Came to Lavash and had a wonderful experience! I highly recommend reservations if you prefer to sit indoors. Looking over the menu, several items caught our eyes. We began with the Kashk-e Bademjan which is a seasoned eggplant spread. It was sooo yummy! The consistency was buttery and creamy and finished with just a light smokiness. The bits of mint provided a nice pop of flavor as well. We also went with the Tahdig with Stew opting for the Bademjan Stew. I personally found the crispy rice to be much too hard even as it sat in the stew. The lamb shank stew though was an absolute star. The lamb was not too gamey and fell right off the bone. We also got a little dish of lavash bread, fresh tomatoes, feta cheese, and basil and mint from the house. We loved the freshness of all the ingredients and used the additional lavash to eat up all the eggplant dip! For entrees, we shared the Lavash Special for two and the Zereshk Polo (Jeweled rice). The Lavash Special is highly recommended in my books. It provided the perfect sampling of all the dishes! Additionally every item was cooked to perfection. The lamb was a perfect medium rare and the chicken kabob was so juicy and tender. As for the Jeweled Rice, it was also very tasty but I do think it was a little heavy handed on the barberries which made the bites very tart. Luckily the Lavash Special came with a lot of rice so we just mixed a little in and made it a little more palatable for us. For dessert, we tried the half Falooda and half pistachio gelato. The falooda was really interesting with the vermicelli noodles but we definitely liked trying something so different! All in all, we really enjoyed our meal. Price was very reasonable and I could definitely see myself returning. The ambiance inside is quite cozy and romantic, perfect for a dinner. read more

Lavash was a authentic Iranian cuisine experience that is a family run business. The food was incredible and very easy to share. I really liked the lavash bread and used that throughout my dishes. Real Persian food, high quality and you can smell the taste before even try it. This is how the good persian food looks like! The service was great and it was interesting how people came with their baggages and it was crowded and busy even though we were there at evening! Its a traditional iranian restaurant by saying this they are going with famous (noon o paniro sabzi) cheese and bread welcoming appetizer. Dont forget to ask for their house yogurt drink (doogh) and famous persian olive (zeytoon parvardeh). The shallot yogurt is the mist try! How you can order kabab and not order shallot yogurt! The desert (bakhlava) is most try so when you are going to persian restaurant it means you are going to eat like there is no tomorrow. Just kidding! Everything was great and we enjoyed our stop! Real food makes us happy no matter where we are at! It was our first time here but definitely when we'll be in San Fransisco we'll stop by but we'll make sure to reserve a table! The best meal I've had in SF and one of the most authentic Afghan/Persian meals ever. This was a foodie delight, the flavors were across the spectrum of palate pleasing and belly filling items. My favorite spot in the bay for Persian food. Every item here is the very best of its kind and feels very royal. My favorite is the zereshk polo jeweled rice. The barberries can be a little overbearing (you can ask to go light on them) but the rice is so flavorful and the chicken is really well cooked. I'm not a desert person but here I can't resist and have to get the faloodeh. Service is also exceptional and it really shows that they care for us to have a good experience and enjoy our meal. Got there right on time and was the first in our party to check in, and surprise surprise they couldn't find my reservation. It's OK as they still had a table inside to offer... When we were all seated, we ordered the Sabzi plate, tahdig with ghaymeh, Kuku Sabzi and the Lavash combination platter. The Sabzi plate was very small with little Lavash bread. The Kuku Sabzi was fine, it was served with a small portion of mast-o-moosir. The tahdig showed up by itself and it took us 10 minutes to catch the server's attention to get the khoresht served. The rice that was served with the kabobs was super greasy with butter, the lamb kabob was great but slightly overdone, chicken kabob was right on and perfect. I didn't even try the koobideh kabob as it looked dry!!! My cousin also had the ashe reshteh and it was made with dried vegetables rather than fresh and the taste was just OK!! Overall, I would give a one for service, a 3 for ambiance and a 2.5 for the food. Hope this was just a bad day for them as I was not impressed at all!! read more

Food was very good! We got the Lavash Special, portion was big enough for three people. Lamb and Beef Kebab was excellent together with the roasted onions, bell pepper and zucchini. Cheenee gave us an excellent service. She answered our question regarding the menu, graciously offered an appetizer and tended to our needs accordingly. Flavors were good, I especially liked the koobideh and barg. Chicken was good but not as tasty as the beef, as expected. I liked the pepper and zucchini skewer to break up all the meat and carbs. I just wish there were more vegetables in general, but do appreciate the onion and tomato on the side. We also had tea and the pistachio saffron ice cream, which was to die for. Sebastian was one of our servers and his recommendations were perfect. We started with the eggplant and dolma appetizers - so flavorful and beautifully presented! He suggested the Lavash Special for 2 and it was incredible...the combination of grilled meats and vegetables over a bed of basmati rice did not disappoint. The lamb chops were perfectly seasoned, and who doesn't love roasted tomatoes?! I didn't think I had room for dessert, but we ordered the Sweet Special ("choklava" w/ pistachio ice cream) and the Crème Caramel (their version of flan but with an amazing presentation, topped with pistachios, raspberries and a crispy sugar wreath). I ended up getting the: *joojeh soltani - this came with a skewer of chicken kabob and the koobideh kabob which is a mix of ground beef and lamb. This dish was delicious and also came with roasted tomato and sumac which was a great addition which added lots of flavor. I'll never eat in Lavash again. I gave Zero for service. There are other persian restaurant in the city or nearby to go to with pleasant service and better atmosphere. We ordered one dish per person for our group of six. One of the beef dishes consisted mostly of uncooked lentils and two dried limes, which the waiter described as very tart and sour. The dish contained only about three small pieces of beef and three pieces of eggplant. The waiter also mixed up our order, brought out the food incorrectly, and then did not return. In addition, the lentil soup we ordered never arrived. After all of these issues, we were offered a free dessert, but unfortunately it was not good. If you have to go only order the kebabs.
