in San Francisco where you can find amazing, authentic food at reasonable prices. Lavash is definitely one of these go-to places. I have gone to Lavash two times, and I ordered the Lavash Special, with the Labneh, and roasted eggplant the first time around. Every meat that was served in the Lavash Special, from the lamb to the chicken, was juicy and flavorful with the right amount of spice. The roasted eggplant is excellent especially if you like a vegetarian option. To drink, I would highly recommend the Persian tea that complemented the meal perfectly with scents of cardamon. The second time around, I tried the Taste of Persia, and it was just as tasty. If you prefer lamb, I would recommend the Lavash Special, whereas if you prefer meat, this is the meal for you. The patio outside and the restaurant decoration inside was beautiful - there were so many flourishing plants and the inside felt homey. My party ordered the Kashk-E Bademjan (eggplant appetizer dish) and the Lavash Special, which was recommended to us. I really enjoyed the eggplant appetizer - really good flavors that I wasn't accustomed to. The lavash special came with three different types of meat, two huge plates of rice, and some vegetables. My favorite of the three was the chicken - it was really moist and juicy! My biggest gripe with the place was that the meal felt very meat forward, and I felt extremely bloated afterwards. I could barely finish even half the rice, and ended up taking the rest of it to go. A friend recommended this place and said it's the best Persian restaurant in SF! Came with two others - the three of us split the eggplant dip appetizer and the Taste of Persia (recommended for 2 people). The food was amazing!!! The eggplant dip was pretty unique, I haven't had it before. And all three meat options were juicy and delicious. Portion size was great as well, we had some leftovers afterward. Service was perfect as well - a waitress came by to refill water pretty often without us having to flag someone down. We called a reservation for 7:30PM on a Tues night earlier in the day to make sure we got a table. I've been here before the fire and came back for the first time on Saturday. My boyfriend made a reservation the night before and it was so helpful-- we saw people waiting for hours (just standing in the doorway, no bar seating available). Our table was ready at 7 on the dot and we sat near the fireplace. We were lucky to snag a two top table, it seems like there is a bunch of communal seating. We were promptly greeted and food came out at a timely pace. We ordered the rose tea, saffron tea, tadigh with fesenjan, koobideh kebab, two pieces of shishlik, and the choclava with pistachio gelato for dessert. A gem. as simple as that. I've eaten at Michelin rated Persian restaurants in the past and this place was just as good if not better in many categories. Appetizers were must-o-musir, cashdehbadem joon, typical bread, and tahdig with gormeh sabzi Must-o-musir was FANTASTIC and a must try! Cashdehbadem joon was filled with flavor. Tahdig was crispy and the gormeh sabzi was finger licking good and you shouldn't eat it with your fingers! Even the bread was a delight being accompanied by tomatoes, cucumbers, and Persian cheese. My father-in-law is quite picky about food and after just the appetizer he said: "life is good" Now for the main course "A taste of Persia" is what the Mrs. And I split and wowwwwww was it GREAT! The beef koobideh was seasoned to perfection and not over cooked or dry. The chicken was extra juicy and full of flavor. The barg was a bit under seasoned for my liking but the texture of the meat was flawless and great quality. Service was on top of it as well with refills and getting food out while it's hot. We were promptly greeted at the front desk check in and seated almost immediately. Our server was a wonderful young man. He made recommendations and offered suggestions quite nicely, everything was spot on. The appetizers; borani, salad shiraz and mast o mosir were great!! I ordered the lamb chop and Luleh combo, the shah kabob, it was fantastic. The lamb chops were delicious, juicy and tasty. The zereshk polo was also amazing. They had a delicious pinot that I enjoyed and lovely mouth watering desserts. Our whole party was happy with our evening so we are grateful for the warmth of the staff, including the son and owner chatting with us on our way out. Solid Persian food, especially for a casual pop in kinda place. We got their noodle/lentil soup, lavash with mint and feta, cucumbers, plus pickles and their spinach yogurt dish which is more a dip. The real star was their chicken stew, Fesenjan a tangy dream with walnuts pomegranates, chicken cubes with saffron rice, really fragrant. Everything was satisfying, but if you come here do not miss their Fesenjan. I've had this in other Persian places, but this is a magnificent creation which god only knows how long it took them to make it: a velvety texture, tangy but balanced and a perfect blend of spices with nothing too overwhelming. If you love the Mexican chicken mole concept, you're gonna love this more. Their execution and ingredients is a showstopper. The service was friendly and helpful, especially when we needed help in deciding between two dishes. Btw., the Fesenjan could've used more rice--next time, I'd order a side of rice only because there's so much sauce, we could've used another rice or bread to sop it up. No matter, I loved having leftovers :-) The interior is warm and cozy, with terrific art work, glittering chandeliers, even during the daytime, it has an oozing sexy vibe. It was my first time here . Parking was not too hard to find around the area. It is a nice small restaurant with both inside and outside sitting area. They have friendly welcoming staff . I ordered Koobideh . It was good . I was really hungry . I ate it all . All the dishes come with a complimentary Persian appetizer which is a plate of " bread ,cheese, cucumber, tomato, fresh mint and basil " . Very refreshing. At the end I ordered Persian tea. It took them some time to bring my tea. One of the servers came and apologized and said they are making a new batch. When he brought the tea it was cold . The taste was good though . $28 for the joojeh soltani to go is very pricey. The chicken and meat were tender and cooked on charcoal so that makes it taste 100x better. It came went plenty of bread to eat with. It may look like there's a lot of rice but it definitely wasn't it was a small layer dont be fooled. Rice is also cheap so im not sure why they could balance the meat to rice ratio out. Plenty of herbs though and fresh as well, I appreciated that. Overall I would be coming back once in a blue moon to get my authentic kebab fix. read more

This is a very solid 4 stars restaurant. The food is prepared with care and you can tell. Was one of the lucky ones and was able to snag a table without a reservation, but even when we walked in all the tables were empty. The hostess said yes, they look empty now, but they will fill up with all the people she has on her reservation list. It most definitely did. We ordered the joojeh and the mahi skewers plates, dolmas, and the eggplant dish (forgot what it was called, it was like a baba ghanoush). The eggplant dish was my favorite, but I do love eggplant. The joojeh was cooked very well, not dry. The mahi was good, but I think I'd opt for joojeh instead. The dolmas were also delicious. They were served warm, so not your normal cold dolmas. Tip: I think if you order one kabob plate and a side kabob, you'll be good. There is a ton of rice on just one plate alone. Outdoor seating is nice too as long as it's not too windy. They have heaters and even blankets for people to use. Again, solid restaurant. If you're looking to go here, I recommend calling for a reservation. read more

Lavash is a lovely restaurant both inside and out. Even the glasses the water is served in are well designed. We started the meal with a roasted eggplant spread which was accompanied by neatly cut squares of lavash bread. This was the highlight of the meal. We then shared the Lavash Special for two which includes chicken, minced lamb and beef skewers, two lamb chops, and grilled veggies. Plus, a large plate of basmati rice for each person. At $50 it is a good deal and very filling. The kitchen is inconsistent when it comes to cooking the chicken skewers: ours was a bit dry and overcooked (I ordered a side of yogurt to make it more palatable; the table next to us complained that the chicken skewers were undercooked. Draft beer is limited to two selections, priced at $10 which is $2 above standard and acceptable restaurant pricing. Still, it is a nice dining experience in the Inner Sunset. read more

They were still able to seat us outside and had blankets for tables that were outside of fhe heaters' covers! We got the roasted eggplant and taste of Persia to share. I liked the food, service and ambiance. Lots of beautiful real plants and flowers around.

This is hands down one of the best restaurants in the city. Bold, I know. But wow. For starters, try either the rose tea or the mint tea. They give you the rock candy and a delicate little glass mug. Its absolutely darling and I wish I got a picture.. Ah well. The lamb tongue appetizer is amazing- if you've never tried to tongue before but you're a little curious just do it, you won't regret it. The roasted eggplant is a great app alternative for the less adventurous. For main course- I have to get the joojeh soltani which is a combo and I ask for the zureshk polo rice instead of the plain basmati because I love the taste of the barberries with the chicken and ground beef/lamb skewers. Just a note- their meat is so perfect and tender. It really is mouth watering. The lamb chops are amazing too (you can sub the basmati rice for a jeweled basmati on this one also and its very good). The portions are massive - I recommend eating half of your main course and taking the rest home for leftovers because there are some incredible desserts. They were tragically out of tiramisu when we went (this is how I know it's probably amazing), but the choclava is incredible. I am not a fan of baklava personally because it doesn't taste like much of anything to me but the chocolate version was so good. It was like a chocolate puff pastry tart. Highly recommend. Service is impeccable as always. Everyone who works there is extremely professional and accommodating and always happy to lend a recommendation if you are unfamiliar with persian cuisine. They have also put up a really great outdoor parklet with heat lamps and a special flower booth as well (they also sell the flowers) for a special date night or anniversary celebration. The server at this restaurant gave us the bill, took our credit cards, added two additional items that we never ordered, then charged it. The receipt they give you to sign only has the total. Thankfully Square sends itemized receipts if your email is tied to your credit card and I always take a copy of my receipt. Otherwise, I wouldn't have noticed this. I'm not sure if this is a regular business practice from the restaurant or a rogue server but it's extremely unethical. Never thought I needed to check the receipt *after* it gets charged. read more

Its so hard to find a good Iranian/Persian restaurant that hits close to home. But Lavash might have changed that for me today. I called them ahead of time to make a reservation for my husband & I with no issues. We got there a bit late cause of traffic & parking. Its located right by the Irving St. so parking is hard to find but we stumbled upon a little parking lot on the 7th if i'm not mistaking and just walked over for like 2minutes. They have a really beautiful outdoor seating area decorated with plants. We preferred to sit inside just because the train was too loud when it passed by & it was a bit windy &&& I got allergies. Decor was very chic & tasteful inside as well. They welcomed us & we got seated & ordered our food. Then a complementary dish was brought to us by our waiter that had some feta cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, bread & fresh herbs just like back home. I was very happy. We ordered 2 Ash bowls (noodle soup with lots of legumes & herbs) for appetizer. Then I ordered a Bakhtiari kabob which is my go to and it comes with a Barg kabob (fillet kabob) & Joojeh kabob (chicken kabob) that I wanted to be all white meat. The hubby got his fix of Koobideh kabob (ground beef & lamb kabob). All the kabobs come with a side of white rice & grilled tomatoes unless you ask otherwise. Mast moosir (yogurt side dish) is also always a must for us when we eat kabobs so we added that as well with Dough (yogurt drink) for drinks. The food was absolutely delightful! It made me miss home & my family cause it brought back so many good memories. The kabobs were all made perfectly & the rice was so fluffy & buttery. Im not a Dough (yogurt drink) person but my husband loved their house made dough, he had 2 so go figure.
